ADT treatment is like Covid
From the first day the system was installed it was a mess. Then we bought our own home and wanted to move the system, I called the moving team and they said someone will be incontact with me, no one called, I the raised a complaint and got a phone call from ADT regional manager Tom in Australia. He promised me we would be looked after... 2 months on and in our new home... nothing. If I could give a -star I would.
ADT worst company ever
One star is too much for them. Last year I signed up for ADT. Their system for some reason kept reversing my credit card payments. After 3 months of paying manually, they charged out the equipment. I talked to multiple customer service reps amd supervisors that noted on my acct and advised me that there was an issue with their easy pay reversing my autopays out. They were unable to fix it and advised me the system was noted and to just continue to make monthly manual payments , which I did and have record of. ON March 30, they canceled my service and charged out over 1500.00 to me saying I breached contract. I did not, I made the payments the way they told me and made them every month. I tried to resolve it with company since I did what I was advised to do but they refused. I asked they reverse the charges so I could continue manual monthly payments as agreed. I filed a complaint with the BBB providing proof of the payments I had made until they charged out the 1500. ADTs response was they would not correct it and wanted the full over 1500 upfront. I'm in the process of filing a consumer affairs complaint. They are the worst!

100% dissatisfied with ADT
100% dissatisfied with ADT. I've had 3 different techs over 3 weeks to complete my install and it's still not complete. ADT service techs have completely lied and have been caught on the doorbell camera. I tried to cancel ADT and was told that I would have to pay an early termination fee...even though they can't seem to get my install completed. I am getting the complete runaround. I switched from Vivint to ADT...apparently that was a HUGE mistake!!!

I had Viviant, I changed to ADT a few months ago. The installer of my new system was horrible. He left my place a mess. Unused wires, instructions, furniture moved and left. My cameras were left pointing at the wall, at night it’s just a blur. I can’t arm the system from the panel, only my phone. The window sensors keep falling off. I was calling and calling for a month. ADT told me they would get someone out to look at it, that never happened. ADT kept redirecting me to there freelance installer. Once the three month mark hit, ADT told me they will take care of it for a fee. I’ve paid over $2000 dollars and my system is still defective. The worst system and experience I’ve had 🤬

This company is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. They promise one thing and then deliver a whole different thing. They promise one price and then charge you something different. I would highly recommend avoiding this company.
Had a sales rep come to my house today
Had a sales rep come to my house today, no appointment set, uninvited. But we still let him in because we just bought the house and wanted to get info so we could compare. We had no intentions of buying today, and we said that multiple times. We wanted to discuss our options then give them a call back. The rep said he does not have business cards. Then the sales rep says he needs to call his boss just so he knows that he did relay the info to us. Totally bill…I do sales and know This tactic. While on the phone with his boss, he says well don’t worry about it, I’ll just give it to their neighbors. Well I’m sorry but that smart comment right there just totally sealed our commitment with their competitor. To come to my house unexpectedly and not invited then get mad cause I didn’t commit to buying their service is totally unprofessional and frankly childish. Now I don’t care if they offered me a service free for year that jerk made me never want to deal with ADT ever again.
Shoddy customer care
I arranged for my mother to have her alarm system upgraded as we were switching telephone lines. She has been with ADT for some 30 years. The salesman was brilliant as was the engineer who came to install. It then all went downhill. There is an issue with the alarm. I am constantly calling the service desk since the beginning of last week. No one knows when they can help us. My mother is 85 with mobility issues and she is having to go through this anguish. The customer experience is rubbish - lack of communication between departments with each person saying they have no power to do anything and pass the buck. I am astonished and dismayed. The house is not protected and therefore is ADT’s problem. I have raised it as a formal complaint. The answer I have been given is that it’s been escalated but they have no idea when anyone can call. They hope it’s soon. Is that really customer service? I also question whether you have any regard to the Equality Act. It’s a ghastly experience. I would never wish this on anyone!! I am still waiting for someone to help

Outcome:
No deposit shows on contract and a was given a 60 month Contract!
I am 82 years old and no one can tell me why:
ADT contracts in Albuquerque are 3 years and I was given 5 year contract.
I was told no contract just month to month. Always a contract for new customers then month to month
I had to prepay for equipment upfront.
I got a COVID special and no one knows what that was.

ADT installed in November it took till Jan to get assistance on the outside camera that had to be replaced. The installer was so very unprofessional and extremely rude. He complained about coming out, doing his job, how he was being paid, the fact that we are older and not in shape to hang off a latter outside to troubleshoot and disassemble our outside camera and take it in ourselves then on his way out he removed our secure settings so when people enter our property the alarm will not activate unless we arm the outside too. Now it's May and all this time our equipment runs but that's it. It does not record. It just looks good. I was so humiliated I decided not to even bother calling back but last night our granddaughters bike was stolen. Had our outside camera we pay for worked, it may have been different. Guess we'll never know. I decided not to pay ADT and use that money and the money for the bill next month also to pay to replace her bicycle. I feel that's fair under the circumstances. They agreed to provide service, we agreed to pay for service. We keep paying but they consistently do not provide.

Just getting over the shock of having to pay $1,200, cancellation fee. We had to sell our house in FL and move back to UK. Did not realise this clause nor would you ever think this, should you need to cancel. Absolute day light robbery.
Had an Email from ADT. UPDATE As my buyer has kept the ADT system, they are refunding me. Such a surprise, thank-you.

i have had no alarm in my house for 8 days now, 3 times i was told an engineer would come and sort it out and they never did. i have now been told an engineer will come but they dont know when so to stay by my phone for eternity waiting for the call. i have 18 month left on my contract but will be cancelling it on Tuesday. i will not be paying any fines as ADT are in breach of their contract and are not providing the service i have paid for. Been a customer for 18yrs and now I'm retiring and selling my house, up to this point the service was good no complaints till now. My bill is due 30 Apr so I canx it on the 26th before my final bill, well because I'm not transferring it to another address (RVs have no fixed address when traveling) they are charging me till may 26th even though I'm not using it, so its like being charged extra because your leaving them.
Requested same system as in previous home
We moved and wanted the same system in our new home. The new system and technology would not work as our previous system operated. Called customer service several times, what a joke to get someone on the phone. Had the system removed and was left with holes in my wall and glue on doors. They will tell you anything to sell you the system but will do nothing when it does not perform as stated. Buy a Blink system from Amazon and save yourself a ton of headaches.

Thieves! Dishonest! Adt did not inform me my alarm would stop being monitored in February when Att turns off 3g. My keybad and alarm appeared to work all the way in April until one Saturday my keypad wouldnt work and I called them and was informed my service stopped working in Febraury, despite them taking my money each month. They said they would send a cellular bridge that would fix the problem. Customer service placed a 2 month credit on my account. Ultimately the cellular bridge they sent me did not work because I do not have home internet. The system Ive had from 9 years of being a legacy Lifeshield customer was cellular only. I called to request they disconnect my service and issue a refund for the credit on my account. The extremely dishonest man I spoke with said I will not receive a refund even though he sees I have that credit for them stealing my money while not having a system that worked for 2 months and when I asked to speak to a manager repeatedly refused.

I sold my home in Rhode Island on February 25th. I received a call from a representative who saw my home listed and offered to transfer my service to my new residence. I declined and asked him to cancel my service as of February 25th. I am on autopay. He said he would take care of it. In March my checking account was debited for my monthly payment. I called and was advised that the cancelation had not occurred and that it would take 30 days from the March date for cancelation to take place!!!! It didn't take 30 days to get it installed!!! Now it's April 25th and again my checking account was debited for the $47 monthly fee!!! Phoned again. Spoke to rep who said the cancelation was in process?!?! Asked for supervisor and she transferred me back into the call queue!!!!
I am furious!!!! I am now on hold again, listening to how important I am and how great ADT is!!

On 04/18/22. System stopped working.
Called adt I was on hold.for 20 minutes.
They tried to assist me no success. Called the installer wouldn't return my call.
Called back adt to cancel my service was on hold 35 mints then when someone answered they pot me on hold and transfer me to cancelation debt.

So far this the worst business I've ever worked with of any kind. I have ptsd from two tours in Iraq and security is important to me. Ever since day 1 I signed up with adt my doorbell camera hasn't worked and I've waited for a electrician from adt so they can hook up the rest of my equipment. So I don't have everything but what I do have doesn't work and I'm paying for all of it. I called to see if I can wait to start my bill until I get all of my equipment and the rest works but apparently they don't do that and said I have to continue to pay for broken a equipment, equipment I don't have yet and a service I don't have yet and they said I can try to call when it's all fixed and see about a partial credit back. Why am I paying for stuff I don't have and stuff that doesn't work? If you have a business you provide a service and if you don't provide that service you don't get paid. This makes no sense and affects my sleep having no security and severe ptsd. Not to mention this is so important to me my only income is disability and I'm still willing to use that money for security so I can sleep at night and not hallucinate because I volunteered to fight for my country and I can't even get security back home. This is horrible false advertisement that's put my safety and mental health in jeopardy. I was promised security doorbell alerts facial recognition not to mention everything else I ordered. You don't treat Veterans this way and wonder why so many commit suicide. You people belong in prison
Greedy company collecting money for no services in return!
When we purchased our new home in January of 2020 we were approached by ADT and decided to use their services. Fast forward 2 years and we have sold that house and purchased another in a gated community deciding not to transfer ADT to our new home and called and cancelled the service.
So, ADT continues to bill and charge my credit card so I contacted them expecting to be told I had used a partial month and had to pay for the whole month. Which would be a normal practice in my mind. Then I discovered that I had signed, to my surprise, a 3 year no cancellation contract and I was liable for the additional 11 months of the unused time. I was expected to pay them and get nothing in return, awesome business model for keeping your customers happy!
In an industry with countless competitors who advertise you can cancel at any time ADT seems to stand out as a money hungry profiteering organization who is definitely not concerned with dissatisfied customers. I guess they assume that conversations about "who did you use" and "what do you think about them" don't happen.
Word of mouth can cost you far more customers than you can imagine. I do hope ADT is happy about taking money and giving no service in return, I CERTAINLY AM NOT! And I will share my experience with anyone who asks.

Appalling service.Do not consider this company if you are looking for alarm system. Customer service are pleasant and seem to be helpful but nothing seems to be achieved by talking to them. At least 8 appointments have been broken by the engineers and they don't contact you when they cancel an appointment leaving you sitting around for the whole day. No working alarm system for 2 weeks now!

Appalling Service
The ADT system at my home address has been failing to send a test signal to ADT's monitoring centre (as required for compliance with the European Standard EN50131) for over 12 months now! In other words, it's not working as it should be.
I only received a single letter informing me of this fact. No attempt has been made by ADT to follow up, remedy or reimburse me for the cost of a system that is not currently functional or fit for purpose!
I have made several calls to ADT over the last week and been assured that an engineer is being assigned to look at the system. Despite my repeated calls this issue has not been treated as a priority or been resolved. Time has been wasted waiting for an engineer who never arrives. Meanwhile ADT is still charging me for a system that doesn't work and is making no attempt to remedy.
The level of service from ADT is appalling. I would avoid and go elsewhere.
ADT damaged our wall!
We've had ADT security for a little over 4 years. We were under contract for 3 years. Then they increased the price to $60 a month unless you sign another contract. It was good at first, then came the many issues it's not worth the money. The system went off once and we couldn't shut it off, the police came. The system is hooked up to an outlet so it's ALWAYS powered up. Sometimes it will beep and say low battery! We decided to cancel and go with something else. Customer service is also horrible. After the cancellation, we were put on hold for another half hour to go through the process to uninstall. What really got me was, after we removed the security mount from the wall, there was a HUGE square hole in the wall! The tech cut out a large hole just to insert a wire through the wall. Horrible installation job, completely damaged the wall.

Dishonest contract - you don't own the equipment even if you pay $1,200 upfront
I wrote a review earlier in the month and I'm writing an additional review with the hopes of helping other consumers avoid ADT and its dishonest contract. When I signed up 11 months ago, I paid $1,200 upfront with the belief I was purchasing the cameras and equipment outright. The contract is super long and I didn't read it thoroughly enough as I trusted what I was being told on the day of installation. I signed up primarily for the camera system and monitoring of cameras. My cameras have repeatedly stopped working. I've called, used the online chat, and had a tech here with no resolve. The only way to fix it is to unplug everything and reset all of the recording rules once a month (shouldn't have to do that). I've gone almost 2 months total without camera services as the system doesn't notify me when it goes down and it takes a while to figure out it isn't working.
After a concerning email with corporate (nonchalant about the issues), I read my contract thoroughly. Come to find out, I DO NOT OWN THE CAMERAS and they are not functional with any other provider so what did I pay $1,200 for on the day of installation?!!!
