Using ADT is like inviting a fox into the hen house. On a monthly basis, ADT has been charging me for two former addresses as well as my current address. They are stealing from me just as surely as if they'd broken in.
My inability to clear this up led to their shutting down my account.
My ADT cameras sat uselessly on my house while I was burglarized of a washer, dryer, leather office chair, and two laptop computers.
Getting out of this disastrous relationship after 10 years of loyalty is going to cost me $1745 to end my "contract." I feel absolutely defrauded.
When I shared these frustrations when the "collections" guy who just called me (an ADT employee, evidently), he hung up on me.
I went to NFM, bought a Ring system, hung it myself, and feel safe again in my own house.

I inquired about the integration with Google Nest Cameras as I have many of these. The agent implied that it fully integrates and that I will not longer need Nest aware. Completely wrong! All ADT does is sync with the cameras for their own purpose. I still need Nest aware.
The bigger issue is what I agreed upon. I spoke to the agent and let him know what kind of system I wanted. All seemed fine until the service agent did a walkthrough. Here is where the bait and switch occurred.
I was leaving the country for several weeks and was not available. However, my wife was fully taken advantage of and the installer sold her on close to $3000 worth of sensors and other garbage. On top of that, the install was horrible, clearly a lazy installer. She wanted the window sensors mounted on the upper part of the window, so they were well hidden. We told her she could do that and he mounted them on the bottom (what an eyesore!). He also mounded the smoke detectors right beside my current ones. He didn’t even use the existing location.
I lost my mind upon my return, to find all of this done, without my approval and what I negotiated. I called ADT and expressed my disapproval and asked for these to be removed. They told me I was out of my seven day window and I could not get a refund. They also said I was locked into their contract and I could do nothing about it unless I wanted to pay for the full services.
I am warning you about all the nightmares you hear about these security companies. ADT is the one to watch out for. Stay away from them.

HORRIBLE!!! Installer was not truthful! Customer service could careless about the fact of me being told incorrect information. Dealing with ADT was a HORRIBLE decision on my part. So now I'm in a contract with a company that I absolutely dispise!!!

You are the worst service ever! I called your damn service support line 3 times to cancel my service because I was moving. I provided military orders and all other requesting documentation and yet you still charged me $1600 termination fee even though you said it would be waived numerous times.

We were customers of ADT for 30 years. The system failed and we set up a new program with them that would keep our monitoring costs the same and upgrade the system. We agreed with the pricing and scheduled an installation. The person who came out reviewed our hardware and was upset that the system was not working. He proceeded to rewrite the contract and add hundreds of dollars for the work. We contacted ADT about the change and was assured this would be taken care of. The agent spoke with the installer and he rejected her advise. He called his manager who said he would not honor ADT's original contract. The argument continue at higher levels of managers at ADT but the installer without saying a word pick up his materials and left. ADT made many promises about rescheduling our installation at the agreed on pricing but continued to send new contracts that were much more expensive. I finally cancelled the service with ADT. The customer service rep explained it would take 30 days to cancel and we would receive our refund at that time. After 30 days we received another bill for service instead of our refund. Another round of phone calls to ADT confirmed we had cancelled the service but because of their billing software it would be another 30 days before we would receive our refund even though I had it in writing that the refund should have been received. The whole bait and switch drama of upgrading the system was bad enough without the clerical errors thrown in to make this the worst experience I have had with any company. Be very cautious about doing business with this group and get everything in writing and read the fine print carefully.

Beware of ADT Alarm Systems: My Frustrating Experience
I want to share my experience with ADT and advise against letting them install an alarm system in your home. Our ordeal began when our State Farm insurance agent informed us about a deal they had with ADT. What followed was a series of issues and frustrations with the ADT alarm system installed in our home.
High Costs and Lack of Transparency
When the ADT installer arrived, he convinced me to purchase additional equipment, which cost an extra $1300. The contract was signed via Docusign, but it lacked an itemized list of the costs, leaving me clueless about what I was actually paying for. To top it off, he left us with a Google Nest Hub that I didn't want but was told was part of the plan. Later, I discovered we were charged $125 for the Nest Hub. Despite calling ADT 12 times to have this charge removed and return the unopened Nest Hub, I was met with excuses and no resolution.
Initial Issues and Resolution
Just two days after installation, frustrated with the lack of support and transparency, I decided to cancel the ADT service. Only then did an agent offer to refund the cost of the Nest Hub. I wish I had canceled right then and there.
Recurring Technical Problems
Three months later, one of the 3-in-1 sensors (smoke, carbon monoxide, and heat) began to emit a "low battery" chirp. Despite replacing the batteries and verifying they were good, the chirping continued. After several calls, an ADT representative finally acknowledged that the unit was defective and sent a replacement.
More Issues and Inadequate Support
Last week, another 3-in-1 sensor started chirping. I went through the same process of replacing batteries, but the chirping persisted. Multiple calls to ADT led to various agents giving conflicting instructions. One agent suggested removing the batteries and resetting the system, which ultimately caused the alarm to go off and triggered a seizure in one of my dogs.
Continued Frustration
After another series of calls, I was informed that I would need to pay $160 to replace the defective unit, as the warranty was only 90 days. I refused to pay for something that failed after just five months. An agent attempted to help me remove the unit from the system, but that night, the alarm went off again, triggering another seizure in my dog.
Now, I have a non-functional alarm system and am stuck paying $35 a month for the next 2 ½ years for a service that is more of a headache than a help.
Conclusion
ADT's business model seems to involve selling defective systems that require frequent and costly replacements. My experience with their lack of transparency, poor customer support, and defective products has been nothing short of frustrating. I strongly advise considering other options before choosing ADT for your home security needs.

We had an installer call the board of health and lie telling them we had all our windows blacked out, he also trespassed in our back yard taking pictures of everything in our yard, we just tore down an old two car garage and still had debris, we have new building material on skids covered by tarps, we have 50 bags of concrete on skids & under tarps, shingles for garage and our home on skids & under tarps, a new large dog kennel on skids and under tarps, all the stuff the we store in old garage on skids in plastic bins & covered with tarps, a collection of old bikes on skids and under tarps, all our yard equipment including mowers and other power yard equipment on skids and under tarps, the ADT installer trespassed went passed our 6' privacy gate and into our back yard with a 6' privacy fence all the way around it and took photos and sent to health department all because we cancelled install? we was only getting because StateFarm was paying, we didn't go with them for home insurance. on 06/25/2024 we found out my husband has stomach cancer and two days later two cops and board of health is knocking on our door to inspect our property because they said ADT contacted them to complain and even trespassed into our back yard & took photos, we never gave him permission to come on our property, he called and we told him that we cancelled install, at that time he was still in his van, after that he pulled up the street got out of van, cut through empty lot next door and snuck into our back yard, we have it all on video with times of call and times of him trespassing through our yard and my neighbors yard, we have a lot to deal with right now and not sure how we want to pursue this, but here a company that's supposed to protect from trespassing actually does the trespassing, and all to cause hassle to us at the worst time in our families history. I am at a complete loss for why an ADT worker would do such a thing, he needs fired immediately.
In trying to update our service
In trying to update our service, we found out that we had not been provided any coverage for fourteen months. During this time we were being billed. Not only that, we had to update our key pad. We put down a deposit of $100, but after finding out about the sham billing we cancelled our appointment for the new key pad. We are informed we will "probably not" get our deposit back nor any other compensation. We feel completely scammed. Compensatation for this would be approximately $700. It is difficult to talk to anyone by phone, since they are experts at sending callers to a different departments, just putting us off. We spent hours trying to get any response and each person spoken to asked the exact same information.
Terrible Company
ADT will knock on your door, call you, text you, email you, come find you at work, approach you while you're on the way to your mailbox and they have the absolute pushiest salesman there are anywhere. It's an absolutely terrible company that needs to be shut down. I will never utilize ADT for security.
Additonally, it is worth noting, I work at a Police Officer and all ADT does is call the Police if there is an alarm inside of your house. These calls are caused by faulty equipment or accidental activation 99.9% of the time, so much so that the calls are placed on the stack as low priority calls. Unfortunately, even if your house was in that 00.1% and being broken into, by the time any Police show up the robber is lloonnnggg gone.
Trust me, save your time, save your money, save the headache. ADT isn't worth it.

I am moving and unfortunately let adt know. I am not ready for their services yet ( no internet no insurance inspection) and looking at their emails they are trying to sell me over the top service. Anyway….. they are calling me every day to pressure me into closing the deal. They are scam artists

On July 19, 2022, Kyler Bates, an Authorized ADT Provider, convinced us to showcase ADT's security system in our Tanglewood Park, NC home. We were promised a new, fully installed ADT Security System, with most of the $1,500 cost covered under a three-year contract.
Josh Holden, an ADT technician, arrived later that day and installed most of the equipment. However, he struggled with a small speaker under the dormer over the garage, which remained barely audible despite his efforts. After 45 minutes of troubleshooting, Josh gave up but did show me how to use the ADT Control and Google Home apps on my iPhone.
On July 26, 2022, we received our first monthly bill of $65.41. Over time, we faced annual price hikes with various justifications. After 23 months of unsatisfactory service, we decided to cancel our service early on June 21, 2024, as we were moving to Bacolod City, Philippines. Ariel, an ADT customer service representative, informed us of a $695 penalty for early cancellation.
Given our experience, I recommend considering alternatives before choosing ADT Security Systems. I wish I had known that SimpliSafe is rated the #1 security alarm system in the country.

Horrible customer service attitude
Horrible customer service attitude. The first 2 agents I talked to weren't too bad and actually listened, the 3rd was horrendous with an attitude from the start. I work for a retail site of a corporation, and have been the ASM at that store since it opened. We had our first alarm ever about a half hour after I left work tonight and I was contacted by ADT. I was promptly informed that I was not in their system and that the code I was giving them, my store pad code, was not a valid code. They tried to advise me they needed a verbal code which I had told them I had never ever had. I advised the first service agent that I would contact my district manager and see if there was such a thing and contact them back. She told me that when I contacted ADT back that the call would be routed to her. That never happened. After finding out from my district manager that there was no such thing as a verbal code for our corporation, I contacted ADT back and was told that they normally send law enforcement if they hadn't originally reached a contact person. The first agent never mentioned anything about law enforcement response because she was too busy trying to verify me...kind of pointless if there is a potential problem. In the interim one of our employees that lived closer to the store I had already contacted to go by, and they advised everything seemed okay. Approximately 15 minutes later I received a third call from ADT that I missed because I was trying to do my night time chores at home. When I called them back I got one of the rudest agents I have ever gotten on any customer service call. She refused to listen to any of the information that I was giving her to advise her I had already been on the phone with ADT twice and that there was no valid verbal code. She argued me to tell me that they're absolutely was and that she would look again to make sure I was not in the system, which surprise I wasn't! She then proceeded to rattle off zones that had triggered on the original alarm. When I told her that I simply wanted to know what the purpose of the last call had been because I knew the rest of the information she told me that everything was reported to be fine. And then got a snarky tone with me asking me if there were any other questions I needed answered. I'll be honest if I never deal with this company again it will be too soon. I can only imagine what residential service consumers deal with.
As a follow up: I found out today that the police did find an open business door, checked the premises and secured it back. ADT advised nothing was wrong on my last call. But maybe my lack of a "verbal code" didn't allow me that information. I'm glad there was nothing stolen. Unbelievable...

Someone was scheduled to fix my garage door— on the day that I did not schedule someone, someone came to my house and said they are on their way. Today, I have waited for them half the day to fix the door and surprise! The technician already came and was not able to reach me. This is utterly frustrating and a waste of time,
I’ve had ADT a month
I’ve had ADT a month, and already have involved the BBB due to the attitude I get on the phone from their employees. Every customer service rep I’ve spoken to has some entitlement attitude and loves to argue. When you try to hold them accountable all you get back is “stop yelling stop yelling stop yelling” you can hear the clapping in the background to enunciate the entitlement. I’ve been an instructor and commanding officer for 6 years, if I wanna yell, I know how to yell. I am using my normal voice, just holding their people accountable and they don’t like it. They’re telephone tough guys at best, stay away from this ghetto company

So after my review ADT sent me an email to ask if they could contact me about resolving my discontent with them. I provided my information thinking that I’d receive a phone call and to my surprise I received another email to tell me to basically, ( to bad, we got you and screwed you ).

Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. They charge you for a 2-3 year contract paying monthly then when the contract is up they cancel access to the camera you paid for. So many better options available.

I have been trying to cancel one account with ADT Alarm System that I have for over 6 years and every time for the past two weeks their customer service keeps transferring to another department when I repeat all the required information and then I say cancellation they talk for 15 minutes and then transfer to another department when they are supposed to do it, they ask to put me on hold and then the call drops. After two weeks every day doing the same, finally they said is cancel but it takes over a month to cancel it. They could have done it in a minute but ADT is too greedy and unprofessional to do otherwise>
ADT is the worst home security company
ADT is the worst home security company. They can't be trusted. I am a disabled veteran and do not appreciate all the lies that ADT has been telling. They said they will send their technician to install equipment. When the tech came, he was in a adt vehicle wearing adt clothing. When I had an issue a fee weeks later, I was told that I had to pay for LVD Concepts Inc to come reconnect my back camera. I later found out that the tech from LVD Concepts was the one wearing adt clothing and driving an adt vehicle. I was totally unaware that another company was in my home. Please do your research and do not trust ADT. I am very disappointed in their lack of professional & dishonesty.
As of today
As of today, I have spent over 4 hours of phone calls with ADT and 6.5 hours (Technician showed up at 12 PM and left at 6:30 PM, he did not have the proper equipment- my whole day was gone)! And two more days for the technicians to show up trying to fix the false alarms.
What have I done to deserve this? Spending many precious hours with people who have no sympathy toward their customers, paying over $200 from my checking account to rectify wireless installation, and going through an intricate and lengthy process, set by ADT of course, to get reimbursed! Please check to see how quickly they charge your account or credit card!

ADT AWEFUL EXPERIENCE
Wish there was a no stars button. Been fighting with ADT+ representatives since Memorial Day, it's now June 17th. I received my box and scanned the QR code to get started. The ADT+ app tells me my email is invalid and to use the email I purchased the product with, all while ADT is sending me order confirmations and activation emails to that email address. I call customer service who goes through all of their steps and then tell me my account is being escalated. I wait a week NOTHING. I call again and again speak to 5 different people who tell me the same thing. They tell me it's a known issue on their end and my account is being escalated. Another week goes buy and again, NOTHING. I went through the same BS again today. I'm paying for a service and product I've never even been able to set up to begin with. I'm done. I'm returning the equipment and canceled it all. I'll update on how it goes getting my money back.
Worst experience with a company ever
Worst experience with a company ever. They say they have a 6 month guarantee. That is not true. What they don't tell you is that the refund will only happen after at least 3 technicians come out to replace equipment again, which they will charge you for. The minimum to come out even if they do nothing is $173, despite telling me it was $59. My system only worked for about a month. All of my cameras only worked for a couple months. Now I am stuck paying for the equipment that seems faulty. The batteries in my front door camera only last a few days before needing to be charged again.
Someone came to make system repairs. I was unhappy when they informed me that the visit would cost $59 dollars since it seems like I shouldn't be responsible for equipment they provided not working. Rather, I was billed $327 without any prior notification. It was just taken out of my bank account by them. I called to get a refund for this. After an hour being transferred around, they said they could only refund me $150. When I attempted to cancel, they insisted that they would immediately withdraw $3K for from my account for the equipment. Especially since the equipment hasn't functioned from the beginning, I suggested that they retrieve it, but that isn't an option. I'm therefore forced to pay for a system that hasn't really functioned at all.
I thought ADT was a good company. They are horrible. I had Guardian before and I should have kept them.
