A continuation of my first comment on May 21: After reading other people's comments and ADT's replies, ADT is always "very sorry" but seldom if ever do they help. They don't do squat!!! As I said they didn't have any mercy in our situation and for that we have no respect for a company that NEVER makes any exceptions. Money, money, money is what they want!!!
Extremely rude and deceptive
My husband and i requested a quote from ADT and got a phone call from a sales rep. He spoke AT us for 20 minutes just sales pitch after pitch, bashing competitors, lying about competitors offerings (that we currently use so know he was not telling the truth on price, etc), and cutting us off ANY time we tried to speak or ask questions. At the end of the call, even after our disliking to him and his attitude towards us, we were ready to sign. Since he spoke SO long to us- we were already late to leave for work so we asked to call him back in the afternoon to finalize payment and plan. He repeatedly told us to just give him our CC number and he’ll finalize it himself and said if we hang up the phone the offer is dead. He pushed further and when we said we needed to call back after we finalize ending our current contract (after work- that we were now running late for) he said “ahhh so there’s the real reason” with an egotistic tone. We immediately hung up, and after work ended up signing with SimplySafe- who by the way offered us everything ADT did, despite this guy saying they don’t, was cheaper, and here’s the zinger- treated their customers with actual respect.
Customer support is horrible
Customer support is horrible. I was on the phone mostly on hold for forty five minutes and then got disconnected. I called back and had to start at square one again and again no help. I was on the phone for over an hour and a half and my problem was not resolved.
My garage camera goes of line any where…
My garage camera goes of line any where from 10 to 20 times a day. Its off line or unable to connect more than its on. And it’s plugged in not battery. ADT nor my internet provider can find out why. Sending back for refund. This has been going on for months and months and months. Alarm is driving me crazy. It rarely works when it’s cold, raining, or windy. Very frustrating and nerve racking. My sales rep has been the only person who took me seriously and did anything he possibly could to help me. He was freaking awesome. Customer service people not so much. I have heard every crazy story out there from customer service and repair tech’s. Only my sales representative helped.
Pathetic- irresponsible and unprofessional
I had ADT contractors sell and install ADT security systems with a control panel, door bell and three cameras for $70 a month in October 2023. For the first three months techs were called in to repair camera faults and central monitor dead and hub unserviceable for 17 times repeatedly but never could fix them. Then after 4 months the real ADT techs tried to fix and found it was wrongly installed by their contractor ADT streetsafe . They used wrong equipment. They fixed it with correct equipment but it stopped again and in real total we were without security system for 27 days and since last week it is another 8 days no service. The ADT tech who came in the last visit hard wired the camera to the spot where there was another camera from the previous company which I had paid for. He took that camera away. He spent 4 hours in trying to hook up the garage opener without any success although he was trying to get his ADT remote help. Guess what? Nothing go resolved but I had two bills of $167 and $127 on top of the monthly bill of $70. The billing dept doesn’t know and blame the contractor ADT and the ADT ignores all discussions on phone or chat 40 times with more than a hour each time. When you ask for a manager they say they don’t have customer service managers, no ph numbers and no email addresses and unable escalate the complaints. It has been on the record and on reviews 8-10 times now. 90%of reviews say the same 1 star reviews. Wish there could be a zero. I have also made viral on news and social media but the cowards are not willing to speak to me. 17 times I wasted 4 hours each time for techs to arrive taking time off from work. No politicians can help remove this company from operations in USA due to their degraded unprofessional service. If someone in ADT management has some nerves to stand up for ADT please make an effort to save your company from another class action and call me on 2536538395
OR refund my money and take your equipment and dump it somewhere not at my home. First try and learn some product knowledge of the equipment you install otherwise don’t even talk about them. I hope ADT is telling truth about calls recorded because no one can go back to reading them again.

Wasting an hour of my life canceling ADT
I've had their service off and on for years and always played the game of getting an upgrade when my contract ran out but this time I was ready to be done and move on to one of the many other options for home security. They force you to call them to cancel their service even if you are out of contract and try to work you like a timeshare sales appointment. After entering all the right buttons on their automated service to tell them I wanted to cancel I was talking to someone that tried to sell me and when I told her I wasn't interested she said she was going to have to move me to her agent because she wasn't authorized which I thought was ridiculous but what was more ridiculous was the second agent on the phone that tried to close a deal and tried to say she could not authorize a cancellation to which I told her I know this call is being recorded and I have canceled my service. She said talking over me that does not cancel your service I cannot take a cancellation I will praise you on a brief hold to which I told her you go ahead and do that and instead she hung up on me. Knowing now the tactics they will use to keep someone from just canceling a contract I will tell everyone not to use their service both business and residential. The times that we have had issues in the past they do not make it easy to fix any of their equipment but seeing their sales tactics made me despise the company and wish I had never given them a dime in the past 10 years.
*Edit* Since I can't respond to ADT's message I'll just add this for them. You're not sorry, you designed the play book for your employees to follow so that canceling is a nightmare. If you wanna help then make it easier for people in the future that want to cancel instead of sitting on the phone to waste our time. My time is valuable and can't be replaced so save your lame response.

Myadt website consistently forgets you’re even registered. Resetting a password never works nor do you even get an email from these people. Awful “security” company.
Has been horrible and now paying a tech to hopefully have a system that actually works correctly
Used system for about 16 months now. 10-15 false alarms. 1 or 2 from a smoky kitchen, but others are from non-existent smoke. Had fire trucks show up twice already due to not being able to report false alarm from house and they called my number while on the road. Tried to change out batteries and it continues. Then my cameras haven’t worked in three months. Tried resetting but it still goes offline. So, now I finally resort to get tech out, and they are going to charge me $60 for their faulty system to be checked, which never really worked from the beginning very well. Looked at other systems, but we already paid for the cameras, so there is already a lot of money in. A little trapped here. Let’s see what they are going to charge me, but for now I am basically paying them for no security system.

I am moving and wanted to cancel my service they told me that it will be a month before it could be canceled and that they're going to take one more month payment even though I didn't want them anymore I don't understand how hard is it to cancel out a service that you are no longer using anything to make a buck huh why is everybody turning into crooks nowadays

So bad. We've been customers for 22 years. I just called to negotiate a better rate ($40/month currently) and I spoke to Chris. He said we're under contract (???) And if we cancel we owe them $1500!! He said, "I'm sorry if you think that's mean, but if you like I can be a lot more mean". Who the heck talks like that?? We've never been behind on our payments but he felt like a seriously lowlife bill collector. We will be reviewing our contract and cancelling at the earliest opportunity. I'm honestly not surprised they have one star overall.
LIARS
LIARS! They coerced me into signing up for a system. The paperwork & propsal they showed me was a low monthly payment. The actual loan agreement was higher, but their sales team showed me multiple credits I was approved for and assured me my payments would never be higher. After the system was installed (which took over 4 months and included extensive damage to my property) I found out they never filed correct paperwork or finished the job in time, so both credits were delayed and therefore a higher amount WAS incurred. After a few phone calls, they finally admitted their mistake and assured me they would be covering the higher cost! After doing that for 2 months, they decided they just didn't want to anymore and told me I was on my own and anything they say in a phonecall they cant be held accountable for. They lied and lied again and took no responsibility. NEVER work with this company. They may seem like they have good customer service, but they literally lie about everything just to get the product installed and you paying more than you agreed to. Hope you have a lawyer ready if you deal with them, you'll need it.

Man, I got bounced around and repeated my efforts to six different people. It felt like I was on a game show to see how long it would take me to crack.
After One Hour and 29 Minutes, I finally got a person that could help. All I wanted to do is pay off my balance and terminate and was told that I had to call back a month later to cancel.
I said, What amount do I need to pay to get ADT out of my life and he said that I will need to call or someone will call me back next month.
I finally said, you got me on the phone... take my money while you can. Other than that I'm done.
Finally paid off my contract and cancelled service. However, this remains to be seen... we'll see what happens next month.
ADT is crazy and they like to share the crazy by putting you through so much BS.

You can do better!
I had to move from an apartment to living with parents. I called ADT to cancel and was told that I had to pay $880.52 because I cannot return the ADT alarm system which are all unwired. I told them I had to move back in with parents and yet they still said I signed a 36-month contract. They persuaded me to sign the contract for 36 months because it provided much more of a better rate than signing for one year. Never again. Simply safe and Vivint (parents have Vivint) are two others that I recommend. Do NOT use ADT. They're rip-offs! Had I viewed reviews, I would not have purchased service with these crooks. The rep said I could try and sell the system to someone and have them take over my $53.40 payments that I have to make for two more years although the system will be in my parent's garage. Just ridiculous! Yall need to go to alarm companies who will allow you to cancel if circumstances beyond your control happened. Now we have an alarm system sitting in the garage while paying over $53.00 a month for two more years! They read my review and sent me this response:
Thank you for that additional information! We have reviewed the account and do show that there is a 36-month agreement. One of the benefits of having the self install systems is that it can be relocated to a different address to prevent early termination charges. Unfortunately we wouldn't be able to waive the early termination fees.

ADT (POOR SERVICE PROVIDER)
We have been with ADT for over 5 years at this residence and 10+ more with other residences. They do NOT value customers. We have been patient and have spent well over 4 hours on the phone with them since yesterday! Our alarm panel has been going off intermittently for weeks now. I spent time with their technician fixing this virtually yesterday. It seemed we were good and "fixed" with a couple bad sensors being sent as replacements. UNTIL last night at 3 am with it doing the same thing and waking everyone up with NO faults showing. Since I couldn't sleep, I was in the phone with them at 6 am, 9 am, 12 pm and again at 2 pm!! Always being told a manager would call me back, but never bothering to! I spoke with Marissa (manager) and was told Nicole Kennedy (another manager) was going to call me back. They just ignore you! They could care less if your alarm is going off in the middle of the night EVERY night! You are not a priority! Then I was told I was being directed to the WRONG department (general service) instead of field operations. I call field operations and they tell me, I have to wait until the 31st (over a week) with alarm going off randomly during the night. Them management told them to inform me that I could shut my entire system down. Anything happens to our place, I am handing these calls over to my insurance to go after (if anything happens here) ADT for their lack of providing for our protection paid service from them. This company is a disgrace. Come to find out so many other customers are having the same issue per the last ADT agent I spoke to. What are we all actually paying for? Disgraceful. They don't deserve even 1 star as the don't care about clients as reflected in their reviews.

My father needed help getting an alarm system installed. I set up a consult with a small security company that has been in the business for years. Not the focus of this story.
My father also setup a consult with ADT despite me specifically saying “The one thing I suggest you don’t do is use ADT”.
Keep in mind that ADT doesn’t call it a consultation. They constantly refer to the appointment as the “installation”. Although there is no contract or agreement yet.
So the ADT appointment is set for a time where I might be at work and can catch the middle/end of the appointment. I tell my father “This guy might try to pressure you so do not sign anything until I can talk to him”. I even sent my brother by the house to moderate the situation until I arrived.
Eventually I arrive and walk up the path to the house. Before even entering the house the locksmith who is also doing work on the house says “Just so you know this ADT guy is trying to sell your dad on a system and he is RELENTLESS. I’ve never seen anything like this.”
I walk in the house. My father, brother, and ADT man are in the kitchen talking. I sense a little bit of tension. To clear up any confusion I start by saying “This is just a consultation, we are getting quotes from multiple companies, just so you know we wont be signing or installing anything today.”
ADT guy goes full defense mode. His go to move is “THIS PRICE I AM GIVING YOU TODAY IS A ONE TIME DEAL. TOMORROW IT WILL BE $700 MORE.”
I tell him this is fine, if that’s the case we probably won’t go with them. Still not signing before receiving multiple quotes.
This guy would not leave us alone. Some of his sales attempts included...
-“This is my livelihood, my family depends on this security business” -“ADT is the best company bc we have been in business for 135 years” -“Don’t you want to do what is right for your family? This will protect you.” -Doing everything in his power to avoid us getting a quote from another company. Pretty big red flag obviously
Eventually this guy is still not getting the point and I say “You pestering us is having the opposite effect. We’re not buying your system.”
Seems like he finally gave up. He claims he “Needs to call his manager to reimburse our $100 deposit.” (Wasn’t aware of any kind of deposit, but w/e).
The so called manager was definitely just another sales guy on the same level as the guy standing in my fathers home. “Manager” starts pressing us with the same sales tactics. I again say “We are not purchasing your system.”
This next part... I literally cannot believe. But I promise it is true.
The ADT man standing in the kitchen says to his “manager”, talking about me, “This kid just comes in looking like he just walked out of high school and thinks he knows more about security than me.”
I’m not sure if he thought that insulting me was going to get me to agree to buy what he was selling or that was the point where he had just given up.
I said “Alright well now that’s just disrespectful. Get off our property.”
His “manager” said “Okay well it sounds like you should get off the property.” Kinda sounded like he also knew his coworker just said something illegal.
THE MAN CONTINUES TO TRY TO SELL US THIS SYSTEM. I’m silently losing my mind at this point. This guy is desperate. I thought we were gonna have to call the cops.
Eventually my father just says “Idk what your doing but I’ve never seen sales tactics like this. Get off my property.”
Another few minutes and ADT man packs his ADT sign into his backpack and leaves.
Do yourself a favor. Don’t even consider calling ADT.
You MUST Know before you sign an ADT Contract!
We have had ADT since October 2022. We've had wonderful service right from the start with the excellent salesman/installer to the monthly service! I have referred two friends to them. We signed a 3 year contract, which we thought was a little long compared to other companies.
My wife has a medical necessity that we move out of state. We called yesterday to cancel our ADT and they said we'd have to keep paying the monthly fee until the contract runs out. We cannot transfer it out of state because we assumed the contract at the house we're moving to.
After talking to a supervisor they agreed to give us a 25% discount, which means we still have to pay over $700.00 to cancel our contract!!!
Completely unacceptable!!! Even this country's most popular satellite dish company reduced our monthly payment to $20.00/month to cancel.
ADT has NO mercy when it comes to people (in our case over 70 years old) needing to cancel because they must move out of state due to medical conditions!! Think before you sign the contract!!!
Don't be Scared
To all who have seen my complaint. This is pretty much what happened to most of us. I have noticed that the majority who mentioned that they have been lied to, paid way too much and so many other issues. The fact remains that we all expect a certain level of honesty from the company we are doing business with. We certainly don't expect a contract to say something completely different. No matter what the situation, there answer remains the same "Read the Contract". This alone tell you there is a problem. The answer is almost automated. I said I have proof of the lies, deception and gouging me on the price. Did you notice that she completely ignored what I said even with proof. Read the Contract is her standard response. They can no longer blame are ignorance and extort money from customers. Understand there is nothing they can do, so don't let anyone extort money because they speak of contract. Even if they were ruthless as it seems, the last thing they need is taking customers to court especially with thousands of complaints. What will happen is they will sell you to a debt collector. Collectors for instance depending on what their buying could buy 100,000. in bad accounts. They may get .10 on the dollar or more. There are just too many complaints of deception where the contract would prevail. You call and cancel followed by and email, return the equipment, then state you do not want to be notified. Eventually the dept collectors become vultures. You state the same thing with no need to explain to them. Are you people thinking when your told about the contract that you are now in trouble. As each and everyday goes by with the same problem, their the ones who are getting deeper. Look at the BBB. A+ rating and they now tell you after they were interviewed, they don't go by the complaints. Sure OK what are they saying. If the BBB of all companies don't consider there complaints, then what do they consider. With all the other business's they do! Yes, I know you can't make this crap up. Please read my original post here. The BBB is to help both parties, but have you notice no matter what the complaint the answer is 95% you lose and no interjection from the BBB, or at least this is what I see. After the news interview I believe they are probably getting stock options! lol OK Seriously there will probably be a class action suit I believe someone will be posting an email asking for information. There may be age questions because it may involve the elderly. We all know how sales people feed on the elderly. Also, problems such as this could take some time!Remember, this so called contract is a means to scare you because of their deception. If anyone felt that because they were threatened or scared into paying money, or writing a check, this is a fine line drawn in the sand. No one can force you to pay money. In the long run, there's a system that needs to be followed and when 100's more than likely thousands are involved, it very seldom goes any further. Forgive me for not making corrections, just not enough time in the day!
ADT sucks
ADT sucks! I have been an ADT customer for the last 30 plus years and if it wasn’t so expensive I would have to switch out all my cameras, motion detectors, & door sensors years ago! It takes forever for camera to load then you have to wait when you switch cameras… the technician told use our WiFi was the cause so I upgraded to 1GB WiFi and the connectivity still sucks! That tells me the service guys don’t know what they are talking about ( just given direction from corporate)! No ever go with ADT! Our daughter just build a house and she has Simplx / Ring… for what it’s worth, I would go with Ring if I had it to do all over again! Of course, Ring wasn’t around in 2001 when we built our current house! F ADT

Don’t waste your time and money on this!! I got it thinking it would work because I’m not a technical person and it was the worst thing over priced I had to call them every little bit and would get frustrated and hang up ! They blame my internet connection, internet would blame them kept having break-ins and would call and complain but to no avail

I haven't had my Alarm system 6 months and have had to call more than 4 times and have had 3 visits to my home to fits a problem. It so frustrating to be paying on something that half of the time it's not working properly.

The absolute WORST company in the Universe! Caveat Emptor! (Let The Buyer Beware!)
I'm 74 years old, and have dealt with countless companies over many decades. Most have been good experiences, but many have been horrible. About 30 years ago I started a list of "The Top 10 Worst, Most-Hated Companies in the Universe", based on the David Letterman "Top Ten List".
The ill-fated "Sears & Rubbish" held the #1 position until it's demise. Since then, various companies have had the dubious distinction of being #1 on My list.
Recently, ADT rocketed to #1 and undoubtedly will remain there for a VERY long time. It's proven to be the absolute WORST company I've EVER had the misfortune of dealing with!
On April 30th I decided to cancel My service. Friends who have dealt with ADT in the past wished Me a "lot of luck", warning Me that I was about to experience a bona fide nightmare. Sadly, they were correct.
I called & spoke with some ADT "Rep" & told Him I wanted to cancel My service. I was immediately subjected to a barrage of ultra-high pressure tactics designed to convince Me to stay with ADT. After several minutes of back-and-forth debate He finally realized that I had made My decision & wasn't about to change it. He then became rude, confrontational, & downright NASTY. I told Him that I had "auto pay", where the monthly fee was automatically deducted from My checking account & I wanted assurance that no further payments would be taken from My account. He promised Me that because My service was now "officially" terminated I was "all set" & there was no need to contact My bank...no more money would be deducted from My checking account.
The very next week I received a bill in the mail saying I owed ADT $56.01. I immediately called and (tried) to speak with a "Rep". She told Me to ignore the bill because My service had been terminated on April 30th.
Then, on May 13th I discovered that ADT had indeed deducted $56.01 from My checking account, contrary to what the 1st "Rep" promised Me.
Now the nightmare REALLY started! I lost track of how many times I called ADT & how many "Reps" i spoke with about this. Not one single person could speak fluent English, each one had a well-rehearsed "speech" saying they couldn't do anything for Me, I finally started demanding that I speak with a Supervisor. They'd put Me on "hold" for 30-60 minutes while they supposedly "looked" for one. Of course, each time I'd get a reply "I can't find one", or "He's in a meeting", etc., etc. They were rude, incompetent, confrontational, & essentially USELESS. I finally got to speak with a "Supervisor" & He was as useless as the Reps! Despite My being an 8-year loyal customer they wouldn't budge. Everyone kept on throwing the "contract speech" in My face, saying that ADT required a 30-day advance notice & therefore I was being charged a month's service even though the service had been terminated!
So HEED MY WARNING!!!! AVOID this sham company where everyone blatantly LIES & their primary goal is to grab Your $$ in any way They can!
I've since filed an official complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General's Office of Consumer Affairs in Florida. ADT will be losing FAR MORE than just Me as a customer, as My new crusade is to bad-mouth this awful company until I take My last dying breath. They're arrogant & could care less. Quite the way to treat (mistreat) a longtime (9 years) customer! BAD news travels much faster & further than good news. This bogus outfit will meet the same fate as the doomed Sears & Rubbish company.
Same old Story
As most have written we were told one thing and was a different story as usual. I told a sales person what was needed and he gave me a price. When an installer from another company came the first thing I needed to do was sign a contract that I couldn't read on my I Phone so I managed to get it on my Ipad. No one really reads these contracts because we take for granted no one is going to lie right to our faces. This is what they depend on as you see their answer is read your contract. Their name is what they depend on and if you look around especially with the BBB, ADT is totally a money making business derived from extortion. After a news station a few years back said how could you give these people an A+ rating not to mention another company Defenders who were involved with them, they had no answer. Go to the BBB now and defenders is listed with no complaints at all. It also says the rating for Defenders reflects the BBB's opinion about organizations interactions with its customers, including interactions with local locations. After the interview Defenders seems to have disappeared. Now look at the ratings for ADT, they still rate them A+ and now say for them: Customer reviews are not used in the calculation of BBB Ratings. Are you kidding me, talk about making asses out of the American people. How is it rated, by the amount of money put in their bank account. After I signed I find out that for an extra door or window sensor that cost about $10.00 wholesale and cost only $15.00 from Simply safe would have cost me $150. ea from these crooks. Hundreds of dollars for a smoke detector, hundreds for motion detectors and on it went. Items that were only $29. to $39. with others. Then this man proceeds to tell me that an extra camera was $300. I find out later that not only was I paying double what I was quoted and extremely over charged on items that were extra, they also screwed me on the camera system. I asked when monitoring the cameras and the alarm is tripped, do you look and see if an actual robbery is in progress like SimplSafe does. He tells me that they don't monitor any cameras. So now here I am paying three times the cost for a camera that they plugged into my wall outlet and hung it on the wall. Now I realize they charge me not only three times the cost but $35. a month for cameras on top of another $30. You think that they would tell you about doing it yourself thru Google Nest. Pay $99 to $139. for the camera and almost nothing for the subscription. And yes the installer told me I had 30 days to cancel and I already knew I had three days to cancel also. They know exactly when they come to the house and have you sign a contract, that everyone takes their word for it. This is why I always record all conversations. People don't know that they can have a simple app that records even when the screen shows nothing. As I started to realize how much I was getting screwed, I started to read complaints. All the answers were all based on "Read the Contract". I read it later and called to cancel. I signed the contract, and the installer/ bull artist worked a half day. He said he wasn't going to work on Saturday or Sunday and took Monday off. Even though the first thing he had me do was sign a contract for work that wasn't completed till many days later, I managed to send him a message to cancel the dam contract. I had no idea who to call not that it mattered, it was late at night. Someone said he was going to be pissed and just forget about it. You still have 30 days. I managed to finally get to the person less than 30 days after the job was done not that this makes any difference to them. I get, this is Amanda on a recorded line. Of course the usual bull about read the contract. I said, what did I manage to happen to spot on my IPad as this installer waited for me to sign. It was something about being able to cancel after 30 days. I was looking for it as she waited then I saw it. Oh she said that's 30 days after your renewal. What, that's not what I was thinking. She said well they all get this wrong. Really their you are on my recorded line saying exactly what I'm saying. These people need to have a class action suit and as one can see by the 10's of thousands of complaints have no shot in hell. From my neighbors here and there they had no clue what they were paying for or that the ones with cameras were not monitored. I paid 1,700. for my equipment and also paid for installation and got nothing. I can't bring certain items to my new home because I lack half the equipment needed to insure properly.
