Over an hour on hold
Over an hour on hold, finally got connected and in less than one minute got disconnected. My alarm goes off at all times during the day, even when it is disarmed. Shows low batteries, so I changed every one ... guess what, still shows low battery on three sensors. Finally got through to schedule an appointment for a tech, it was over a week away for the first available. Rebooted the system three times today and everything was fine , for about an hour, then all hell broke loose with the alarm going off, as it has twice this week in the middle of the night, and it's only Tuesday. Customer service is non existent. I had my system completely updated on March of this year and it's been nothing but trouble ever since. Now I'm stuck with two more years on my contract, If you're looking take a hard look at Simplisafe ,,, run away from ADT

I had ADT in my prior home and had experienced excellent service and no equipment failures. Now, in new house, have had many equipment failures, all sensor batteries and even mainframe battery died in under 2 years and over 81 minute wait time to speak to someone! When the mainframe battery failed under a year after having the system, I was charged over $100 to replace their defective device. (Tech even said its supposed to last at least 5 years but he's been replacing many because of faulty devices.) Why are we made to pay for their broken equipment?! The monthly service fee should be for functioning equipment! Usually when a company sells you something broken, you get a refund or accommodation, not told you must pay twice! Hope Better Business Bureau is on to this scam!

We are waiting on the phone right now…
We are waiting on the phone right now to CANCEL our service, and WAIT TIME is more than 107 MINUTS. Out of 8 sensors, 6 are faulted and bypassed. We had numerous calls with ADT over past month and system was reset twice just to fail again in the middle of the night. Exterior camera does not work since June 2022, and we never received any warnings. When alarm went off few times in the past NO ONE contacted us to confirm, just an automated email. This is just ridiculous for the prize they charge. Save you money, go with some decent company that actually cares.

Terrible customer service …
Reaching someone other than a sales associate at ADT is so frustrating. Waits many times exceed 40 minutes. The way my system actuallly works was not adequately explained. The technician was short of patience and seemed in a huge hurry to get to the next sell even though he finished his work in my home much earlier than anticipated. Now I have questions and it is next to impossible to reach a knowledgeable person.

We got a security system installed and they charged us 4,000$ which we were not quoted at
We got a security system installed and got quoted 600$. After the tech left we got the bill and was charged 4,000$. Tried to get a hold of customer service and was not able to. After we got a hold of customer service, we got told that there nothing ADT can due to change the services because we were locking in a contract. PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!!!

Malfunctioning systems
I truly don’t know what I was thinking when I signed up for ADT. I’ve been diagnosed with anxiety since having ADT and all of the false fire alarms that go off in the middle of the night. When I call and speak to someone about the situation and I was confused to hear that I would have to pay to have a tech come out and check the system. Their favorite line is everything will be fine after rebooting the system. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rebooted the system. The front porch, living room AND garage sensors are all malfunctioning. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!! Stay away from these folks.

Unhelpful and overpriced
One of my sensors isn’t working and they tried to fix the problem remotely by rebooting the main panel. When that failed they told me I could either pay $100 to have them come out or deprogram that sensor. I chose to deprogram but think it’s tantamount to stealing because I still have to pay for the service. Customer service did not care that I was not satisfied with my experience with company. I say avoid. They are overpriced and unhelpful. I will be switching as soon as they stop forcing me to pay for service that is now effective on only half of my house. Ridiculous.

Continuing FRAUD
You are all so sorry for a "frustrating" experience????? These experiences from ALL your clients and customers are not frustrating. THEY ARE ILLEGAL THEFT OF CONTRACTED SERVICES! One of these day there will be a class action suit against you for all this illegal activity with documentation that outlines the continuing fraudulent actions in committed by you in perpetuity. As an attorney I hope to co author the briefs that will be submitted in a circuit court! That day is coming!

I have had ADT for 6 months and the…
I have had ADT for 6 months and the camera above my driveway had to be reset 4 times I told them it was a defect and I was told by a CSR that it would be $60 for a technician to come out, also after 3 months the Google nest stop working. I will not renew after my Contract is finished. I should have purchased my own home alarm system. I've had nothing but issues.

Very Bad Service
I had to wait for over 30 minutes to talk to a service rep. The person could not speak in clear English. After trying to get my problem solved repeatedly, I finally hung up in frustration. I do not recommend ADT for security services!

I'm updating my ADT review
I'm updating my ADT review after trying to cancel their services. Wow. I am paying nearly $90 a month for basic service. I have no cameras, no magic doorbell, no smart devices. But I'm paying more than the $45 I see online for basic. What gives. Its called screw the customer. I'm in the process of looking for something new - where they care about the customer and not what they can get out of him. New Review Dec 26, 2022 I have more info to share. Beware of ADT. I called customer service to cancel my account. After finally getting connected with the cancel service line I got GET THIS... I was the 65 person in line. 65 people ahead of me wanting to cancel their ADT service. RED FLAG !!! They asked if I wanted a call back. I waited. (I'd heard they don't call back) I finally connect almost an hour later. Ask for my name and then I get the ADT sad story. OH your a 12 year loyal customer we would be so sorry to lose you. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.... What can we do to keep you. ON and on and on for 10 minutes. Complained about the high cost, that I"d been complaining about for 2 years or more and that you never saw it as a reason to lower the cost then. Basically within a 15 minute span they went from $83.44 to $55 then to $45. And I said no thanks. You should of done that long before now. It gets better. As I was getting ready to hang up I asked now I"m cancelling today right. Today, Dec. 14, 2022. And the ADT rep says yes and you'll be billed for an additional month. What. HELL no you are. If my service stops now you aren't charging me for another month when I don't have any service. What crap is this. I wasn't to be charged for another week and a half. (ADT charges all their payments in ADVANCE, before you get any services) So they already had my months money. So the Rep says on the phone, alright I've put on the record that you are not to be charged for next month. And that your service is cancelled effective today. Well, it was cancelled that day because when I went back online my account was gone. It gets even better. I went to the bank and cancelled my bank account because I knew well enough they were going to go in and take the money out and say it was a billing error and I"d never see it again even though the phone rep said I would not be charged. Most company's except ADT, when you cancel and you have auto pay they will be sent a final bill via mail. It will include any outstanding payments or credits and if you owe you send them a check or get a payment from them. (main reason for this is because you now can't get online to see what the final bill is - when your account is closed so is your online account.) That evidently didn't stop ADT. They sent me a paper bill asking for money of course after the agent said there wouldn't be any. And then they hit my bank account during the time that the paper bill was in the mail. Two days later I got a items returned from my bank and the next day got a email from ADT saying my online bank account was closed and they couldn't get their payment. For one they weren't authorized to get that payment because they said they weren't going to charge me. I basically call that attempting to STEAL. There must be a reason they aren't the number 1 security system anymore. Lack of TRUST in the company being #1. And by the way. For those buying ADT camera's. IF you didn't know already they don't monitor those. Only your security system. You'll need to use a phone app to watch your cameras. So instead of paying too much for their overpriced equipment buy it from somewhere else and use their app.

buying your own system is better
buying your own system is better. ADT doesnt have a continuous recording, it is unreliable and does not record when the motion sensor is set to record. more time laps between set times. The door bell camera was installed and was supposed to hold a charge longer than a day or two and it does not. I hate this system and would not recommend it to anyone.

Most unreliable Company I have ever…
Most unreliable Company I have ever dealt with in my life. If you can’t rely on them to keep an appointment, how can you rely on them to protect your home? They were a no-show four times for four different appointments at my house. Each time I had to takeoff from work because they give you a four hour window, and each time they never showed up, never called, etc. I called many times and escalated the issue. Finally some guy came out with no tools and no equipment. The rep on the phone had said he could definitely swap out my super large ridiculous ADT panel on the wall for a smaller one, and that they don’t even make those large keypad panels anymore. When he got to the house, he said the opposite is true. They only make those super large panels and there’s no smaller panel. I told him my whole ADT nightmare experience and he said he would personally have a local sales rep call me. It’s been five days and no one has called. I’m remodeling my home and need to knock down the wall where the ADT panel happens to be. I’ve had the contractors, carpenters, electricians, and painters, all in line waiting for the ADT guy to do his one little piece. Each time he was a no-show, all of them had to be rescheduled and I lost a ton of money and so did they!!!!! For Christmas this year, my gift to myself is firing their unreliable unprofessional unethical asses and hiring a new company !!!!!!!!!!! They should be embarrassed and ashamed. I’m actually writing a book about accountability and Customer service, and I’m devoting a whole chapter to ADT and how horrible they are!!!!!!!

Absolutely awful and disgraceful…
Absolutely awful and disgraceful company. Conveniently, they require you to call them in order to cancel, and the wait time ALWAYS exceeds 45 minutes, plus they cannot call you back..scam much? Not to mention the equipment is awful and useless. It has been a headache to maintain and has no real use. Garbage company and thankfully Ring/SimpliSafe will put them out of business soon.

I interacted with 4 ADT employees by phone today. Everyone of them were not native English speakers. Several were so hard to understand I had to keep asking for the person to repeat themselves. Besides the long waits to speak to a person, I have to understand various foreign accents. Investigating alternatives. I’ve been with ADT for 14 years. I think it's time for a change

Utter rubbish- we could have died
The alarm got tripped and someone called us to inform us about the alarm. We confirmed that we are not home and that they should send someone. 1. We got the first 15 minutes later. 2. Waited by the gate for another 10 mins. 3 called the line to get feedback on when the person is coming. 4. The lady told us that the delay was due to loadshedding! Do they use electric cars? Honestly don’t get the correlation. 5. Waited another 20 minutes then decided to enter because it was starting to be pathetic to wait any longer. No one was there luckily. I have to mention, as write this hours later, we are still waiting. Called the emergency line again and no one is picking up, I am just getting ads. Imagine if it was a life or death situation!!! Appalling!! The signs of incompetency have always been there. We would test the alarm as per instruction monthly but they would call 30 minutes later.

I never write reviews, but had to comment on a recent experience with ADT. Been a customer for 30+ years. Recently had our keypad replaced as it was old and sticking. Since that time the FC symbol pops up and we have lost connection to landline. Have spent hours with them talking me through resetting, etc. and blaming our internet, tv, phone carrier for the problem. Had that carrier come out and their stuff works, so back to ADT. ADT wants to charge for coming out, when I already paid for them to come out to change the keypad, which started the problem. They can’t come for at least a week or more (it’s already been 2 weeks and several phone calls to have me do their work) and so we are limited with our service until that time, but still need to pay the bill for service we aren’t receiving. Doesn’t matter that we’ve been loyal customers for 30+ years. They won’t waive the charge, come out ASAP, etc. So disappointed in their service…

I would give ZERO stars if I could
I would give ZERO stars if I could. Received a proposal with a free Google nest doorbell. On installation they charged me for doorbell. Multiple phone calls (over an hour on hold for each) and nobody wanted to help. The told me “you added more equipment so you lost the discount”. What?! I spent MORE money so you remove the discount?? In addition, they signed me up for a FIVE YEAR contract and never asked or discussed with me. They give you a tiny screen to sign with no information. When I got the emailed copy I saw the removed discount and the 5 year contract. Save yourself a huge hassle. SimpliSafe was half the price for equipment, less than half the monthly monitoring cost, they actually answer the phone when you call, and they have NO contract. ADT is removing their system tomorrow. Good riddance.

ADT has terrible service
We had ADT come and add more sensors. They put a motion detector where cats walking down the stairs triggered it ( their plan)(we were told cats wouldn’t trigger). But no, we had to come home twice to check house after that one sensor was triggered. I asked them to fix their mistake with that one sensor. I was told since the problem was immediate they would come with no $60 fee. The installer took the $100 sensor off my wall and left with it, reiterated no service call fee and the motion detector would be reimbursed . BUT NO:I was charged for the call and my $100 piece of equipment was gone. HOURS on hold and they cut me off twice but finally I should be reimbursed within a month! How can they have INCOMPETENT installers, billing departments and phone/customer service and be a suitable security company. I am looking in to a better company!

Horrible customer service
Oh my God. I tried to cancel my account after 3 years, when I was on phone for 59 minutes, the third person that start talking to me was crazy, mad, nervous. My shop broke by thief, ADT system didn't even notice this theft.

If I could rate ADT zero stars I would! They are absolutely horrible! My camera never works. I’m never able to view anything. It’s always loading. Pls just don’t waste your time or money. Look into other options.
