Wont give you access code even though you own the device and its in your own home. Im well past 3 years on a month to month contract. If sensor goes bad you have to pay a fee for an ADT installer to fix it or attach it to your own system . ITs a rip off . spend a little more on the up front and go with Ring . its cheaper in the long run and you can update as you need it .
Defective Sensors
I have ADT in my business. I had it for y other location for 3 years and didn't have any malfunctions.
But this new location has many sensors I already paid for when getting them installed and one is eating up the batteries. I called and chatted. My last call is over an hour. They are trying to pay for the service to replace the sensor. A defective sensor has to be replaced by the seller of the defective item. They are not helpful. Just trying to wear me down and get me to say yes to charges. I do not and will not accept any charges.

Disappointed with ADT
I must stress my disgust at ADT and the service levels are appalling - they had installed a flex Alarm in our house which we had to pay for in March 2023. Well since then we have had the alarm buzz every single night as the communication appears to drop (this means there is no internet connection available), this seems to happen every single day after 10 pm until 2/3 am in the morning, for the last 3 months my household has not had a full night’s sleep due to ADT, this has caused unnecessary stress and it is now started affecting our health because of the lack of sleep. To put an end to the buzzing every night, we must call ADT to ask them to provide us with a code so we can put the Alarm in Engineer Mode this means your alarm will work but if someone breaks in there are no notifications sent to you, but your alarm will sound, personally pathetic. What is the use of paying for a service when there is no security provided by your Alarm company?
Each time the system has been put into Engineer mode an engineer should come to resolve the matter. Well, that is not the case, you must call ADT because they are incapable of following a problem through for any of their clients so you must call customer services for an update which could be about 10 times a day as they are unable to follow simple instructions.
So, on 26 June, the same problem occurred from 10 pm to 2 am in the end we had to request ADT to put the alarm into Engineer Mode and waited for the ADT Technical team to call in the morning as they put my problem on a priority basis. 10 am in the morning no call so I called them the young lady advise we were on a priority so she did not understand why nobody had called me back, so she resent the same requirement with an urgent priority request and I gave clear instructions to call my mobile not the house phone or my husband as he is out of the country and I give them my mobile. so now I wait. At 2 pm I texted my husband to see if he had heard about ADT and he advised that he had a miss call from them but with him being out of the country on business he was in a meeting and unable to take the call, so I call ADT customer service and asked for an update. to my surprise, they again put in an urgent priority request to the technical team to call me back on my mobile (simple instructions let’s see if this team will follow them). I wait and at 430pm as I know the offices close at 5 pm I called ADT again for an update then I was finally advised that we have an engineer booked for 7 pm tonight. so, I go home thinking wonderful my alarm will be fitted tonight. But no that's not the situation ADT struck again, they are sending a Night Technician that is not able to do anything to resolve the matter but to remove all connections so my Alarm box will be a stand-alone unit, so there is a break-in there will be no notifications or any alerts. the question arises why I keep paying ADT for a service they are clearly unable to provide or able to control.
Warning to all ADT customers DO NOT I BEG to GO WIRELESS (ALARM WORKS WITHOUT A PHONE LINE) BECAUSE ADT ARE TAKING MONEY OF YOU FOR A SERVICE, THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER AND YOU WILL HAVE TONNES OF SLEEPLESS NIGHTS AND CAUSE YOU UNNECESSARY STRESS WHICH WE ALL DONE NEED.
I always thought a reputable company like ADT would be on the ball with technology and innovation but with the issues I am having and what I have read on Trust Pilots this is not true. ADT has completely failed in providing a service that they say they are number 1 in but that’s a load of rubbish.
I have been with ADT for over 20 years but now I am looking at getting rid of ADT and going with another company that can provide the service I need with understanding staff that can follow simple instructions.
Poor customer service!
I called in on 5/11/2023 to cancel service due to moving. I was told I had to give 30 days notice so effective 6/10/2023 my account would be cancelled. I received a bill for service 6/17/2023-7/16/2023 and pmt for this period was deducted from my account on 6/20/2023. When i contacted customer service, i was told my account was not cancelled effective 6/10. but they could see that on 5/11 I called in to cancel. I was told they backdated the cancellation effective 6/10 and I would receive refund for the charges they just took out of my account. As of today 6/27/2023 still no refund. I was told a check would be mailed in 25 days. I said I wanted the refund direct deposited back into the account they took funds from. I was told they funds would be back via direct deposit, only to find out today a check was being processed and being mailed to address I no long live at.. Now I have to wait an additional 15 days for refund into my account. Customer service is horrible at this company! No one can do their job right and the customer has to pay for the incompetence of the employees. Do yourselves a favor and go with another company.
ADT customer service is a joke
ADT customer service is a joke. The majority of the “trained” technicians you deal with over the virtual call just read off of screen. They don’t understand the system and can’t provide real life problem solving. You ask them less than technical questions and they ask you to hold for minutes just to arrive to an answer that doesn’t help the problem. I’ve had multiple issues with my doorbell camera even proving to them the camera was bad, but they want to send a technician over and charge me for them to tell me I need a new camera, which I already know. My new and replaced doorbell chime box and doorbell transformer currently over heat and buzz due to the bad doorbell camera and camera mount. You remove the doorbell camera and the problems go away and the chime box and transformer work as they should. The is just one of many issues over the last 2 years. I called last week to set up an in person technician the following Monday (today) between 6-630. I heard nothing at 645 so I call them and they said they were behind and it was going to be another virtual call which is a worthless waste of my time. They said someone will call you tonight, but they give you no estimate of time. They keep terrible records of previous phone calls and the person that answers the phone never understands what has gone on prior to them talking to you by simply looking at the records. Now my wife or I have to be at home and not at work making money to support our family because you give a 4 hour time period of when you will arrive. I work in the service industry and if I did this to a client of mine, they would instantly fire me as I’d be wasting their precious time. I work off of a model that the customer is top priority and clear defined communication and timelines are the key to success. Your customer service is garbage and I’ve wasted so many hours over the past 3 years on the phone with this company. Good old fashion quality service is long gone at ADT and their staff proves it.

Throughout the entire process, I encountered multiple roadblocks and wasted an enormous amount of time and effort trying to get the cancellation sorted out. As a result of this terrible experience, I cannot recommend ADT to anyone. A company's customer service is a crucial aspect of its reputation, and ADT, with Bryan Vargas as an example, has severely tarnished theirs. Their lack of professionalism, rudeness, and the deliberate difficulty in canceling a subscription have left me feeling utterly dissatisfied.
In conclusion, my encounter with ADT's customer service, particularly Bryan Vargas, has been nothing short of a nightmare. I strongly advise potential customers to think twice before considering ADT as their security provider, as their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Appalling Service - Avoid ADT
Appalling. I have been with them for years with a routine inspection contract. The control panel went off spontaneously in the middle of the night over a week ago and despite numerous calls, and being told conflicting things, an engineer did not attend until the noise had been going on for more than 30 hours. I have no issue with the engineer who has been attending the property for over 20 years. As this was an out of contract call. I was charged which I was aware would happen but the fee was extortionate to say the least little short of £200 for a visit that lasted 16 mins according to the invoice and £50 more than the annual contract fee. I have cancelled the contract.

I am a current customer and would not refer anyone to this company. Their cameras continue to fail and if you need service, you will have to pay for their failed service and equipment. Their contracted customer service CONTINUALLY gave me the run-around, even sending me to Spanish speaking tech, just because my last name is hispanic. I hope to steer any potential customers AWAY from ADT and there are many other directions to go, with better equipment, less expensive and MUCH better customer service.

I’ve had ADT for years. I’ve moved several times and transferred service. Moved in Feb 23 and not only did they charge me double for installation fees but also have been charging me monitoring on the past house WHICH we don’t own and has no equipment left there! Salesman did nothing but lie when he was here! The tech that installed the latest camera, installed it around a mobile shelving unit!! REALLY??
I’ve spent numerous hours on the phone, they had my credit card, big mistake, at one point there was 3,000 on it. I had them blocked from charging my card. On many occasions in the past 4 months I was told it was taken care of to find out it wasn’t. Guess these reps are getting paid and NOT DOING THEIR JOB!

This is the absolute worst investment I have ever made. My husband and I have spent a great deal of money for an alarm system that DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY! For years, we have complained to no avail. The agent I last spoke with told me our issues are not even documented in their system!I have had it! Lame promises, mailed batteries and lies of getting a free upgraded system.
Overpriced and overcharged when you cancel
Had been with ADT since they took over Protection1 for over 15 years for a commercial account. Since ADT took over they increased the fees every 3 months.
Finally had enough and canceled, well TRIED to cancel... it took 3 emails and 3 phone calls.
A month later they sent me a "final" bill for 5 days of service that was $70...when I called to inquire what the charge was, they had no explanation other than "that's the charge" and threatening that "we could've charged you more".

Changed wifi pw
I changed my Wi-fi password & what did I do that for??? I had to delete & add ALL of my devices back in the Google Nest app & take ALL of my cameras down to manually plug them up inside the house! That was all of more than frustrating. We had to call ADT a few times w/barely any help. Google videos helped us more accurately than ADT did!!! I hate these Google nest cameras! On top of that, 2 weeks ago I noticed that ADT changed the video history where you can only get 3-hours worth instead of a 60 or 90 day history that I'm paying for!!!! They want you to pay more money to get more than a 3 hr history view of your footage! I still can't get the doorbell camera to mount properly! What a %$@#ing ripoff! I'm so disappointed in ADT!!! They are about to lose a faithful customer!

Reply to ADT: the simplest instructions cannot be followed. We do not want to receive mail or ads. Contact chat support 3 times and they end the chat each time it is asked. When I called 7 times each person asked me for a phone number to which I explained I do not have an account I wish to be removed from mailing list per regulation. They said just unsubscribe from the emails and would hang up. I called back, many times get the same answer until I ask for the law department. I will continue this path until you decide to get it together and remove all mailings and quit forcing your company on people. I will be in contact with lawyers on Monday since your team refuses to remove from listings.
My god what isn’t wrong with it.. the chat ends the chat when they don’t want to do something. They use robotic prompts because they have no clue how to actually talk to people. Their phone customer service absolutely cannot understand the simplest of instructions or requests. What a god awful company to work with and it was literally the simplest request. Either train your employees to actually understand what is being requested or be an adult and fire them.
Intimidation Used to Prevent Cancellation
My 81 Year old mother called in to ADT to cancel the service she has been using for the past 10 years. They would not allow her to cancel and would not allow her to talk to a supervisor. Now I am calling. The first time... after hitting about 10 prompts to get to the cancellation department I was disconnected. I am now calling for a second time and have been on hold for a half hour. So there are so many people calling to cancel at 8:30 on a Wednesday night it requires a 45 minute hold. So since I am going to be on hold I figured I should use this time wisely to write a review about their terrible customer service. My mother doesn't even use the service... she just likes it when it tells her the door is opening. $50.00/month for that??? They also will not upgraded her 10 year old equipment, and when the 10 year old equipment fails they want to charge for a visit. Well as I continue to hold... I guess I will cut and past this review to other websites. I better not get disconnected after holding all this time... and let them try to intimidate me... Cause you got the right one Baby!!!

6 months and still trying to resolve issue with cancelation.
Was told I have a 5 year contract and need to pay a hefty cancelation fee. The only contract I signed was 6 years ago for one year.
Thought I finally resolved last week. They agreed they do not have a contract and would refund me 156.62.
Bill in mail for 143.63 today for early cancelation. Two hours on phone with different stories. Finally got to a Manager who said they would not honor what was promied to me last week, then he hung up on me.

Beware if you loose WI-FI
ADT talks a good game as on the surface it appears it checks all the boxes we were looking for.
The biggest problem is if/when your home looses power and WI-FI is no longer available, EVERY device that uses WI-FI will automatically reconnect when the power is restored EXCEPT the ADT system. According to ADT the ONLY way to reconnect is to do a reboot from the panel. But what if you’re not home? The mobile app which offers very basic features is also NOT capable of performing a remote boot.
The system really does not stand up to expectations and we are looking for a replacement. Guess we will just eat the $600 installation charges.

We've had nothing but issues with our system. It takes at least four hours by phone to resolve issues. Everytime there was an issue with a power outage or cable issue the system would go crazy. If the issue couldn't be resolved by phone, a technician would come out for a fee. We've been a customer sense 2017, but recently decided to go with another company. I called and I was told it would cost me over $1,000 to end the contact. WOW!!! So, beware of any changes to your system because ADT will start your contract over from the beginning. It's just a scam to get more money from a company that has a 1.8 customer service rating.
