This security service is a con, I wouldn’t recommend ADT to anyone. Service is beyond bad, equipment beeps all the time because of their issues, they are in denial of anything on their part. 4 calls and false fixes, again and again. Conned in and ripped off. A JOKE

I would give them 0 stars if I could! Their customer service is broken and useless. I have been a customer for 30 years and it has never ben as bad as since "Telus" took over. Their new wireless control panel/pad has a firmware design defect and loses WiFi communication/link with the sensors at random intervals between a few minutes to a couple of hours. Then it takes a few minutes to tens of minutes to reboot. Every other day or so the control pad freezes completely. If it happens during the night or when away from the house you have no alarm coverage! God forbit if there is a fire or CO leak! I have been struggling with ADT service to get the problem fixed for 5 months with no success. DO NOT BUY ADT equipment or home alarm coverage!

ADT automated call at midnight woke me up to tell me batteries are low! instead of replacing batteries I ripped keypad off wall and stomped it into pieces. w t f is wrong with them people?

One star is far too much
One star is far too much. I’ve been dealing with issues with my alarm system and cameras since day one. They won’t even speak to us about cancelling our account and say we will be charged over $1200 even though the system hasn’t worked at all. The customer service is HORRIBLE, like absolutely horrible. I have never dealt with a company this awful in my life. DO NOT GET ADT. There are plenty of other companies that will treat you much better. Also plenty of security companies that offer the same for less money. I wish I had read reviews before being charmed into buying an ADT system.

Horrible, HORRIBLE customer service!! Not only have I been in hold hell this morning trying to cancel the service they told me was cancelled a month ago, they billed me AGAIN and are now saying because I agreed to a credit they gave me last month (ANOTHER error on their part due to them giving me misinformation regarding my account) that they are not able to credit me back...WHAT??!! These people are CROOKS, LIARS and SCAMMERS. It's all wonderful when you sign up and pay your bill on time, but god help you if you need to cancel. I don't know why they're training their workers to BS the way they do. ASK FOR A SUPERVISOR and know you'll be on hold for a while. The supervisor promised the credit would be made and the service cancelled, gave me a confirmation number, so we'll see. ONE STAR IS TOO MUCH for the time and energy wasted.

DONT GET ADT
We had the system removed since it cost a ton for no product. Were billed even after a trial period, never got a credit and billed again. Bounced back and forth between ADT and one of their authorized dealers. Everytime i called it i was given the run around and attitudes. They don’t know what they are doing. Avoid ADT

Run from this company
Run from this company. My father passed away several months ago and had an ADT system on his house. I attempted to cancel his contract with them and open a new one under my name. Instead of canceling his account, they canceled my account I had with them for 14 years. Unbelievably horrible customer service.

Installer gave himself access to my system, multiple lies, hung up on. I smell a Class Action suit
I am done with ADT’s lies! I purchased a system for my home in 2019. I was told the physical system could be moved when I moved, as I knew I would be doing so in a year. I called to set up my move and told them I would be RENTING. They informed me that my system could not be moved because it was outdated. They had a wireless system that could be moved and was not “outdated.” The system I had installed less than a year prior was obsolete. I was assured the new system was wireless and would be updated remotely. Best part of the new wireless system - I can easily take it with me, I was told repeatedly. Again, I informed the installer that I was renting and that was the most important thing to me, as I had just spent $3500+ on a system that I couldn’t move, despite being told I could. I was sold a new system for another $2500+ as they gave me some credit from my old system. The installer (salesman) sold me on a doorbell camera, a keypad lock, a camera in the back, the wireless touchscreen, key fobs, and multiple other additions. I was excited to have this security as I am a single mom with two young children and require additional security. I CAN TAKE IT WITH ME, he assured. That’s the beauty of the new wireless system. I WAS LIED TO. I am about to move out of this rental and into my next rental. Guess what? I CAN’T MOVE THE SYSTEM. $6000+ on equipment in less than two years, both installers (salesmen) knew I would be moving and renting. Both told me this was possible. I have spent HOURS on the phone with ADT. They acknowledge that I was misled. They tried to claim it was a third party, but a woman I talked to today said that was not true. ADT purchased that company prior to both installations. They operated as Defenders but are 100% owned by ADT. However, they still cannot provide a resolution. Furthermore, the installer of this system included his own phone as authorized for access. I discovered this and I had that removed months ago when I was dealing with being double charged for my old system monitoring and the new system monitoring despite calling every month to tell them to stop double charging me. During the process, I came across the additional device (his phone), and the rep said it was added the day it was installed. He did use his phone to call them and was on it typing during installation. I thought it was an ADT owned device and part of the process. Nope. The person on the line the day I found it didn’t tell me this was not a standard practice, but did help me remove it. Sounds like a cover up to me. So, I’ve been lied to twice, double charged, accessed without permission, and spent $6000 on equipment, plus monitoring for another $1500 over two years, and now spent 1.5 hours on the phone yesterday with 5 different transfers, called back today and told they would resolve it and set up an appointment to move the system, only to be transferred again to someone that knew nothing about that promise. She tried. I was on the phone for 1 hour and 38 mins. She said she had been told by every person she attempted to contact that there was no way my system can be moved. I could have the remainder of my contract waived and purchase an ADT Blue system and sign a new contract, but that’s all she could do for me. She offered to transfer me again. THE LINE WAS DISCONNECTED. I’m in the middle of a move, with two small children and need protection. This is the best ADT can do for a customer that gave them more than $7500 in less than two years? Money I don’t have and used credit to do because I NEED SECURITY. Both installers (salesman) gave me the same line about “I can take it with me when I move” and that’s not a coincidence. They work on commission. They said what these lies to earn commissions. Maybe there’s even a quota of sales required that pushes them to this, I don’t know. What I do know is that they do not care about me as a customer. I am curious how many other people have been lied to? Is there a class action suit here? That’s where this is headed, quite possibly. I don’t have $6000 to throw away. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER THAT NEEDS SECURITY - but the very people supposed to be protecting me, HAVE STOLEN FROM ME through deceitful actions, disregard, corporate loop holes, disconnected calls, and they allowed my home to be invaded and merely acted as though it was nothing. I’ve missed work now too, three hours over two days to deal with it and there’s still no resolution. ADT should do the right thing here. THIS IS A SCAM. I am seeking out legal counsel. I encourage everyone on here to not only post here but to their social media pages as well. UPDATED: Spoke with región manager last Monday after this post. Jeff B. promised me he would take care of everything and that everything I was told was false. Systems CAN be moved. There’s usually a charge, but he would have it done within 2 days for free. NEVER HAPPENED AND WON’T RETURN CALLS.

ADT customer service is a joke.…
I feel like the company doesn't care about the customer. However, they do care about the money. My outdoor camera is not working, I called them and they wouldn't even send a technician to fix it despite multiple calls and complaints. Also, they were supposed to replace a chip in my system. Their technician told me they have a shortage of chips and he couldn't come nor tell me when they can schedule me back. No customer service at all. This customer service is a joke.

I've been with ADT for 20 years - WARNING!
I've been with ADT for 20 years. It is amazing that I should need to write this review, but I feel that I need to warn others. Something terrible has apparently happened with ADT. They used to have excellent and dependable service, but not anymore. What the heck happened? I don't often need to call them, so I've been totally shocked to learn that if you actually have an issue, you may as well forget about getting a proper response. We're talking SECURITY here! My system had an error on the keypad that I could not resolve, so I called and they said they would send a technician from noon to 4 pm last Thursday. At 4:15 on Thursday, he'd not yet arrived so I called ADT and they told me the technician wouldn't be able to make it after I waited 4 hours for them. No one could give me a heads up about this so that I didn't wait all afternoon?? Would they have ever even called me? They then gave me another appt. today from noon to 4 pm. I'd asked if I could be put first in the list and they said yes. The technician arrived at 10 minutes to 4:00, so forget about being first in the list; they outright lied to me about that. The technician came and simply unplugged a wire then plugged it back in to reboot the system, which cleared the error temporarily. I could have done that if they instructed me properly on what to do. Lo and behold, 45 minutes after he left, the alarm started going off. I called ADT and pressed the extension for an alarm event and got a recorded message saying there would be at least a 5 minute wait...for an alarm event!!! This is totally unacceptable! Something really bad is going on at ADT. When I finally got a person to answer, they called the technician and then told me he would come back to my house within 2 hours (that was at 5 pm). At 7:00 pm I called ADT back and a woman answered and said she'd try to find out what's going on. It's now 7:45 pm and I've heard nothing back. I can read the writing on this wall...ADT is no longer the ADT I used to have. They will now be losing a 20 year loyal customer, I'm outta here!

Unbelievably untrustworthy. The service is TERRIBLE. THEY DO NOT RETURN CALLS. I HAVE WAITED 9 DAYS TO UPGRADE MY BUSINESS AND I WAS TOLD I'D HEAR BACK WITHIN 24 HOURS. I had my office manager call. SHE HAS BEEN WAITING OVER A WEEK FOR A CALL BACK. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY.

Six years
The phone rep Ann tells me ADT appreciates me as a customer for the last 6 years but cannot ship me batteries as was done in the past. In the past I was told the batteries were paid for in my monthly rate; I would just have to install them. I did that. I guess I missed the point where my payment was reduced because equipment was no longer covered. I know it's a minor expense but I had always been very pleased with ADT but now I wonder if it is the right service for me.

ADT has some of the worse customer…
ADT has some of the worse customer service representative I ever had to deal with, many of them have no respect, and half the time can't answer a simple question, any time I ask to speak with a manager or supervisor I get hung up on or they keep asking why.

ADT is the absolute WORST security company. They do not stand behind their product nor Do they stand behind their word. Absolutely horrendous experience with them…. I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the attorney generals office.

If I could give a negative 5 stars I would. I have been an ADT customers for years. They are quick to come out if you want to update your service and add equipment but ongoing customer service is terrible. I had to change my wifi password because I was hacked, when I had trouble getting my cameras back on line, was told someone had to come out or I could change back to my old password. Hello... I was hacked. When I could finally take time off work to have someone come out, I sat all through the time slot they "confirmed" for me.. no one showed. When I called to find out why no one came, they claimed they double booked and someone called me two days prior. No call, email or text was ever received. Then they sent me to a desk to reschedule, no answer, only a message to go online to reschedule. Go online to reschedule, the online scheduling is not working... message to call the number. Around and around. I went months without my camera's being online. I gave up after several attempts. I am a nurse, working through the pandemic, spent hours and hours on the phone and online trying to resolve this. I finally just cancelled their service and that is even a worse experience. Horrible service, they only are concerned about getting you on the hook!

Hidden fees + coercive tactics
I came to share my experience but after reading the other reviews this company's customer service is a wrecking ball destroying prospective and long term customers. I called them to get an idea of their services and for that they decided to offer an agent visit + 36 month contract. All fine until they said I had to sign the contract without reading the details. "Sir, you can cancel it after meeting our representative". I kindly requested further details on the contract and they kept dodging it. I am wasting my time writing this but I had to after they spent another 15 minutes trying to convince me that I wasn't prioritizing what was important in my life by not signing. Here I am.

I have been ADT customer for as long as…
I have been ADT customer for as long as I can remember. In January we were selling our house and called ADT to cancel the service from 01/30/21 and ADT Customer service representative confirmed that the service has been canceled but I am still being charged $35.67 every month for no reason. I have been trying to call customer service but I have been given workarounds by various customer service representatives and sometimes they hang the phone after keeping me on hold for 15 minutes. I just want credit for the last 5 months and ADT to stop charging my Credit Card. This is the kind of service you get after being their customer for 10 years :-(

Issues with system NOT resolved
On Friday 7/16 I had an issue with my alarm. I called up ADT four times and they were not helpful. I was told that there was nothing wrong on their end. And that they weren't getting any messages that there was something wrong. I stayed up until 4:00 a.m. going up-and-down the steps trying to look for or detect where this sound was coming from. It went off every 5-7 minutes. It was a long shrill Beeeeep sound. I took the panel off and I took every sensor that I could take down and took the batteries out. Some I could not get to easily or at all. I tried to go to sleep with the sound going off and eventually the sound stopped. I'm guessing that the power ran out. I think a sensor over one of the doors was going off. I got maybe two hours sleep. I called back on Saturday to ask if someone could come out to check the system and she told me the charge for the first half hour was over $160 because I don't pay for maintenance. I don't mind a reasonable fee but that seems very, very exorbitant and not reasonable at all. I'm on SS disability and I can't pay that much. Last time I had problems with the security system, which was sometime in 2019, there was a chirping sound. Again they told me there was nothing wrong at their end. I called several times. The first rep walked me through and actually stopped the chirping ... for one day and then it started up again. They didn't even know what security panel I have. After looking on the internet and YouTube I found the problem. It was a low battery signal. I was able to buy another battery and change it out myself. When these thing happen, they also tell me that something else is making the sound and that it's not the ADT system. How can they provide security, if I'm having trouble, but the system on their end says there isn't a problem. Why should I pay for maintenance when they only ever tell me that they don't detect a problem on their end? I've had this system for 5+ years and I pay a monthly charge. so what am I paying for? I've had 2 issues (this one and the low battery issue) all this time but the monthly fee does not cover maintenance because that seems to be an extra charge. Most other companies I’ve dealt with have a monthly fee that actually also includes some sort of maintenance. But apparently ADT does not work that way. I think maybe it’s because they are not as reputable as other companies I’ve dealt with.

ADT don’t care about having long term customer and sale rep promise is not binding. 6/17 Safestreet (authorized vendor) installed - paid $717 subtotal System not working properly 6/19-22 What led us to cancel contract with Safestreet 1. ADT rep said we can cancel with Safestreet and directly do business with ADT 2. ADT is responsible for Safestreet work 3. ADT should be able to match or reduce to $717 4. Various reps mentioned the same in recorded messages about the matching 6/25 1. Safestreet uninstalled equipments 2. ADT rep quoted $1759 subtotal 3. On call for 5 hrs with ADT corporate for promised rate 4. Mr. Terranova (ADT Executive Dispute Office) promised to work with us after reviewing recorded messages 6/28 Mr. Terranova confirmed ADT rep mentioned about the rate but ADT will not honor it as verbal promise by ADT reps is not legally binding. $500 credit is what ADT can do (the same promotional discount as ADT tech sent on 6/22 3pm) We were misled by ADT reps into cancelling contracts with Safestreet so ADT can directly do business with us. After contract is canceled, ADT does not honor promise as it was just verbal despite management team reviewed recorded messages. We did everything we can to accommodate cancelled appointment by ADT tech by taking additional vacation, provided date/time/length/phone number of all recorded conversations with ADT, etc. ADT response: ADT will not honor what ADT reps mentioned on recorded lines. Verbally misleading existing or prospective customers is ok as it is not legally binding. In other words, ADT reps can say anything they want. It is very unfortunate for small consumer like us to be treated this way; misled, lied to, and being stuck with holes in brand new house despite all recorded messages are reviewed. Current response does not even align with ADT corporate vision statement - earning the lifelong trust.

Worst company I've ever felt with
Had been with them for over 25 years. Phoned and cancelled. No problem - then another bill for3 months We Cancelled ? o it must be in writing. So we put it in writing 1 month before the next billing cycle . After that month got another bill for the next 3 months - even though we had sold the building. - O You have to give 3 months notice to cancel - Didn't pay that one now a debt collector is hustling me - As crooked as they come never Use this company for anything. Over and above that the back up system didn't work for about 3 years and they couldn't fix it. DO NO USE THIS COMPANY

I had so much trouble with stuff always trouble shooting the panel the stuff worked half the time I lost gas in my cars the camera did not even detect the car that came in my driveway I said this is enough I stop from them taking money out of account now they want 2000.00 the crap done work an the predator on older folks like we know nothing. I will never have a company like that ever again they told me to fix camera my self in winter get on a latter do it myself I am over 70 yes old what you think now

The hoops they make you go through to…
The hoops they make you go through to cancel your service are enough for me to NEVER get this service again. I've been on hold for over an hour. About 20 minutes ago, an "Agent" answered and pulled up my account. As soon as I told her I wanted to cancel, she put me on hold again and now I'm back in the queue. This is beyond ridiculous! Especially considering the only way to cancel your service is by calling their number. AVOID ADT, unless you never EVER anticipate canceling your service. ALSO, you may not be aware that once you are FINALLY able to get through to cancel your service, they won't cancel it for an additional 30 days after the date you call. In other words, you are charged an additional month of service UNLESS YOU CANCEL A MONTH PRIOR TO WHEN YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR SERVICE TERMINATED. RIDICULOUS!

If you want to cancel your account but…
If you want to cancel your account but still have active service you're paying for, ADT is the provider for you. If you want to cancel your account again and be told that you'll be credited for the prior supposedly-canceled period but still have active service you're paying for, ADT is the provider for you. If you want to be put on hold for hours on end, transferred, and hung up on, ADT is the service for you. I recommend them enthusiastically to all masochists out there who have endless free time and limited self respect.
