Never Buy ADT! Beware!
ADT is the worst service I've ever purchased. Beyond the fact that you get stuck in a contract, their support and customer service is horrendous as well.
The motion sensor I have would go off for no reason, often triggering a false alarm and a police call, which caused me to get fined twice. ADT came out and said it was a faulty sensor and replaced it, but their R&D team refused to reimburse me for the city fines after I had to wait for a response for 2-3 months. They claim I should have checked the batteries, but their tech on-site (which I was still charged $50 for) said it was faulty and put it in the report.
Not only that, but the panel would randomly get a Trouble alert. When rebooting the panel wouldn't work, I would contact technical support. They rarely are able to resolve it through chat (The chat box asks for your First Name, Last Name, has a second box asking "What's your name?" and the agent will still ask for your name again, unbelievable) or over the phone, so they offer a virtual appointment that typically can't be serviced until 2-3 days later. If they can't figure it out still, they will send a tech and charge you for it.
Save your time, money, and sanity and go with Ring Security. It's cheaper, better quality service and equipment, and no contract. I'll never look back.
Terrible
Terrible! I cancelled and they charged me for two more months and then when I caught it they said I had to pay for one last month 30 more days. Such BS. Will never use them for any of my properties again.
Does Not Work Without Landline!
Do not buy this service unless you have a landline. Every time a cell tower goes down the connectivity alarm goes off. This happens in my area 2-3 times a week. After 5-6 technician visits, the suggestion is I install a landline (for an extra $50/ month!). They can't connect to my home internet with a more reliable cable line. You cannot cancel service on their website, as they require you call and speak with a representative. After 45 minutes on the phone with a representative who had no last name, no employee number, no supervisor available, and no access to send me an email confirmation, I hope I have cancelled the service. There are no quality checks throughout their system (should be a warning to any prospective customers). Overall I give ADT a D-.

One day I discovered that my cell phone box wasn't sending alerts to ADT. My house could have been robbed or burnt down and no calls would have been made to the police or fire department. About a month ago I scheduled a service appt to have them fix. Dozens of phone calls and several days of missed work it's still not fixed. I learned that tech service and installation are two different departments and that ADT can only accommodate one ticket at a time and any prior tickets are expunged. This caused a lot of issues. Techs missed appointments, the wrong teams would show up and if they showed up they came with the wrong equipment. Its a long story and even after explaining everything to ADT they still insisted on charging me $59 to have a tech come fix something that is theirs.
I would put Zero as a rating as ADT has dropped the ball,!!!

I have been a customer for almost 34 years. I upgraded and paid thousands less than a year ago. Their warranty is worthless. Their techs demand 3 to 500.00 for a service call to tell me the equipment they sold me is non functional period. They basically scanned their customers to dump several Warehouses of junk. The cameras WILL NOT STAY CONNECTED for more than a few days and after they start doing this they cease to function at all. I have tried every day to reach the " correct" department but after some incoherent off shore idiot finally answers to SCREEN the calls it never is routed to anyone that can do a thing
What is going on with ADT? They used to be a trusted company but now it is like, deny and avoid dealing with the customer who pays their account every month.
Anyone have an answer? Any have the corporate numbers to reach the clowns in charge,? Post them and then let's all ask the clown when this circus is going to perform.
Steer clear of ADT
My experience with this company has been awful. Their systems consistently failed prompting paid at home repair. Then they yelled at me (seriously - the guy went ballistic) during a customer care call at which time I decided to cancel my account. Instead they are holding me hostage in a 3-yr contract I specifically said I didn’t want. Or I can pay them even more $$ (over $1K) to get out of it. My experience of ADT - they are deceitful, unprofessional, dishonest, and unresponsive - unless they can get more $$ out of me. The date I can finally cancel without paying them any more $$ is in my calendar.
Bad bad non existant customer service
Alarm goes off willinilly. 4:00 am middle off the night, called away from family dinner, crack of dawn. Placed several phone calls never got a response. wait time on phone over an hour twice. No luck.
Spare me the commercials on your line while waiting. It is salt on the wound.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! THEY LOCK YOU INTO A PLAN FOR YEARS. IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF MY PLAN, FOR INSTANCE, I OWE $800. THEY'D RATHER COLLECT MONEY FROM UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS THAN PROVIDE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AT AFFORDABLE RATES. CONTRACTS? WHO THE HELL USES CONTRACTS ON ANYTHING THESE DAYS? Absolutely the WORST company to do business with in Austin Texas. Incredibly bad customer service. Equipment does not work as promised. Billing is constantly incorrect. Disputes remain unresolved. Been on the phone again today for 2 hours--5 people --no resolution
Company has sold out to marketing hypers; used to be a quality product, but no more
Had ADT for 8 years in Chicago -- they were at the 4.5 level; stopped using them in 2017 because I moved. Moved to Indiana this summer in 2022, and all I can say is, they sold out and totally commercialized themselves, and have become WAY more about the monthly fee (their annuity cash-flow stream) and add-on features through, as ever, their tiresome phone app, than actual service or keeping the client safe. It's IMPOSSIBLE to get a live person on the phone for service, installation questions or issues without a 30+ minute hold, while, in a guaranteed-to-drive-you-nuts move, their moronic marketing department forces you to listen to the even more moronic Property Brothers from HGTV fame (who aren't even American, give me a break) yammer on and on and on about how great ADT is -- sure it is -- for THEM. They're getting PAID to hype the brand. I, on the other hand, am NOT getting paid to LISTEN to their trite drivel, and would rather have muzak or the old 15-seconds phone beeps, than the verbal diarrhea of the property twins, every time I have to call. They also texted me about 6 or 7 times to reconfirm, yet again, their darned appointment (worse than the dentist), and brought the wrong equipment. I had hugely stressed to the sales person that I did NOT, DID NOT want a door keypad that connected to the internet in any way, including via their phone app (per my brother in law enforcement), so of course, that's exactly what they brought. Turns out, they don't sell a true, plain ol' door keypad that doesn't have a "smart" (as if) chip in it -- could have saved me massive aggravation, text-responding, and time, if they'd just been honest upfront. Their quality had sunk to about 1.5 stars, and when the contract is up, I will NOT be renewing.
Starting this past June
Starting this past June, our security system started going up and down. As of September, it is just down! We have made appointments to get it repaired, but, without our knowledge, time frames were changed, or the appointment was changed to a virtual one. In any case, they kept missing appointments BUT they kept trying to charge us. When a technician did arrive, he informed us we were in a "dead zone". As ADT has not provided service for 3 months, we had an attorney write a letter requesting cancellation of our contract without penalty. The legal department has had this letter for over a month without contacting us. However, every month we receive a bill for services rendered, when we have NO SERVICE! To anyone reading this do not contract with ADT as all they care about is that you keep paying them, even when you are not getting the service that they are contracted to provide.

Every time the alarm doesn’t work you have to call them waiting for at least 30 minutes and then someone on the on the other side off the line simply tells you an engineer will call you in about four hours.
Alarms on ADT they have falls at least once every two weeks so basically you have to waste four hours because of a stupid system they have please please do not have Adt in your house is it going to cost your time money and so on. This is the worst company ever.
ADT Products and Poor CS
I have used ADT for years. I can no longer give them a favorable rating. The real disappointment came after upgrading my system, paying a fortune for the equipment and then being charged service fees to make repairs on that equipment and so the equipment will function. The ADT video camera they sold to me was installed in the same location as the previous, very narrow space. It is larger in size than the previous doorbell and has two clips on the side of the unit on the brick side of my house. It is impossible to get my fingers between the brick and doorbell to remove the face. The face must be removed to reset it, which turns out to be often. They apparently use a tool to pop it off. I and a neighbor cannot get it off. I used a screwdriver and cannot remove it. To ADT’s advantage, my disadvantage, they charge to come out to reset it to change wi-fi name and password, plus it must be removed for other various reasons. It has now cost me over $400.00 for the doorbell and their fees! I am now researching the best security companies and suggest you may want to reconsider using ADT for your security needs. There are other options that do not charge fees for multiple visits for the same product. That doorbell should have never been installed in my application. I, as the homeowner, cannot use their equipment. It is their responsibility to inform customers of problems with their equipment or use another product that will work in each application. Also, they now have very long wait times to get technical assistance and CS is terrible. I can no longer afford to use ADT!

Worst company ever! For the 2 years of having this company the cameras and recording absolutely never worked properly, never had any recordings ever and didn't feel safe when out on trips. To many issues and highway robbery !!! To many issues with the company and no respect twords customers ! Seriously don't recommend this company at all. If I could I would rate them -10 .

ADT provides the worst customer service. The IM agent Tim refuses to assist and the wait time to speak to an incompetent rep (I have a long history of issues with ADT devices and the poor customer service and incompetent reps) is 30 minutes or longer!!!!!! ADT is the worst. I am regretful I used them for my system. I am now and have been stuck with very frustrating technical issues with devices but incredibly poor customer service which is time consuming and very frustrating. ADT does not care at all about their customers!!!

I rated a 1 because there was not a 0 or negative number. This company refused to help my senior citizen mother set up her security system at her new rental house. They mailed her a self install kit with 100 pieces with zero help and refused to help her set up. She offered to pay to have someone come out and help but they told her to go away and pay them a 3 year contract. She is renting a house for 1 year. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!! Absolutely incredible how awful they are.

If zero stars was an option, ADT would have earned it. This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I cancelled my account 2 months ago and they continued to charge my credit card for the next 2 months. When I called to inquire, of course they have no record of my cancellation. I tell them I will pay the past 2 months, but want to cancel my account immediately. Over an hour on the phone, transferred 7 times to different representatives, then they disconnected the call. They will do absolutely everything to prevent you from cancelling their service.
I also want to point out that last year a tech service rep came out to service our system, found an issue, said he would return next week and he never returned to fix it. So we have been paying for a faulty system for the past year and they still are refusing to cancel my service.
DO NOT EVER sign up for a security system with ADT.

WORST DECISION EVER TO GO WITH ADT. I bought an 800 dollar system. It was 31 days old when I left the property for the weekend and the cams did not work as they should.
The worst part is the customer service. I have 4 hours of call time with still no resolution. I have spoken with 8 reps who have all said that the previous rep "DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT." I had a rep tell me ' DONT WORRY IF YOU CAMS DONT WORK, YOU STILL HAVE ADT AND WE WILL KNOW IF YOUR HOUSE IS BROKEN INTO"
Ah, thats why I have cams with audio so it doesnt go that far.
This is an 800 dollar system with 67 dollars a month fee that does not work after 30 days. Its a new 10,000 dollar contract.

I just recently had a DT come out and install a system into my house it was the worst experience I had the guy came a new home remind you punch two holes in the wall told me that I could cancel at any time did not leave a yard sign when nothing in front of my house when I first talked to the sales guy he said I need it eight sensors to go on my window the installation guy came in wanted to upcharge me for five more sensors so now I have sensors in my front window that has two windows but one on only on one window they never came back to fix the hole in the wall I called to try to cancel and they told me it would cost me $1,100 to cancel remind they never fixed my hole in the wall at my new house I don't I don't know what company could get away with this type of service that they tried to provide ADT is a Bad Company

I have the worst experience with ADT. I have a contract with ADT from 2019, when the technician firstly came to install the equipment and asked me to sign the contract, he told me that I can cancel the service anytime without paying anything. After 9 months, we need to move to another house, I thought the contract was continued but no, they made a new 3-year contract again, if I would like to cancel, I need to pay 75% of the contract. Now, it's time for me to cancel the contract because I had to pay thousands unuse service fees because I moved to another place. I called ADT and they kept transferred me to another agents and the waiting time is around 1 hour per agent. That's so terrible!!!!

The worst customer service of any company I've had any experience with. Of the 2 year contract period it only worked correctly a few months. Called customer service multiple times and after waiting extended periods had to be walked through the same routines. Once a technician actually came out and got it working for a short time. I finally gave up on the system but continued the payments required then spent another almost two hours just to cancel the subscription with an extremely pushy and rude customer service. I'm unhappy enough that I will no longer watch Property Brothers as long as they are associated.

I have had the worst experience with ADT in my new home. It has taken them 3 technicians and my issues are still not resolved. The App ADT control is terrible. It sends me alerts my garage door is open or a door is unlocked but they are not. They tell you you can open or close with app but more often that not, it doesn’t work. The technician made a hole in my Sheetrock installing my window sensor. The system is very expensive expensive but unreliable. I regret signing a contract with them and will exit as soon as my contract comes up. Don’t use them! My sales rep said he would get me a month free due to my repeat issues and that did not happen. Do NOT use the relocation salesmen. They only care about getting the contract.
Watch your Direct Debits
Watch your Direct Debits. They regularly take an extra 1 or 2 pence extra each month. They say it is rounding, but this is not the case. They must be raking in thousands of pennies from all their customers. It than takes over 40 minutes on hold to speak to someone about the problem.
