I hate ADT
I hate ADT.
When everything is running properly and nothing is disconnected or losing battery, you're fine. But if you have to call in.... God Forbid! These people created a "verbal password" for me when I moved locations that was a 4 digit password. I didn't create this, but I could do NOTHING regarding my account including resetting the password, accessing the website, getting technical support. I could give them my name, DOB, social, mother's maiden name, last 5 address.... no luck. They need that 4 digit password that SOMEBODY created or your screwed and have to wait for them to mail you your own password to verify who you are. Really efficient. I'm the one paying the damn bill. You'll take my 16 digit credit card number but you won't reset a password so I can get my camera up and running? ADT sucks. Can't wait till this CONTRACT (never sign a contract with a security company) is over!

I canceled in 11/2020 since we were moving to Florida, new hone owner is using ADT after I canceled and these incompetent at ADT after I canceled still charging me for 6 months! Called them, they wont help and I will be taking them to court for double dipping! Thieves, simple as that, screw ADT cause with my following up north I am telling everyone to switch over to someone else!

ADT charging customer for NO service.
I called to cancel my service after about 18 years of service. After saying that there was no way I would sign a contract to renew, the rep agreed to cancel. I got a confirmation # of my cancellation. I also confirmed that I did not have to return my old equipment. I then made sure about how to remove the keypad and sensors without setting off an alarm, and I told the rep that I planned to remove the system the next day. At no time did the rep say anything about a 30 day period. Now I get a bill for cancellation period monitoring. Monitoring is not possible, so I have to pay for zero service. Way to trick your former customers into paying for nothing. Charging a former customer for services not rendered is a a really bad statement about your ethics.
ADT is the worst company in the world
ADT is the worst company in the world, my system has not worked correctly for months and no one knows how to fix it. It will take 40k to move on from them and I'm pressing my company to.

Got suckered in and signed up for 3 years. After 3 years of paying for a system that rarely worked we called in and cancelled. Took 1 hour of phone calls to get cancelled, transferred 3 times, hung up on twice. Finally could cancel.
Security System had constant problems, at $67 a month you can buy a home security system at Lowes cheaper.

Blatant, Intentional lies by ADT
I received a quote from ADT on an ADT recorded line and was told all details agreed on would be in the contract. I received the email with the contract while the rep was on the phone and let her know that is appeared some agreed upon details were not included. She said no problem, corrected the contract, sent it back x3. For some unknown reason, we were unable to view the entire 10 page contract, called ADT this morning to verify all details, and found out the whole conversation had been a lie. We were told a manager would get in touch today, the silence is deafening. The hardware, pricing and terms agreed upon during this ADT recorded conversation was a total lie.

I am renting my current home and installed ADT Home Security since 2019, which I paid the equipment for $1,800 plus $58/month monitoring fee for 36 months contract. They told me if I move house, they will be able to reinstall/move the equipment into the new house. Now I have to move to another rental home and asked them to move the equipment. They referred me to Blue by ADT. They told me that they can waive the cancellation fee with ADT Home Security (as I am still under contract for another 17 months) and exchange with a better quality equipment. However, when I received and read the contract, the equipment they are giving me is an equipment that is only worth $577 with less sensors that I currently have, and it is a leased equipment which I had to return after another 36 months contract!
For the past two days I have been speaking to 8 ADT personnel over the phone, wasted more than 3 hours of phone calls explaining and re-explaining my situations and none of them are able to give me any resolution! So to cut short, I bought equipment for $1,800, but I am not able to keep it if I move and I had to re-contract with Blue ADT for another 36 months with a LEASED cheaper and lesser equipment which I have to return after 36 months. This is a rip off ADT!

Rubbish package and awful customer service who make lots of errors when it comes to billing people. Was overcharged by them as my invoice was higher than the amount agreed with the salesperson. ADT has not sorted this after several weeks and their service advisors are awful. Also had prompts the alarm was going off when it wasn’t. Am currently escalating my compliant with watchdog consumer advice. I don’t recommend at all. Worst service I have ever received from a company who actually lie to people about costs and charge them more. I even have a signed contract showing the price agreed yet ADT service advisors are illegally trying to charge more money.

Adt is a waste of money. I bought a house in 2015. A adt solicitor came to my door an talked me in to a contract.
I sold my house. They said I had to pay over $1000. I said I didn't want it at the new place. They basically blackmailed me into buying it again. I'd like to see there representatives in person so I could give them a piece of my mind face to face. I would love to see the business pay back all their customers for wasting their money.

ADT has confirmed they have been double billing me for over a year, I was unaware of I until I was doing my taxes and discovered ADT was charging me from two different accounts. I have been trying to recover the cost for over 4 months and still have not been paid back. I finely had to hire an attorney and have to take ADT to small claims court.

It is impossible to cancel the service. I was transferred between 3 departments and finally told there is a 30 day notice so even I called to cancel, they will charge me for another month.
ADT service tech a no-show
ADT contacted me in February to schedule a service visit to upgrade our system for 5G. The first available appointment was April 16 which was 8 weeks from the date of my call. MyADT shows appt for 4/16, 8 am to noon. No tech this morning. Called ADT at noon, and was told to wait a couple hours as tech was probably running late. Called again at 2 pm, this time found out that ADT didn’t have a tech available and offered another appt at end of April. I spent 6 hours waiting for a tech that wasn’t dispatched and 60 minutes on hold waiting for information. I have rated 2 stars because the customer service reps were helpful and personable. Otherwise I would have given zero stars. ADT, I’m very disappointed in you. I do hope your monitoring service is better than service calls.

Do not get ADT alarm system. They have been taking money out of my account for 7 years. I have never installed ADT in my home. I dont even live in the home that they are saying the security system was installed. I have been fighting this for awhile now and still no relief. The payment changes every month and the date of withdrawal changes every month. I have contacted the bank to stop all monies withdrawal but where ADT changes dates and amounts of withdrawal there isn't anything the bank can do.
PLEASE DO NOT EVER SIGN OR EVEN SPEAK WITH ADT THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO CHARGE YOU. DO NOT LET THEM EVEN ENTER YOUR HOME.
ADT Secure 24
ADT's install vendor, Secure 24, has a serious customer care problem in that they are only open M – F, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Central time. If you have an issue within your first 90 days of installation, you’re out of luck. If you try to escalate an issue, it will go nowhere and the Director of Installation, Kyle Homar, will not take your call. CEO Kevin Tihen is also unreachable and customer service will tell you they do not have his contact information. You will be stuck speaking with low-level supervisors who, while trying to be helpful, are not at all helpful.
Bottom line, this is a very small group of people who do not seem to have the professional maturity or infrastructure to put customers first; they are not available to support after 6 p.m. or weekends. If Secure 24 is who ADT says they use as their installer, DON’T GO WITH ADT, FIND SOMEONE ELSE.
Secure 24 is ADT’s installation vendor in our area. Saturday, April 10, only 12 days after Secure 24 installed our ADT alarm we had a hardware malfunction. We were out of town for the weekend, thankfully, only a three hour drive away, because ADT said they could not re-boot the alarm because it was still under Secure 24’s 90 day contract time. We called Secure 24 four times Saturday, leaving two panicked messages before I googled them to find out they are only open M – F Central time. We drove the three hours back to the house to spend 15 seconds fixing the problem with ADT on the phone.
We called Secure 24 Monday morning (because they still had not called us) and spoke with CS Rep who was not aware that we had left two messages on Saturday but said she would escalate the issue. Five hours later, when we had not heard from anyone at Secure 24, we called again. Different CS Rep said he would escalate to his supervisor who was still on break for 20 minutes. Called ADT again and they said it was Secure 24’s problem to fix, transferred us back to same CS Rep at Secure 24.
A low-level supervisor finally called us to apologize but could not do anything to help (we had already fixed the issue Saturday) so we said we wanted to cancel the service. They said we could but would charge us the remaining 23 months of the contract. We reminded them that they had already violated the terms of the contract when they were not available to help us with an emergency on Saturday. We asked to speak to his supervisor (Director of Installations, Kyle Homar) but he was “in meetings” and going home at 6 p.m., like a professional leader in a customer-facing organization does (not ever do!). Kyle refused to take any of our calls. Basically, Kyle Homar hid from us and left his lower-level supervisor to deal with us.
For your own safety, I was stay far, far away from Secure 24 as they do not seem to take customer care or safety very seriously. Why ADT is using them is a mystery but it says a lot about ADT that they have such unprofessional vendors operating in their name.

Only even giving 1 star because I have to. I’m only a year into my contract, and I’m already disgusted with the service. At my original install, within 1 week my doorbell camera stopped working which means taking a second day off from work to wait for a technician. That should’ve been a red flag of how this contract would go.
Fast forward a few months later, there was a billing error on ADT’s end causing me to get charged through auto pay TWICE on top of a late fee. How do you pay a late fee when the service is on AUTOPAY!?
Yesterday, I had a technician scheduled to put in a new lock pad for my door and they gave me yet another 5 hour window. Not only did they not show up causing me to lose a full day at work, they didn’t even call to reschedule! I had to call back myself, just to get told someone would call within 24 hours for reschedule, and that I would not be compensated for any of the issues mentioned! I cannot WAIT until this contract is done so I can switch to ANYBODY else at this point!
There are much better alarm companies out there
Bought a house that previously had ADT installed. So service tech came to activate system. The only new equipment we received was a fire detector and the monitor box by the door. The system has been going off randomly about once a week, sometimes more and always after we have all fallen asleep. Every time a tech comes out to fix the problem, they charge $25. They even charged for new batteries when I only had the system for 3 months. And they charge $3 a battery. Our house needed 20 batteries. Why would we need new batteries on a new system? Oh that's right because all our equipment is old. They don't bother giving you new equipment when you sign up. I think I am going to switch companies because my health and my families health depends on it. We can not get woken up to alarms going off once, twice a week, sometimes more, sometimes less, in the middle of the night for no reason. The alarm tonight went off because the glue came off one of the window sensors. Yep, it's glued on. This is awful. When my son is sleep deprived he has Grand Mal seizures, which can kill him. What is supposed to be keeping us safe is actually causing us harm. I would hire an attorney if they tried to charge me a cancellation fee at this point. This is awful.

I keep getting the run around about the "claims process". They are so full of crap. Do NOT make the same mistake I made- PLEASE USE ANY OTHER COMPANY!! All they are concerned with is selling you costly equipment & charging high monthly fees. I can't wait to cancel my service with them. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. Worst company to deal with. I am appalled with the terrible service. BEWARE if you are a business owner because ADTs system will allow burglars to luxuriously steal from you site and give them all the time in the world to do so and they still won't give a damn. I literally had a break in where burglars broke into my store and spent over 30 min hanging out, laughing and joking. ADT sensors did not pick up that someone was in my site for over 30min - at that point they weren't even trying to sneak around and the sensors still took time to pick up anything. The videos I have shows this very clearly.ADT is only concerned with collecting money and arent interested in actually providing service. I've spent a year and half waiting for a response from them as well
Don’t waste your money
Honestly this was the biggest waste of money literally ever. When we got adt they made us sign a 3 year contract that was supposed to include a free NEST thermostat and a RING doorbell but instead they brought their own versions of those items that were very cheap and didn’t work right. The installer punched a huge hole in my wall on my new house i just bought while installing the alarm pad and just left it. We could only get live feed on the doorbell about 15 percent of the time and the rest of the time it didn’t show me any clips or feed of any kind. We had no video feed for months. When i called they blamed it on my WiFi which I’ve never had a problem with on any other devices. Just their cheap equipment. I’ve had packages stolen straight from in front of my adt camera with no video to show for it. When they finally did come to fix my equipment, two years into their crappy service, they found that the equipment was broken due to weather exposure so they replaced it. It worked for about two weeks and then stopped working again. I’m done with this terrible service and company. They started billing us for two months at a time with no warning, causing my account to go negative. When i called they would not take responsibility for the mistake they made. They claimed they would return one month of charges but they never did. I bought an actual RING system for less than 200$ and i pay a monthly fee of 3$. So worth it.

Leaving 1 star because I have to. My husband is getting deployed and so we have to cancel our contract and after getting the third degree, we were told we would be charged $600 as a cancellation fee and that to waive that we would need to fax or send a letter to ADT explaining our situation. What? He. Is. Getting. Deployed. And that it could take 30 days to process. He didn’t even have 30 days notice before he was told he was leaving. This company is acting like they’ve never heard of the military and what they do. Absolute nonsense.
Feels like a complete and utter scam. There are too many security options out there and we won’t be using ADT in the future.

I bought a home and ADT was already installed. I wanted to activate the existing system. Apparently this was impossible without an onsite visit. I scheduled a technician to come out.
It turns out that he was a sales guy and wasn't going to do anything that day--but not before he showed up an hour and a half past the scheduled window, as though my purpose in life was to wait around for him and certainly not as though I have a job or anywhere to be or anything else to do.
After wasting that time, he then claimed that I needed an upsell on equipment and used every high pressure tactic in the book. When I say I don't want the extra equipment, he adds it to the estimate later and insists it is necessary. And then says that he needs to schedule an actual technician to come in and look at the system--but not until I sign the 36 month contract.
The technician did show up within the appointment window--about 5 minutes before it elapsed. He proceeded to take over 4 hours, including setting off the alarm multiple times, and billing for more parts that were not on the original estimate.
Why did the sales person need to come out to do a quote and see everything if the tech was going to need to look at everything as well and have a completely different assessment and quote? That remains a mystery.
The tech continues to set off the alarm several more times without warning. He doesn't seem to care that this is an inconvenience or that ear-piercing alarms might possibly impact anyone else in the house. When I ask how much longer the alarm will be going off, he shrugs.
At this point I am over 8 hours sunk on service calls with a system that I have no confidence in. Great job, ADT. Great job.
The moment the contract expires I will be switching to a different security system. It is appalling that the ADT attitude seems to be "We have your money so we have no obligation to provide service in a timely manner nor respect your time or home."
I cannot recommend ADT to anyone unless you enjoy having your time wasted by multiple subcontractors who do not seem to know what they are doing. Clearly their business model is based on locking customers into contracts for a 3-year period and not on repeat business or a reputation for quality service.

The worst security service ever!!! Coming to your door and tricking you into a vaguely written contract. Abusing and harassing customers over their ending of contracts. Misinforming clients regarding terms and conditions of their contract. Unprofessional customer service. Expensive monthly fees for no good security service.
Never fall for this company!!! There are numerous good reliable and cheap home security service companies which are very professional and accountable. Please advertise this message so others don’t get into trouble.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. Do NOT use ADT they make you sign a 3-year contract and won’t let you take your equipment you paid for when you move. I’m moving into an apartment, as my new home is being built. They told me I have to leave my equipment ($700 I paid for) and either I sign a new 3 year contract and buy new equipment for my temporary housing or pay them $1k to get out of my contract. I’m paying the $1k to get out of my contract this is a domino effect I will never get out of..I’m sure when I finally move to my permanent address I’ll have to sign another 3 year contract and I’m sure the equipment won’t be right. No Thank You-ADT you’re a joke and I’m telling everyone I know not to use you-including the homeowners that just bought my home.
Three year contract to install a deadbolt??
Customer service it the absolute worst. I tried to have a keypad deadbolt added to the system and after 8 years as a month-to-month customer, they say I can only have that installed if we sign a new 3 year contact. I am selling my houses later this year, so that makes no sense, as their penalty for cancelling is 75% of the remaining monthly amounts due. I will never use this company again.
