I've been with ADT for around 16 years back before the Brinks merger I'm one of those who do not like change. I'm thinking I may have to leave ADT. My payments are deducted from my account when I called the other day during a alarm event at my house I had to go through a series of prompts talking about a payment due next month and if I wanted to make a payment, this is before I get to speak to someone about my alarm going off. This in my opinion is unacceptable.
Don't stand behind their systems or their warranty
First of all, shop around first, their prices are 10 times what you can buy the components for. Get a smart home system and you'll save hundreds of dollars. I had a problem with their camera only recording for thirty seconds (which they did not tell me beforehand), and instead of fixing the problem they tried to sell me a camera selling for hundreds of dollars more. So I bought a $50.00 camera that did everything there's does, does it 24/7, and has zero fees instead of $60 a month.
And be very careful when you buy an ADT system, you may not actually be buying it from them. I bought a system and the company told me it had a six month warranty, and I could cancel the contract if there were any problems. When I had a big problem, they told me "oh, sorry, we're not the company you bought it from, so shut up and take a hike". It says ADT on the contract, it says ADT on the box, it was ADT with whom I signed up.
So the company who is masquerading as ADT lied to me repeatedly, and ADT itself just doesn't care.
Given their attitude and complete lack of customer service and customer care, I would suggest thinking three times before you trust ADT with your property and your well-being. They just don't care about it at all, they just care about getting all their money.
If you are trying to protect yourself…
If you are trying to protect yourself in a domestic violence situation DO NOT get ADT. They misrepresent how the system will protect and fraudulently get you into a 6 year contract. All a determined individual has to do is disable the wifi and the system is useless, but they won’t tell you this until after you buy. Then they won’t do anything to help you and you’re locked into a 72 month (7200$!!!) contract. ADT rep was aware that my ex husband was disabling wifi previous to system being installed and sold me their system as a solution. It was sold to me as though the cameras had their own wifi system, but this is false. Only the panel system has it’s own wifi, which is totally useless and leaves me stuck with the bill for the THOUSANDS of dollars or damages done to my home and car since the installation of my security system. They take advantage of people at their most vulnerable.

This company has a horrible system. Beware if you move they make you leave the equipment and bully you to pay for someone else service or sign a new contract. Do not sign up with this company. My alarm went off several times. No one ever contact me. I called adt. Horrible service .
Very bad and unsafe equipment
Very bad and unsafe equipment. Their outdoor and doorbell cameras suck unless you get the Nest doorbell camera. The batteries in the keypad fried and melted the mounting bracket and my sheet rock. Took 1.5 hours to get anyone on the phone at ADT since I yanked the key pad from the wall. They gave me another number to call but it was closed until Monday. So, I have a control panel dangling from the wall until someone can help. Terrible company.
I paid £49 for the installation
I paid £49 for the installation, but never been told the true about the monthly fee's by the ADT seller. Customer service told me the lower price than the reality is. Don't liar's customers !!! Just tell the real price from the beginning. From the 14th of the May, day before my purchase, I was cancelled the order, but still waiting for the full refund for the cancellation up to today's day. I've Ben told !!. By 10 days from my cancellation I should receive automatically full refund anyway after cancellation, but unfortunately never happens. I've been contacted with ADT coustomer service somemany times, somemany phone calls and emails, just wasting my time and breathing because wasn't work. I've been transferring to somany different departments to speaking with someone who can help me with my claim, they promised me quickly resolved my refund, but it was only promised. Unfortunately never happens. They just liar's and never tells true. It's looks like to me they a more than happy for stolen my or yours money's. I do not recommend this people, ADT is very bad coustomer service and untrusted company. Before you paid them asking somemany questions, asking for black and white contract and if you happy than signed. My next ste, have to be ombudsman, I hope he will be more helpful with my case than ADT, because they don't want cooperating with me any more.
Inappropriate behavior by ADT sales associate
An ADT sales associate behaved aggressively with me after I complained about the incomplete job, overcharging, and other concerns. I felt very unsafe. I reported his inappropriate behavior to ADT who told me a manager would call me. Weeks went by with me calling throughout and still no response. I finally canceled (approx 3 months into contract) and they charged me $3,900! I feel entirely defrauded and victimized and I see I’m not alone.

I have been with ADT over a year now and finally got a chance to write a review....since that time only one a camera has been working and suppose to have a doorbell camera installed but wasn't and we also suppose to have a 7 inch touch screen panel which the technician said one was already installed which was not and did not get. The only thing that was done is the technician replace the 2 cameras that the previous owner had and had to call another technician because he had trouble doing that. Adt make it right!!!
Shady Business, Do Not Recommend
Honestly, ADT has been great for us until recently. We have had it since mid-August 2020 and have had great service and peace of mind for over a year and a half.
At the time of their original install, we were told if we ever moved that they would transfer our equipment over and would only be paying for any additional equipment and for someone to come out and install everything. When we did move in December 2021, we were told that we were to get rid of the old equipment and would get new products at the house for security reasons. At no point were we told that we would be paying for the same equipment we had already paid for, and were under the impression that what was told to us was what was accurate. After all of the items were installed at the house, we realized we were missing a wireless panel that we paid $299 for at the apartment. After calling multiple times to figure out the situation spanning many hours and transfers to other departments, we were told we never purchased that piece of equipment and that they would not be giving us one. I called again a week later, and of course, the story had changed. Apparently, between August 2020 and December 2021 they had changed their process and with moving, they would provide clients with equipment and a discount but it would not be like the equipment they had already purchased was replaced entirely. To put that into perspective, our original appointment in August 2020 was for nearly $1,800 worth of equipment that was heavily discounted due to the circumstances with COVID and the deal they were running. In the install in the new home, they gave us a discount for $800 of the equipment- leaving out the $299 panel and charging us for $1000+ of the other equipment, much of which we initially paid for and were told we would not be paying for again.
Finally, I got ahold of someone who told us that they had changed the policy and now everyone gets their equipment replaced but has to pay for it again and trash the old equipment. It is disrespectful to your client base to not inform them of such changes and to not inform them when they call to schedule a move or when they are getting an appointment. It is dishonest and sleazy behavior and is part of the reason we are reconsidering our relationship with ADT. We were told that they would graciously give us a discount on a new wireless panel, but I’m sorry, that is not acceptable. We have already paid out of pocket for the other equipment and are not asking for a refund on that even though with the dishonesty and lack of communication displayed, that wouldn’t be unreasonable to request. I am genuinely just looking for a piece of equipment that we had previously paid for and were told would be something we would not pay for again, to be just that. The offer from them was $99 for a smaller version of what we had, free install and a discount. Genuinely, that’s just not good enough. They changed their policies and neglected to tell their customers and that is just completely bad business. To hear their customer service tell me that they needed to change the policies to not lose money- what do you think is happening to your customers? And to not tell them? Shady business, truly. The people losing money are their loyal customer base that are going through the same hard times that the business is experiencing. I am not saying they should not have this new policy- but why not explain it to your customers before they move and are out of that money?
ADT has been great up until these recent problems, but their complete lack of customer service, acceptance or responsibility and respect for their client base is truly making me want to run and not use them again. If you asked me a year ago, I would have highly recommended them to anyone who asked for their security needs. It truly is disappointing to see an organization I thought so highly of has such blatant lack of care for those who rely on them for security and peace of mind. I hope they get things together- super excited for my generic reply from them that they copy and paste on every review.

I agree with the other reviewers that ADT provides very poor service. I called ADT for questions about my bill. I got a representative on the phone but she could not answer simple questions. She cut the line. She did called back but the connection was so poor I only heard every third word. Then the line went dead. I've been on hold for 40 minutes to get another representative.
Very unhappy customer
The sales department run under fraudulent ways. I called them and had a sales man out to help me and he took my information and at no time did he tell me that I was signing a contract for three years or was I signing a agreement for them to automatically take money from my account. I told the sales man straight out the gate we do not do automatic payments and he said quote and unquote "that's ok we will not do that." Adt did it twice and told me to bad. I would never use this company for security. You can not trust them.
I have been on hold with ADT call…
I have been on hold with ADT call center for 43 mins, waiting to set up a simple installation of a camera. The agent put me on hold and said he'd be back and never returned. At the time of writing, I am STILL on hold, so I decided to write a review. This is absolutely appalling for a professional company to have such a disgusting and cavalier attitude to wasting customers' time. I am seriously losing faith in this company's ability to treat the security of my home seriously. Horrific. As I conclude this review, I am STILL on hold - 43 minutes later. When I started with ADT years ago, their customer service center was swift and professional, but now it's shamefully incompetent. So disappointed.

Do Not Recommend!
The ADT Technicians that I’ve worked with have all been great. They were very helpful and clearly explained my system during installation.
Unfortunately, their billing software and department is horrific. The amount listed on my adt.com account is never the correct amount. It’s different than what’s on the billing statements. They’re consistently charging a late fee each month even before the due date. I’ve had to hound them a few times on the phone because of this and the incorrect billing transaction history. After being on the phone longer than 30 minutes each time, they’ve issued credits with no logical explanation as to why their system isn’t billing correctly. I’ve had to change my debit card because their billing system randomly charged me multiple times in one month, even outside of the due date listed online and in my contracts. When I called AGAIN to inquire about it, no logical explanation was provided.
I’ve set up auto pay with another card and they’ve only charged me for the flex payments. Now, I’m waiting to see if the monthly service charge will be charged on my card, as instructed, or will they charge me another late fee.
I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND ADT for security services. When you call to cancel, of course you’re locked into the contract until you pay the installation fees. What’s so shocking, they have not always been this horrific. Not sure what happened.
Feel like I am getting ripped off and no one knows what they are doing.
Had them come out a few months ago to replace the battery on the outside siren and told the technician at the time we had sensors inside that needed replaced. The inside sensor batteries never got replaced and for the 1st time in 20 yrs had to pay a service fee of $100.00. Finally got a new technician to come out a few days ago. He replaced 2 sensor batteries and charged me a service fee of over $200.00 before he would do anything. I told him that the person that I had talked to on the phone a few days before told me there was no charge and this technician said they are not authorizated to say that. So now I am out another $200.00 and I pay over a $100.00 for the alarm. Thinking it is time to move to another company.

We got the service on 06/09 and canceled on 06/10. The doorbell camera never worked! First things first the guys said that the down payment would be $100 down and $50 a month. Ok no problem! I go to read the contract $99 down and $63.99 a month. Already bait and switch! I called to cancel the service the rep said you have two contracts. Why would have two contracts for one service. This dude Troy had a contract we’re we had cameras with no with video service. I asked the rep how would the camera work without video service she said it wouldn’t. So, I told her to cancel service. She put me on hold to call the local office and said they would be reaching out to us. One of the gentleman returned to ask what was going on and why did we want to cancel. I explained to him that the doorbell camera doesn’t work and y’all lied about the price. Nevertheless we have yet to see someone but they know that you three days to cancel the service and after that you’re lock in. When called back for them to come pick up their equipment they told me that it’s to late to cancel. I tried the explain to the rep that I can the next day and they were supposed to correct the problem or cancel service they didn’t do either. The rep said they can’t cancel they can just pick up the cameras. I’m going to post on Facebook and reaching out to the news media because no company should be able to allow their employees to bait and switch customers just to get business.

1, this is security company, not like other type companies, should answer telephone as soon as possible because customers' calling may emergency problems and needs quick resolved. but unfortunately When we call ADT, every waiting time was about 30 minutes. Plus the answer to phone generally are not professional enough to resolve problem, so many time they ask another person help, the callers need waiting another 30-45 minutes. That is bad experience for everybody.
2, I found my phone told me there are 6 issues need fix: number one is link offline, others including doorbell out line and camera not work. I thought ADT should find these problems and active call me to try resolving, but nobody call me. I and my wife were old than 80 years, Thanks Lord I am relative healthy, so I called ADT more than 3 times, finally they send a technician who just send a video and let me follow up video fix myself for a 80 year old man. It is reasonable?
3, Depending contraction If ADT system's equipment have something wrong they come to fix should be free. But this time I actively tell ADT I changed network but I tried very hard to find where I can give the new network information, unfortunately I did not find. I thought this is ADT designed mistake, like many programs there are putting "new network" in account, custom can immediately give this information. interesting enough, when I tell them about change network they said all my ADT problems caused by network changed, therefore I have to pay $59 for technician come to my house. I am not happy and no other choice to accept this deals. I felt it is not fair.
I have been a custom of ADT for more than 20 years, and I love this company, but I saw this company's situation has significantly going down, I felt pain in my heart. That reason I wrote this relative long letter.

Was searching for a security system
Was searching for a security system, and companies like Vivint were high on the radar until Jonathan at ADT called and essentially pressured and bullied me into signing with them, bad-mouthing the competition. Should have been a sign.
The contract had to be signed quickly and for a period of time before the tech would come out. When he came out he was really new at install and took a long time to install and his showing of the panel was basically there it is follow the screens.
The thermostat didn't work and the Google doorbell which I now find out does not link to their app were issues. The thermostat I replaced with one that actually worked from elsewhere. When the tech came to remove he called the office 3 times and seemed nervous and wanted me to be right there when he removed it to verify he did it and broke nothing. He installed the original again and never stayed to verify it worked or checked back, he said he had to run. The doorbell they won't even talk to me about replacing.
Thenthere is a $100 reward for signing up. I got the card in the mail and the number was blurry so I called in. First I contacted Jonathan who said it was no longer his PROBLEM and told me to call support. Support said my account had been accessed and the card had been redeemed not by me though, so I have an account with a security company and there is what appears to be a security breach that no one talks about, I tell Jonathan to make him aware and his response was basically 'OK'.
He said he would work with his manager to get the reward and they both decided I would need to go through support and that they c(w)ouldn't help.
I so want to cancel them and get the company I originally wanted, called ADT and now they say I have to pay 75% of the cost of the equipment to cancel.
Not a company to choose if you want customer service, maybe the product is good but the people are not.
UPDATE: ADT did reach out to me and credited my account for the $100 that was lost in the mail. The issue of the technicians and the bully salesman, who informed me that if I had wanted to use a different company too bad because it had already been 3 days since the ADT contract even before install. Vivint is a better system that is more accommodating to the customer.
This product is inferior.
We had an intruder come over our back fence and use our yard as an escape route the other night and my son sleeps in the house behind ours so we called ADT to install security they suggested the Google doorbell for the backyard and for the front door and then an AVT camera for above the garage looking over the driveway. The first red flag I should have noticed was they made me sign the contract before the technician even began installation. The product has not worked since the technician left and we have gotten no help from customer service cents so I’ve had to stay up 22 hours a day on my perch looking over my son‘s house to make sure he’s safe. I made a video of myself climbing over that same back fence walking through the backyard in front of my sons house in front of the Google POS doorbell and it never picks me up I have video evidence of this. This product is trash their customer service is trash and now we’re going to have to pay on that contract but I will uninstall every single thing they installed because it doesn’t work. Money just being thrown in the garbage can is what this is don’t buy it.

I would like to give a zero but I cannot. This has been the worst experience that we’ve ever had. We have been trying to cancel our service for a week now. We’ve called 3-4 times daily and are being told “they are working on it”. There are no managers or supervisors that you can speak to. I’ve been told multiple times that our banking information was removed from the account and it is still showing. What’s going to happen is they are going to continue to charge us when we have tried cancelling our service. Our sales representative Travis will no longer contact us back. This comes after our animals could have died when a smart thermostat was installed and apparently was compatible with our system. We tried calling to get it fixed and no one ever got back to us. We had to uninstall the thermostat ourselves after it exceeded 80 degrees in our home on a 100 degree day. I could go on and on about that this awful experience.

WAY too much $$ for 0 service
WAY too much $$ for 0 service. To pay almost 70 bucks a month for nothing more than them looking at my house on a screen, such a waste. I thought, and was told by the installer, if anything goes wrong they will come out and fix the "issue". Yea sure they will for 59 bucks and then it may not be "their issue" to fix. WHAT THE F? I contacted them today b/c I have an INSIDE camera that I can move from place to place that has a small amount of moisture (right in the line of sight of the eye of the camera) so I can't see shi*! I cannot clean the lense b/c it is inside, how, NO CLUE but when I contact them they rec I have a tech come out and assess for 59 bucks, ah no, I can mail this thing in and get it fixed or replaced. Nope not an option. So then I ask so...if ANYTHING goes wrong & someone has to come out so I can continue to use the service I am paying your to use it will cost me 59 bucks? She said YES....that is like paying the power co for power and still getting a bill for when the power is out b/c the cable is down and then having to pay the power company (on top of your bill for service you are not getting) to come reconnect your power. Ah? Again WT??? Personally NOT WORTH the $$ what are they doing with my $$?
Absolutely horrible
Absolutely horrible. The worst most vile degenerate company I have ever, ever dealt with. They have zero integrity and from the corporate level down, this company is the most disgraceful group of individuals I have ever, been so disgusted to deal with. We are in the process of moving to another location. I explained this to the billing rep on the phone. She told me that if I continue my service at the new location that I would not be charged if I sign into a new contract (the home is currently being built). She said if I pay $100 for new contract service that day that is the only thing I would be charged and I could postpone my install until the house was ready, and pay 80 after install. No problem you help me I continue business with you. Instead these lowlifes proceeded to charge me nearly $2000 cancel the previous contract billed directly from my account. After I had already signed a new 3 year contract with them!!! When I talked to them on the phone and explained I was a loyal customer of many years and they caused me all this grief they basically said sorry that is our contract we can refund you when the new install at the new home is done. Now I will have to get lawyers, the BBB involved etc. You people messed with the wrong consumer. If I could give this company a lower review I would. They are the worst of worst.
