while I waited hours on the phone to schedule service, they passed me around from residential to service to whom ever. everyone saw the account amd system. nobody helped. out of 7 people amd 5 different phone mumbers given two people turned out helpfull while I was at the final stretch and on hold they look something up the auto voice said the call took to long and hung up on me while I was waiting??!?
the passing around to 6 or 7 different people inside the adt companies and nobody is responsible to schedule a simple service call is pathetic.
why are we paying a bill and then they tell me the account is inactive since 2000????I am just laughing now, but ADT does not deserve our money, not here at the residence not at the company at work.
I thought verizon business is the worst customer service but really Adt trumps it;

If negative stars were an option, it'd be there. Called for help after 2 attempted installation attempts by one of their authorized subcontractors. Was told numerous times on numerous calls that it's not their problem and I need to deal with the subcontractor that failed the installation twice. Why would I? They obviously don't know what they're doing but I should continue to deal with them? The bills come from ADT, not that company so to me the simple request of having them send a qualified installation technician in an actual ADT company vehicle was the solution but apparently out of the realm of possibility. Glad they never forget the send those bills on time because I've been paying for months without a single functional item they charge extra for. Sweet deal

Believe the other complaints. Do not enter into any contracts with ADT. Do not agree to anything over the phone. Make sure that anything they say is DOCUMENTED.
PLEASE BE AWARE that whether or not your system is functional, they fully expect to be paid for monitoring, even if it the system doesn’t work.
If you ever have any contact with the accounts department, make sure you get anything they say in WRITING.
Make sure they email you (while you are on the phone) and make sure that it has been received before you get off the phone.
They are absolutely untrustworthy, expensive, and subpar.
We switched to RING and it has been so much better than anything ADT provided… At a fraction of the cost.
Also understand (as another person commented), even if you have paid for their equipment, when you cancel the contract, the equipment no longer works.
With Ring, it works just fine with no contract. Not to mention that the equipment is better and cheaper than ADTs.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company… And I use that term very loosely.

I would give 0 to - stars. ADT violated my privacy and disclosed my password.
I would give - stars if possible. ADT violated my privacy, allowed another individual to close my account after providing them with my passwords. This resulted in me paying nearly $800 for the closure. My account was in good standing and current. I will never use their services again, clearly, but their lack of concern for my privacy and passwords is terrifying.

3 Years ago I moved into my house, shortly after I was in the market for a Home security system as I am gone from the house a lot. So unfortunately I went with ADT. Apparently since I’m military they were gonna cut me a “Great” deal. I was supposedly getting my system Half off. So they installed my system and hit me with a 2500 dollar bill and told me I could pay it over the next 3 months. I paid a 1000 that day and for the next 3 months my bill was 500$. I thought it was over then. The next month they hit me with a 60 dollar monthly “Monitoring” fee. I called and asked them about it. They told me it was in my contract that I would pay 60$ a month for the next 3 years for them to monitor my system. I was furious but for the last 3 years I have paid this. Mind you my alarm has been set off numerous times and no one has ever called to check up on me or called the authorities for me. The ADT app feels like a 5 year old built it. The camera quality of the “surveillance” Cameras look like someone duck taped a Nokia to a wall.
So finally after 3 years I call to cancel my service. They think I’m calling to pay my bill so immediately they pick up and start talking to me about my bill, I paid it and told them my contact is up and I want out. Immediately their time changed and they patched me over to Account Management which took them about 30 minutes to pick up. Once they picked up I explained I wanted to cancel my service. After a few attempts they tried convincing me to stay with ADT to monitor my system. I denied them. So they finally gave in and canceled my service and explained to me that the system that I out right fully paid for 3 years ago would no longer work at all. My cameras won’t work, my system won’t arm, and my doors will not chime. How can you turn off all of the equipment that a customer paid for and bought??? I get not monitoring it and having someone from ADT call yourself or the authorities but turning off the whole system?
Needless to say my biggest regret since moving into my house is doing business with ADT. Please learn from my mistake and never sign a contract or do any business with this company.
Horrible experience
Horrible experience. Use high pressure sales tactics to lock you into a long term overpriced contract. They made me wait 30 minutes on the phone just to try to cancel then tried to charge me $2000 to cancel it!! Ridiculous. This should be illegal.

ADT are extortionists and thieves. Please don't ever enter into any contract with this company. They will lie, steal, cheat and ultimately provide a horrible service with a horrible product and refuse to stand behind any of it!
I call about a problem
I call about a problem. I go to technical support and I don’t mind waiting that’s fine. What’s not fine is I continuously get hung up on. Then I call back to get help with a simple issue but no one can help me and they keep saying they will transfer me to technical support I try to explain the issue at least look into it or try to help and I kept doing this for over 4 hours with no help. The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life.

Renewed contract without permission
They auto renewed my contract saying they received my permission when I have ZERO recollection of ever doing this. They could not produce proof, telling me I had to submit a subpoena with my attorney otherwise I must pay the ~$1,200. for an entire new contract. When requesting proof, they canceled my account without my permission saying I had to pay it in full. Will never do business with them again.
Customer service is horrible.
I have just spent over an hour trying to get my alarm system fixed. It is seizing the phone line on incoming calls. When I set up the appointment, I told them the only day available for a virtual appointment was 6/28/22. They called me on 6/24/22 when I was no where near the alarm panel. I was shuffled to different people and was not allowed to speak to a supervisor. They want to make another virtual appointment. The last time this happened, a technician had to come out. I can’t afford to keep making appointments that they can’t honor. Their service is not what it was when I got started with them in 1998. They are now totally incompetent.
I've been without alarm since Saturday…
I've been without alarm since Saturday June 25th! We had a power outage! But power came back within 3_hours! No service! I finally called ADT today (after holding for 32 minutes). Couldn't get alarm restore! So they have to send a technician out, but the sooner we can get an appointment they could get some on out home is July 5th, that's outrageous! Spoke to scheduling but they could do any better was transfer to Customer service and was put on hold for another 25 minutes they couldn't do any better!! Terrible Customer Service! Can't wait for contract date and will definitely cancel Service!😡😡

What a racket. Don't get any eqiptment from them, they lock it up and won't let you use it any where else. AWFUL Customer Support - BEWARE!
Update . It get worse! So someone had me contact ADT CS and they basically said ,The equipment you bought is worthless since you are using someone else, They are unconcerned about this too. Read the other reviews. these people are not good actors and if they treat people this way, think about how they treat your safety. I am so glad we did not need to count on ADT. CONSUMERS MUST KNOW !
What cutomer service?
The customer service department should be shut down. The customers would have a better chance on their own. The last two days my calls have been cut off and no one has returned my call when this happened. As if they don't have my account information in order to contact me. This shows that mgmt isn't concerned with customer concerns because of the lack of assistants they have in order to satisfy the customer

if i could rate this company a zero (0) i would. i have been listening to (as of this morning it's 2) smoke alarms beeping saying a battery needs replacement. long story very short a new batterty in both won't stop the chirping. don't have this happen to you! one of the reps said it sounds as if the detectors have gone bad! ya think!!! best they could do was a one week service appointment and literally instructed to get up on a ladder every 2 hours to silence the alarms until a rep can come out ina week. in other owrds you'll just have to live with it!! customer service at its absolute worse!!!!

If I could get zero stars with this company I would. Please do not sign up with this company. they are nothing but crooks. I had a working system, hardwired and the salesman came in and stayed here for 10 hours badgering me. I asked him to leave several times. even my daughter asked him to leave. Just to get him out, I finally signed a contract for $1000 and he put all this crappy wireless stuff and bypassed my hardwire. the next day I called and canceled. I had three days to cancel . I spoke to Michael the manager to come pick up their equipment. That’s when the nightmare started. They will not let you out of there contract. do not sign anything go to another security company .

My parents have a fire and burglar alarm which is monitored with ADT, the care service is below standard, and very poor for the fee charged.
There alarm has been malfunctioning since Tuesday, at 10am they called to report and check on fire alarm, which had been going in since 6am.
They had called and left a text and message earlier, helpful...NOT!
Fortunately, no fire or they would have been dead in their bed.
Promised an engineer, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, now Saturday, still no engineer.
Engineer contacted parents on Thursday to advise that his van had been broken down all week and ADT would not allow him to rent one.
My father is in his 80s, and mother is in mid 70s.
This service was supposed to offer complete care and support, to help keep them safe in the event of fire or burglary/home invasions etc.
If looking for a service that is comprehensive, shop around, ask to speak with genuine customers for review.
Would appear if you have enough money as a company, you can buy a certificate.
How do insurance companies recognize the firm for standards, or credibility?
Avoid, avoid, avoid....unless you want your loved ones in harm's way, and having been mugged....
For ADT security info, we are UK based. Also the sub standard service is why the market needs to be better governed and held to account, and fined accordingly.

My cameras haven’t worked since they put them up which was a year ago. The technician came out to fix them and said cameras are not guaranteed to work but don’t tell them that I told you. They won’t let me out of the contract even though their product doesn’t work. Stuck in my contract until it’s up.
Equipment failed within months and order was not completed
I ordered security system with 2 inside cams and 4 outside cams. The technician showed up with only 2 outside cameras. What kind of customer service is that?? So called and said we are so sorry. Made a work order and the technician never showed up. Called back 2 weeks later bc my doorbell quit working. New equipment can’t last a month. 🤔 so they said they would get cameras out and here when they checked it out. Technician just called and said orders were not ordered right and he can’t do nothing after wasting my whole day yet again. How is my house monitored when default equipment and service orders just disappear or not wrote up right. SURE I FEEL PROTECTED AFTER A MONTH OF SERVICE ON A 5 YEAR CONTRACT.

The technology failed after only a year, remote solutions did not work, then engineer repeated failed to turn up and promised calls to make a reliable new appointment were not made. Utterly useless.

I was tricked into signing up for ADT service even though I already have another security service. I cancelled immediately when I realized it was a gimmick. I do not recommend this.
Had the system less then 2 months
Had the system less then 2 months. One door lock has not worked since the day it was installed. We were told we had to call and set up a appointment, after over 2 hours on hold they scheduled us for a appointment so far out it is pointless. All customer service did was tell us we had to speak to someone else, transferred us four times and didn’t solve the problem. Then told us we would be charged a service visit to fix what hasn’t worked since they first installed it. Definitely better options for home security then ADT.

We changed from a competitor to ADT trusting their name and thinking we would be safe in doing so.
We contacted them in December or so of 2021, we knew we had plans to move so we asked all the questions necessary, how much was it to move services knowing we were definitely moving when we found a better home for our family. We were told it was simple they would leave the equipment as it was a selling point for the new owners to sign up. And we would get new equipment at our new place. They warned us that we would need to notify them, and if we didn't sign back up we would be charged for equipment.
We followed every step they told us to. We found our new home, contacted ADT they told us to call them when we were ready to disconnect service on our new home. We had already scheduled with the rep to start the walk through with their rep when he said you need to move fast so they don't charge you for disconnecting. He cancelled thr first consult because he was running late from another appointment and we were last of the day. So we rescheduled for 3 days out. He came in told us we didn't need to take the old equipment confirming the previous reps advice. Our install still wasn't gona happen for a few days, he promised us a free doorbell camera and free additional camera to equate to what we had.
He left and the following day we get hit with $2100 charge. No reason or warning from him. The installer came to our house, confirmed you do not take your old equipment, he has been with ADT 11 years and never transfered equipment ever.
We let him know we got hit with the 2100 and he immediately called his boss and another supervisor to try to get it fixed as he said something it only charges you if you don't sign and get a new contract fast enough.
We were resigning up, we wanted to protect our family from robbery or some other unsafe situation. Little did we know it was ADT ribbing us of our $2100 when they refused to refund the money. Different from either sales rep and their installer, first they said we should have taken our old equipment, next they said we had to pay off the old equipment but that they will transfer over the contract to our new home but equipment was on us. After 7 transfers to their escalation department and refusal to make right the false and misleading information from the sales reps only worried about making the sell, knowing we had plans to move and yet they still upsold us, if the sales rep knew we would get stuck buying equipment 2 times and upsetting both times, 1 knowing we were only going to be there a few months and still get us stuck with thousands in cost is a total ripoff. ADT will never have a decent recommendation from me ever again. I had a customer of mine that worked for ADT for years and bragged how reputable the business was, unfortunately he passed a few years ago. When it came time to shop I always thought about how he felt about the company. Now I feel he would be rolling over in his grave knowing how my family was robbed by the company that was hired to protect my family.
