Awful Experience
Our experience with ADT Commercial was unacceptable from the very beginning and only deteriorated from there. The relationship started off poorly due to a clear misrepresentation of the initial appointment. I was explicitly told the scheduled visit was a walkthrough only so the technician could review a newly acquired rental unit. I clearly explained that the space was in the middle of a buildout and was messy. I was hesitant to even schedule the visit, but the sales representative pressured me, stating the pricing was only valid for a few more days. I agreed to the appointment only after confirming multiple times that no installation would take place. Despite this, a technician arrived expecting to perform a full install while drywall crews were actively sanding walls with tools and materials spread throughout the space. To be clear, the technician himself was professional and even expressed frustration with the call center reps who had set unrealistic expectations. I recorded the original sales call and have listened to it multiple times. This quickly turned into a classic bait and switch. I was quoted an installation price that seemed unbelievable, so I repeatedly asked the representative to confirm it. Each time, I was told the same thing: $24.99 total, including all additional equipment. I was very transparent about what we needed and even had another security vendor assess the site beforehand, so I knew exactly what equipment was required. I itemized everything on the call, the representative took notes, repeated the list back to me, and still confirmed the same price over and over. Of course, once installation was pushed forward, the reality changed. The final install cost was over $1,000, despite being repeatedly told it would be $24.99 including the extra equipment. Again, all of this is recorded. When I called the next day to address this, I was essentially told I was out of luck because this was considered a commercial account rather than residential. I then spent over an hour on the phone speaking with four different representatives. Eventually, I was told I could remove the equipment myself and mail it back. This directly contradicted what earlier reps told me, which was that only a technician could remove the equipment and that tampering with it could create further issues. Given how poorly this was handled so far, I was not willing to risk losing even more money on yet another ADT mistake. To make matters worse, one of the door sensor batteries failed within the first week. We are in the process of launching a dozen or more retail locations. Based on this experience, I will never use ADT again and would strongly advise other business owners to look elsewhere. Another ADT normal review…BAD
I didn’t read the reviews of how bad ADT really is although I just experienced it myself. Terrible company. 4 New completely hardwired ADT systems(surveillance, smoke detectors, CO2, door/window sensors) and 16 years later, I’m done. My opinion is stay away. Latest incident and last install was never right. Pushy sales reps that don’t care. They just want a sale. Surveillance system never right. I asked for help 30 days after install. No help. Fast forward after their false promises and words to try and make me think there was no system failures, I’m told what it is to fix it lol. Yea right. A service tech comes to my home while on phone with another CCTV rep Chris and equally important his local ADT manager named Eric S. Eric was more interested in telling his techs where he just had lunch on speakerphone then he started talking about me(the customer) until one of his techs told him he was on speakerphone. I sent this to corporate that told me it’s not my business to know the outcome as to why this happened. Yes exactly that but it was sent to Eric’s’ next level manager. Wasn’t at all interested in helping fix my system. Only said they’d help me cancel all my services without delay and yes, I gladly agreed and cancelled. Read this and read this well.

Scammed us into signing contract, then charged my dead parent's account
We had a situation where a parent had a traumatic brain issue and we were concerned they might start wandering out of the home, so we called in ADT to see about installing a monitoring system in their home. They assured us at every stage of the install that we had a 6-month no questions asked cancellation window if we didn't like or need our service. Called within this window and were told no, we were locked in with a 3-year contract. Reaching out to customer service to resolve this got us nowhere. Fast forward to two years into the contract, the other parent passed away. They agreed to cancel the contract but with no refund for the entire third year, which had auto-paid from the deceased parent's credit card account postmortem. We will likely prevail with the credit card company and get that money back, but this is just beyond the pale. Given that they scammed us into buying service for us in the first place and now they are acting like it's OK to charge a dead person's credit card, I will never, ever do business with such a company again and urge anyone to avoid them at all costs.

Faulty Equipment /Expensive Technical Support
The front door sensor stopped working properly. It keeps showing open even when the door is closed and in the middle of the night it went off. I spent hours on the phone with remote technical support. They sent me a replacement magnet but that didn't work either. I called again and now they will send a person in a couple of days for a charge of $59. This means my security system will be out of service for yet a few days. I would expect ADT to be responsible for the quality of their equipment and provide prompt and effective service. This level of service and reliability is below what I would expect from a home security service, which is not cheap (almost $100/month). Looking for alternatives.

I feel like I was taken advantage of by representative. I have researched it after it was over. I stupidly did not do the research. I paid way too much . Other companies offer better deals for sure and give you as much if not better feeling of protection. I have a lot of bad things to say but just basically a ripoff. You should go elsewhere!!!

Replacement Battery Order
Ordered a replacement a replacement battery and paid for expedited delivery. Glad I called to check bc apparently it was never sent out. ADT had to reorder it again. Also requested for tracking number which was not provided until I chatted with them. For a security company this should not happen. They should be on top of things.

I have been dealing with ADT over an $800 refund since December, and the experience has been extremely frustrating and dishonest. A manager specifically told me I would receive my refund by January 20, 2026. That date has now passed, and I’ve been informed that this was not true and that I won’t receive the refund until March. To make matters worse, the same manager who made the promise is now refusing to take my calls. This is not a small amount of money, and being given false information and then ignored is completely unacceptable. I trusted ADT to handle this professionally, and instead I’ve been met with delays, broken promises, and zero accountability. If you’re considering ADT, be very cautious—especially when it comes to billing and refunds.

I got hustled
I got hustled. I wish I had seen this page before. I would never have gone forward. Of course they are on here trying to do damage control. Look at these reviews!! I asked for minimum security monitoring. The technician spoke very fast, said all kinds of discounts and hustled me for 3,500 worth of equipment I don't need. This was not what I wanted and he knew it. They work on commission. Once he walked out of the door, he had no more use for me. They give you only three business days to change anything so you have no chance to live with the new equipment to see what works. Most of it, my home doesn't even need. I am so angry about this. I asked for home monitoring and now I have to pay 1,800 to get out of this contract with a bunch of useless high tech equipment. I used to use them for home security. So sad to see what they have become. I will be writing this review wherever possible. I might be powerless to change the contract, but I have a big mouth everywhere else. Bet on it.

I EMAILED YOU!! REACHED OUT ON FACEBOOK!! CALLED SEVERAL TIMES!! adt+ is the most scandalous company i have ever had the displeasure of working with! they are completely unethical and lied to me repeatedly!! 5 MONTHS OF NONE STOP PROBLEMS!!!! i was lied to during the sales process by Gregory mills using extravagant scare tactics and told i would have to call their "video guy" for video surveillance. Turns out there is no video guy he just said that so it would be outside of my ability to get financing and i would have to pay out of pocket!! the system is garbage and does not work at all!!! they installed my doorbell wrong intentionally so I would have to pay for them to fix it!! the sensors FALL off repeatedly all the time!!! THE BASE IS FAULTY AND CONSTANTLY SAYS IT IS OFFLINE!!! i called to cancel as they claim to have 6-month money-back guarantee which they refused to cancel and keep stretching out this timeline deliberately refusing to remedy these issues!!! I have called off work several times to accommodate their tech - 1 of which said he did not have the time to fix my sensors!?!?!?!?!? are you serious?!?!?!?!!? NOT TO MENTION I FOUND OUT TODAY I WAS MISLED MADE TO SIGN DOCUMENTS SAYING I WAS HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE! I WAS NEVER HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE THEY SAID IF I DID NOT SIGN THEY COULD NOT LEAVE MY HOUSE!! THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEIGN TOLD OT SIGN BECAUSE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE OR BEING FORCED TO SIGN SO THEY "CAN LEAVE THE PROPERTY"!!!! i have never been so disgusted in my life!!! this branch needs to be shut down! they need to come get their garbage equipment and give me my money back!! i am appalled at how they operate so unprofessionally and unethically!!! I have posted on Yelp, Google, Facebook (several place on FB), I went on the Better Business Bureau and posted twice there as well!! I posted to TrustPilot.com and PissedConsumer.com . I will continue to do so until I am refunded and released from this unethical misleading contract! The system is trash! I would not pay 50$ for it let alone 6,500$!!!! i should have googled ADT and done more research! the number of lawsuits they are already facing is appalling!!! Now i am calling my lawyers too!!! ADT has been an absolute nightmare
ADT has been an absolute nightmare. They still will not let me cancel my service and are trying to force me to pay the full amount of my contract to get out—despite the fact that they are not even following their own contract. They are not providing the services they are supposed to provide. From the very beginning, the installation was done incorrectly. The system was not properly connected to my garage, and the technician who installed the service could not get my front door lock or garage door to connect. I was eventually able to get the front door lock connected on my own after refusing to let them charge me an extra $250 to replace something that did not need to be replaced. Even then, the system never worked properly. I could not lock my door or open my garage unless I was literally inside my house, which completely defeats the purpose of having a security system. On top of that, the system was constantly “not communicating with the server.” If there had been an emergency at my home, I would not have been able to contact the police through ADT anyway. This has been an absolute waste of money. When I tried to cancel—after ADT clearly voided their own contract by failing to provide the promised services—customer service was beyond horrible. Between the incompetent technicians and terrible customer service, this has been one of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had.

Don’t trust ADT
After 4 years the door bell quit working. I was charged 59.00 for someone to come out and tell me it needed replaced and then they charged 150.00 for labor ( there was no labor) Now I have to pay someone to install a new google doorbell. In the same week I received messages on my control app that my sensor batteries were low and it will cost me 160.00 for a technician to come out and replace batteries. I feel like I’m being robbed over and over again on something that I’m already paying 70.00 a month for. I’m disgusted with the entire company. When I try to get answers via MyADT.com; I’m conveniently disconnected. I no longer trust the company; I have too much invested in the equipment now but look forward to being able to cancel my contract. If I cancel before contract ends; they charge cancellation fees. Are you catching a pattern? They overcharge for everything.

ADT home protection
I hate everything about this company. ATD, ADT+, ADT pulse, etc., etc. They are all scams. They route you through different departments hoping that you give up on the call and just allow them to take your money. The worst customer service ever when their entire company is customer service. I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE this company with all my heart!

NEVER fix problem just wanted paid
We added a dining room and wanted to add a smoke detector in that room, and have it connected to our ADT system we purchased in 2005. I called on Aug 26 of 2025 and ordered one paid the $100 downpayment of the $227.40 bill. I paid the balance on 9/5 when the tech arrived. He was not able to get it SD connected to my current ADT system. He said a 2nd tech would come and install it. I was charged an additional 90.30 for the 2nd tech to try an install, I was told I had to pay it and then would be reimbursed because the cost should be the original $227.40. They would go back and fix the bill after the SA was work. I had a third tech come because 1 & 2 were not able to make it work. I was told I had to pay 10.99 per month on 10/3 for the tech to be free and would fix the extra charges after it was working correctly. Tech 3 & 4 were not able to install it, all that happen was my motion detectors start to act up going off in the middle of the night multiple times. I spent several hours on the line with two different set of online techs trying to reprogram my system, this is now November, and more parts of my system were not working. Motion detectors not on when we were away. etc. When tech 4 was here he broke the keypad at our front door, so it no longer works. The last time we were woke up in the middle of the night, I called ADT in the middle of the night to turn off our system, and I disconnected all power to the system so we could sleep without the alarm going off. I have a balance on our account of $271.67 for the SD, tech and monitoring of our broken and dead system. I have talked to about 25 different people at ADT and they are not able to help me. The keep saying we will install a new system and give me credit back for the SA and all the charges BUT not until I agree to install a new system. I have been told by at least 3 different ADT people the new system will be free, but I don't trust them to make it right after the new system is installed.

Title: Ongoing Equipment Issues and Unacceptable Support I’ve had two sensors giving me “low battery” errors for about six weeks. Every single time I tried to fix them, I had to work with ADT support because their system requires you to go through them — you can’t just reset or fix things easily on your own. Today, because I was leaving town, I called ADT so I wouldn’t have to leave my home unsecured. After almost two hours on the phone, the first technician could not reset the sensors. I then asked to speak to a supervisor, who also tried and failed to fix the issue. They escalated it to higher-tier technical support, and that didn’t work either. I was told a senior technician would call me back. I waited all day for that call. When he finally called, I answered, but he did not respond and hung up. I then received a message saying he would call back. Over an hour later, he called again. I answered again — and once again, there was no response and the call disconnected. After six weeks of repeated problems, hours on the phone, and no resolution, I still have malfunctioning sensors. For a company that sells “security and peace of mind,” this experience has been the exact opposite. I would not recommend ADT based on this experience.

ADT is a horrible company. They lock you in at a rate then increase without notice. I called them about it. They lowered it then didn't follow through and kept raising it. AVOID AT ALL COST

Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Was lied to about what could be done with our security plan after selling our home. Had to talk to multiple different people who all told me different things, the only interest any of them had was selling us another plan, not answering our questions or helping us with what we needed. After finally coming to a conclusion, we got a call the following day stating that we were lied to and they went ahead and cancelled our account. Will never do business with ADT ever again.

Continued charging and taking money after cancellation
I canceled my ADT service on Nov 12th via phone call when I moved. I had confirmation of the cancellation and even had multiple ADT agents reach out to me to try and start service at my new address. Instead of canceling my service ADT continued to bill and run my auto-payment for service at a home I no longer lived in. Only when I reviewed my credit card statements did I realize ADT had continued to take money for a service I canceled. ADT accepted two months’ service payments at a property where there was no security being provided. There was no internet connection. When the internet connection was terminated ADT did no even reach out to investigate. ADT just kept taking my money. I spent more than an hour on the phone trying to cancel my service again on Jan 6. It took two phone calls and six agents one hour and fifteen minutes to resolve my case. This after being a customer for seven years. Do yourself a favor and never begin service with ADT. Find a local security business/company and they will provide all the equivalent services and actually answer your call. I can’t no recommend ADT enough.

The Sales Rep said I could cancel
The Sales Rep said I could cancel any time, I found out the only way to do that is the total contract has to be paid in full. or they will sue for the total amount. It’s a very unfair company to do business with!!

BUYER BEWARE
My experience has been horrible. Please avoid this company if at all possible. Here are my reasons 1) They wanted to charge me almost $1000 for the equipment. When I said I wouldn't pay that much they waived the fee. Sounds like a good thing, but felt more like a scam to see it I was dumb enough to pay them. 2) they would not honor monthly charge they provided in writing, even when I read the contract back to them. 3) the system did not work, alarms going off in the middle of the night the first 2 days after installation. 4) customer service is not good. Long waits with lots of transferring so I could explain a problem all over again. 5) Because of the above problems I cancelled after 2 days and within the 72 hour cancellation window. They offered to lower the cost for 6 months if I stayed but the experience was so bad I declined. Was told someone would call to pick up the equipment and that my first month fee would be refunded, I called back 1-2 weeks later to check on the status of my refund and was told to be patient. Now 6 months later they are still charging my credit card. When I called to complain I was told I hadn't followed the prescribed cancellation protocol, despite confirming my cancellation with 3 different individuals. When I asked if they thought it was right to charge a customer who never used the service and had called multiple times regarding cancellation, I was told "you signed the contract." So BUYER BEWARE, this is not an ethical company. Take your business elsewhere. I gave them one star because a negative number is not an option.

Poor customer service as poor as it can get. If a theif cut your service wires, ADT will never pick the phone and check on you. What is the value of having security service.

Don’t do business with ADT/PROTECTION 1
With reviews like this, I’m surprised they’re still around. I got my ADT system through my HOA. ADT has an HOA rep restating that deals with all the HOA homes. When I was in the process of selling my home, I called out ADT HOA representative and told her to cancel my account due to selling and moving. She didn’t do it. So I had to call ADT’s own customer service representatives at least 4 different times. Each time they told me to call our ADT HOA representative and. Called left voice mail nothing happened. I got fed up since they can’t seem to do their job. Then they started having their collections agency calling me everyday but since I blocked them, they get sent to the voice mail. You won’t get a penny from me for NOT doing your job ADT!

Terrible customer service locked us into a 3 year contract with a plan we didn’t need charged us for camera monitoring when we don’t have cameras. Tried to cancel because I felt taken advantage of and they want to charge $700 to cancel. When I asked to talk to someone in management they refused to transfer the call. DO NOT USE THEM!!!
