ADT is running a bait and switch scam
ADT is running a bait and switch scam, along with AT&T and Safe Streets. I was originally contacted regarding poor internet service by AT&T. the rep said AT&T was aware of this, and since I was a long term customer, they were offering me a free 'Door Camera' as well as a major reduction in my AT&T bill - from ~$260 per month to $140. When the ADT technician arrived, he first mounted the front of house camera (not a doorbell camera), then had to re-drill a second hole in the wall, because he screwed up the first one. He then started installing door sensors in my garage. I insisted that I did not need or want them, but he insisted that they were part of the package and refused to take them out. Bottom line - my AT&T bill has only gone UP since this installation, ADT will not end the contract, and Safe Streets will only end the contract if I pay off the balance - ~$1500! This scam is a blatant bait and switch scam to scare seniors into a useless and fraudulent long term contract. This is how they make their money. Avoid this company like the plague. Don't get conned like I did. And since they won't do anything about the contract, I intend to get my money's worth by writing these reviews whenever and wherever I can. And ADT - save your 'we're so sorry..." thoughts and prayers. They have about as much value as your company!

ADT doesn't like capitalism
I was forwarded to ADT for my home security needs. I let the rep go through the spiel and compared numbers and politely declined. He asked why and I pointed out that similar security packages are cheaper and have more customization. Wow! He started bashing every other security company and made vague threats! What an experience!

Underhanded Salesman and Techs.
After reading some reviews ADT seemed like a reputable company. Their salesman surveyed our home and reassured us that all the equipment he was putting into our contract we absolutely needed to keep our home safe. We agreed to the price point given on the contract and signed. All is well it seemed. The ADT Tech comes out and does his own survey of our home. He says that we need extra equipment. Which we would have to pay even more for. Also, if we didn’t get the extra equipment the Tech advised, ADT wouldn’t be held liable for the safety of our home. This is a classic con artist technique.

Worst customer service EVER
Worst customer service EVER. When there’s a problem they want to charge you for fixing their equipment and when you cancel your service it takes 2 months that they bill you for.....who pays for service that you don’t get and the worst customer service representatives ever. Account was cancelled in July and the will not clear it from account because it was not recorded in their system until 2 months later. If your looking for Security go somewhere else! They lie about their equipment and your pets also.....if they tell you that your pet will not set off the alarm DON’T BELIVE them.

Like many of the complaints
Like many of the complaints, I'm having the same problem getting my refund. Been with ADT for over 7 years. Finally decide to cancel. Called in early June to cancel and thought that was done. They charged me for July. Called ADT again, the agent said it was a mistake and my account will get cancelled this time. Now it's August and I am charged again. Absolutely frustrating having to deal with this shady tactic with a company of this caliber. Over $22 they have lost a customer for life.

I will never ever move near this…
I will never ever move near this company again especially with their poor customer services and most importantly the lady that I spoke to this morning that would not listening to me also lied that she would put me through a manager but later cut me off the phone line. I had a contract signed on the 11th of August then installation on the 19th of August same day it too 20mins before the alarm was trigger when my wife walked into the kitchen so I contacted them that this is not for me especially it is negotiable my life including my family too if the security that supposed to notify in case of an intruder was as described. I am still within my cooling off period but ADT is not respecting this I have told them through official notification and verbally, I shall be informing the FCA and my local Trading Standard official. This is a rip-off please be aware of them go to smaller companies.

Omg how Frickin ridiculous is this Stupid company? I'll tell you that they don't know their heads from a hole in the ground and they transfer you from one place to another and at the same time nobody can give me a consistent Answer...I told ADT in July that I just purchased a new House and would be RELOCATING my Services NOT CANCELING THEM yet I'm getting threatening texts and phone calls plus Emails..I've talked to over 30 different people and none of them can give me the same answer..I received a email and text saying that they're taking me to Collections and I already told them that I'm not moving into my House until Sept 1st and they had set me up for installation of my existing Equipment (bc it's only 8 months old) on Sept 7th yet when I called ADT this morning after another round of threatening texts and emails they acted like they hadn't ever talked to me plus tried to transfer me back to Relocation only to be transferred to someone else who didn't know anything (as usual) and I'm tired of explaining what's going on to them bc obviously they can't or don't want to Hear what I'm saying...I've contacted ADT Corporate Office and talked to them about the situation and they promised me that they would check into this matter for me..I would Never again Recommend ADT to Anyone bc they are Liars and just try selling you another Equipment package and I'm still paying for the first Equipment and as I stated above it's only 8 months old..They're just trying to make a sell..ADT also tried to go into my payment on file at the time I contacted them about RELOCATING my Services and take out $3,914 for both Services and Flex pay for the Equipment however I immediately canceled easy pay and the Card on file..I did send ADT August's Service payment but only thru my bank and as a one time transfer and definitely not a Recurring one bc ADT would try the same exact BS as they did before..I'm seriously thinking about Suing ADT bc of the Crap that they've put me through (Stress and threatening me about going into Collections) I'm an Army Veteran with Military PTSD and I definitely don't want or need any more Stress and Anxiety bc it literally makes me Sick...ADT ya'll Suck and you really need to get your S together and stop trying to damage People's lives and I definitely know that I'm not the only person dealing with Adt and their BS...Also for Adt there's no need to answer my review with your Email @ Alwaysthere@adt com bc that's BS as well

Please explain how a massive bear can walk up to my house and not trigger a damn thing and demolish my entire front yard and nope damn cameras didn't catch anything but I pay a ridiculous payment for cameras that don't actually friggen work. The customer services team is a damn joke and keep saying I dont have an account but I do and I keep getting harged for it. Had a sensor break off the first week we had this damn system and still waiting for the repair dumbass to show its been over a year now and nothing. Please come get your equipment this company is a joke and thanks for jacking up my payments for cameras that don't even pick anything up. And yes I have played with my settings and more. Rip off, scam joke. Ohhh but its cool you had people charged from this company from watching ppl on their company time. Super cool. Creepers!!!!!! And stop doing your lame automated messages on here its lazy and shows how much u don't care. You have said the same reply to all of us and your adt always there is a joke. No one is ever there , except the guy ADT guy caught spying on clients through their cameras at home.... again ... creeepyyyy much

No recomiendo adt tienen un muy mal servicio y solo dan ofertas a clientes nuevos 👎 estoy tratando de hablar con alguien que hable Español y solo me contesta una maquina que no se ni lo que me dice, muy mal servicio. Binieron a poner ase como 2 meses el monitor nuevo y ya no puedo activar mi alarma desde mi cellular, y por eso es el motivo de mi llamada y nadien contesta que mal servico 0% recomendado

Just don't do it. Go with vivint.
For the love of all things holy DO NOT go with ADT. If you want to spend hours on the phone on hold or talking to agent after agent, have them continue charging you after you cancel because they’ve removed your online account access for your own billing, and have them overcharge you every month for crappy service, then be my guest. I'm so tired of dealing with them and their competitors give insanely better service at better prices, including online support. Go with vivint and save yourself the headache.

I have had ADT for years we moved to another town they said no problem we just move your service there.We moved they pulled a large amount of money from our banking account I called they said because we ended our service I told the lady no we moved it to our new house she finally found and they put the money back so a year later we decided to end our business with them because the service is so high 60 plus dollars a month we was informed that we had another year of service left because we moved I told them that is not what they told us they said unfortunately people don’t understand that when they move I said no that is not what y’all told us so they are no better then scam artist I will never use this company again when my contract is over it will be cut off

Horrible from the start and nothing…
Horrible from the start and nothing ever works correctly for more than a few days and price keeps going up not to mention service charges every week if you want a properly working system also very difficult to terminate service don't use this Horrible company please

If I could give 1/4 star I would but really prefer to give negative 10. HORRIBLE customer service as we had their service for years and we tried to cancel last year but were told since we could not remember the verbal code (take note we had the accnt #) that they would have to mail us something. Never saw anything in the snail mail... Then we got busy w/ my Grandmother's death and called back today approximately 9 months later and were helped "on the phone" to remember the verbal password. ADT just continued to charge us although 9 months ago we said we had a new security system. They will not offer to credit back anything, not even $1. Shake my head, they are HORRIBLE!!! Especially in the middle of a pandemic. ALSO, they will not provide help to get the multiple contraptions off our walls so we are left to deal w/ all of that equipment, etc. on our own. What a waste and I can say I will NEVER look to change back to ADT and will continue to share this story with all neighbors and friends looking to get security added to their homes or businesses. SHAME ON YOU ADT!!! Karma works in funny ways so good luck and good rid-ins...

This company is the worst
This company is the worst. Do not use them. They will constantly increase rates (a few dollars at a time hoping you won't notice). The contracts are way too long. And cancelling is impossible. They will make it so difficult to cancel your contract, bouncing you around between people, changing the information they give you, etc. Edit after emailing with them at the address they provided: They are literally trying to double bill me. Telling me I owe for the 1 month left on my contract (I knew I had one month left. When I talked to them on the phone they told me it would just be a $28 cancellation fee because of that 1 month) and a pro-rated amount for 10 days that fall in that same month. Additionally, they're saying I had to give them a 30-day notice to cancel (their explanation of the prorated 10 days), which was not explained to me on the phone. I don't know why. They went through a whole script about how I wouldn't be able to use the keypad or any other equipment to call emergency services. If you're going to read me a script, why wouldn't the 30 days be in it. And to call exactly 30 days prior to the end of the contract (that 1 additional month I had) would have meant I had to call on the weekend. Only their department for cancellations isn't open on the weekends. So there's literally no way I could have ended this contract exactly on its end date. These people have a terrible BBB rating and now I know why. I have filed my own BBB complaint.

You pay a monthly fee for service. If any equipment is broken even if under warranty, you have to pay a service call. You request to speak to supervisor and they say they will call you back. Never did. You ask for refund of service call and they say they will refund but don't. I do not recommend this company at all. Customer service needs so much help. long wait time and promises not met

Non existent customer service
Non existent customer service! We have an old ADT system which was in the house when we moved in. We have never used the system but recently the green ‘on’ light has started flashing. ADT have no email for customer services so I rang them. The response I received to the question ‘why is the light flashing’ was ‘I don’t know’. Very helpful - not!! But he could arrange a call out for £180. Scandalous!!

Buyer Beware
ADT offers a lot but beware the fine print. I called to cancel service as we do not use the system anymore and was told I would still be billed for another month because it takes that long to change the system. Amazingly upon sign up, you are activated the same day. There are a lot of pressure sales and they make it very inconvenient to cancel should you not be happy with their service. That alone should raise a lot of red flags. Their response is it is in your contract. Thus the warning to all.

8-17-2021 ADT - HUGE LET-DOWN---WORST COMPANY EVER I selected ADT in 2018 because my Brother had this service for over 25 years. I have had nothing but issues. My first year of service was ok, with a few issues that were finally worked out. Each time afterwards, things just got more difficult with ADT in every aspect. I had to move 4 times last year (2020) with COVID and have had nothing but horrendous issues. Each move I told the installer to take my old equipment and use it in the next place so that I was not charged again for the same equipment costs. I always had more equipment left over due to my original home being the largest of windows and doors. Due to the installer then keeping my left-over equipment and no refunds I talked to his boss (Lance Echternach and his boss, Elias Cruz out of Harrisburg) and was told by Elias that they would cover anything I needed in equipment at no cost to me, since they kept my non-used equipment without my allowing it. My last move in December 2020 is the worst. ADT installed my equipment. It appeared to be ok. I called each month asking for a bill to be mailed US Mail to me so I could pay my bill. NOTHING! I called each month and sometimes twice a month. Still nothing. I then receive a bill for around $2000. yet I’m paying a monthly automatic bill on a credit card. My Brother then dies of COVID so I have to go to this house out of state to take care of things. When I return home, I find my ADT service has been disconnected; STILL no bills in the US Mail other than a $2000 bill, and then a letter stating ADT put me into COLLECTIONS. I called Elias Cruz and asked him to get this cleared up. No return calls; no assistance whatsoever. He and Lance have ignored all emails asking for help when they created this issue to begin with. I can’t get ANY HELP! All I want is my ADT to be reinstated, less all the bills and aggravation for extra equipment that I should NOT be paying for when I purchased the equipment in too many of the moves only then to be charged a 4th time for the same equipment that ADT’s installers kept that was NOT theirs to take, thereby so they can then charge me for equipment that I had already had and paid for previously! CAN A MANAGER FROM ADT PLEASE call me to get this all taken care of without any more delays PLEASE??? I can’t keep missing work to spend 6-to-8 hours at a time on the phone with ADT trying to get this HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE cleared up!!!

Faulty equipment ,crazy high prices three false alarms, a fine from the county. You couldn't pay me to use ADT again their installation sucks their equipment sucks their service sucks. they also claimed to have a 6-month money back guarantee zero cost cancellation within that time I tried to cancel it three times during the first 6 months because everything kept failing and they wouldn't cancel it. Salty sensors that they want to charge me $100 to replace that I already replaced and they've had to fix multiple due to research go somewhere else not ADT

Worst of worst of customer experiences in a lifetime.
Worst of worst of customer experiences; Called 4 times to troubleshoot a problem with an agent who was not listening; he kept telling me that my system was fine and not listening that my display said failure! When I called to cancel, I spend 90’ on the phone, spoke with 5 people, was cut during transfers twice, etc etc. If this is what a private company can do, bring back the government!

ADT is an absolutely terrible company
ADT is an absolutely terrible company, if I could, I would give it zero stars. If you're looking for home security solutions, find ones that do not require predatory contracts and leasing equipment through a third party (Citizen's One). Over 12 months ago I cancelled my ADT service (within their 6 mo cancellation policy). I've continued to get charged for the equipment lease by Citizens One, their financer partner. $25 / mo every month for a service /equipment I'm not using and that should have been cancelled as part of the cancellation. I called Citizens One and told them I'm no longer an ADT customer and I would like to not be charged for the equipment, they told me I needed to return the equipment to ADT and that ADT would then let them know to cancel the loan. When I called ADT, they claimed that was not the policy and that, "ADT is not now, nor were we under any contractual obligation to collect the equipment from you if you cancelled the service prior to the completion of the initial term. Please be advised that ADT will not retrieve the CitizensOne financed security equipment." So which is it? Basically, ADT's whole business model, built around their $7+ billion dollar company, is to lock consumers into contracts. Then if you're lucky enough to get out of it, like I was after a fight, they won't accept the equipment back so they don't have to eat the cost of the leased equipment. Essentially, I think this is because its less expensive for them to issue new equipment than to process returns, etc. Very poor experience with ADT, and what do you know, based on reviews here, it looks like the norm.

Absolute Scam
Not surprised that this has less than two starts. The entire company is a scam. They’ll tell you that you have 6 months to cancel and then turn around and say they said you only had 3 days all along. If you call to cancel within the 3 days, they’ll purposefully not record it and say you never called.

Each of the three times I have called ADT for help with my move I have been on the phone for well over an hour. And not because someone is helping me, because they keep transferring me blind to different departments where we have to start the process from the beginning of determining who I am and why I am calling. I hate to say it, but a basic intelligence screening should be required when hiring their reps. And blind transfers should not be protocol. It is the most frustrating experience I cannot put into words.

ADT is not worth the money or effort.
Was stuck in 3 yr contract. Followed protocol to cancel. It has taken several phone calls, each verifying my account that was said to have cancelled a month previous, another charge to my account the following month and promised refund which didn’t happen, and numerous times being transferred and placed on hold only to have the call go dead. Over the course of 3 months. I thought cutting cable was drama. The service was overpriced and basically did nothing.
