They get money from you. But they do not help you, instead, they cause you problems. My husband is old(92) but quite healthy. But his legs are very weak. When he could not stand from the floor, I called ADT for help. Instead of helping him, they took him to UCLA emergency. The emergency examined him for a week. Nothing wrong. Meantime, he was held on the bed all the time. As a result he can not stand at all. Now poor my husband is in the bed of nursing home. Do not trust ADT. They are only interested in your money. They are awful company.

We had security services in Florida with ADT. When we moved to Texas we canceled our services in Florida and scheduled a reinstall in our new home in Texas. The install went fine in Texas however upon review of our bank account six months later we found that the dealer in Florida had continued to bill us for the old address. We contacted customer service in mid July, Mid August and now twice in Sept 2019 and were assured that a refund was forthcoming each time.
It is now nearly the end of Sept and we still wait for our $400. Customer Service says they are at the mercy of the local dealer in Boca Raton. That means the national company accepts not responsibility for the actions and poor business practices of its licensed agents.
These people should not be trusted with the safety of your homes. They simply steal your money and then use every excuse to absolve themselves from responsibility for problems with their customer service. If you want home security services don't use these people. They are scam artists.

Fraudulent charges
My daughter wanted ADT and she had cash to pay for the installation fee. She called and asked if I would pay it with my debit card and she would bring me the cash. The charge was $548.11. I asked the installer to verify I would only be charged ONE time. He replied, "That was correct." Well I have just found out they have charged me 2 more times of $548.11 for a total of $1096.22. I have called numerous times and have been hung up on intentionally by representatives that work at ADT. They keep telling me that there is nothing they can do. My daughter has also talked to them and let them know that I am telling the truth. BEWARE of ADT. I consider this fraud to knowingly charge someone's card without their PERMISSION!

The system was armed and all the tests were done we set the alarm and ret it off twice all was well .

Poor installation service
Consultant came to our house within 24 hours of online enquiry, I made a payment on the same day. Consultant promised installation will be complete in 2 weeks.
No response from A/E and after escalation to area manager, got date for installation today (after 4 weeks). Engineer did not come, called installation and was told that they had not booked the engineer.
Unapologetic, poor service, ADT think they are a big firm and don’t mind loosing customers. Disgraceful service and I have complained formally.

Worst experience ever!
Our experience has been a nightmare from day 1. They sent 2 technicians to our home, and of the 2 only 1 knew what he was doing and could answer our questions. They were at our house for 8 hours but were unable to complete the installation during that time. The next day ADT charged my husband’s debit card and credit card at the same time and the duplicate charges were not even for correct amount. The following day the same 2 technicians returned to our house where they spent another 7 hours trying to install the cameras. Actually, 1 guy worked while the other guy slept in the car. Again after a total of 15 hours our equipment STILL does not work. They told my husband they would extend their 3 day cancellation policy to 30 days due to the problems encountered and the fact that our security system was still not complete. At this point I’m super upset and losing sleep due to no security at our house. I have spent over 5 hours on the phone with multiple staff members at ADT with no resolution. Yesterday I was promised that the local service manager from Wichita would be out today between 9am and 3pm. Unfortunately that was also a lie. Instead they sent 2 other technicians to our home and they were there for 3 hours. Yes you guessed it, our equipment STILL DOES NOT work. I was given the supervisor’s direct number and left 3 very detailed messages for him to return my call as soon as possible, but never received a call back. All I want is for them to pick up their equipment and refund our money so we can call another company. At this point if ADT offered to upgrade our equipment and monitor our home for free I would say no. I have lost every ounce of trust for this company. If you are looking for security, protection and a peace of mind I highly suggest you look elsewhere.
Got ADT Control installed in June 2019…
Got ADT Control installed in June 2019 after a break into home. For the last 2.5 months it has been constant problems. The sensors do not communicate properly with the panel. ADT installers and technicians have been out 6x!
Yesterday I finally believed that they had fixed the problem. Well that was true for one of the sensors. But last night additional sensors not communicating and the alarm system went off without the system even being armed! Needless to say this was very upsetting as it was at 10:30pm and I had no idea if this would happen again during the night.
In addition I have had the system armed and windows open with no bypass to see what it would do. Well no alarm for 6 hours until I closed the windows!
The only way this system is going to work is if I have a live in ADT technician. I have to reboot the system 6x a day which is impossible if you are gone from the home. So I have had to have someone come to house and reboot it which only lasts for a short time.
So frustrated, upset and disappointed. They are scheduled for tomorrow am again and they just left yesterday afternoon.
I am really ready to get this security system out and my money back!!

ADT - Defenders - bad experience
As long as ADT continues to use third party vendors like Defenders they will not succeed . Their advertising is a LIE, the sad part is that ADT continues to transfer the call to Defenders ( where there is no resolution). Not all conversations are noted so you have to repeat , argue and the same thing when you call back for status . False advertising all around. Everyone blames everyone and no one is held accountable . I wish I would have never paired attention to email advertising and fallen for this JOKE. Waste of my money and time....

Worst ever alarm system
I have had to cancel my ADT alarm as it keeps having issues with the batteries. Every now and then I have to call the engineer to change them, or check faults. The worst alarm system I have ever had by far. I was told that it was pet friendly: false. I was advised a wireless alarm and the cats keep disconnecting the Wifi. I should have been advised a wired alarm. The one I've got is really pet unfriendly. And now I am told that I have to pay £160-sh to cancel the account. I feel cheated, and would never recommend ADT to anyone. It surprises me that Which? recommends such as horrible company. Beware of ADT.

Mind you they use an outside vendor or tech people to install your installation. I am a travel nurse and I have a 3 year contract out of the country and the want me to harass the new tenants to take over the contract. If you cant move service, how is that my fault? Adam Cook, worst representative I've ever spoken to in my life. Rude, Unprofessional, Lack of customer service/support. Monotone, unsympathetic. DISGUSTED!!! Please I beg you, do your research and use other companies that wont take advantage of people's money. I dont even use the darn thing, never did, from day one! ADT sucks and DO NOT USE THEM
I got my ADT system put in April 2019. As soon as I got it installed- I began having problems. Long story short- the initial tech that came out didn't check to see if our doorbell actually worked. So after having 2 different techs come out and the ADT office sending me some weird white small router boxes- the last tech that came out figured out that the wiring in my house is messed up and that I would need to hire a licensed electrician. I figured I could keep the system if I kept recharging out doorbell camera, but that got old very quickly. I had to keep charging almost every other day. And I didn't want to hire an electrician to rewire my house because that would cost thousands of dollars which I do not have.
So I called them back and wanted to cancel the whole thing all together. My purpose of even getting the security system was for the door bell camera.
I called and spoke with Rashida and she said "oh great, you're within the 6 months money back guarantee so I will get it scheduled for the master tech to come out and declare that ADT cannot rewire the home and you should get a full refund" She told me that she could have the master tech come out the next day 8/1/2019 between 11am and 3pm. So the next day rolls around, I plan my day around the time frame.. 1pm rolls around and I call them just to check and make sure that the tech will be there. The representative answers and says "let me call the tech and see where he is at" then he comes back on the line and said "he'll be there right at 3"
Okay, that's fine. I will run my errands when he leaves. 3:15 rolls around and he is still not here. I call back and the representative says "let me call to see what is going on" he comes back on the line and said, the tech that was supposed to come out has cancelled and given the job to another tech. let me call him... he then tells me that the second tech will be there in 90 minutes..
SO NOW I HAVE WASTED MY ENTIRE AFTERNOON TO FIND OUT THAT THEY HAVE PUSHED MY APPOINTMENT. And my biggest question is-- WAS ANYONE GOING TO CALL ME AND TELL ME??!!! I had to call to find out.
So at this point I am irate. I tell the representative the whole situation and how I want to cancel because I am not paying all this money on something that isn't working correctly due to the mistake of THEIR OWN TECHNICIAN. So he is super understanding and schedules it for Friday 8/2 at 8am. He reads through the notes and tells me the same thing that Rashida tells me. That it should be taken care of and that he'll send out the master tech.
So Friday 8/2/19 8am rolls around. I am up and waiting for the tech to show up because I need to be out of the house by 9:30am.
8:30am rolls around and STILL NO TECH. So I call again.... TURNS OUT THAT THERE IS NO APPOINTMENT SET.
This new representative tells me "oh it is NOT possible to get a refund and you cannot cancel your contract unless you pay it out ($1700)" We can send someone out there and take the camera back... and we can lower your payment fro $58/month to $52/month. HAHA WHAT AN EFFING JOKE. so because your techs screwed up, now I am being punished. I DO NOT WANT THE SYSTEM UNLESS I HAVE THE DOORBELL CAMERA. If the tech had done his job correctly then I would not be in this situation.
So then I ask to speak with a manager, and of course she tells me the same thing. I am just so angry because they offer such little for a customer that is now stuck in a contract because they have incompetent techs. It shouldn't have taken 3 different techs to figure out that the wiring in my house is messed up. Then I asked if I can downgrade to the lowest plan $27/month. and she said NO you are not allowed to down grade after 30 days of installation.
Bottom line- don't use ADT. They do not help and they want to make sure that they get paid even when their employees screw something up.
Oh.....and it's a 3 year contract.

I have been having a horrible experience with ADT. I can't even begin to list the number of problems and terrible customer service. I've lost so much money with the amount of time I've had to spend. I want out and I want my money back and I am not having success getting that so far. I have rarely dealt with a company this bad.

Slow to react, ineffective response and faulty equipment.
Every time my alarm goes off I have to call the monitoring center for them to reset it. Normally involves about 20 minutes waiting on the phone only for them to turn around and say they have to book me in with a technical team who call you back - in this case it would be in the middle of the night which wasn't possible. Due to being away the next day I had no alarm for the weekend. Not a good security company - slow, ineffective and faulty equipment.

Signed up for ADT unfortunately I believed what the people who came to install it only to discover that they lied about almost everything whe you call ADT the refer you back to the agents that lied to you and they just get nasty stuck with them for three years and they have st the point I will write a negative review somewhere every day for that three years hoping that no one else falls for the lies. On top of that I bought the doorbell camera that stopped working after a few day feel like I was robbed by those that promised security, so I have installed my own camera system for less than the charged and no monthly fee

5 days ago I submitted my issues to alwaysthere per their request three days later I sent a copy to ADT TO INSURE THEY RECEIVED IT TO DATE NOT EVEN SO MUCH AS an acknowledgement.

Very bad customer service. Technicians do not followup, accounts department will just take over and switch off the network when you are still waiting for support.
Clearly ALL departments DO NOT speak to one another and leave the customer out on the lurch - waiting.
Videos do not support recording of motion - if and when it does - it is minimal and inconsistent.
I was sold a system that I would be supported IN FULL if I press my emergency button - this is a complete lie

For those of you who have or about to have the ADT Pulse System installed, arming it in the “Stay” mode using your smart phone ADT Pulse app, you do not have the security of “No Delay Entry” arming. If you have this system installed, you and your family are seriously at risk and you probably wasn’t informed of this during the sale of this service.
I found this anomaly shortly afterwards or rather a couple months of having the system installed. One morning I accidentally opened the garage door while the system was armed and went into the garage and returned and the alarm did not trigger. At first, I’m thinking maybe the system malfunctioned, so I tested the system with other zones and found the same problem with all zones that there was a 45 second delay before the alarm is triggered. Not knowing what the problem was I got in touch with the sales rep and informed him of the problem.
Long story short, I began working with several entities in the ADT organization to try to get this problem rectified and trying to get them to understand that this delay in triggering the alarm is a problem if there is an intrusion and you and your family are asleep. Believe it or not, I had several persons try to convince me this is a normal feature. The one comment was hilariously stupid I might say, “if a burglar enters and is trying to disarm the system and have not done so within the 45-seconds the arm will trigger and awaken you”. Really? After several of these ineffable conversations I began to realize they were trying to cover up something they already knew was a problem with the Pulse system and that it was engineered flawed and there is no way overcome this problem if arming the system in the “Stay mode" with the Pulse app.
Their only suggestion was for me to manually arm the system using a series of commands from the secondary panel that were installed with the system or a tertiary panel that they can install in another location at my request or with the use of a key fob, all of which they will provide. I stated to them I wanted Touch screens and mobile phone operations and not for me to have to physically walk to my panel each night to arm the system. I explain to them that two of the most common methods of operating a security system nowadays are touch-screen control panels and mobile devices. They are less “less complicated” to use than the ways of old where you controlled the system using a series of keyed entries into the old fashion panel.
I declined their offer of additional equipment because the last thing I wanted was additional or outdated equipment in my house or to carry around when I specifically asked for a system that I can manage using my mobile devices. After this went on for a couple weeks and they couldn’t offer a solution that was agreeable, I began inquiring about their 6-month customer satisfaction guaranty and this is where it began to get ugly.
They tell me this problem doesn’t fall under the customer satisfaction agreement as the system work as designed I just had to arm the system as per their instructions and that If I cancelled the contract I would be obligated for 75% of the remainder of the contract. And the takeaway here is the 6-months satisfaction guarantee is a scam
The bigger problem here is that I wasn’t made aware made of this upfront during sales or installation. So, what does all this means to the average customer; YOUR HOME AND FAMILY IS NOT SECURE IN THE "Stay Mode" using the smartphone Pulse app!

This company has a classic bait and switch business model. When we called ADT to have a system installed they sent their authorized representative Defenders to install our system.
We wanted to protect two homes and an outbuilding on the same property. We were originally told that this would require two systems with a separate panel for both houses. The outbuilding was to be part of one house’s system. After 4 days (not exaggerating) it was determined that the outbuilding was too far from either house and so it needed its own system for protection. We agreed to the additional cost and the third panel was installed.
From the first conversation when we scheduled the installation we were assured my account would be consolidated for billing purposes regardless of the number of physical locations on my property or the number of addresses covered under the account. I also was assured that a manual billing was possible and the only thing they would hit my charge account for was the original installation.
I will spare you the details of the initial billing issues that took months to straighten out but it suffices to say that if you start out with a list of equipment that doesn’t work and you move it to another “location/panel”, don’t expect them to be able to charge one location and credit the other. They have the charges down pat – the credits not so much.
But back to the current issue, for some reason they seem totally incapable of combining the systems like they told me they could do. As a warning to any business out doing research – if you have multiple physical locations you too will have this problem.
They charged my credit card (unauthorized) $58.99 on May 10th that is not reflected on anywhere on my account. The description says “ADT-Protect your home”. I have talked to them about this and received assurances they would investigate and either tell me why I owed it or they would credit my account. I have heard nothing from them and today I found and additional charge (unauthorized) of $58.99 on June 10th that is also not reflected in my account. I called them again today and they are again supposed to call me back since they cannot see any charges to my card on their system. Also, the May 10th is definitely a duplicate billing and I can only assume that given a couple of days I will receive another charge for $58.99 elsewhere on this same location.
The accounting is a mess and last week I received notification that one location was going to stay with Defenders as my provider while the other locations are transferring to ADT. Exactly how do they intend to accomplish that if it’s actually one account? And exactly why is ADT not accepting one of the locations? Is it because I have complained?
My husband and I are both in our seventies and I am beginning to believe that their lack of responsiveness is indeed a reflection of what they can get away with seniors as their clients. I wonder how many other seniors have similar complaints about ADT. I doubt that I am the only one.
We had ADT years ago for our security provider but this is not the same company. I am thoroughly disgusted with this company and their sales practices.
I called ADT to stop automatic payment
I called ADT to stop automatic withdrawl payment and to send paper invoice instead. They confirmed all payments were caught up, no more payments would come out of bank account and the next payment wasn't due until the following month. Three days later another payment was taken out of my bank account and a $35 overdraft fee was charged. I immediately called to request money be returned to acct and they said a check would be mailed out within 10 days. I was very upset so they said they would request it to be done electronically but the $35 overdraft fee would be credited with a check in the mail. Its been 3 weeks now and the $35 check has not arrived. So I called again and spoke to a manager and said that I have to go to the bank and request on their letterhead a letter stating that due to ADT withdrawing payment a $35 overdraft fee was charged. And then after ADT receives that letter they will review case and decide if it will be refunded to account. According to the manager, even though customer service told me that the refund check would go out in the mail and that they would not require bank documentation because it was their error, I was not going to get refund until I got bank letter. Basically their customer service are not trained well or will say whatever they have to in order to please a customer even though they will not follow through. I am very disgruntled with their customer service and the manager is even worse!

ADT supply an alarm system that is so poorly designed and not fit for purpose that a basic summer storm can knock it out.
This has happened to us 3 times in 9 years. Each time we get told that the circuit board is damaged and must be replaced. Bill of nearly £300.00 each time.
On the last occasion I asked why their system is so vulnerable / poorly designed as to be damaged so badly by a thunder storm. I asked why they had not designed their system to have a surge protector built in so as to protect any vulnerable circuit boards.
They came back and said their engineer could fit one. Great, I thought, until they said it would be £150.00 and would fit for free on the next engineers visit.
I asked how a surge protector could cost so much when you can buy them for the electricity supply for under £10.00.
I did not get a decent answer.
However, I did research and found a simple phone line socket that has a built in surge protector. Cost under £10.00 on Amazon and fitted for less than £20.00.
Job done. From what I can tell ADT are profiteering from the damage caused by thunder storms - they rely upon those storms to damage their alarm system so they can carry out vastly over-priced repairs to the system.
I only hope that one day Trading Standards or Which? or some newspaper pick this story up and investigate it.
Until then I'll be less worried about thunder storms now that I have the surge protected phone socket fitted.
Unhelpful and inflexible
Inflexible service times - they only visit Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm. If I were at home in the day I wouldn’t need the alarm.
Awful customer service. We cancelled the account and they continued to take money and were entirely unhelpful.
