Stay away from this company please!!! They are nothing but a bunch of crooks. They will tell you anything for you to sign that contract. The salesman came to my house tore my working hard wire system apart for two hours and then came to me and said I needed $2000 worth of equipment. My daughter already called before he even showed up we already knew how much we needed to spend but this guy oversold me. I asked him to leave he would not get out of the house. I put my daughter on the phone, and still the man would not leave. After about the ninth hour and three contracts later, I finally signed it to get them out of the house. I called and canceled and they still are charging me, harassing me . I’ve made over 30 phone calls to get this to go away . You have three days to cancel after you sign their contract. This is been the most horrible experience in my life . They harassed you with phone calls, emails. Please do your research… there’s other companies that are very ethical this company is not.

Equipment is terrible and sends false alerts. They have bad customer service and a 3 year contract that costs a lot to break.

Currently attempting to cancel my sub, note I said "attempt" because it's no easy feat. (and I have PCS military orders!) Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Not exaggerating, I'll spill a couple examples (all of which I can prove if ADT cares to reach out. I'll bet not.) These are just the most recent...
1. My service hasn't worked for months. Hadn't realized since I was away for work (probably the only time I needed them and they failed, but this I could have forgave...It's how they "attempted" to assist. Spoiler: they didn't.). I first tried the chat center. Chat asked for names (I forgot my verbal pass, that's on me) of the people that lived there. I answered. They said the names are not correct and couldn't assist further. I told them my account was still being charged all the while the system was down. ADT: We can't help, they're going to keep charging me but you should be entitled to a refund for unused months. What a dupe I was for believeing them. Oh and now I'm locked out of my account. Tried calling a few times but could never connect or had the time - surely they'll make it right when I get back from work. Nope. I'm literally paying for nothing. Fast forward a couple months I finally managed to get an associate on the phone. This lead to issue 2.
2. They had my address wrong - learned this when I gave my name to which they responded, "Do you think I'm stupid? Person1 and person2 live there." Huge red flag. These were the previous owners... that led to a two hour hold call....so a many transfers to associates just to ask the same questions. Finally someone was willing to talk it out. I ask to cancel for the 4th or 5th time, literally. I'm in a military move. I have orders. ADT responds "actual orders!?".... yes for the hundreth time. She finally stops asking the scripted questions and trying to sell me on my follow on location. Gives me an email and how to submit the cancellation. Just more steps that they could do themselves. I asked to be refunded for the last 4 months it has not been working. ADT chuckled and said that's not a thing. She offered to put me on hold and ask - but at this point I was a defeated man and could no longer spend time on the phone being pawned around and around.
The worst part is I only have 6 months left on the bs contract. I forgave them for ruining the wiring to my doorbell and charging my account while I was deployed for a year (temporarily moved out) and slowly increasing my monthly bills. Installing a motion sensor that never worked. I have to swallow my pride when i admit to people I had been embarrassingly paying into a substandard service. Thanks ADT for a miserable 3 years.
Don't sign up. Use another/any other security service. Spare yourself and bank account the heartache.

Worst customer service ever, had to pay additional for a basic installation issue that was missed for the main entry from the garage door.

This company is only looking for sales!!!! DON'T INVEST IN THIS PLACE FOR PROTECTION. I have had an account with Protection 1 AKA ADT and I had the worst service, not to mention they kept sending me a bill that was already paid and they wanted me to send proof from a "Snapshot" of my bank account to prove that it was paid. NOT only have I always paid my bills on time with this crooked company, but I've also paid three years in advance for another security system that is run by ADT. These folks called and harassed me for weeks before I decided to get corporate on the phone and that didn't even help. I not only paid in advance for my service to this company but I also sent proof of payment and now they want me to "WAIT" to have my account credited. DON'T WASTE your money...and not to mention you have to wait about 2 weeks for a supervisor to contact you and even then the problem doesn't get solved. BIG LIARS and unorganized. If I could give negative-stars I would, it would be more like a MINUS 5 to save taxpayers and citizens money. They're already a billion dollar company that don't give quality service. Like the saying goes, "you get what you pay for"
Difficulties in closing an ADT account
We have had an account with ADT for the past eleven years. The service has been fine, and there were no problems until, three years ago, we added security cameras to the system.
There were lots of issues with the cameras involving distance to our router, obstructions, intemittency, etc. Over the last three years we have updated our WIFI system, replaced the router, relocated cameras and installed 'repeaters', all at the advice of several ADT and Protection 1 technicians. Over that span of time we had scheduled fourteen visits from these technicians, who were all professional and easy to work with. But the cameras never worked.
After researching the competition, we gave 'RING" a try. I installed their equipment and there we no issues. It worked, right out of the box !
In late 2021 I called ADT and communicated with an ADT 'account managent specialist', Amber Wedel. I expressed to her our decison to cancel our account. Here is the text of an email to Amber Wedell, dated 1.13.2022:

Thank you so much for the proposal. But after due consideration, we would like you to go ahead and cancel our present coverage with you.
As you must recognize, there are pluses and minuses with all our various options. We have elected to go with a single system that would give us the kind of camera coverage we need. Thank you so much.
We need to know what to do with the existing ADT hardware. I have removed the control box and other items. Do you want them returned?

For the last six months I have been getting daily.... somtimes twice daily... harassing calls from ADT about our overdue bill on that account.
On 5.21.2022 I emailed, again, to Amber Wedel. Here is the text of that email.

Please see above email dated January 14th 2022 in which I confirm that I wanted my ADT account canceled.
In this email, I also asked what to do about our existing hardware. You did not respond to this question. Because of the passage of time, I have disposed of the hardware. It is no longer an issue.
In my attempts to contact you I've tried several of the numbers I was told would connect me with ADT. None of the numbers were valid including the one at the bottom of your reference email.
I am hoping that this will put an end to the continuing requests for payment, which have become a form of harassment. Please confirm that you received this email.

Maybe, just maybe, someone at ADT will read this and help me to get this account closed without further expense. In any event, it's been cathartic to write this out and vent my feelings about a company I have become very disappointed with.

If I could give Adt nothing/NO STARS I would!!!! This has been the worst experience I have ever had with Adt!!! I have had adt out to my house three different time maybe four I have stop counting. Thinking each time they will have it right. From giving me reasons as to why they were late to I can’t install bc this is not on my order. And if I want that i would have to call and get another order and service person. Not matter how many times I have explained to customer service before ordering the service. And ALMOST each time they say customer service did not know what they were saying and each time the technician wanted to upsale me on equipment they placed in the home for the previous person I bought the house from. Which they discounted the service just days before I called them out to reconnect. I had two technicians that were absolutely rude. I could not understand why adt would have this type of service: person working for them. Trying to upscale me on something I don’t need, products which works PERFECTLY FINE a few days prior to you arriving, now I need all new equipment. Must I say each person said something completely different. And said if they use the existing items! Adt could not warranty nor if their was a break in and the it’s not on adt bc they were to the old owners and adt don’t know if these items work(YOU JUST DISCONNECTED THESE A FEW DAYS AGO). So the last person was not PROTECTED?!!! They had defaulted products in their home???!! But I must say the 2nd person was not so bad, but still couldn’t get the service bc I need more things that I didn’t ask for. I MEAN THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH THEM!!!! And each time I informed customer service I will be leaving the country and I need my house protected!!! Needless to say bc I kept putting my trust in ADT AND THE NON-SATISFACTORY CUSTOMER!!! My Home have a still not protected!!!! And I put off going with another company bc I was FOOLISH enough to think ADT would get this together. SILLY RABBIT TRICKS ARE FOR KIDS!!!
Time to update
I've been with the company 8yrs the the rep said. Which isn't close more like over 18. Pulse activity's report show radio and network problems started back May 3, 2022. Resolved Jun 25. Why was billing only refunding me for 4 days, I was without coverage for weeks without knowing it.

If I could less than one star I would. This is the worst customer service company in the entire country. I have been a LOYAL, BILL PAYING customer for four years, and since I sold my three properties, I needed to cancel my three accounts. THREE HOURS ON THE PHONE! Come on guys--you have to do better. Fire everyone and start over--it would be an improvement. Horrible, and i mean horrible service. And I don't care if I move to the worst crime area, I would not use ADT for my security system.

Pire service jamais expérimenté. J'ai dû résilier mon contrat après 2 ans (sur un contrat de 3 ans) puisque je déménageais en condo. Chaque fois que j'appel ile me parlent de contrat de 5 ans, même si je leur ai envoyé une copie du contrat de 3 ans que j'ai signé.
J,ai trouvé une personne pour faire un transfère de responsabilité, mais ils exigeaient que la personne signe pour 3 ans un nouveau contrat donc la personne a refusé. On m'a ensuite proposé un rabais sur le montant de résiliation, ce que j'ai fini par accepter pour avoir la paix! Et bien j'ai reçu ma facture aujourd'hui, non seulement sans aucun rabais appliqué, mais pour un contrat de 5 ans encore et non 3 ans...
Maintenant, lorsque j'essaie de les appeler, on me met en attente et étrangement la ligne raccroche toujours à chaque fois. Impossible de leur parler.

Unauthorized Charges
Absolutely horrible company. We have used ADT for our business for several years and decided to install their equipment in our home as well. In the one year that we've had them for residential use, they've tried to charge us for wiring that they did wrong, had multiple issues with the app, they never understood simple concepts about changes we wanted to make when moving, and charged me (without authorization--we hadn't even spoken to them in days) $1,000 for no reason. It's now been over one month, and after calling them several times, they still haven't reversed the charge even though they admitted that it was a mistake. The only reason we still use them is because they fight us on ending the contract. Our years of working with them prior meant nothing, they do not care about customers. Such a mistake and waste of money. Truly cannot believe they would take $1k out of my bank account with zero authorization or notice. You'd think it would be illegal to do so...

I have had the worst experiences with their technicians! They have been out 4 times and still haven’t fixed my issues! First guy was clueless and put in another work order for another technician to come out the next week. I set there as he wrote in exactly what I needed but when the other technician arrived he just did the same exact thing the other technician did. He didn’t bring any of the items that was on the work order so of course he couldn’t fix it and scheduled another day to come out. He came later than scheduled and I was about to leave when he finally showed up but he still was unable to fix my camera then thought he was going to to charge me for another camera when I only had that one less than 5 months but I refused! He finally said the one that was installed was a bad one and scheduled to come back out again with a new better one according to him well it took him hours to get it right only to mess up the other 2 when I noticed they were working before he was about to leave then later realized neither was recording. They better not charge me for anything bc I refuse to pay for services that I am not receiving and at this point I no longer want to deal with them! I would not recommend using ADT Security Services
Bye to ADT after 25 years!!!
I have been an ADT customer for over 25 plus years. This last experience threw those 25 years right out the window. I was lied to by service reps and managers over a 2 months process. They debited my personal checking account $987 for a “termination fee” that was not warranted and it’s been over a month and I have not yet seen a refund. I cancelled service at my old address and started new service at my new address but for some reason the cancellation caused a “termination fee” to be generated. An agent told me it would be 24-48 hours for a refund then a manager told me 3-7 days followed by another manager who told me 15-30 days. This erroneous charge caused an over draft in my account as well. So here it is 30 plus days and no refund yet, no over draft refund and ABSOLUTELY NO COMPENSATION OR FOLLOWUP FROM THEM!!!
Try to hard sell their products on the door step
I don't use the service, but their sales tactics are very pushy and they do the hard sell. We only moved into our house 2 months ago, and since then we've had 5 letters in the post, and yesterday 2 sales guys came to the door, twice, after we didn't answer the first time (working from home), and knocked and rang the doorbell for 5 minutes. They then returned at 7:30pm and tried again. Right now, I'd pay for an ADT sales person deterrent!
JUNK DO NOT GO TO ADT have had ADT for 9 months
I have had ADT for 9 months. over 100 per month for equipment and monitoring. The system is always off line. I have 4 exterior cameras and a video door bell. I have fire, smoke, and burglar sensors on doors and windows as well as interior motion detectors. The system does not work most of the time. Have had 2 tech visits to repair. Waiting on 3rd visit in 9 months. Down to 1 exterior camera that works at all. Attempted to terminate contract, have ADT pick up equipment to go to a local alarm company with good service and reputation and got no where.
I have a 3 year contract that expires in 2024 ADT wants to hold me to even though their equipment does'nt work. Terrible customer service. If you need help be prepared to sit on hold for over a half hour and then be bounced around to different departments. If you get to a person it will be days before a technician can get out to repair thier equipment. DO NOT GO WITH ADT
Worst service ever
Since we returned to ADT, the company has not been able to provide a fit and functioning system which invalidates our insurance.
If ADT would check your records, you will see the continuing complaints and error reports which are still not being resolved. My team and I have spent many hours on your service line waiting for your engineers to sort the issue out.
When someone finally arrives, the system is restored temporarily, for the system to fail again after a few weeks. As you can see, we have not been able to use the alarm for the last few months and our insurance has now put an ultimatum to leave ADT and switch to another company whose system is reliable.
Having discussed this issue with ADT competitors and other venue providers, we understand that ADT are in breach of your contractual terms and conditions, as you are not being able to maintain our alarm system inline with my insurance requirements, i.e. not fit for purpose.

I wish I had read these reviews before signing up! My system went down a week ago and the service is bad. The first person said I did something and it’ll reboot in 2minutes. Then she got off the phone and nothing happened in 2 minutes!
I called back and the wait time is long. It’s difficult to get up the energy to call them because it can be an ordeal. They couldn’t get a service person to me until today. The time was 8-9 am. No one showed up! I called. Didn’t understand the vague excuse. No one called to tell me anything. Now I have to wait until Friday. Nine days with the system down.
Will they show up on Friday? The suspense is killing me!
Uncommunicative Bullies
I moved house and called to cancel my contract in August 2021. I continued to be billed until February 2022. I spent hours in the phone to resolve it and was promised it would be sorted. The billing stopped but there was no sign of a refund.
I contacted them again through a web form to follow up. 1 week later I got a letter from a courier demanding Final Payment for an unpaid bill. How can the first notice be the Final Notice? Turns out this was for a piece of replacement equipment sent to me in 2020.
I called to get this resolved and sent an email to the representative. Then after a week of silence I got an email from Baycorp chasing the debt, plus admin fees.
Absolutely disgraceful customer service.
My advice - do not do business with this company. They seem to have no customer service processes in place and are uncommunicative bullies.

I got a security system from them that was supposed to record a security camera feed 24/7 .. and after months I checked the recordings and I was shocked as there was nothing but the video recorded on the day of the installation!.. it got nothing after that! ..

and when I moved to a new house and found that there's a security system already installed there.. they charged me termination fees.. along with other fees that came out of nowhere!

He was here Friday when he left my cameras went out again. As for cameras they lied to me told me would be here today 5 th July so took Another day off they called one hour to 4. Appointment was 12-4. An canceled. ADT are absolutely hopeless
It is impossible to describe just how bad ADT customer service is. I have dealt with some really bad customer service over the years, but ADT are in a league of their own. Completely useless, unhelpful, and uncooperative. "We don't have an engineer available or know how to silence your ADT system, so call Environmental Health".

Do NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT under any circumstance get into a contract with this grim reaper company. It is as if you are selling your soul to them PERMANENTLY and signing your life away LITERALLY. For TWO months I have been trying to cancel the contract my father mistakenly signed with them for subpar, nonexistent "security services". My father passed away. I sent them the death certificate as proof, yet these insensitive tyrants refused to accept it as proof, quibbling about its readability. These tyrants had ZERO sensitivity in this matter. Not only do I have to go through the grieving process and close my father's other affairs, I have to deal with a security company still charging my father's account?! What security does a dead person need?! Not even the credit card companies require proof of death because they can look it up themselves! Shame on these intolerant gestapos! AVOID AT ALL COST.

Absolutely fed up with adt. Had so many false alarms. Keep getting technicians out but the problems never get resolved. Customer services are robotic in their response and can’t elevate the problem. I wish I’d seen the reviews on trustpilot before I bought the system
