If I could give a zero star review I would. Do NOT get ADT. We have had an awful experience with them. Our system was failing. Alarm would sound off in the middle of the night. He kept trying to get someone out to assess the system. They kept trying to reset over the phone. Finally we demanded someone come out. And we were told that our system was old. They were going to charge us over $500 to update the system. We ended up cancelling then received a phone call the next day saying they would wave the fee and give us a new system. We agreed, new system for free, great and kept our $53 a month fee. We were not told that we had to commit for 3 years. We recently moved and were going to cancel ADT. They gave us the hardest time and told us that we would have to pay a $500 cancellation fee bc we were still in contract for another year. After talking to a manager about it, we came up with a solution that we would transfer to our new house with a home system which would be $24 a month. We did not like this but we were stuck with adt for another year unless we wanted to break contract. Today, I was charged $53 for our old system plus $24 for the new system. And received a $500 cancellation bill. This was definitely not what was agreed to on the phone. I am livid about it. And when I call ADT tomorrow, 100% guarantee they will give us a hard time! They are unprofessional. Talking to the sales rep, we were called dude and they try so hard to keep you as a customer when they don’t deliver on what they promise. I never write reviews but just want to warn people, I do not recommend ADT!

We signed with ADT in 2024 with a contract expected to run until 2028. Everything was fine at first. In 2026, we moved to another state and no longer live in a house, so we cannot use the cameras or the service anymore. The system is completely deactivated.
In March 2026, we tried to cancel, but we were told we would be charged the full remaining contract balance through 2028 all at once. We were also advised to keep paying monthly even though we were not using the service.
We were then offered a “solution” to lower our monthly payment by switching to different equipment. We received the new cameras, but they were never used because we were told they were only needed to adjust the plan.
Later, we were informed that the monthly plan was never actually changed, and we were still being billed under the original contract terms through 2028.
At this point, we are paying for a service we cannot use, with equipment that is not installed or active. The experience has been very frustrating and confusing, and we feel the contract terms and changes were not clearly explained.

Bad business the whole 6 years I have had them it’s been issue after issue and no results my door sensors been replaced 3 times my key pad went out 2 weeks ago and was out for 3-4 days I called in the customer service rep told me to call a electrician( Bad business) my backyard camera don’t show good at night I called in numerous of times about all these issues and they still don’t wanna send a technician unless I pay for it(Bad business)my whole system needs to be replaced I called the corporate office and spoke with keke and she was very rude and kept on telling me that she can send a technician but I had to pay as well and the technician had to say something needed to be replaced but my issue is happening at night she is a very nonchalant person and think she can talk to me like I’m stupid so i think my best bet is to do away with with this service because I don’t feel safe with adt and they don’t care about my safety at all I’m paying for something they don’t work properly and I sick of troubleshooting this equipment I don’t work for adt
Customer service should be rated zero
Customer service should be rated zero. I had questions about my system related to erroneous panel readings in unoccupied rooms. I was unable to reach a human in customer service. I wrote to ADT - same result - no attempt made by ADT to respond or help. I attempted to contact ADT at their help line - computer voice was of no help. I tried to contact them by text - screen where one might reset their password remained blank. Their review screen provides a choice of ranking them 1-5. That where a zero would be appropriate. As a customer for >10 years, I was in hope of at least minimal customer service.
nightmare company
Getting connected to someone at ADT is an absolute nightmare. They keep dropping calls and rerouting us to different people that keep asking the same questions - the incompetence is staggering.

With them for 8.5 years, they raise the rates every year claiming it’s the economy. I got locked into a contract for a year without my consent or being told. So done with these snakes. Trash!
Misled ADT customer
Last July (2025) I had called to cancel my service, only because of the price. I’ve never had an issue otherwise and was a happy customer. I talked to a representative who convinced me to not cancel and I agreed to a free system upgrade as I was due for one and due to my customer loyalty (6 years at that time), it would be free. I had all the equipment in my home already with the exception of an older display screen and I needed another door alarm. The screen was part of the”free” upgrade. The technician came and I paid the $162 as agreed for installation. After speaking he told me he was gonna give me some freebies as a loyal customer. I was obviously happy. In fact I gave him 2 bags of unopened dog treats ($20) as my dogs didn’t like them and we bonded over our dogs. At no point did I agree to rebuy ALL the equipment AGAIN. I was completely misled by the technician and found out thereafter (approximately 2 months later I believe) that I was paying for an entire new system of equipment. So my bill was $51 when initially canceling, and I agreed to $50 for a year I believe was my contract with a free upgrade. I’m now paying an extra $40+ as my bill is $77/month. So he “lowered” my bill but added all this equipment. I would have NEVER agreed to this as the whole point was to cancel my service initially due to the price. So now I’m paying for 36 months (2 extra years) and paying $2000(ish) dollars for equipment I didn’t need or want. At all. I’m BEYOND disappointed with this service. Customer service was amazing today and agreed I was misled. So I am making it a point to put this misled information on every platform I can, so others don’t go through this. Being mad is an understatement. And if I cancel it’s $1800, on top of the $40+/month I’ve been paying since August . This July would be 7 years as a faithful customer. Not after my contract is up now.

I had to fix the trash install I payed for it and fixed it it sucked so bad Sunday morning the sensor fell off my door and woke me up at 6 o'clock in the morning Sunday and a couple of days ago where the technician installed the sensor wasn't correct far from it need to pay me got screwed twice once on trash installation I had to pay for and had to fix there trash where's my money? Whatever happened to professional companies definitely not ADT.
Unbelievably bad service
We ordered a whole house security system. They came and installed it and it worked for exactly 24 hours. Then none of the sensors would work. We did virtual attempts to repair, had a technician come out and try to fix it and it cannot be fixed. We just want to cancel and told them right after the technician failed to fix it. They will NOT refund any of the money paid for the equipment because the cancellation wasn't within 72 hours of installation, when we were working with them for days to try and make the system work. The customer service is unbelievably bad. We actually had one representative hang up on us as we were trying to work this out. Never use them
ADT is absolutely the worst home…
ADT is absolutely the worst home security system EVER! Don't waste your time and money on their products. Bought the the ADT plus system, paid cash for everything upfront and within the first month have had issue after issue. First it started with the batteries. They installed old, out dated batteries that the company already knew about were a problem but stuck me with them anyway. It took months of going round and round with them to send me new ones. Then the base started not communicating to their system anymore. Had to jump through hoops to get that issue fixed. Which included resets and unplugging and over the phone tech running test after test. Ended up having to relocate the base to another section of the house. That worked for like two weeks and then the same issue with the base not communicating with ADT monitors AGAIN!! For the next 3 months straight, ADT automated system was calling me 4-5 times a day, even leaving messages about the issue. I called ADT to request them to stop blowing up my phone about the issue that they already knew about. They said it would stop BUT it hasn't!!! From 7am to 11pm the system keeps calling me! The worst part is ADT has gone as far as started texting and calling my emergency contact saying that there's a issue within my home!! Creating panic with my emergency contact person! If I could give ADT a 0 star rating I would! Please save yourself a lot of money and headaches and DON'T waste your time with ADT! They are the absolute worst company ever to deal with! Next step will be to get a lawyer involved...
Very poor product and service
I wish I would have checked the comments on line before I tried to deal with these people becuase with a 1.2 rating they obviously don't care. They are running a slick pyramide plan. Called in and told the rep what I need for my business and she said no problem, got me scheduled for instalation and of course got the depost payments. Then they send the technician out to install the product and he says no what I ordered is not what i need to he tells me what I need and of course it cost more and he gets another deposit. I complain after installation and they send out a 'manager' to see my operation and he tells me I was not sold what I needed and then he gives me a proposal for different equipment and guess what, yep more money. This is wrong. They confused me, got over my head with technology and basically out smarted me. When I call in for explanation of my billing the reps say they don't understand my issue and will send me something in writing by letter or email but they have not. The only thing they seem to be efficient with is charging my credit card. I wish I could rate them a negative rating but again it appears they just don't care. I don't know what remedies I have available but researching this. I have to believe they are treating other customers the same one.
ADT Services......Disappointment
As an over 30-year customer of ADT, the service has been very disappointing of late. I cannot recommend ADT as a reliable alarm monitoring company. Frustration has set in and I am actively looking for other options to replace their service.
From 14 April to 7 May, I have interacted no less than 13 times via phone with either the AI Assistant, a virtual or live agent or a service team manager for ADT Security. After multiple AI assistants, at least 2 separate virtual techs and an on site visit which failed to correct the issue for more than 5 hours, it was determined that my SVR was defective and needed replacing. It was ordered by a virtual tech and order confirmed by a service team manager. However, when the tech arrived on the day scheduled for installation, he informed me he did not have the part, and it needed to be ordered.
I immediately phoned a service team manager who took over 48 hrs to return my call.
It should not take 13 phone calls and an on site visit a to determine the status of this type of equipment. Additionally, why did the tech arrive at my home only to tell me he didn’t have the part? He even proceeded to order the part, scheduling an install for a week out without assessing my availability. Unprofessional. There appears to be some confusion with procedures. Too many layers of bureaucracy and not all segments are talking to each other. Enough is enough. The name ADT used to be synonymous with professional service. It is what kept me with them over my years of military service, spanning several states. It is time for a change.

I called ADT to get instructions on how to repair my doorbell cam. After I explained what was going on it was suggested by ADT to schedule an appt with a tech, I had an appointment scheduled today in the window of 1pm-5pm. Since I work in another town I took the day off to await the tech, Since I had not heard from ADT i called at 4:15pm and was informed the appt had been cancelled at 8:28 am...9 HOURS PRIOR TO THE APPT. I had my phone with me all day waiting for ADT to call so eventually I called ADT and was informed of the cancellation. I received no call or email from ADT cancellation and offer for a reschedule. Since the appointment was for Friday afternoon between 1-5 my guess is the tech just didnt want bto do it on a Friday afternoon and made up their mind, 9 HOURS PRIOR, to cancel it. Additionally ADT could have found someone else within a 9 hour time fram that couldve done such a simple job. Instead they chose to try and gaslight me with a lie about : we called but there was no answer". When asked what number they called their response was "we dont know but we left a message" I cant even depend on these people to have any degree of consideration for my time and yet Im supposed to trust them with the safety of my home and business? This is the 2nd time they've done this. I have 3 accounts with ADT and my home, business and rental and its time to look for someone that may not be as big but certainly more reliable.

Update: Thanks to trust pilot a rep with some powerful influence contacted me immediately and after working with many reps who were unable to help, this person got all of my problems solved in a day. She was very good and the did make it right financially as well Very happy it's resolved too bad it took so long and so much energy to fix
ADT doesn’t work
I purchased the personal alert system that is supposed to geolocate you. I was in Nashville last week and I fell. I pushed the button and the system placed me back in my town in Pennsylvania rather than in Nashville, Tennessee. My home ENTs broke down my house door. The system never located me.
I would never subscribe to this ADT system. It doesn’t work!!!

Today I called them again and they kept transferring me through 3 different departments until someone finally hung up on me. ADT is the worst and the equipment does not function and they try to charge you to fix it this is a SCAM save yourself the trouble and look else where and make sure to research everything. They even hide the reviews very scummy this is after a year of service and its been a nightmare. You have been warned..
Billing errors
Billing errors, zero refund. On phone for over 4 hours, emailed, nothing back except, maybe I can have a free camera. I have never experienced something like this in my life - out $$$$ and still charging me to end of the contract. NEVER NEVER NEVER purchase from ADT you will regret!!!!!
Terrible company
Terrible company. Had poor service from them for years and finally called to cancel. They stopped billing me for 6 months and started billing me again saying that I never canceled. Insane. Horrible customer service. We are taking legal action. Think of all the people they must be scamming like this. UPDATE: I emailed the address posted here and they quickly refunded the charges! Thanks to ADT and TrustPilot.

Wanted specific perimeter security. Talked in great detail about this. Outside security cameras. Not on house. I get a contract for indoor and some stickers. Not what I signed up for. Called. We don’t do outside cameras. Must be attached to the house. Canceled the appointment. They continue to call me. And suddenly!! Do the outside. Leave me alone! Total BS.

I called again to speak with management and I keep getting the runaround so when I signed my contract it states that I'd be paying 6503 monthly I was never told that I was going to be getting charged twice a month that was not what I signed for so they've been taking it out of my bank account twice two different payments and it's not even for the price that I agreed upon and my contract not only that but I've called in all the time because my cameras don't work there's always a problem you can't get through to anybody when you do talk to somebody you have to verify your self over and over and over and when you tell one person something then they don't write it down I mean it's just been a nightmare and I legally am going to sue this company because they have completely in charging me I mean almost $500 they've taken out of my account that I do not approve of so that's completely illegal and they can't even give me an itemized bill they don't even send me a bill so I don't even know what I'm getting charged for and then they tack on all these extra charges that have nothing to do with anything they just make them up and then they go oh I can take that off and take this off it's like well I wasn't even told about that in the first place so they just make up stuff don't go there do not get service with these people they absolutely suck they do not honor anything they say that they're going to either just know that then they'll charge you thousands of dollars

I have had this is done for 8 months i'm gonna get straight to the point I signed up and signed a contract with them my contract was extremely high but I signed for paying only 60 dollars a month and somehow they have been charging me two separate accounts one for $57 and the other one for $71 And that's not even what I signed in my contract So illegally they've been charging my account when I never signed for it Not only that but they need to credit my account and I talk to a manager he said he would credit my account back $587 which they did not do what they did is they gave me a credit supposedly on my account again not true I also asked them for a breakdown of everything and how they got that amount compared to what I have as my total then I asked them about some charges on my card that they've made and they could not even verify those then they installed smoke alarms when I never asked for them Then they charged me for them as well So if you ever sign up for these people make sure you read the contract and go through each initial charge because they add on everything and you don't even get what you're being charged for and did you know that they can remove all these charges whenever they want but they don't refund you your money they just add it as a credit on your account but don't even give it to you they're frauds they're fakes they're liars
Not worth it one bit!
The guy who came to her house was nice, and the man on the phone was friendly too, but they put us in a three-year contract. My husband and I didn’t realize we were trying to break it, and we were never told it was a three-year deal. We were told it would renew, and we missed the deadline. So miscommunication or whatever. Our sensors have been broken, and we can't arm our system. For about a year. We've called multiple times about this issue, but they don’t deduct anything from our bill for it. You do the fixes. They still plan to charge us even though my husband changed jobs, and we can’t afford the high monthly payments because our mortgage, car note, and insurance have all gone up. Prices are just rising everywhere, and they show no empathy or willingness to help. We have to call multiple people, and I’ve been rated and belittled by employees. Once, I was on the phone with one employee, and another had to apologize because of how rude he was to me. Their service is really poor. They’ll just keep charging you even when you can’t afford it, and if you can't use the system, it’s not very effective. It’s better to skip their service and get your own — whether it’s cameras or other security measures — so you can feel safe. It’s not worth the trouble or headache, especially if you're middle class, lower class, or just a person dealing with life’s challenges. They don’t care about anyone but themselves making money, and that’s unfortunate for their business. I just wish my husband never even talked to them.
Billing dispute After Cancellation – Sent to Collections Without Notice
Very frustrating experience. I canceled my service in 2024, had equipment removed, and believed the account was closed. I never used the service afterward, and their system even shows zero activity. Almost two years later, I received a collections notice with no prior warning. ADT says I didn’t submit a written cancellation, but that requirement was never explained. This feels like a failure in their process, not mine.
