1 call to get ADT. 15+ calls, 30+ days to cancel and I’m still in ADT hell! DON’T USE ADT! I’m also month to month.

Appaling customer service, no replies even after numerous emails.
Wanted to cancel before contract end as was closing the business and didn't mind paying the balance for the next 10 months (remaining period on the contract).
But they wanted hundreds more as penalty for ending contract.
I wonder if the ADT company is going…
I wonder if the ADT company is going under? Why is their service so poor? We’ve been on the phone for hours to fix their system in our home (we had been ADT customers for >10 yrs). Finally they sent an agent who spent five minutes and said that we needed an updated system, and mentioned that he frequently made these house visits w the same conclusion. He was frustrated too - why couldn’t they just let us know by phone? Now we are back in the phone for >hour so far w ADT trying to cancel our service. There are plenty of other security systems w much better customer service.
We have had ADT since July 2022
We have had ADT since July 2022, since they beginning we have had nothing but issues. Last night was the last straw. We were cooking dinner and the smoke alarm went off, my daughter was playing on my phone in her room, ADT called spoke to my daughter for TWO MINUTES- no idea what about... But ADT did not reach back out to me or my husband. The code was cleared by ADT. Thankfully THIS time it wasn't anything serious, but in the event that it was an actual emergency- then what?? When I called ADT they stated that because I inputted my code on our panel, that "by passed" them. That couldn't be anything further from the truth considering the multiple times our fire alarm has gone off, non emergency, and our code was inputted on our panel.
Edit to add: my daughter is 6… so again, this code should NEVER have been cleared, until ADT spoke with myself, or husband.
ADT worst customer experience
First I am not one to give negative reviews in fact I had to create an account with consumer affairs to do so. The customer experience could not be worse at ADT alarms. If it was one negative exchange you would not be seeing this review. This has been going on for over 2 months. I have been on the phone with them 5 times now for close to an hour each time. Today I have been handed off to the "correct person" who can help me 6 different times so far currently still on hold waiting for help. Over two months ago the batteries went out in my keypad. I called them in hopes that they would send out a new battery since it is a specialized battery that you cannot get in local stores. They told me they could not order it and I needed to go online and order from their website. So I did. Not only did they send me the incorrect battery they sent me 7 of them 4 weeks later and charged me for all 7 at $40 a battery. So on the phone again I was issued a refund for the batteries and now for some reason, they were able to help me on the phone to order a new battery. The gentleman that helped me noted on the order and specified that the AAA battery pack was what is needed. They said again that it would be 3-5 business days for the order to arrive. 4 weeks later again they sent me the AA battery pack. So back to the phone. This time after being bounced around to 3-4 different people we ordered the AAA battery pack one more time. 3 weeks go by and still no battery. I call them today and have been handed off to 6 different people on the first call before the phone hung up on me during a transfer to a seventh. Currently on hold again. I hope that whoever is in charge of systems out there sees this review. I am a business owner and would never accept this service for my clients. Thanks for reading my rant.
Fraudulent
This company is fraudulent. I am looking for like minded indivduals to bring a class action against the company in the UK.
I called 5 times needing an alarm…
I called 5 times needing an alarm certificate . 4 times I was disconnected. One agent told me I didn't have an ADT system. Odd since ADT sure debits my bank acct each month. Sorry customer service. I'm going to switch to AT&T.
So Angry
We were an Ackerman customer. ADT bought Ackerman and took over our account with no notification or choice. We wanted to cancel our account, but the only way to do so is to call customer service. We have been on the phone since 1:30 this afternoon trying to do this and were left on hold several times for hours because every time we said we wanted to cancel, we'd be put on hold again without any notification and left on hold for another hour. Even though we never signed a contract with ADT (and our Ackerman contract was long over), they still said we have to provide 30 days notice. I cannot tell you how frustrating this has been. We're finally canceled at 8:20 this evening. If we could give them no stars we would do so.

I wish I could give them a zero. We have had to call at least TEN times in the first year due to our doorbell camera not working and wasting hours of my time. No communication between customer support and tech. I do not recommend at all!

THEY USED A 3RD PARTY COMPANY SAFE STREET TO INSTALL AN ALAMR SYSTEM THAT PREVIOUSLY WAS REPLACED - SCAMMED ME OUT OF MONEY AND NOW WANT TO CHARGE ME $900 TO CANCEL A SERVICE I NEVER USED. THEY CHARGED ME $54 MO FOR 14MO ON AN ALAM NEVER USED
Worst customer service and a SCAM!
Worst customer support and a scam! Stay away at all costs! I’m active military and submitted my move orders to cancel service a month ago just to still be charged $400 because their customer service team never processed my orders! Now my family is out that money for the holidays because they can’t refund directly and say I need to call back in a few days because of that to start the process of getting my money back.. on top of that I’ve had multiple cameras and devices stop working and when I contacted them about it nothing was ever done or fixed! By far the worst company I’ve had to deal with and I’d recommend all fellow service members and everyone else to avoid them at all costs!

I been with ADT for almost 16 years every time you called they put you on hold and after they disconnected i already called 3 times my monitor system don’t work but they give me runaround
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER
If you call them for customer service, you’ll constantly get transferred from one person to the next, you’ll be explaining your story over and over and over. And told it’s getting handled. We tried for over a month to get a refund on devices we had returned because we never used them. Constantly talking to managers, from one department to the next. Being told that we’ll see our refund in the next 24 hours and nothing. Finally we decided to call Bank of America. They said that they are constantly opening up cases against ADT for the same issue. As if they try to steal money from you. Within a couple of days Bank of America issued the refund yet they are still investigating. ADT is nothing more than a bunch of incompetent morons who play monkey in the middle with you and your money while you’re trying to get a refund. I get better service from incompetent teenagers that Walmart and Home Depot hire.
I honestly can't wait to cancel
I honestly can't wait to cancel, but unfortunately I have to wait to cancel until February because of bs contracts and fees. But in the meantime, we made the mistake of going with their new solar panel service sunpro. We had been wanting solar panels for some time. Sadly our experience has been terrible. They created multiple holes in our roof that I only discovered because it started leaking onto my bed after a good rain. I told my agent i was dissatisfied and angry and he told me i was being disrespectful. And that was after trying to say that the leak must have already been there. Like I had 15 holes in my roof! Like drill holes... they were all leaking like a faucet.
That was almost six months ago now and they are still trying to "fix it" by plugging it with silicone every time they come here. Customer service is terrible. I am so dissatisfied with this whole process. Even after having their security system for years, it's over priced and I wouldn't recommend it.

If you want the worst service go with adt. You stay in hold to talk to people at adt for at least an hour. They put a new system in my home that was a seven year old system. They said it was new out of the box but was the old model and told me I had to keep it or they would charge me 1000. Now I have to take them to court. They are the worst company ever
Horrible customer service!
Horrible customer service agents. None of them knew what they were talking about & kept transferring me to different departments who would then transfer me because they didn't know of a solution. At the end, the agent just hung up on me after a full hour of me waiting on the phone for a resolution. Horrible.
Scammed by ADT
I installed ADT for a one year rental house a year ago.
The landlord for this house did not want it and I told ADT that. ADT assured me that was not a problem.
I called today to cancel the service and ADT informed me I own the system and owe them $750. It was totally news to me. I would never buy a system for a rental house and service for more than a year.
They said I signed a contract to this effect electronically. I don't remember it and I don't have it.
There would be no sensible reason for me to agree to such a thing. I told ADT this and now they are referring me to their legal team. Anyone else out there who was scammed by ADT? Also I've paid over $600 for this system over the last year and it has never worked properly. I've been a customer at ADT for more than 20 years and now they treated me like garbage. After my experience I recommend yo0u do not trust ADT.
Horrible Customer Support
Having sensor and app issues. I called and it said the wait time was 60 to 90 minutes. Screw that. So, I chatted to SHAUN and he took for every to respond. Seriously. 1 to 3 minutes to respond "okay." So, he asked me to do something and then ABBY became the tech. Seriously? I have one year left of my contract. I should be able to cancel without penalty if their product is not working.
We have not been able to use our alarm…
We have not been able to use our alarm in 2 years. However it is constantly going off at all hours for no reason. We have 5 children in our house and at night it scares the crap out of all of them. We have asked repeatedly to have someone come out to replace and/ or fix our system. Sick and tired of not being able to get ahold of anyone. Or a return call from a technician. We are fixing to cancel our service since we seem to be wasting money for two years on something we can’t use. Do not recommend them at all !!!

I’m a adt customer they are terrible when it comes to cloud recording space they control it giving customers only 6k a month why aren’t we offered more space or given unlimited space like ring they are wrong and need to get they act together I say just for that dnt go to adt get ring
I’ve cancelled my service and switched…
I’ve cancelled my service and switched off the equipment, but now I’m being inundated with automated calls saying “they’ve detected a fault” and the calls are literally all times of the day and they ringing until you answer. Had 5 calls at 2am last night. I’ve cancelled and don’t know how to make the calls stop.
Do not use ADT, when I was active customer and needed support you’d wait hours to speak to someone. Avoid this company.

If I could do negative I would. I'm currently on hold for the 3rd day because after so many hours of holding I had to hang up. My security system is unplugged and stored in my closet because it was beeping and I can not get someone to talk to on the phone. Nothing like paying for a product you can't use. Horrible experience would not recommend.
20 years means nothing
We have been customers of ADT for over 20 years. Twice in the past year they have dropped scanning coverage - did not alert that we were no longer being monitored - because they didn't know. It was only discovered when I called following an alarm to which they did not respond. When I most recently called I was on the phone for a couple of hours and in frustration cancelled the contract. Despite lack of coverage they billed me through the end of the year
