If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars, I would. I usually don’t write negatively about companies but ADT is stealing money from me when I called a few weeks ago to cancel my account. I asked the young lady whom I was speaking to, to give me an email confirmation in regards of canceling my service subscription for proof. She said I’ll receive a letter in the mail from ADT in regards to my cancellation but never received a letter. Yet, ADT is still trying to pull money out from my bank account after I canceled my service subscription. I’m going to go to my bank and closed my account if I have to and if they won’t stop trying to pull money out from me.

Subpar Product and Even Worse Service
Vivint Is Easily Superior. ADT has subpar product and even worse customer service (Looking at you Kevin and Randy). Employees unfortunately forced to screw over customers to make the executives money. This is reflected in the quality of service 100%. Please dont waste your time with this company. ViVint is vastly superior. As they care about customer experience. ADT focuses on getting your $$$$

YOU MUST SET OFF AN ACTUAL ALARM TO SEE IF ADT ACTUALLY RESPONDS!
If ADT told you a system "upgrade" was needed in 2021, BEWARE you may be left WITHOUT monitoring and on your own, yet still being charged for service. It's exactly what happened to us. The long range radio that communicates with their central monitoring station was NEVER enabled (AKA *Field 29) during their so called "system upgrade." We kept telling them something was wrong over a 4 year period. They blamed us repeatedly & offered us $150 twice as a way for us to stop calling them. The total damages are so much greater, but they hope you will just go away with that swindle of an offer. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ANYONE WITH ADT, NOT TO TEST THEIR SYSTEM "INTERNALLY" AS THEY RECOMMEND. SET OFF AN ALARM INTENTIONALLY AND SEE IF THEY ACTUALLY CALL YOU. I was alerted to a burglar at 445am & NOONE from ADT EVER called me. This happened twice & is how I learned they were not monitoring our system FOR 4 YEARS! Finally, after many many attempts, the technician told us Field 29, WHICH COMMUNICATES WITH THEIR CENTRAL MONITORING SYSTEM was NEVER enabled during their system upgrade. I've gone to the BBB without results. ADT offered us $400. Again, this does not amount to 4 years of lost charges. I encourage all of you who have been swindled by ADT to take REAL action against their egregious swindle as they boast record recurring revenue and cash flow. Continue to fight these deceptive business practices - take them to small claims court. File a dispute with your credit card company about the swindle and try to get your money back by these avenues. File with the BBB and the attorney general for your state. With enough of these complaints, they will be investigated for deceptive business practices. All of this after being loyal customers since 2011.

Extremely Deceptive Sales Practices – Beware of ADT I had a terrible experience with ADT and their sales representatives. The agent, Tyler Reeves, was extremely sale aggressive (calling me 3-4 a day over a week to push the sale of the CCTV) and intentionally misled me into purchasing CCTV cameras, even though he knew they had poor quality and grainy night vision (even with light). After realizing this, I tried to contact him, but he refused to respond—clearly avoiding me until the 3-day cancellation window had passed. During the process of Tyler’s sale efforts, the local manager, Maria McCallanan in Augusta, GA, was equally deceptive in her wording and chose to defend Tyler rather than provide any real assistance. As of August 15, neither Tyler nor Maria has responded to my email or texts regarding the concerns. DO NOT TRUST ADT

ADT executive in charge of customer care said he didn’t give a four letter word about how bad ADT customer care was. FACT.
The ADT executive responsible for their customer care was asked causally at a FL bar why the customer service was so awful and he literally laughed and indicated because they really didn’t give a four letter word. Literally, wow! Think about that before paying for their product.

Absolutely TERRIBLE - STAY AWAY
had a faulty sensor, they sent a new one that wasn't even compatible with my system...a tech on line attempted to install the sensor, no luck, sent it back and now have a non-working door sensor. I called and cancelled everything other than life safety and then yesterday received notification of my bill and it went up! Less service for more $$$??? Seriously??? would leave a -0- star rating if I could....... and now a followup...i just received an email telling me my total amount due and it is higher than it was yesterday. I called customer service again and was told there were no notes as to the rate I was promised!!!!! WHAT!!!! This was my sixth phone call to them to try to fix this. perhaps they should try using a call center in the USA instead of india and one more followup and that will be all...seems ADT would have been a little more helpful to a long time customer...was switched to ADT when they bought Protection One in 2016...and this is what I get

I e been told different stories by several even tricked me into leaving a fair feedback I moved and had to transfer service but owned before now 30 miles away AndADT claims I have two accounts this will go to federal trade commission and bbb and all who can give them a bad mark stay away from this corporate it’s a scam you can’t get out even if you pay off ! They lie your Transfered to five different departments on phone minimum of 2-3 hrs when you call one tells one thing other tells another -1 feedback only a could good ones I’ve want to pay off after I was told my a accounts closed and owe nothing under hardship which I am I moved sold house rental don’t allow cams and then bbb sent my complaint after being told I’m ok and alls closed then get call and they only closed the new location the old location is still due its all a lie its not right I never signed for a second contract and I was told again I only have one account I only changed address to be near drs this is more corrupt then watergate or the worse nightmare you ever had! If you see a feedback by me disregard on ADts site any other feedback then this one t y Albert and Daone more in accounts mgt then I get called and one lady from ADT due to change of address it’s a new account! I’d never of done hbband total story changes Its so. Ad of scam they took a credit card and had no ok or approval illegally and are using it as a monthly payment card it’s my wife’s not mine I’m told it’s fine! No it’s not she don’t want it nor wants if you see ADT turn and run fast as u can! It’s corupt villas your on phone get transferred to different departments and not once but 3-10 it’s like ring around the rosey . I told them if they’re amicable and tell truth i They misled 100% and tricked me. They’re double charging using unauthorized credit card and double taking out! I’m so unsatisfiedd card and with no permission they have no right to use payment method and I’m so worried others will join in ADT ! Do NOT do business with a scam outfit! I have no question the r! Bass security insupposed to be null n void what a mess and terrible corporation no accounts yet taking out for service this is our future or grandkids yet no way to get rid of service I’m told well wtf is it a business or scam?? than an uncertain bunch of lies and only day there honest is workday no what account being closed is on pc and under my account the account is closed there’s not two accounts it’s o e and supposed to be closed but they’ll call back like nothing happened and is not a good anything so only advice needed is close down ADT a no bs

Worst Customer Service
I was a client of ADT for over 12 years. I was having a problem with the home phone line connecting for the last year of service so when the alarm went off no one would ever call, and no one would show up. After several failed attempts to correct the situation, I went to cancel my service. At this time, they offered a free equipment upgrade to monitor from a cell service. I agreed. The day of install (after taking a day off for the 4-hour window) they did not have the proper equipment because the notes in the system were incorrect. They then wanted $100 to install what they had said would be no charge. I cancelled service and they continued to bill me. I called on 7/31/25 and was told by a rep that my balance was removed and I owed no more money. Three weeks later I receive a past due bill. The customer service center after saying they couldn't find the notes (which was a lie because when I told them the name of the rep and time, they magically found it) then said they could not take the payment off. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and he blamed the rep for giving me false information. I then asked to speak with someone higher up and they refused. He said I have the right not to pay it, and I replied, "so then you can send me to collections". He just kind of laughed and said "yes". I would never recommend using this company. This was by far the worst experience with any company I have ever dealt with.

New system installer completely untrustworthy
Was quoted for a new install one number on the phone, then installer quotes me 6x the number to do the install. I let him do it and he does not finish it, misses one window, installs wrong sensors on garage doors that then breaks and forget two to bring two thermostats on original order. Lied to me and told me it was required to install 5 smoke detectors. Says he will come back in a few days to finish it. Never does. Different rep come out to install State Farm water sensors and says he CAN NOT finish the original install and that the install rep grossly overcharged me for what he did. I submitted to a phone rep for a full refund (after being transferred SIX times, and she gave me a case number and claims I will receive refund in 7-10 days. If I don't I will be submitting a credit card chargeback and submitting to BBB and state attorneys office. ADT is an undependable, untrustworthy company with terrible customer service reps. I would urge ANYONE to NOT do business with them.

ADT is the worst company I ever…
ADT is the worst company I ever experienced had them for less than a year and the service sucks the worst service I ever experienced they use subcontractors so when you trying to solve a problem, they transfer your phone to phone to phone. That’s not customer service I would never refer them to my military friends or my friends. The worst company I ever dealt with in 60 years.

Misleading Sales Tactics and Outrageous Fees This is based on my personal experience with ADT. 1. The installation technician told me that the ADT Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detector (priced at $920) were “mandatory by law.” In my understanding, while Texas requires detectors, it does not require customers to purchase ADT’s equipment. I felt this statement was misleading. 2. I was told verbally that if I returned to my home country before the end of the 60-month contract, I would only need to pay for the equipment cost and could cancel monitoring without penalty. However, when I reviewed the written contract, it clearly states that I must pay 75% of the total remaining monthly service charges. In my view, this was a major contradiction and left me feeling misled. 3. I was charged a “Professional Installation Fee” of $2,360.00. From what I know, typical installation fees in the industry are usually under $200. To me, this amount seemed extremely excessive and unreasonable. In my opinion, ADT’s sales process felt deceptive and untrustworthy. Thank goodness I noticed these problems on the very same day I signed. I have already requested cancellation — pray for me that I actually get a full refund without any extra charges.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ADT
First of all, the system is not working more than working. This has been going on for years. I need to get a new system. They only allow 1 yard sign on the AI assisted call now, which is bull, and 2 total if you complain. Signs break within a couple of months. They are now fielding calls overseas, and they make even older customers do their own repairs with assistance on the phone. FIND AN ALTERNATIVE. I AM GOING TO DO THE SAME. Have been a customer over a decade and they do not treat military customers with care.

Misleading telemarketer for ADT
Problem started with call center in India. They asked if I wanted a home security analysis by ADT. I said yes. They had me sign a document. Unknown to me it was a five year contract with nearly $2000 of early termination fees. I didn't find out it was a five year contract until the tech was leaving. He said I three business day to cancel. I called the next business day to cancel. He didn't know the three days started the moment I signed the document, before any installation. It was deliberately misleading.

Been a customer for over 3 years and…
Been a customer for over 3 years and sold house and relocated. Told I had a $400+ buyout that was buried in 2 point font somewhere in the original contract that salesperson said had no buyout. Had to purchase a minimal contract to avoid buyout and contacted the relocation service on 01 July and now, 16 August they are still showing me at the old residence. 3 hours on hold today, four different transfers. Third time I have called since move. Beware. 20 August 2025 - Tech showed up for install. They were competent, efficient and polite. Helped me get a $10.00 per month reduction. Install experience excellent.

ADT has ben owned by Apollo Global Management LLC, a venture capital parasite. IF you want to know WHY their service, equipment, and commitment all suck, look no further. Venture capital venues exist to bleed their acquireds dry and NO OTHER REASON. Name me ONE venture capital acquisition success story! You can not? Well there is a reason for that. Eventually there will be a class action suit against these thieves.

3 CO sensors, Main control panel, Garage door sensor.
I had three CO sensors start beeping within a week of the first one. Turns out, it wasn’t the battery, but the sensors themselves. After purchasing new (expensive) batteries, I discovered that the sensors themselves had an end-of-life of 5 years. Replacement is the user’s expense. All hardware is the user’s expense for maintenance and replacement. ADT is merely a monitoring company. When we went to the control panel, it was completely dead. Again, after calling, we were told it would need to be replaced. Finally, the garage door sensor is broken because it kept falling off the garage door. So, my feelings about ADT are this: they put in the cheapest equipment possible, and when it fails, it’s the user’s expense. When they tell you they will follow up, they don’t. I have had three promised followup calls promised and none happened. The customer support people try to dump you as quickly as possible by sending you to someone else or telling you to be patient as it takes 24-48 hours for a followup. When I purchased the house, ADT had their equipment installed, but the previous owner didn't maintain the contract. My insurance required having the service. When ADT came out, the current equipment was considerd obsolete. So they left the old detectors on the ceiling and in some cases, removed items but left the wirers hanging out of the wall. I don't know if any of the other services are any better but I don't see how they could be much worse. I see many of the previous post requests have responces to contact ADT. I didn't see if any of them were ever resolved. I would recommend being very careful of what they will do and how they promise to support the equipment. I am sure their lack of keeping the system running is in the fine print of their signed agreements but they are expensive and even more so, when you bear the burden of being nickeled and dimed for ever little item. If I could give -* i would. I have had nothing but problems within a month of my contract. I contacted them saying i wanted to cancel. well the want you to pay 75% of your contract (3 years). they have been out 4 times now.. i have talked to so many people.. my front door alarm isnt working properly, a tech came out to day and asked me whats the problem? i explained it like 5 times.. he yelled at my daughter, then continued to talk to me like i was stupid!! I told him to get out of my house! he again looked at me like i was stupid! i said get your stuff and get out of my house!! he said well your going to be charged with 30 minutes of service! I said GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!! I have never had someone treat me like that let alone in my own home!! DONT GET ADT.

I’m so disappointed with this company
I’m so disappointed with this company, please I need help if anyone can help me with this , this company gave me a 3 years contract and their cameras stop working after 2 months, I keep calling their customer service and they keep asking me to pay for the technician to come, I asked them to cancel the service they said no I have to pay the : years contract, and did , the contract expired but it been more than a year that they keep getting my money, they said that I have to start paying them monthly now that the contract expires, I said why do I have to pay for the service that I don’t have ? Until today ADT is taking my money, I don’t know where to go fight this people. Please if anyone can help

When it works it is OK. When there is a problem it is a total disaster. "Customer Service is anything but. Resolving problems by phone requires a tech degree. I have now determined it is on purpose in order to send a ridiculously expensive tech out to take five minutes and charge you hundred of dollars.

ADT falsely renewed a contract and continued charging us monthly for a year despite us cancelling and calling back to confirm. I have been on a call for over 3 hours, transferred 10 times having to tell the story over and over. They will renew and charge without you knowing. I was a customer for over 17 years and the tenants in our property have it. I am going to support them changing given the absurd process I had to go through to get the money that is due to me. I will not recommend ADT to anyone ever again. I feel that because it was a substantial amount of money that was due, they tried every instance to punt it to another representative. It also seems to be their tactic to wear you down with transfers. They tried to say they would refund 5 months when clearly it was 12 months of charges. Bottom line: make sure you only have one active contract with them and make sure you've signed it, and do not sign up for autopay. Sadly, I am still on the call with them 3 hours and 29 minutes, waiting to be transferred again.

ADT is a rapacious company. Figures, it is owned by private equity - APOLLO. I've been with them for 6 years. I cancelled my service because of their 0-star customer service. The worst I've encountered in my 66 years, truly.
