ADT didn’t care that my house burnt down
We have had ADT for about 10 years. In March we had a house fire and lost everything. We called them to let them know we needed to suspend service as we didn’t know what would happen next. They informed us that we would have to pay for all of the equipment that burned in the fire. Not one other company that we had contracts with did this. To make people pay money after they have lost everything is absolutely appalling. We will NEVER use ADT again. They lost a long time costumer.

No contract but want cancellation fee
I want a copy of my contract that shows where we signed up for 5 years. That did not happen. I have contacted customer service but no help whatsoever. They want an exorbitant amount of money to cancel something that we never signed. Whatis wrong with you people? You think we are complete dimmys and have no say so when it come to a contract that was never signed except by some computer.

SCAM COMPANY. Been with them for 3 years. First time setting up we had to purchase monitor and camera systems through ADT and was told we were able to take it with us when we move. A year later, moved into another home we are still making flex payments on the previous system; in the process of transferring things ADT company told us we were not able to bring our current system because of their new update so I had to purchase a new monitor and camera system AGAIN, by this time we are now paying on 2 different flex payments for two different systems. Again, I was told I would be able to reuse system in my next home ; here we are a year later. I’m calling to transfer my service and system to new home and they have the same exact sales pitch …” with this new system you’d be able to take with you to any new house you move to…” , no thank you. I’m currently paying on two systems that I can NOT use and they’re trying to set me up for the third , not including my monthly payment for the service alone.
Please do not choose this company. The reviews alone should be enough. I didn’t do my research before and that was my fault for trying to find a fast solution. Been on the phone with ADT for two days and no representatives can seem to help me close my account. How convenient right? Run far away from this scam company. They’re no good, their words means nothing. You’ll end up in three different contracts paying off camera systems that can not be used if you move frequently like I do.

I have to keep watching the ADT commercial on Hulu. The "women??" you have for the segment of "one moment you are single, and one moment you don't want to be", is absolutely the UGLIEST looking woman???? ever! I am disgusted by it. And wouldn't even consider using your company!
Poor Product and Worse Service
For no good reason, our alarm sounded twice in the past 24 hours, most recently at 3:30 am. When I called ADT, they connected me with someone from India who could not diagnose the problem and took 15 minutes to explain how to stop the alarm. Then they assigned me a technician, who tried to walk me through a DIY solution that did not work. For a service fee, ADT will come to my house to fix the problem but is unavailable for a week. Meanwhile we suffer all the alarm outburst while we wait. Along the way, they tried to sell me (for over $400) an upgrade to their 1990 technology. So they want consumers to pay to upgrade their outmoded technology. This is what happens when MBAs run a business -- they milk out every last dime and screw the consumer. Never do business with ADT!

I had my ADT equipment changed to add…smoke / heat alarms and now the system doesn't work
I had my ADT equipment changed to add smoke/heat alarms on June 8th, and the equipment hasn't worked since then.It is now July 23rd and I have had 3 technicians come with a week to 2 weeks wait each time. They have said issue were resolved when they weren't, so ADT will not cancel my monitoring without penalty, even though they know the issues weren't resolved and I had to schedule another technician almost as soon as I started using the system. I have had several false alarms, and wifi faults, and other problems.

On June 1st 2024 my mother passed away…
On June 1st 2024 my mother passed away suddenly. She was the primary caregiver for my father who has late stage Alzheimer's. Well, needless to say, this was a major life changing event. We had to sacrifice everything in order to move to North Carolina, to care for dad.
In handling my obligations to every vendor I was in relationship with, they were very sympathetic, understanding and forgiving of any contractual obligation; cable tv, internet, pest control etc. NOT ADT!!!!!! They were quick to inform me that I still had 75% of my contract to fulfill. $550 for equipment and $750 for service. Not even the offer of a reduce settlement.
This is a cold ruthless company that does not belong in the service industry.
PLEASE RUN FROM THEM and check the small print for any service industry

I have had an appalling experience with ADT. Despite numerous attempts to get my issues resolved, I have not received any response since February 17th. To make matters worse, they have now actioned debt recovery against me. Can someone from ADT please contact me urgently!

I am writing to follow up on my previous communication regarding multiple service failures with my ADT system. Despite repeated attempts to address these issues, I have not received a response or resolution from your team since February 17th.
To recap, my complaints are as follows:
1. **Misrepresentation**: The system I purchased was misrepresented regarding the capability to utilize multiple activation codes on the supplied keypad.
2. **Poor Customer Service**: I experienced delays and unfulfilled promises in the delivery of additional key fobs despite placing an order and being assured of next-day delivery.
3. **Misleading Sales Information**: The functionality of the camera system was misrepresented during the sales process.
4. **Undisclosed Limitations**: Critical limitations regarding app notifications were not disclosed prior to installation.
5. **Notification Restrictions**: The imposed limitations on app notifications have compromised the security of my property.
6. **Equipment Inadequacy**: The system has failed to detect movements within my home, raising concerns about its effectiveness.
7. **Malfunctioning Equipment**: The keypad provided with the system is malfunctioning, further exacerbating the issues.
These ongoing issues have significantly impacted my confidence in ADT's services and have left me feeling extremely frustrated and dissatisfied. As a customer, I expect timely and effective resolution of these matters.
In accordance with the Consumer Credit Act 1974, I am formally requesting a full refund and cancellation of my contract due to the failure to deliver promised services and the provision of substandard equipment.
I kindly request your immediate attention to this matter and a prompt response outlining the steps ADT will take to address my concerns and provide a satisfactory resolution.

ADT, your lack of response and action has led me to take this matter to court. This level of service is completely unacceptable!
Broken garage, broken parts, broken trust
Main problems
Got a new system installed including cameras. Warned the salesman and the installer that I didn't think it was a good idea to install cameras in the garage. They then proceeded to install 4/5 cameras on the same line as my garage door opener. About a week later the entire line if outlets died. Called for repair and they don't want to move the cameras to new outlets to prevent further breakage but also won't honor their money back guarantee. It should really be called a limited parts and service warranty, not a customer satisfaction guarantee.
Also having problems with the glass break sensor which they said could occasionally go off in error. It goes off frequently in error, once while all I was doing was laundry. I asked to have it moved to the same coding as the front door where it beeps before going off to prevent damage to my hearing from when it goes off but they just out it on a silent delay. Worse than the headaches the loud screaming alarm is giving me, my poor dog is 11 years old and is absolutely in pain every time it goes off.
I also had the front door sensor just fall off and break. They wanted to charge me 85$ to send me a replacement, which is more than I initially paid for the device($50). When I had just had it "professionally" installed less than 2 months ago. They eventually waived it but only after my multiple requests for a refund
The main panel also died a few days after install though they atleast fixed that without too much of a fight. Took like 3 weeks though. I don't trust their parts at this point.
Slightly less annoying things,
I told the installer I didn't want the doorbell integrated panel since I'm not a fan of the voice activated devices. He later gave a 'free upgrade' on the wifi extenders but failed to tell me they were voice activated extenders too. They are noisy about me having disabled the mics.
Fairly sure it's not up to code to strip wires so the metal is visible outside the plug boxes. I was just planning to run around covering that with electrical tape but still not a quality install indicator

ADT service is in clear violation of California auto renewal laws. I was not notified about the upcoming charge to my account, you cannot cancel recurring charges easily online, and multiple attempts to cancel over the phone left me on hold for an unreasonable amount of time.
I had no choice but to dispute the charge and block ADT as a merchant with American Express.
Beware
Beware! A 3 year minimum contract is required. ADT most likely will not tell you about the contract. There is a fee of several hundred dollars to break the contract. They will not let you out of the contract, I have tried unsuccessfully many times.
I will never again use or recommend ADT
I was lured into a contract with ADT (actually wasn't ADT but a company that sells their equipment, installs it, and creates contracts as if they are ADT, but are not - I've found out after this most recent occurrence) by the numerous "free" pieces of hardware. However, 18 months into my contract, and having now tried to get service and interact with customer support, I realize the mistake I made.
If you're considering ADT, read reviews - they are predominately 1 start for a reason. The initial not-ADT-but-ADT company came out and installed most of the equipment. They need a simple backing plate for the thermostat and assured me they'd be back as soon as that came in. I never interacted with that tech or that company ever again. They disappeared.
After an unexpected rate hike, I contacted ADT to ask why they were now charging more. During this interaction, I inquired about getting my thermostat actually installed. A good year had passed and apparently, they don't honor any commitments from that original company (or really anything over the first 90 days), so the visit I was told by one customer support rep would be taken care of - is actually my responsibility. They offered to take care of the $60 they charge just to dispatch someone, leaving me with parts and $132 minimum charge for labor...to install something on my contract that no ADT rep every installed.
TLDR; Unplanned rate hikes. Poor customer support. Lack of reliability to complete work (and unpublished timelines to relinquish their responsibility). Contractors that aren't actually ADT may be doing your installation. VERY unreasonable charges for simple work (like say $232 to spend 15 mins putting a thermostat on the wall). And...3 year contracts that can only be broken by paying 75% of the cost up front. This will end up being a 3-year. $3,000+ lesson to never use ADT. Save yourself the time and money.
HORRIBLE
HORRIBLE! It's hard to reach this people for repair service then they'll charge you $60.00 for the dispatch. You will setup for virtual call & missed the call, they rescheduled me the next day. They don't even do a 2 - 3 attempts of call to reach the customer. Not very convenient to fix your camera issues. Horrible!

The installer did not identify himself with any ID. Does this make sense as a security company? It's also on your website that they SHOULD be providing ID to me upon arrival.
Installer showed up 1 hour later than promised which caused us a major scheduling conflict.
I did not receive a walkthrough for the $1,500 worth of equipment he installed. The installer was really unenthusiastic and didn't seem like he wanted to be there. Questions were answered like it was a bother to him.
Installer left DEAD batteries in my new equipment and did not verify if my previous equipment was in working order. I also had a Ring doorbell as part of ADT that he did not fix.
When I gave a poor satisfaction rating, I got an email from a Customer Experience employee. No follow-up has been done and my emails/phone calls/texts have been ignored.

Terrible Field Tech Attitude
After years of service with ADT, my outdoor Cameras started not recording about 6 months ago and every time I called I had to make a appointment for virtual tech to call and troubleshoot, I called again on 7/12/24 and after all troubleshooting, tech told me that the cameras are outdated and I need new cameras, account manager set up a appointment for today 7/13/24 between 1-5 PM, tech by the name of Tamas arrived at about 2PM and he asked me what do I need, I said you should have it in your notes that outdoor cameras needs to be changed and right away with a argument tone he said we don’t change the cameras, the guys at the office don’t know what they are talking about, I’m here to troubleshoot only, it was shucking to hear that with that tone of voice but I said go ahead make it work, he asked me who is my internet provider and I said it is Verizon and right away he says “ Verizon is not approved Vendor for ADT, you must have Cox OR Earth Link in order for me to fix the cameras and call us when you switch to Cox”. I was speechless by his attitude and his ZERO customer service skills, for years I have Verizon and everything was fine and my indoor camera records just fine with no issues, ADT needs to get some customer oriented field techs not like Tamas, have my Vegas home account with ADT since 2016 and have my Burbank home account with ADT since 1999, will call on Monday to cancel both accounts, don’t need an attitude from someone who has no respect for customer, maybe that is how they talk to customer where he came from but not in USA
ADT is the most lying company I’ve ever…
ADT has been the most untruthful company I’ve ever dealt with, from their representatives all the way up to the manager. It began when they withdrew $598 from my account in early June. I’ve been disputing this charge for nearly two months. On 6/27, a manager instructed me to add my debit card for auto-pay to process my refund. However, when I called back a few days later, I was informed that my refund had already been processed and would be posted by 7/18/24. To my surprise, my bill on 7/12/24 still showed an outstanding balance of $644. After being transferred three times during a call, I learned that ADT had canceled my service on 7/1/24 and removed my card. When I asked who canceled the service, they couldn’t provide an answer. Now they claim a technician needs to visit my home to resolve the matter and process the refund. It feels like yet another deception. I despise when companies act as if they’re above the law, disregarding individual accounts. Needless to say, I won’t be using ADT again.

I canceled my service over a week ago and was charged almost a full month of service I did not use. I think it is ridiculous because it was supposed to be canceled. I will never use ADT they get the money but 911 does the call answering.
Bait and switch
A few days back I received a text to upgrade my unit for no cost. I made the appointment for the technician to come out and upgrade our system. Once he got here, he told me that my cost monthly would basically double from what I am paying now. This is misleading and unethical. I will never use ADT in another house. I am also sending information to the State. These types of businesses should be fined for this type of practice. The reply from ADT is typical. The moron did not read my review correctly, he's probably sitting in a foreign country replying. There was no billing issue, simply a bait and switch tactic to get me to pay a higher monthly charge. They are really screwed up.
Even a “loyal customer” isn’t worth it for ADT
After being a “loyal customer” for over 9 years (and yes, they gave me a loyalty rate), I informed them I was moving (this was May 31). First they said I had to give 30 day notice. Cancelled service and requested final bill. Was charged for monthly service (6/7), and then I received regular bill. Called to verify on 6/19… oh yes, it will be shut off on date specified from first phone call, amount charged will be refunded and we will delete automatic payment method so no more charges and will send final bill. A week AFTER the service was supposedly shut off, they withdrew another regular monthly payment AND online account was still active. At this point, I am days away from closing on the sale of the house. I call AGAIN (7/9) to be told, yes, it was supposed to be shut off on 6/30. But they didn’t. And now it will take 3-7 days to complete my request… in the meantime, new owners will be moving in and this ridiculousness ensues. I asked for confirmation in writing that it has been cancelled and was told that takes 24-48 business hours. Through out this period of time, I have been hounded by representatives (Chad from Sarasota office in particular) to have new owners take over the contract or to move my service. Conveniently, Chad isn’t available when I ask about resolving this issue for the third time. I had planned to get ADT in my new house, but after this headache, never again. And I do not recommend anyone else get them either.
ADT is terrible.
I was comparing companies and scheduled ADT for a tech visit. I noticed they charged my card $100. When I called I was told it was a deposit on the system, with the rest due on installation. I told them I had not decided yet and was told that was fine, if I decided to go with it the guy would have everything in his van. By the day of the appointment I had made up my mind, and canceled my present company. The window was noon to 4pm. At 4:25 I called to find out where the tech was. After giving 6 different people (yes, six) the info, I was told the appointment had been canceled! When I asked how soon the next appointment would be, I was transferred yet again. After ten minutes on hold I hung up. I called Simplisafe and in ten minutes had a system ordered at half the cost. ADT should have sent someone out after hours but, "they don't do that". They don't care about me, my husband, my 93 year old mother, or my pets. They only care about the money.
