Horrible company. I’ve been with them 18 years. I tried to cancel service four times due to moving to an apartment. Had to hang up multiple times because it took so long, finally after 40 minutes I get a hold of someone that’s talking on the speakerphone they could barely understand. Horrible company would never ever use again. Took me three different people just to get to summon cancel

Horrible. Constantly run out of space despite adding more. CS sucks. Technicians suck. Recording rules suck. Certain areas of property don't record for absolutely no reason despite my adjustments, tech visits and CS calls. Alerts come too late. Website sucks. Not a single good thing to say.
No Longer Reputable
Normally, I write positive reviews because accidents happen even with trusted brands, and I give everyone a chance to get it right. Unfortunately, the problem with ADT Home Alarm System (ADT.com Security company) is the ADT brand is solely functioning off their past prestigious brand name, & past excellent customer service reputation. I was a customer for several years through our military career & after. Since retiring we were blessed to purchase a luxury home valued well over $500,000. Naturally, we elected to remain with the trusted brand which we were already supporting. We found the branches in our new area seriously requires cultural diversity training. ADT has changed! The change is KILLING the brand. The new business plan the once trusted company has is innately a perpetual loop where customer's will never see complete resolve because the upper echelon managers are apparently sovereign! ADT investor's, consumers, stockholders, & stakeholders will experience extraordinarily drastic fluctuations in their investment due to their faulty business plan. For example, when we first relocated, the local ADT offices kept calling us like we were new customers they were fighting the other local office for. Then, Carl Nash sent under qualified installers to our house, & Carl Nash insisted on giving me lesser quality devices than what I had already prepaid for. Carl Nash did not mention the devices were lesser quality devices & cheaper than what I paid. Instead Carl Nash said it's the same thing & I "don't need anything better anyway." I complained to the corporate office off & on for years, patiently waited for ADT to fulfill their end of our contract. I upgraded from 4 cameras to 8 cameras for full coverage of my property & land. ADT cancelled my services instead of getting a qualified installer from the area we came from who had previously properly installed our system in our new house in 2018. In 2019 We upgraded, shortly afterwards the system crashed, but everything was insured. Carl Nash, the local office upper management, seemed upset to replace everything. Carl Nash kept quoting the price of all our equipment, quiring why I needed all the advanced cameras & DVR, & tried to convince me to accept lesser quality devices at the same price I already prepaid. It was a struggle working with Carl Nash. Carl Nash stated, "I'm giving you $$$,$$$ worth of equipment, you could buy something." I informed Carl Nash I am already a customer, I have everything I need & you're not giving me anything because everything is insured with ADT. Carl Nash sent installers to our house fully aware of our needs, & fully aware the representatives he kept sending did not have the ability to connect our devices. Carl Nash promised if we encountered any further issues of not having a qualified installer to connect our service, he would come to our house & connect us directly! Instead, Carl Nash never showed up, continued to send the wrong installers & then disconnected our service falsely claiming we didn't pay for our services. We not only prepaid as contractually obligated, we continuously paid in good faith that everything would be resolved & payment would be adjusted. We found further paying for years gave ADT amnesia to connect our service as contractually obligated. The ADT system constantly called our house stating we were not receiving service (the system automatically pings to test the equipment is functioning), never connected no one helped. They simply put us in the system as customers who don't pay & disconnected us without refund whilst making us pay even more money with the promise from ADT corporate office was still working on getting it fixed. Then, ADT kept calling me as if I was a new customer in the area. Now, ADT is asking me for more money once again, & once again making claims to resolve this 3 year old problem with no true intent to do more than get another contract signed & get money from me without fulfilling their part of the contract. As long as ADT managers can behave like they are sovereign, & have no accountability for poor business acumen, ADT will continue to be a terrible investment for all parties! We are still government & military affiliated. We're sad to report this 3 year old problem is more like the new norm in business for ADT. I strongly advise avoiding ADT in every manner of investment, home security, etc. patronage, & future business endeavors. Once ADT learned how to swindle people as though they have honest intentions of conducting desirable business, ADT made a business plan & model of the trick. Then ADT used lawyer's to have the wayward business plan well supported legally (within the fine print). Unbeknownst to the majority public, ADT is a dying brand for good reason.

ADT is an absolute worst company. I am not sure why I even signed up with them. Holding hostage for a cancelation and asking to pay service when not used. THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST. ON TOP OF IT THE CUSTOMER REP JUST TRANSFERED AND DISAPPEARED.

DON'T DO IT. I was in the Navy for 14 years and have moved more than 20 times in my life and NEVER have I been charged a $1,500.00 cancellation fee. I've never hear of such a thing and the only way to avoid it was to sign another 3 year contract for $40 a month which is the same thing, just in a payment plan. I've never regretted signing on the bottom line so much in my life. I take some responsibility because I'm sure there was something in my contract that said there would be a fee, but I'm 100% sure it didn't say $1,500.00. So much for taking care of your customers.
RESPONSE: If you would have read my submission you would have known that I acknowledge that the cost was in my contract, and that my name is Angel, not Angela. Your standard reply just emphasizes my point, ADT's goal is to strengthen their bottom line, not take care of their customer. If it was, they would understand that most people don't buy a house and then sell 4 months later. Work happens, health happens, family happens and ADT should be able to work with that, not require an additional three year long contract for a system that can't even be used.

The sales rep tried his best to get me to sign a new 1 year contract by promising new monitor and by moving existing one to a different location with everything for free. Once everything was done… they hit me up with a bill for more than $1300 and when I complained…. It took over a month to resolve and numerous calls for which each time …costumer service in accounting said I need to pay because it took more than 3 hours for the technician to finish, when I was only calling to see when they will fix this bc it has already been settled that they shouldn’t have charged me (contract) . They also said someone will call to discuss this, which no one did, and they did not remove the full amount by leaving a $59 charge. When I called today to see what this charge was… they said it was travel charge for the technician… when it was supposed to be free. I am sick and tired of calling these guys and hearing lies. After this year… I’m out.

The technician came to install 3 outside cameras, 2 inside motion detectors and all windows and doors. He was in a hurry all day because he had an appointment and had to leave by 4pm. We'll, he never installed the motion detector at all. The one he hung, wasn't connected to the panel. The front doorbell camera wasn't connected to my phone. The outside front camera was hung too low and wasn't properly configured and was picking up every car driving down the street. Disaster. When I called him to have him come back to finish the job, he said he would but never showed up. After speaking with a supervisor, they sent another technician a week later. He has a nasty attitude and he didn't know what he was doing, so after he argued with me, he had to ask for help on the phone. Bad attitude. Then I get a bill for $180 bucks for the second visit - which was never done right the first time. I regret the day I called ADT. DO NOT USE ADT.

I wish I'd read the reviews, ADT salesman without doubt missold us out alarm system, he was not truthfull about its functions which we found out after i finished the contract which was more than he stated and for longer. The alarm is now useless and I have now installed another after spending nearly £1000.00 on contract and installation with ADT, they never came an serviced it as stated, and when I called to ask why, they blamed it on covid. When I called on Monday just gone before I ripped it out to see if they would help us us, I got absolutely no service at all. I run my own business and if my staff lost me customers like this individual has and others looking at the reviews, very best of luck to them, as they will need it. What the individual on the phone should have been saying to a customer who called for help, is, let me see what we can do to get you sorted Mr ..... but all I got was well sir that's upto you what you do, absolutely unbelievable, look elsewhere guys don't waste your money like I have

This company has been ripping me off for over a year. They sent me faulty equipment and they didn't even send me enough alarms for all my doors and windows so if you have no alarms on several windows and doors now is that a security system??? They have refused to send me any replacements. They refuse to replace the faulty equipment and harassed me on a daily basis to make my payments. They also never told me that this is a three-year contract that I cannot get out of even if I sell my house. I am turning them into the Better Business Bureau. You are crazy if you sign up for this once they suck you win you will never get out!

this is the worst company i’ve ever dealt with! Hooked us up with the whole package, cameras, sensors, alarm and after TWO MONTHS the cameras stopped working we called and were told that it would be a 150 dollar fee to have someone come out and fix them, so we tried ourselves over the phone with the technician- she didn’t know anything and it was the blind leading the blind. then they came out charged us just to tell us that we needed new cameras. we were suprised after two months? really ok. we agreed so we set up another appointment- no one showed. we called again they were “extremely apologetic” but stood up for a second time. after NUMEROUS phone calls and NUMEROUS dead end customer service conversations we asked to have everything cancelled and our money refunded for the months we paid where the equipment wasn’t working. they have YET to come get there stuff and refund us our money after breaking the contract on their end. and still have been sending us a bill. you get no where with these people. they should be put out of business it is extremely unprofessional and it’s a scam!!! do not use them don’t get sucked into their trap our stuff hasent worked for 8months!!!!!!
ADT Don’t keep their word
ADT came to our house and offered hey system that we excepted. About a week later the representative came out to install the system and everything went fine until they broke the water line to our fire system. It completely flooded the garage and everything in it. They promised that they had insurance it would have their adjuster get a hold of us immediately. This is now the third day and they have yet to return our phone call while everything in the garage that was wet by the accident that they created is deteriorating. At this point I believe their system is working well with the customer service is absolutely inadequate. For this reason I would never recommend ADT as they do not keep their word.

Don't fall for their false sales pitch and false advertisement. I moved to Chicago and got the service for my apt. Their hub doesn't work and they told me to upgrade my wifi, which I did, I got the fastest Wifi by AT&T and on top of that I got a Wifi Extender as well. Called their tech support 5 times and they couldn't help. I called to cancel and their options are nothing but REDICULUS. If you have extra money in your pocket and want to waste, sure, go with them! If you have value for your money be careful with their false advertisement.

Steer clear of the scam of a company!! I’m about to hit you with all the facts of the nightmare we have experienced so buckle up. I received a phone call from a guy named Dave Cottle wanting to know if there was anything they could do to keep our business. I think it’s a scam so I disregard as I’ve not been made aware that anything is wrong with our service. Then I get a letting one the mail stating we have a balance of $3,000+!!! Talk about my heart dropping to my stomach. So I immediately find the voicemail from Dave and call and see what is going on. After going through the details with him it seems our expiration date didn’t get updated in their system and we were never made aware of it until 151 days later!! He assured me this is not my fault and he is going to take care of us. I let him know there’s no way we can pay that up front and come to find out it was $1,454.53 that was overdue for the equipment (the NEVER worked properly for months at a time). He came to our house and we worked out a way to have the balance decided up into payment plans as I had opted to do previously. I asked about why I didn’t get any notice prior to 151 days past due and his response was that ADT doesn’t do that. They just continue to bill. Well…he needed to charge is $25 to have the technician come out and reinstall our service and go over everything to make sure it was working properly (as our at arm had gone off multiple times without receiving the 1st phone call. So I then find out we have not been monitored as we had thought all along!! After giving him our card info we didn’t receive a $25 charge but received a $1,453.52 charge! I immediately called Dave and he said he was reaching out to his manager Steve. Steve calls me and said it would be taken care of and it was not supposed to happen. He said to give them 3-5 business days. I wait the days and there’s still no refund. Dave reaches out to me and wants to setup install as ADT had done everything he wanted them to do. I told him ok that sounds good. Never hear about setting up install. 7days pass and I’m still seeing no refund. He is telling me he can see everything has been approved we’re just waiting on business days. More days pass. Show manager Steve is called into the situation again and is EUDE and I’m seen as an inconvenience at this point and calls me a liar for quoting his 3-5days and he says it takes 10-14 days. I wait and still nothing. I message Dave and he’s on vacation and gives me an 800 number to call and speak to billing!! I call and after over an hr find out that nothing was ever approved and that we will not be getting our money back. I have messaged Dave and he has ghosted me. He came back in town 2 days ago and never called it txt back as I’m going through and doing everything he promised he would do. He has not taken care of us he has SCAMMED us and is just a debt collector for ADT when it was THEIR mistake all along for letting an account go with expired card information for over 151 days. I am currently disputing the charge with my bank. I have uploaded all the txt messages I have between Dave Cottle promising me a refund and I wish I had the proof of him calling his company a “F*** up”. Dave Cottle is a liar and a cheater to get what he needed done. He promised to take care of this for us and instead went on a nice long vacation while I fought to get our hard earned money back that was TAKEN from us without warning. Dave and Steve…I hope you sleep well knowing what you have put me and my family through. If you made it through all of this I have proof of the lies and the deceit this company is. Run for the hills when it comes to ADT. They don’t care about you or your security.

I just called to cancel my service for personal reasons. The representative was very rude. He insulted my intelligence more than once. He acted as if I knew nothing. He didn’t sound friendly or welcoming. And where he could have possibly kept me as a customer he lost me because of his attitude. He didn’t even offer anything to get me to stay. He was more concerned about why I was canceling as if he was gonna have to pay my remaining balance. People have to right to cancel services without being belittled.
LIARS! SIX MONTH MONEY BACK GUARANTEE IS A LIE!
In April 2001, a representative from ADT out of the Greenville South Carolina office sold us three business camera systems which she touted the 6 month satisfaction guarantee. The three systems were installed on April 22, 2021 at a cost of $3196. When the technicians were installing the cameras in the office, I told them that the dome cameras do not have good resolution and will not work at night. I was told that if we’re not satisfied, they will come back out and change them out. So they installed all three systems with these garbage cameras. I already knew they don’t work at night because we have them at our home in Florida. Ironically we had an incident in front of the office at night and of course the sheriff could not identify the perpetrator because of the poor resolution. So hence started the communication in May with the Greenville office. I went back-and-forth and back-and-forth to no avail. I printed off all of the text communications from May 11, 2021 until July 28, 2021 which are attached to this letter. They refused to come out and do anything with the cameras. Their excuse one time was it was raining however they never called to reschedule the appointment. Someone called me and said that for another $250 per camera that they would install the new cameras to see if they would work. My answer was I’m not paying another $3000 to see if a system may work when I had a 6 month satisfaction guarantee and I had told them that the dome cameras would not work when they were installing them. They actually admitted that they had had problems with the dome cameras. So they admitted that but still installed them anyway. They never came back out to fix anything and I never got any resolution. I went through Anja at the loyalty department and got nowhere. I had been requesting for them to come and take the systems out for months however they refused to do so. I told them a few weeks ago that the business was being sold on April 20, 2022 which it did and that they needed to come get the three systems out. There was an appointment scheduled for Monday, April 11 between 8-5. I asked them to call me prior to the appointment date to narrow the timeframe down. The man left me a voicemail on the 11th claiming he had called my managers numbers and no one was around which was completely false because they had no missed calls or voicemails from ADT. We rescheduled the appointment for Tuesday, April 19 the day before closing between 1 and 5. A gentleman called me around 1 and said that he could not take the systems out because they were still under contract. So I called customer service and had them notate the account that the business was sold and ADT refused to come and get the cameras out like I had been requesting for months and that I am not going to be responsible for the condition of the equipment from the new owner removing the cameras as well as if they can be located if need be.
We had service at two residents in Florida one for four years and the other for five years and I just canceled both of those yesterday. Good job ADT!

Honestly where do I begin.. to keep it short. Our business was broken into, alarm never went off.. when i tried to call ADT about it till today I'm still trying to get at-least some sort of answer as to why? 4 WEEKS AFTER ROBBED) they refuse to connect me to a supervisor, they are now trying to sell me a new system, while I've been paying them for over 5 years for their service only to see that when i actually get broken into and robbed the system did not work. THEY SUCK BIG TIME NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. NOT ONLY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT ALL REPS ARE SARCASTIC AND RUDE. ONE EVEN COMPARED MY SITUATION TO A ICE CREAM SHAKE, SAYING THAT IF HE BOUGHT IT TRIED AT AND DIDNT LIKE IT HE COULD NOT RETURN IT BECAUSE HE TREID IT. UNBELIEVABLE! We are a long term client of ADT, The Girl in Customer Service had a very bad attitude and was very very very rude.

My experience with this company is beyor horrible. The rep promised something for a price that was never delivered. I was charged a different price, way over, twice. After, I tried to get a refund for almost 3 months. Different amounts were promised while they continued to bill different amounts as well. I had contracted their service because I was out of the country for 2 months. The anxiety they caused me while abroad was unbelievable since they bombarded me with different bills. I tried to communicate via email to different managers. Eventually they wouldn't even respond. Finally, I came back and decide to cancel. Also, contacted my credit card, Capital One, and they agreed and charged back. Later they refund one the amounts which Capital One refunded back to them. They since then continue to request the second amount which I refuse to pay. They put me through hell. They never delivered what I was promised. Their billing department cannot be trusted. Now I'm in collections but I refuse to pay. They're predators. Be careful.
