I bought my system February 24th 2024 received absolutely zero assistance in getting a police permit today is March 3rd I still haven't been able to get a police permit and I'm very upset
I bought my alarm system February 24th 2024 they came to my house I told them I had issues getting my permit to get police response the installer left me a number today is March 2nd 2024 . I still have not been able to get permits for my alarm system which after 15 days I get a $75 fine if I can't get hooked up to the police , everyone at ADT has either misled me to dead end phone numbers or gave me no help at all I am very disappointed with this company I'm very disappointed with the customer service and I wish I could have my money back cuz I would go somewhere else .

ADT absolutely SUCKS! Pick any other company for your security needs but them!!
First they told me motion sensors would work; I have cats and was afraid the cats would set them off. The salesman told me that only a big dog or a human would set them off. Lie. Cats "jump" onto things and that (vertical move) will set off a motion sensor. So I spent money on something that does not work for me.
So now I have a system and a sensor fell off our sliding glass door. Their solution: for me to get some regular old tape and tape it back up. For all the money we spend, THEY should fix the problem! That sensor no longer works and we bypass that door all the time without arming it... That's ridiculous!
Now my motion sensor just went off. I'm out of town, so I disarmed it remotely. I don't know if my son set my alarm improperly (perhaps he did and the cat jumped up and set it off...) or if someone is now lurking around in my house. So I just got off a call with ADT. They cannot help me to check how my house was armed, I will have to log online and check it myself (meanwhile the clock is ticking and I don't know what's happening at my house and I pay a lot of money to have someone taking care of my account... and this guy doesn't even have the means to tell me what is going on with my system). What the heck am I paying for??? I cannot wait to cancel my contract!!! We formerly had John's Brothers and I never had any issues with them. ADT a-thousand-percent SUCKS!!! Run, don't walk, to any other company!
Trying to Cancel Nightmare
I have called to cancel my service. They gave me the run around and tried offering me different services. Finally got them to listen that I want to cancel. I was told it was canceled and that they bill 30 days out so I would not be getting another bill. I just got another bill. I called and they said the customer service rep misinformed me and my billing ends the end of March. I canceled Feb 21. Now I am getting calls everyday asking me why I canceled and if I would like to continue with a discounted rate. I keep saying NO but they keep calling! No one here listens when you want to cancel. I don't have a contract and I don't want services any longer!
ADT NIGHTMARE!
After having the sales person aggressively continue to pressure me to sign with them, i now sorry i ever did. After signing before Thanksgiving, 2023, i went out of town only to find the system was dead. No power! I called for service since you only have 90 days of warranty. Big red flag! I got service and the guy said everything was installed incorrectly. He had to move everything and there would be no charge. As soon as he left they charged my credit card for 229.50 for the service. I disputed my charge. This was at the end of 2023 and as of 2/29/24, they are still trying to have me pay the 229.50. I have called several times over 2 months and everytime they apologize and say it will be taken care of. They are the most corrupt company i have i have ever dealt with. Also after my father passed we canceled the alarm for 10/23/23 as the new owners signed up with them. Adt continued to charge us for November and December. They double charged the new owners and us. They refused to give us our money back. Again CORRUPT!!! There is better honest companies out there and ADT is not one of them.

December 12th I signed contract and had system installed. With the promise of him coming back when I had internet to install my camera and ring doorbell. Before he left, a sensor fell off and he put it back on. December 22 I called because I got the internet. December 27 I called again told service man was out due to family emergency. 1/2 called service man again. 1/11 called service man and he came out but only installed ring door bell, he said no camera was included even though it was discussed before and video is included in contract. 1//11 called service man no response because sensor had fallen off again. 1/12 called contractor office with no answer 1/14 called contractor office with no answer 1/16 again called contractor office no answer 1/16 called ADT on phone for 28 minutes. 1/17 finally got call back from contractor and service man came out we discussed how the sensors need to be placed differently he refused. 2/10 5 sensors fell off one broke called contractor no answer this was a saturday so I waited until monday, 2/12 and called serviceman and left message, then texted where he told me he was in meetings and would call back. 2/13 texted again to which he replied that he was in meetings and I should call ADT to get help. I called ADT and was told they couldn't help me I had to go through the contractor and argued with me over calling them when I told them that the contractor doesn't answer the phone. Just kept telling me that is who I had to call. Finally got a call from ADT supervisor who promised to get me a phone call, it never came. 2/14 another sensor fell off 2/16 called contracter, texted serviceman no answer from either 2/27 called ADT again still promises with no help. I have an alarm system that is unusable and no help coming. Now this month, the ring doorbell company wants me to pay for it's use, which was not discussed at all, I was told it was included. Since this was posted, I was contacted by ADT. They did get the company to call me. It took over a week to get someone out to my house. I wanted the system to be removed, since the contract was definitely broken by them at this point. He refused to remove it and said I would have to pay them a fine for getting it removed and I would be getting a bill. The man who came was very rude to me, so much so that my son and his wife who were in another part of the house came out to tell him to talk to me respectfully. Instead of a bill, they once again took my money for the month out of the credit card I had asked to not be used. I should not have to pay for a product that doesn't work, nor should I have to pay a fine to have it removed. Even more disappointed in ADT than before.

I would give zero stars if I could. We still don't have our services cancelled. Have been trying since last August. Again 2 days ago they came out to our corporate office to install something and didn't even bring what they needed to install. They decided they could not the job after spending about 3 hours here looking around. I want to cancel them complete. I will just as soon as possible. O and their response they give everyone is a complete lie. They don't care about their customers. Their support is nonexistent!
Extortion, lies, and delaying tactics
We were told by a sales representative that we were
transferring what we had at our old house to a new house. We had hardwired CCTV cameras at our front and back doors. He sent out a technician, who installed two doorbell cameras. I asked about the CCTV cameras, and he told me it's a different part but that he'd put in an order and follow up. His case notes say that I'd call in later to order, which is not my recollection. He didn't explain the doorbells were
battery-operated, and he didn't leave behind the equipment needed to remove and charge the cameras.
Several days later, when the batteries were dying and we hadn't heard back about the CCTV, Laura tried emailing the original sales representative but never heard back, and we called to get a second technician. The technician explained our installation, explained that the batteries would need to be charged, and gave us the tool to remove them, and explained that there was no CCTV camera and that only sales reps can add those. We sent another message and continued to be ignored, then called a local sales manager as a backup. He told us a price for CCTV 4x the competition and said we'd have to call a cancelation line if we didn't like it.
We did, and the cancelation line told us a local manager would have to talk to us first. The local manager ignored our story because just the fact that we didn't call with "no questions asked" asking to cancel by Feb 2, three days from signing, we didn't qualify. Therefore they wouldn't pick up any equipment and would charge us over $4,000 (no rationale given) and leave all of the equipment in place if we insisted on breaking the contract. None of the other facts of the case, including the time spent trying to resolve the issue first, was relevant. He
also said he'd take it seriously if a sales MANAGER didn't email us back when emailed, but if "some call center rep" didn't then it wasn't relevant. No middle ground to solve the problem was offered. His name was Miguel, employee ID 1192647.
I have emailed always there at adt.com and the responder doubled down on everything. I'm pursuing a compliant with both the Maryland consumer protection agency and the BBB

ADT Incompetence
We recently switched our security to ADT on a commercial building with 2 stores and 3 apartments. What a nightmare! After initially installing one systems to cover the entire building, we had malfunctions for 3 months. We then expanded to 2 systems but the smokes and co2's always have low batteries in addition to sounding off for no reason. Impossible to get an ADT tech out as they insist on using the installer, but the installer is usually too busy and when he does come out more problem's manifest. I would never use ADT again but we have paid them over 3k to install the 2 systems. They are truly incompetent and don't know know how they get new business.

OMG crazy mess they have here I'm trying to cancel a transaction and get a refund and they keep transferring me, no one knows what they're doing oh and by the way I was hang up on by a rude rep because I wanted to cancel.
The worst security company to have
The worst security company to have. I’m never gonna to hire this company ever again for my future homes and will never recommend them to anyone. I had them for 2 years and wasn’t even protected because my local police didn’t cover adt which I didn’t know until after the installation. Couldn’t cancel it because I was in a 2 year contract and even after the contract was ending and they asked if I want to renew and I said no I still get charged for 3 months… this is the biggest scam company ever. Oh and top of that the cameras didn’t work more than half the time. Worst company ever! Never getting my business again.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Said they cancelled my service but never did. I even spoke with a manager. On the phone with a gentleman now and he just talks over me and doesn’t let me speak. Service overall is crap and they don’t give you all the information.

I am very disappointed in ADT customer service. I am a disabled senior citizen and my wife is handicapped. We had an issue on 12/27/2023. The smoke and heat detector started to ring and showed a low batter in zones 6 and 7. I called customer service, who told me to change the battery. She also told me the type of battery I would need. I explained that neither my wife or myself could climb a ladder. She expressed her lack of concern and told me to find someone to do it for us. I hung up. Called back and spoke to a nicer person who said if I could get the batteries, I could do a customer service call. I purchased the required batteries and again called for a service call. They scheduled the service call for 8am on Friday the 29th of December. Meanwhile the alarm sensor beeped all of this time. When the service man arrived, he said that it was not the batteries, but a possible defect in the sensor. He also stated that the zone 6 sensor and zone 7sensor were in the wrong locations. He asked if ADT installed this system or did a subcontractor do the work. He seemed surprised that an ADT installer did the job. He replaced zone 6 with a new sensor. Then he relocated both sensors to there proper locations. I knew there would be a charge but the customer service rep told me that they would add it to my next statement. NOT TRUE. The installer said that was not the company policy. Again customer service was wrong. I paid the required $63.13. I then heard that other disabled customers were not charged for battery changes, and that it was up to the service person. I am very disappointed with the attitude and incorrect information from your service center. I am also very disappointed with the fact that you charge disabled senior citizens due to a defective piece of equipment that was also in the wrong place by your installers.
Do not get ADT!!
I have been with ADT for over 20 years and sold my home last year. I called as instructed and they representative did not put it in the system so when I moved, they billed me for another month. I called them and they said it would take 30 days to be effective, so I got billed for another month. Every time I called to get this rectified and had to say the same story over and over. I was under a new contract, so I had to pay the difference which I was fine with, but the amount kept increasing. A supervisor told me once you pay this $30 amount will be removed and it wasn't, they sent it to collections! I paid it because no one would get me to the right person at ADT and kept looping me in the phone system. I have excellent credit and was not going to let $30 ruin it. I guess ADT needed it more than I did. Do not use ADT, they are money hungry and give poor customer service when you don't transfer your service with them. The representatives do not know their jobs, and everyone is telling you something different. Poor service overall!! Do your alarm system on your own, it works out better.

Awful Customer service. I sat on the phone for an hour trying to get someone live (not live chat). All I wanted was a Flood Sensor certificate! I just received this service and truly want to cancel!!! I should have come to TrustPilot first.

I would give ZERO stars if I could. I have tried for 3 years to get a real person that can help with the false alarm calls I keep getting. The system ALWAYS sets alarms at my business when it rains. I have called over and over about making sure I get called BEFORE police are dispatched. I have paid over $2500 in false alarm charges in 2023 to the local police department. I have asked ADT to prove with the supposed Recorded Calls that I have asked for police dispatch to no avail. It has already started for the New Year with false alarm calls with Police being dispatched and I have NOT received any call.

I would give zero stars if I could. I had a salesperson come over and I signed a contract. The installer was new and didn't have the right equipment. They didn't show up for the second installation appointment. I called the initial sales rep who had left the company and then the area sales manager who didn't return my call. I've been on hold with corporate to cancel the agreement for over an hour. The customer service is HORRIBLE!
Bait and switch
I spent a lot of time on the phone with a representative about getting a new home security system. She quoted me a price. I asked her to send the details in an email. When she sent them to me, I saw that 3 components I asked for were not in the quote. I called back to inquire about the missing components. They were listed under “notes “ to the service tech for tomorrow’s appointment. They were never put into the quote! When I asked what the new quote would be, the price doubled. They apparently were trying to do a bait and switch with me. I’ve heard this about ADT before. I’d stay away from them!
Very little technology here
Save yourself the money and find a company that has joined the 21st century. I have literally spent an entire day off doing virtual technical assistance calls to get my front and rear cameras, that were installed by ADT, to work again. One would think that when the home ADT is monitoring switches a WiFi password that a company that depends on technology would have an easily accessible means to change the password enabled within their own
system. But that is not the case here. Three different virtual techs could not figure out how to do it, nor is there any way to do it within the App they had me install on my phone. Yet, it will cost a service fee to have a real technician to come to my home, which will remain unmonitored until that happens. 👎🏾
ADT sold me a self installation system…
ADT sold me a self installation system that would never hook up I spent hours on the phone with them day after day trying to get the system to hook up without success. ADT said the smart hub was bad & they would replace it but they never did. ADT held money off of my credit card for monitor service for a system that was never installed I had to get a new credit card to stop them because calling them did absolutely no good. Now I’m getting threading emails calls & letters about turning me over to a collection agency for non payment for an unprovided service No matter how many times you call them to try to resolve the situation you are never provided with a solution You also have to explain the problem to several agents before they put you on hold for 30 minutes to get you to the right department. After explaining over & over to several agents they still demand money for a service that they never provided without cancellation. I’m glad I’m not using their service after all because they way they do business I would hate to know that my safety is in their hands

BE WARE!!! DO NOT GET ADT! I have recently canceled my ADT services after being a customer for 12 YEARS as I was paying $740.28 per year JUST for the service (I paid for my equipment in FULL upfront). I canceled my ADT services on February 2, 2024 and had a RING Alarm system installed (same service for $200 per year). I received a bill from ADT after cancellation for $49.35 for a service period of March 4 - 15, 2024. I called ADT to ask why I am being charged for services that have been CANCELED on Feb 2nd, and I was told that ADT charges their CUSTOMERS for an ADDITIONAL 30 days AFTER cancellation and I am required to pay for the charges even after the service has been CANCELED. I was told this is part of their "terms and conditions." Something is HORRIBLY wrong with a company that charges customers (even customers of 12 YEARS) for an ADDITIONAL 30 days of services AFTER CANCELLATION and they make sure to put it in the fine print as if that is okay. If you have the option to get a DIFFERENT security system, DO IT IMMEDIATELY.
Awful customer service
I've had four separate phone calls, each lasting about an hour to resolve my monthly monitoring price issue. Each time, I'm passed on to 3-4 reps and I'm constantly having to explain myself from the beginning. The problem is that they cancelled my service when in fact it should not have been. Following up with subsequent reps say that they were going to honor the agreed upon rate and reinstate, but the next rep I'd spoken with did not honor that. My problem is that they have poor, or non-existent tracking of customer service phone calls - the next person you speak with either has no access to case notes or simply disagrees with the prior customer service reps transaction with the customer. It seems like each account management team person can act independently.
