The ADT scam their contract
Recently in the middle of selling my home and they told me, there’s a 1500 cancellation fee because I’m not forwarding my services. I will not ever use and recommend that you don’t use their services.

Wishing I had researched companies before choosing ADT.
I’m currently locked into a 3 yr contract unfortunately. I have had nothing but trouble out of adt since day one, first off no one told me that they did not accept Discover as payment, so for 8 months they never got paid that reflected on me, I changed banks now use a Visa card and they still can’t receive payment on time, money is in the account they for some reason can’t get the payments. Except the 34.00 payment they get that payment. Then I kept getting power outages or low battery warnings, system would not set, tech came out not even a yr and changed the battery (due to bad battery), had to replace the battery again not to long after that. Let’s not get into customer service center, very rude, unless you call during the week and get someone you can understand. Long wait times as well.

Adt will do anything and say anything to get your business. Once your in they will back track and deny everything. They promise to take care of any item that went wrong with my system. My batteries are no good. They will not honor their claims since I already paid for the system.
Save your monthly payment and go elsewhere!
I have had so many problems with this system that I can’t wait till July because that is when my contract ends. I have Night owl and it is a one time fee and it work’s excellent.

Be aware of adt telling u one price on the phone then get too ur home with a different price! That is first thing. Second their customer service is really poor. So again be aware of adt

Since I can't reply to their reply to my last post, I'll provide another review/update.
As you can see, in their response they provided me an email to send a detailed explanation of what was needed. I did that and they quickly responded with 'we'll forward your information to the appropriate department'.
There hasn't been any follow up or resolution. Same story as calling in, if you email them, they just transfer/forward you to another department with no resolution.
ADT is history
I just cancelled my service after almost 15 years. Their customer service is terrible. You wait on hold for way too long. Outdated equipment and if you want an upgrade, you must wrap yourself into another contract. Stay away from this organization and go with the newer, more streamlined programs, for less money. Live and learn….
ADT has lost our trust
We've always had good service (8 years) with ADT until now. We moved over 6 months ago. When we moved, we called to move our service to the new location. Because we pay automatically, we didn't catch this issue until recently but we've been charged for both locations this whole time! 2 months ago I called to resolve the issue, but the first person I spoke with tried to tell me it was my fault and that nothing was wrong. I called back and was passed around to 5 different people until I finally spoke with someone competent and willing to take the time to figure it out with me. I was on the phone for 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, this still didn't resolve the issue and I was charged the next month too. I called back and had a similar experience, but they said it was resolved. I was billed again so I called back and was told that it takes up to 30 days to work itself out, but we still haven't been reimbursed and I've been on hold now for 34 minutes trying to get in touch with someone to find some answers. We are very unhappy and hate to cancel after 8 years, but this is absolutely ridiculous! ADT has lost our trust.
Save your time and money and look elsewhere
We have 2 businesses with ADT security systems, which we have never been able to use because they set it up wrong. They are unable to install it the way it sold to us and will not let us out of contract even though they have a 6 month guarantee. We've gone through numerous people in customer service and our sales rep basically told us to screw off. Money grab and trash customer service.
Very hard to cancel!!
If you ever want to cancel your ADT service be prepared to be on the phone for over 40 minutes, or more. I had to wait 29 minutes to finally get a person on the phone and then took another 10 minutes to finally get it canceled, since they try to sell you all kinds of stuff to keep you as a customer, even you clearly stated you don't want it anymore! I think it is unexpectable, to let your customer wait that long, even if they want to cancel. Any changes you want to do, you have to call them and be on hold forever, but if you want new service, they are quick to pick up. So, due to this cancelation experience I will never go with ADT again.
Fly By Night Sales Scam Service
I hired this company over the phone, the sales person gave me one price, then the installer showed up and did a site survey and told me what I needed to have versus what I ordered. Then I was told that I was signed up for one year of prepay for their services, the sales person did not mention that at all! Then the contract/invoice I signed did not reflect what the credit card was actually billed! $2,355.00 Versus the $1,000.00 I was told by the sales person.
So then I called and asked for a receipt of what was actually billed to m y credit card and they sent me an un branded excel spreadsheet without their logo or anything with that amount! Can you say SCAMMERS? Then they were not able to add their devices to Google Home using my paid for Google Gmail account and had to create a new gmail account to be able to connect the devices, I called " ADT support" and they told me I needed to call google and axe them why it don't work, yes she said AXE instead of ASK! This is one company that is a sad excuse for a security company, incompetent, unprofessional and unethical to say the least!

They lie, they don't appreciate you, they don't try and make things right, they are rude on the phone, then you're stuck in a 38 month contract!!!
Horrendous customer service
Horrendous customer service. Like many others, I called several times to get help with installing the system only to be transferred multiple times and put on hold for hours (literally).
I am trying to cancel and am now going on 3 days of calling, being transferred, disconnected, and told I need to speak to another department to cancel my account. This is how they 'keep' their customers.
Stay far away from ADT! I still haven't been able to cancel my account!
Worst suppport ever! Don’t get ADT
When my contract was up a year ago I told ADT I was canceling and going to brinks to have all cameras under one system. They talked us into upgrading and replaced our ring camera with a google doorbell camera. That was lady may, the camera still doesn’t work.tonight I waited 54 minutes to try trouble shooting why it won’t connect AGAIN and that was after being transferred 3 times and being asked the same questions. Again I was unable to receive help and I was given another call time tomorrow night. I asked to just cancel my service if they can’t send a new camera. They informed me it’s a 900 penalty plus equipment. Stay away from ADT! Run!! Horrible service. Absolutely 0 support. I’m calling Contact our states' Attorney General's Office of Consumer Affairs and filing a consumer complaint.

Malfunctioning equipment. Poor service. All they do is attempt to get more money out of you thru extended contracts. Horrible!!

No reason to email you. I talked to your support people and supervisors. Nothing productive. Had no system all winter while I was in Florida because you couldnt get it functioning. When this contract is up, I will be gone. In the meantime I will advise everyone to go elsewhere!
Poor service, questionable ethics
I just want to express my extreme dissatisfaction with this company. The sales rep that sold me my service and provided me with my contract was very adamant that my monthly charge would be $54.99 for the duration of my contract. He failed to note the fine print that your company has the right to increase this after one year. I signed the contract and failed to read this thoroughly enough, but thought that I could just trust the sales rep, so that is my fault. I just got off the phone with billing service, and they were unable to forward me the email in which I was to be notified of this rate increase.
Also, I canceled my service and get slapped with a 300$ termination fee, but am constantly being told "Thank you for being a loyal customer for 2.5 years". I understand, it's the contract I signed but these practices are not how you treat "loyal multi-year customers". All of these things feel greasy and sleazy for a company that is trying to make customers feel "safe".
This on top of the various issues with their products that led me to just turn this off for the majority of my term.
I will not be using ADT in the future and would not recommend anyone else to do so.
Update to ADT reply 5/10/2023:
I did send an email, I got a very generic response stating (paraphrased) The terms are disclosed, by signing you fully agree to the terms therein.
We understand how contracts work. That does not mean that your contract and sales rep are and were intentionally misleading. This reply I received is just further evidence of your company's poor customer service.
No customer service!!!
Like other posts here...it is about customer service. I tried to call about helping to set up my service. I was transferred to 3 people in different departments and they all had a "slow system". Finally, someone told me they were closed and I needed to call back during business hours. Granted I called on a Saturday afternoon!! First thing Monday morning, I called to cancel service and get a refund. They charged me for a month of monitoring and that is "nonrefundable"

We got an alarm installed during the pandemic and were told the "app" was delayed. Once the app was finally available approx. 6 months after installation we were chasing for some answers as in how to operate the app. and ended up not paying our monthly bill in order for someone to call us. We got 2 accounts ladies calling back asking us why we did not pay and explained that we would like someone to give us a call back to explain the app... Long story short we never got a techical support call back and have now sent an email again advising that if we do not hear back we will uninstall the alarm for ADT to pick up whenever they want as we are sick of chasing. 2 years and counting.....
ADT has the rudest customer services…
ADT has the rudest customer services I’ve Ever felt with. On Friday I was on Hold several different times throughout the day into the evening until 7:30pm still No help!!! In the process of this was transferred to 28 different people and hung up on 8 different times, each time having to call back… I was having chest pains trying to get someone to Close/Cancel my order!!! Still weekend has past and called back today I was on hold for 2 more hours and hung up on 3 times 🤬 I give up So I’m going to have to call back tomorrow because still didn’t get Anything Accomplished and Now they’re Closed!!! I Will Never Have ADT and I will Never Refer Anyone I know to them and I’m a Nurse I know Lots of People. Will tell results of this soon. Good Luck To Everyone Who Has This Service’
great service almost impossible to cancel and get out of it.
I was very happy with the service while I was using it. The response was always timely and courteous.
In March, I contacted ADT to cancel my account because I was moving and renting my home. After being bounced around for about an hour, I got someone to help me and said it was cancelled. Today, going through my CC records I saw I was still being charged. I called billing and they said it had not been cancelled and there was no record of my call. After 2 hours of being bounced around, giving all my information to countess people, I got someone who told me it was being disconnected. No confirmation number available so there is no record of this call. I have no guarantees that it will be cancelled. You cannot cancel online and need to talk to a specific dept. that makes you wait over one half hour. The lady was very nice and willing to help. I am not doubting the employees but the company's ways of handling cancellations. After almost 6 years, I am disappointed!

Do NOT do business with ADT. They are crooks and the will take advantage and prey on the young adults and teenagers (18 & 19 yr old). They are crooks and use 'bait-and-switch' tactics to have them sign onto long-term contracts.

Was told 2 times by 2 different representatives that there was no installation fee when moving from one location to another. Scheduled to have the service moved and was charged a $90 installation fee. When I brought this up to the rep they told me that the previous reps misled me and that they would not honor the original aggreement. Bad business
No transparency
No transparency. The Secure 24 technician who installed and sold me equipment, Matt O., convinced me to purchase additional equipment, this occurred the day after I closed on my house in March 2023. He explained the 75% cancellation fee for the price of the additional equipment (which was considerably nominal) however, no other fees were mentioned. When I asked questions as I read through the contract, he quickly summarized what the contract said, which, I thought was curious but, thought that he was being forthcoming about the terms of the contract.
Less that three months later, I requested a cancellation via phone call due to financial constraints as a new homeowner. I called on a Tuesday and was told someone would call me within 24 hours in which, I never received a phone call. When I called back on Monday, I was quoted one cancellation fee by two representatives then, received an invoice for the double the amount. After calling back SEVERAL times because it either went to voicemail or someone hung up on me, I finally spoke with someone who informed me of an additional charge.
There has been no transparency or clear explanations throughout me service with Secure 24. Had I been aware of the additional charges, I would not have signed a contract with them especially since there is a trickle down effect where I will also have to pay a cancellation fee with ADT.
I would advise anyone who signs a contract with them, or any other company, to have a lawyer review their contract before signing with them.
Worst customer service ever
Worst customer service ever. I signed the contract 03/17/23 and received my ADT+ DIY system. The hub is not working and i called ADT a couple time to get a replacement. They never send me a replacement or any new instructions. I still have the ticket numbers they created and i always get the answer that I will receive an email in the next 48 hours. Nothing happened since weeks.
Then I tried to cancel because I am in the 6 months period but they just transferred me from one representative to the next and nobody wants to cancel my contract. My system is not working and i pay for this every month. This company is not for security services it is a perfect example for big frauds.
I am now waiting 10 days for the confirmation of the cancellation. ADT is charging me again and again without providing any services. It's just a fraudulent company.
