We used ADT Protection to monitor our residence for 10 years and were pleased with their service. We had no issues until we tried to cancel our account. We were no longer under contract with them and I was informed all I had to do was give them 30 days notice. There is no local phone number, so you must call 1(800) numbers where you will be put on hold, passed from one person to another, given the run around on why you can’t cancel, told representatives will call you back and they never do. It took 4 hours of telephone calls over two days and numerous emails to finally cancel my account. Absolutely ridiculous and the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.
ADT is just here to take your money
ADT is just like every other large security system company. They are only here to take advantage of your need for security by taking as much money from you as they can. We were lied to multiple times on moving and the other times every employee had something completely different to say. They are extremely incompetent and inconsiderate, and it ended up costing us an unexpected $1,300.
We told them we were moving soon and they said that’s fine, just take the equipment with you and we will reinstall it at the new place (first lie to get us to buy). We did that and when they came out they said no you were supposed to call us, have us uninstall it and reinstall it at the new house (second lie). We gave it the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe we misunderstood something and AGAIN told them we would likely move within a year (we move a lot for work). They said no problem, just call us first so we can uninstall it. Here we are moving again and I asked specifically 5 times if they provided service on a military installation, after trying to avoid my question, they asked for an address, I gave them one on the base, they said yes we service that (wrong again). We are getting ready to move and find out not only do they not provide service on a military installation, but they were never going to uninstall our system, but we would have to leave it and buy new equipment and start a new contract (because and I quote, “it saves ADT money”). Well of course it save ADT money because they are just taking more of mine. Our only other option was to buy out the contract. So since we were moving to a place they couldn’t even provide service, we have to pay $1,300 to end the contract.
In the end, they are a complete sham of a company that just finds every way to take more money from you. Our biggest reason for picking them was that we didn’t have $1,000 to buy our own equipment. He were are shelling out $1,300 and getting no equipment. We can’t take anything with us because it’s tied to the old address (conveniently controlled by the company, you can’t change it) so even if we’d bring it with us, the system will not work because it’s outside of the area of the old address.
Oh and they tell you they will not charge military when they move, wrong again. We got here at the height of COVID and were several month down on the waitlist for on post housing so we lived off post while waiting for a house on post. We explained all of this to ADT and were transparent of our intentions. They said it was fine, we wouldn’t have to pay, turns out it’s only for a PCS to another base and even then you still have to pay off the equipment. Which at this point I don’t even trust that because nothing they have told us has been true. Do not buy from ADT or any other large security company. Just buy your own equipment and self monitor.

HORRIBLE by every standard!! I reached out to them to get a video camera for which THEY SENT ME A PROMOTION where installation was free. It took a 90 minute phone call where I was transferred 4 times before I could place an order. Then upon verification they included the price of installation! Again I called back- on hold and transferred 6 times- without any resolution. Finally I asked the poor rep on the other end to cancel my order and refund my deposit which he did. FINALLY someone is able to do at least one thing. I immediately ordered my RING doorbell from Amazon which will be here tomorrow and installed the day after. As soon as my contract is up I'll be transferring to another monitoring company. Don't waste your time or money with ADT- they do not want or deserve your service.
Unethical, Deceptive & Disingenuous ADT Customer Service
When we signed up for ADT home & camera services (Oct 2021 by Safe Streets, 3rd party seller) we were advised of $25 Service Call(s) IF/WHEN NEED. Ok, it went up to $59... I get it (but over double increase?) The sign of the times...I get it. Booked an ADT Tech to connect working cameras/system to NEW internet provider. Never a word from ADT Customer Service or advised of (ANY "POSSIBLE") additional $135./1st 30 minutes PLUS $39/15 minutes increments. NO HEADS UP OF Possible COSTS. Had I not been able to pay that (collected at time of service) and turned away the Tech that I'd be charged the $59. The Poor Tech was TASKED with advising me of pricing. WHY COULDN'T "SOMETHING" have been advised to me PRIOR TO the appointment?? NOPE NOT A WORD from ADT Customer Service...ADT is UNETHICAL, DECEPTIVE & DISINGENUOUS...If you are considering ADT (Company SOLD & NOT the same Owners) DO NOT DO IT... We use this company for our business office and they have the worst customer service ever...they send their project managers to our site promising that they will do a great job and will take care of us and when its time they fail you. If you call and speak to a manager to complain they don't care either. This company is a joke!

Poor experience
Poor experience. Have called twice to book a service appointment. Agent unable to book it on their system for some reason so referred to another department who will call me back to make arrangements. No such call received. Have asked for details of manager I can escalate to. Agent says they are not allowed to provide these details but manager will call me back....strangely enough I don't have much confidence in this happening...let's see.

My experience with adt was horrible, I recently purchased a home last month and a guy name Raymond showed up to my door, he is a wolf in sheep clothing. He told me that he would waive activation fees and first month payment plus give a 100 rebate if go through with service. ADT billed my account two days later and two weeks later safestreet billed me 106.43 for activation fee, I called Raymond who immediately got offended as if I’m not supposed to be concerned when he advised that they were waiving all the fees I was billed, now I’m being charged 1378$ for a cancellation fee. This company has no moral ethics, instead of accepting accountability they are rude and disrespectful. Stay away from them, better yet if Raymond shows up to your door. Just close it!

I had ADT install my backyard camera and back in June 2020. The camera worked for the first month after that it continuously stopped recording. I went through all the steps for troubleshooting works for a day then stops. I have called numerous times they have us unplug it from the outlet, reset the camera from the back of it. Works for a few days then stops. Called again month after month same story. In the fall of 2021 ADT sent a tech to check it out he had no clue he called another tech to walk him through what to do. Worked for a month then stopped. Every time I call ADT customer service doesn’t understand why it continues to stop recording. I wish someone from ADT knew how to correct this problem. I’m stuck in my contact until 2025. I just can’t wait to be able to cancel. Not worth the problems and stress.

Was advised on 3/2/22 that in 24-48 business hours someone would follow up with me. No follow up received. On 3/9/22 I received a text @ 10:05 am that a tech was on his way I had no idea this was scheduled. I called ADT spoke with Shawn he advised a local supervisor Tamara in my area booked the appointment without contacting me first. I told Shawn the appointment needs to be rescheduled that it is snowing in NJ and I need to be out of my house by 11am I have a doctors appointment. Shawn rescheduled for 3/10/22 between 1-5pm he stated that I would not be charged a service fee. On 3/10/22 I waited for the tech to show between 1-5pm the tech was a no-show. I called ADT at 5pm spoke to Ashlynd who advised me that there was a glitch today’s appointment was not sent to a tech. I told her this is unbelievable I lost the afternoon for nothing. Now rescheduled again for 3/15/22 between 8-9 am with a senior tech coming. Ashlynd then advised I will have a $59 service fee. I told her what Shawn said no service fee she doesn’t see any notes. I was transferred to Jessica in billing she can’t do anything until a tech puts the bill in. Jessica sent a request to have a local manager in my area to call to have the service fee waived before the tech shows on 3/15/22. I told Jessica since I didn’t schedule the first appointment from the start I’m not paying a service fee she agreed. I as told Jessica if I don’t receive a call from the manager before the tech is to show I will be canceling the appointment. I told Jessica I wish I can just have ADT take all their equipment back this is not worth the stress it’s causing me. ADT is horrible to deal with.

Won't stop charging you after terminate service
Canceled ADT service 12/4/21 as I sold my cabin. ADT called me and ask permission to transfer my service to the new owner and I gave them my permission to do so.
I got a bill on 1/4/22 for Jan. (remember I canceled my service Dec. 4, 2021). Not only was ADT charging me for service when I no longer owned the cabin, but the new owner was also paying for service. Very frustrating trying to call ADT and after multiple attempts was told that ADT charges you for 30 days after your service is disconnected and if that 30 days falls into the next month that they charge you for that month too. So in summary, cut off my service Dec. 4th and was charged through Jan. 31th. Almost 2 month after service was terminated. Quite a racket!
Power, cable, internet, etc. stop charging the day you terminate the service.

Unbelievable!! I've been trying to have the 5G conversion completed for FIVE MONTHS and after THREE appointments the techs repeatedly, REPEATEDLY! didn't show.
1 - In October I was given an 8:00-Noon window, rearranged my schedule and waited for the tech. At Noon I called ADT and was told that he wouldn't be coming. No call, no text, no nothing!!
2 - I rescheduled for December, received a text confirmation and the four hour window. Again, I reschedule my appts and --- another NO SHOW! I call ADT and there's NO RECORD OF MY APPT!
3 - I'm definitely changing providers but am still receiving urgent reminders to make the 5G conversion. So in the interim I foolishly called yesterday for a 1-5:00pm appt today. I called at 1:30 to confirm my appt and got an ETA of 4:15. So far, so good. An hour later I get a call that the tech WILL NOT be arriving and to reschedule the appt!! Unbelievable!
Got screwed not one, not two but THREE times by ADT! I've been an ADT customer for 12 years but since their sale to Safe Streets they're now totally mismanaged, uncaring and suffering from serious cash flow issues. After egregious mismanagement of billing, scheduling and support, how can they effectively protect your property? For those who are happy with ADTs smarmy sales people and quick installations, wait until the 90 day warranty expires and you're hit with ongoing $150 service calls for simple battery changes or adjustments.
As evidenced by the canned auto-responses to ADT complaints on this board, you will receive the same lying empty apologies and deplorable service.
I encourage all Calif residents to pursue the Service Call No-Show penalty in small claims court to receive a $600 reimbursement.
If your time, money and peace of mind is important and as others have stated - DO NOT USE ADT/Safe Streets!

Well still no call back from ADT complaints, Angela Ayrey told me she would email the complaints above her they told me I would get a call back two weeks ago

The worst company I’ve ever dealt with! 2 business premises and 2 residential properties with a total of 5 contracts and I’m cancelling all of them! A complaints team that don’t respond! I haven’t been complaining about multiple issues since November and it’s now end of February!

I have an old outdated system in a rental house that is 3G. Doesn't work. They keep charging my checking account every month and won't cancel because I cannot remember the code. They said that they mailed it twice. They did not. They are charging me for $67 every month for service I am not getting, do not want and email me every day telling me my system is out of date. They refuse to cancel even when they call me and say anyone could call to cancel. I keep telling them they called me! They suck.

ADT poor service
The service we have received from ADT has been poor , numerous telephone calls where no one answers the phone ! We were told a battery would be sent out and we would be talked through fitting it , not ideal but we said yes but it wasn’t sent ! After not being able to set the alarm and then not turn it off an engineer was sent out ! Alan Johnston did a good job calling me to say he was on his way ( after I had called ADT to check ) I actually cleaned my oven throughly while I waited for them to answer , not satisfactory ! We are very satisfied with today’s visit but the lead up to it has been atrocious and unless ADT improve their customer services they are going to lose them !

ADT is THE WORST. I have had them for a month and I want them GONE. First, their smart doorbell is trash. Second their system doesn't stay connected to WIFI for ANYTHING. Third, their glass break sensor goes off when I close my silverware drawer. Literally, NOT HELPFUL. My installer was meh, at best. Also, if you sign up for them BUYER BEWARE. They sell your info to third parties. I called ADT to complain because I was being harassed by their vendor and then rudely accosted. I was told "We are not affiliated with them. But we have their contact info." So you aren't affiliated but you have their contact info? I am so beyond pissed I want this gone free of charge. It's terrible. Save yourself time, money and pain. Just buy the Ring security system. It's not monitored but it does a way better job than the antiquated fossil they will install in your house. If I could give this zero stars I would. ADT YOU ARE TRASH.

Scam artists at best! I tried to cancel after my worthless contract was up (two of three cameras don't work and sensors fell off my doors). Was told that they would lower my monthly payment and that I would not be under contract. Turns out they flat out lied. I am now stuck with another year of worthless service. Cannot wait to rid myself of this awful company. I am reporting them to BBB, probably one of thousands.

ADT called me to alert me of a low battery Saturday night close to 9pm. I get transferred to DeShawn who promptly tells me that I need to give the verbal password. While I am looking it up, he hangs up on me.
I know it may seem odd, but I wouldn't think so, he got rude prior to hanging up, while I asked him to wait.

Call customer services! Waiting time of more than 15 min to find a rather unfriendly, unpleasant if not rude person on the other end. Good at taking your money. Left them to another company and found a significant difference.
