I'm sick of their lies and deceit
We bought our first home last January and the previous homeowners left their setup for ADT so we decided to give them a shot. After calling to transfer services to our names, we were told we would keep the new costumer price for the duration of the contract and the length was our choice. We decided on 36 months but after that the price would change to the typical rate if we decided to renew. Seemed to go well the first year until I had to have some equipment fixed/replaced and was told it was covered on the phone. The technician saw something different on his computer which cause us to fight for a refund of about $500 when we were charged unexpectedly. This took over two months even though they kept saying I was wrongly charged since my plan did cover the services. We are now past the year mark and apparently our monthly bill is now increasing even though we were told differently when we signed up. I am sick of their lies and deceit. Save your money and time by setting up your own system, or at least avoid these crooks. I am counting down the days I can cancel since I highly doubt they will let me out of the contract. I do plan on calling to try still so fingers crossed.
UPDATE***
So I reached out to the email provided below and they were no help at all. They don't care at all that their sales representative lied about their services to make us sign up longer. I will make sure no one in my family or anyone I know uses ADT in the future. My sister was even looking for a security service for her new home so I will make sure she is well aware of this.
System Never Worked - Complete Scam
We've had ADT security for about a year in our new home. In that time the system has never worked properly. Doors that are closed and locked read as open on the hub and cause false alarms. The sensors are extremely cheap and fall off of the doors constantly, which create more false alarms. In the end we just stopped using the system at all.
Only thing more frustrating was ADT's response to the whole thing. Their suggestion was to just send more techs to reattach the garbage sensors to the doors, which would resolve the issue for about a week and then we'd be back to square one. Eventually our rep just started ignoring our emails, which is when we decided to cancel.
We just paid roughly $1,000 to stop being customers of ADT, that's how bad the service is. If you feel you need home security, look for a local option if you can. A large company like this will just read you cookie-cutter responses when you complain and not resolve anything.

Unscrupulous dealings with a senior. Poor customer service
ADT sales person had my 87 year old father sign a 5 year contract at a rate I find out now was higher than normal. A five year contract with an obviously elderly gentleman??
When we had to cancel the contract since my elderly parents had to sell their house it took hours on the phone to do so. Additionally they charged my father $360 dollars cancellation fee since his 5 year contract was not up yet. Two days after the cancellation date (with the new owners now residing in the home) I was called by ADT about an emergency at house. Actually they called me and then put me on hold for a few minutes before telling me there was an emergency. When I told them we had cancelled the contract and shouldn't be receiving this call of course the person on the phone said they couldn't help me with that and transferred me to another department - I was put on hold and finally had to hang up after 45 minutes. So I can look forward to another lengthy call to make sure the contract was cancelled as requested.
This company obviously has no scruples taking advantage of an senior citizen and also has no regard for their customer's valuable time.

If I could give a negative half a star I would. I’ve been a customer for over 20 years with no issues. I canceled my service and one week later my keypad starts beeping at all hours of the day and night. I called customer service and they clearly told me there was absolutely nothing that they could do. Said it was my responsibility to hire a contractor to come out and disconnect cables. I requested to speak with a supervisor, they sent an email while I was on the phone to the team leader who said yes there’s nothing they can do it is now my responsibility. I discussed my extreme displeasure of being a customer for so many years that they should be sending a tech out for this quick job and they again said not our problem. Mysteriously 10 minutes after that phone call my entire keypad went dark and the beeping stopped. Unusual timing???? Very very poor customer service

ADT is telling me I owe $210.00 due to a verbal contract over the phone in 2018 . I have no knowledge of this and don't think this is right. Please use caution when speaking to someone over the phone , I have had more then one account with adt back then . They don't see that but , wants me to pay for a verbal contract. ( Sad )
ADT Deceives
Please report ADT to the BBB and to your state Consumer Protection Division Office of the Attorney General. The more people that complain about ADT the more we can raise awareness to government officials to look into ADT deceptive business practice so that the government officials can stop ADT deceptive business practice. ADT act like they are untouchable. ADT not only deceived and tricked me into a three year contract but many others. They prey on people ignorance. ADT Security has horrible customer service.

Talk about tricking you into signing a contract! ADT contacted me to say I HAD to change my equipment, I didn't even know what needed to be changed. They said they were changing everyone's equipment. After it was installed the installed said I had to sign a new contract. I have been with ADT for over 30 years, why should I have to sign a new contract? I signed under protest. First they tell me I must change, then they spring on me that a new contract must be signed with any new equipment. What BS!

This is the worst security company, Location Madison Heights Michigan. Very poor service, They trick people into contracts, Their equipment for cameras are terrible. There's never anyone in office to speak with. If you are lucky enough to get someone in the Madison Heights office they are very nasty. They are very angry people, Their technicians are in a hurry and all times. Their camera system sucks. Save your money shop a round. Scammers is what they are.

We canceled our account and had services terminated over a month ago and we're still receiving bills/calls trying to collect payment... we spoke with so many reps/agents/supervisors to get to the bottom of the issue and speaking to a rep now they have no record of any conversations or agents coming to pick up our equipment.
We've waited 1-2 hours on the phone, on hold and bumping between agents trying to get tech support makes it damn near impossible to get effective service.
Now I'm being informed by the SECURITY COMPANY that I trusted my information with that there's a possibility that someone who was not from ADT was the one to pick up my equipment. TELL ME HOW ITS POSSIBLE THAT IF THE SECURITY SYSTEM IS SO SECURE, "SOMEONE WHO IS NOT FROM ADT" KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT EQUIPMENT I HAVE AND WHERE ITS ALL LOCATED!? And the day that the equipment was picked up, there were multiple alarms set off. IF THERE WERE MULTIPLE ALARMS SET OFF THEN WHY DID WE NOT GET ANY CALLS ABOUT IT AND WHY DID I FIND OUT ABOUT IT OVER A MONTH LATER?!!!
To recap...Our equipment didn't work right from day one. We were given different information regarding our contract and cancelation from each person we talked to, the only constant from the agents was that there was a cancelation fee. "Someone not from ADT" was the one in our home picking up our equipment and setting off alarms that no one responded to. And to top it all off, there's no record or paper trail of any of these conversations and requests.
Will never ever use ADT again and will alway recommend against them.

I have been a loyal customer with ADT for over 14 years, which is why I was surprised when they sent me a cancellation fee of £53 when I informed them I was moving home.
Thanks ADT for this parting insult, I will cross you off my list of security providers for my new home.
Not a military friendly company
Not a military friendly company. They charge more than the wall mount and two sensors for 800.00 to cancel account. I ended in the mental ward 2x after talking to a ADT phone agent. Be REALLY SCAARED if you served our country for 30 plus years. ADT is not a military friendly company, they advertise on military sites, DO NOT BE ducked in, only to find you owe more to cancel. I have stopped my anxiety mess and depression meds just to pay ADT MONTLY,
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Had two appointments with four hour windows. 1st time guy doesn’t show up. 2nd time they show up late. Called customer service to complain and they couldn’t care less. All they wanted to do was schedule another four hour window then tell me it’s not a guarantee. Why bother telling people a time window then . Might as well tell you just wait all day and maybe someone might show up. Switching my business account ASAP and the home account as soon as the contract runs out. Done with incompetence. Never again.

Been messed about by these guys for 10 days now . Agreed to a cctv camera paid a deposit. Still haven't got an installation date . Everytime we ring told they can't deal with it . Spoke to so many people. Repeatedly blown off and led down the garden path . Repeatedly promised call backs . Doesn't happen . Once they have your money there onto the next sale it seems. No after care . We have paid money and have nothing. Be extremely careful.

I have been a 28 years customer of ADT for home security. I’ve recently retired, so I am paying more attention to companies I pay for services. I traveled extensively while working so my wife had been dealing with ADT’s poor products and especially poor customer service on the phone till now. I’m now switching to a different provider with more advanced equipment and services than ADT. I called ADT to cancel my account after 28 years and was told I would have to call them back the day before I wanted to cancel. I suggested they were being informed NOW and needed to place that in the record. The ADT CSR on the phone refused to do it! I’m NOT planning to call ADT back per her suggestion. I’m done. So much for being a customer for 28 years. EVERY call with them has been problematic. Don’t expect them to care about your issues or help resolve a problem. My experience is it is up to the customer to upload, download, fix or do whatever to help yourself.

This company is a joke. Been a customer 5 years was lied to by a rep, his supervisor listens to the call and heard the lie, then tell me oh well there’s nothing She can do about it. Called cooperate and Dede told me the same thing. Just cancelled my service and looking for anyone. Thank God I didn’t get in another contract with them!!!! Good riddance
Bad service
I called and made a post about ADT services. They did email me asap and set for someone to come out e days later. Today is that day. I been waiting 8am till 12pm. Its now 12:30pm. No call and no show. I work 6pm to 6am. So I don't have all to stay up.
Appointment scheduling
I was contacted and informed the system will need a change due to the cable in the area being upgraded. This will allow ADT to continue monitoring our home. There was no availability for weekday after 6pm scheduling or weekend scheduling to complete this task. I work and will not use 4 hours vacation time and wait for service. Unfortunately I will have to change security to a company that is more flexible. It is unfortunate but evidently the company does not value my business. Following review of the comments below, I am concerned
Mislead and unfair
I have been a customer with ADT for many years. We had numerous false alarms during one weekend and when I called ADT I was told it may be the main battery that may need replaced, so we ordered and replaced the battery, then the following weekend we continued to have more false alarms , I called and asked for a tech to be scheduled to come out to our location and was told from the tech the false alarms were due to faulty sensors, which were then replaced. Then I received an enormous bill from the city due to many false alarm fine estimating over $1,500. I contacted ADT, was told if we paid the false alarm fines we can be reimbursed by ADT. We paid the fines , went back and forth months with False alarm investigation dept. and at the end given $125. credit on our account. This is so unfair , misleading and dissatifying . Very disappointed , especially after being a long time small business customer and only told we apologize you were given incorrect information from our staff.
BUYER BEWARE
BUYER BEWARE: the "early" cancellation fee is HUGE. If you need to end a contract early, you pay 75% of the contract balance. I cancelled my system 3 years early because I was relocating. I moved to an apartment building with keyed access. I was charged $1,200 for the cancellation!
Note: What's really upsetting is that I've been a customer for 15 years, at two different residences. ADT is *not* customer facing. They have a total disregard for customer loyalty. Had I ever needed an alarm system in the future, I would've gone with ADT. But now -- they've lost a customer for life.

The ADT blue equipment was cheap and not reliable as one of doors would randomly go offline and I was sent a motion detector that didn’t work. Also, this ends up being very expensive as you have about $800 in equipment to purchase plus a monthly fee. You pay the $800 up front for no contract or you pay for the equipment over a 36 month contract. If you choose to terminate early, you still owe the equipment costs AND have to send the equipment back. Customer support has been poor every time I called with dropped calls or an individual not knowing how to fix a problem. There are far better companies with better equipment, support, and costs
ADT is nothing but a "sales pitch"
ADT is nothing but a "sales pitch". They continuously put you on hold and transfer the call to yet another person. They promise you service they cannot provide. I am more than frustrated with them. I had to upgrade my system due to my system not working for the three years that I have been with them. They have been to my house numerous times, replacing a camera and still it didn't work. I was told that upgrading to their new system is the key! I was told that my current cameras would work in the upgrade and they absolutely didn't. Even my outside siren's need replacing and they claim they are not available yet with this new system. What a rip off and total con job I have received from ADT.... lets see if the new siren's will come in and installed for no more money than I have already paid!
