Scam
After contacting per the message below. STEVEN C. THE SOCIAL MEDIA PERSON continues to lie and deny fixing the issue. Now hes making threats of withdrawing the full amount if i cancel even though their equipment never worked and i paid for services for 6 months even though it did not work. Scam. Equipment is broken or non functional. Had their technician no show for several appointments to fix the issue. Have spent 100 + hours calling and trying to get my system fixed. Sheila and Roselynn account managers were extremely unprofessional, rude, and tried to charge me 4 thousand plus for their non functional equipment. When I asked to speak to anyone else who actually wanted to help a paying customer resolve the issues i was told that they were the manager, no one else could help, and thats the way it is. Do NOT use ADT... so many better options that provide help and care for their customers.
SCAM! Thats why they got 1 star avarage
I ordered the service from ADT site and I was told that I do not need to pay for installation,. ask tech ask me pay $1100 and negotited price is $299. This is not correct and , I use ADT for my 2 other businesses and home and for sure I will cancel my services.
Traumatizing Experience - ADT Is a Disgrace
I wish I could give ADT 0 stars. This company has caused my family nothing but trauma, fear, and absolute frustration.
The nightmare started when our alarm went off in the middle of the night, blaring through the house and terrifying everyone inside, including my young children. The police were sent to my home, only to find that it was a false alarm—caused by a sensor that had fallen off the wall.
When I called ADT the next morning, their “solution” was to re-stick the sensor using Command Strips. Seriously. That’s what they told me to do for a supposedly high-end security system—use arts-and-crafts supplies to hold it together.
Fast forward a couple of weeks, and it happened again. Another false alarm, this time claiming a window had been opened. The sirens blared, the police showed up again, and once again, we were left shaken and exhausted for no reason. The sensor had not even fallen off the window, just an unexplainable error in their system.
At this point, I called ADT demanding a full refund. This system had done nothing but scare my family, disturb our peace, and waste police resources. The representative told me she was a “manager,” but couldn’t issue a refund because I was outside of the refund window, which is apparently just three days after purchase. THREE DAYS. For a system that’s supposed to protect your family for years.
To make matters worse, her only offer was to send a technician out—in a week. No urgency. No escalation. She also refused to transfer me to anyone higher, claiming to be the manager and insisted there was no one above her to speak with. Yet, she didn't even have the authority to arrange a product removal or issue a refund. Completely unhelpful.
I am in complete despair over this experience. ADT is a disgrace to the idea of home security, and I would never recommend them to anyone.
If you’re considering ADT—don’t do it. You’re better off with a dog and a Ring camera than trusting your family’s safety to this company.
Given a 25% discount when I signed up
Given a 25% discount when I signed up. When installed the discount was removed because they said I added cameras. Installer couldn’t put the cameras up during the installation due to rain. Set up an appointment, never showed, now 2 hrs late for the second appointment. I have no trust in sales or service from this company. Use someone else
I have never in my life worked with a…
I have never in my life worked with a company that was so unprofessional. I canceled my account in February and yet they continue to bill me and pull payments without my authorization. I tried to call again - I was put on hold for over an hour and a half just to be hung up on - They are supposed to be in the customer service industry - in my opinion they just need to close their doors!
I would never recommend this company to…
I would never recommend this company to anyone. My doorbell will not work and I have tried to trouble shoot it with ADT for months. I'm under warranty so they finally had to send someone out, since they won't just send a new doorbell. They told me I would NOT be charged for this but when he got here he said I had to pay $59 to come out and $150 for him to fix it. Absolutely ridiculous.

Should have done better rearch
The ADT system works fine for alarms, I suppose. But, when ANYTHING goes wrong, needs to be reset, adjusted, etc., it costs $60 for the repairman to show, then $150 for every 30 minutes of work!!!!!!
We had just moved to a new neighborhood and we wanted a home security system because we are both seniors. Since we didn't know anything about them, we went with the name. BIG mistake! There are systems out there that provide the same level of security without exorbitant fees or such a lengthy contract. (I think I understand now why they do that.) I wish I had done more research and not been sucked in by the brand name.
I had a relative pass away a few months…
I had a relative pass away a few months ago. Since I was the trustee, it was my responsibility to notify her accounts that she had passed away, which I did within a week of her death. I was told the matter was taken care of. Instead, I got an "overdue" bill today which it took 45 minutes on the phone to try to make their outsourced reps (there were at least 3 I spoke to) understand. Apparently they had never had a customer pass away before, because they were absolutely baffled on how to handle this. The call culminated with the rep stating "We can't find her obituary". Obituary? WTH? Many, many people pass away without an online obituary being published. I am 78 so believe me, I've looked for obituaries for friends and relatives before. I am now waiting on a "review" to determine if I owe them money for my dead relative who passed away in June. Needless to say, I will never use ADT myself and inform as many people as I can to do the same. What a train wreck.
Awful company with very shady business…
Awful company with very shady business practices. Now I'm stuck with them and idk how to terminate this contract. I am speechless
Unreliable Home Security
My home was broken into as I was sleeping and the adt agent had the nerve to ask me if I wanted him to call the police. Isn’t that your job. ADT going into my banking account taken unauthorized money, ADT even forged my signature on another ADT contract. ADT is not to be trusted
Total Rip Off Artists!!
I was a customer for 3.5 years with no issues. I decided to cancel the contract when I moved. What a NIGHTMARE. It took an hour on the phone and 3 different agents. They wouldn’t take NO for an answer. Then they told me they needed 30 days to cancel because they had to “notify my local police, fire and ems. That’s a total load of crap and outright LIE. Then they had the audacity to call me not once but TWICE the next day to offer me a “move package”
I told them NEVER AGAIN!! Someone really needs to file a class action suit against them.
Don't use ADT. They are scammers.
When I signed up for adt services, I was a senior citizen in an unsafe living situation. I was taken advantage. During this dispute I have made it clear that I want them to waive any termination fees and reverse/ remove any charges that I have not already paid, and. asked them not to report this account to the credit bureau while we are in a dispute. None of this has been done. I have actually paid them 3 months where I didn't receive services. and I'm not asking for a refund. I was told the adt would monitor the two Google cameras that I purchased. They do not monitor Google cameras. The cameras broke in less than 24 hours after installation. I continued to have problems. I no longer live in the usa. I was told that I would not have to continue my adt service contract with no cancellation penalty if moved to an area where at does not offer service. So they are billing me monthly without ever doing any monitoring services. Customer Service is not trying to resolve issues Instead of assisting me, they are trying to sell me discounted services, and transferring me between departments with long hold times. I sent a dispute letter to their address. I was told it was received now they deny receiving a letter. I have called customer service more than 35 times.
We were sold a $9000 plus system that…
We were sold a $9000 plus system that work about a month and when we switched internet provider all seven of our camera's failed. When we called ADT they indicated that we had to pay $99 for one of their technicians to come out and look at the problem. Then is cost us another $350 to reprogram the system. He said the system should have quit when we switched internet providers. He also took the time to show us how the system works. Something that should have been done when it was set up. After nine months all of our motion switch batteries are dead and the Technician during his call showed us how to change them. None of this was explained to us during the installation. In addition to the $9000 plus installation you get no warrantee work and you are locked into a three year contract that cost $143 per month. ADT is totally not worth the expense and their customer service sucks. Do not ever let them talk you into their service.
They are a bunch of scam artist that…
They are a bunch of scam artist that get very nasty when you cancel a contract don’t answer any questions that you ask them I don’t know what they’re doing beware run
Less than 1 star
Less than 1 star. They will charge you out the rear for every little thing. Constant false alarms causing EMS to come to my home on several occasions. The fire alarm was faulty and they still insist on charging me to repair THEIR faulty equipment. Poor customer service. Cant even call them without they try to sell you something. Even when I cancled the associate kept trying to sell me service. When the cameras were installed the associate put fist size holes in my drywall and just left it. Never felt safe to set my alarm over 3 years because of the constant issues I had with them. After my contract ended and i called to cancel i got a bill for the next month. I guess a contract with a set term means they can just keep charging after cancelation. 100% would NOT recommend to anyone. Awful company, terrible support, you won't feel safe in your own home. Get a $5 Blink subscription and it will provide better comfort
My experience with ADT has been nothing…
My experience with ADT has been nothing short of a nightmare. They lure customers into signing contracts without clearly explaining the terms, then make it nearly impossible to cancel their services. Once you're locked in, you're stuck.
After I paid off my account in full, I requested to have their equipment removed and services canceled. I was promised a technician would come between July 1st and 14th. Today is July 17th – no one showed up, and the equipment is still here. Their support is completely useless – rude agents, no accountability, and absolutely no follow-through on anything they promise.
It’s shocking how a national company like this can operate with such disregard for customers. They delay, ignore, and deflect, leaving you frustrated and powerless. This feels more like a scam than a legitimate service provider.
Do yourself a favor – never sign up with ADT. There are far better, more honest home security companies out there.
ADT is terrible
Do not under any circumstance utilize ADT alarm systems. Before marriage, my wife and I had separate home utilizing ADT (House A & B). When we got married, we sold house B.
In the process of attempting to cancel service on House B, ADT cancelled House A instead. When we noticed the error, we contacted ADT to have it rectified only to be told that there was no possible way to reactivate House A's alarm system that was fully functioning 1 day prior, because the techs didn't know how to reactivate it. This was a system that had pre-wired door sensors in the door jam. ADT forced us to do a complete re-install on House A, bypassing the pre-wired sensors and installing ugly door sensors.
Cut to 2.5 years later, my wife and I purchased a new home a year ago and installed a new ADT system at that home (House C) but kept House A's system activated for 1 year while the house was on the market and empty.
In attempting to cancel House A that is now under contract to be sold, ADT is telling me I must pay $350.00 to cancel the contract. Turns out, when they canceled the wrong house, they placed us in a new contract on a house that had been covered by them for 7 years prior instead of honoring our existing system.
In trying to deal with customer service, the attitude is a real "Screw you, it is what it is, and you will pay it". I was even told "well I was not the one that initially made the mistake or the tech" so you will receive a bill for $350.00).
In asking to escalate to a manager, the approach is to state there are no managers available on Thursday at 10:00 am and that they will send me a bill and request a call back that MAY happen within 48 hours.
They also utilize extortion tactics as I was told they would waive the $350 fee if I got the new homeowner to utilize their service.
This is a terrible way of handling business with any customer, let alone one that has covered 3 homes over the course of 15 years.
Horrible customer service
I must say after speaking with 2 people from ADT yesterday I have no faith that you will "resolve" my issue.
On July 5, I was in my new business surrounded by movers, painters, vendors, handyman, and your installer to switch ownership of the alarm system. I showed him to the IT closet with instructions to "connect the system". When he finished amidst my chaos, he found me and presented the paper for me to sign saying all was "set". I signed and thanked him, never thinking I should have read it first (admittedly my fault to trust your company). 9 days later after requesting another technician appointment to help delete and add access codes (all the 30 previous ones were left from the original owner because I learned I could not do any of it from my office using phone or laptop (I was set up with Pulse ADT app, which is clearly not able to do what I need). You see, I live 90 minutes from this location and do not typically visit more than a couple of times per year for each business. I should have been told there was a better version of the app and panel. Speaking with customer service is when I learned the "window" for the tech to arrive was 9-5-seriously? So I would need to leave my home at 7:30am and potentially wait for him or her until 5pm, this is ridiculous.
I contacted a local, more accommodating company who has given me a 30 minute window for their tech to arrive later this week. After making that appointment, I called to cancel ADT service only to learn I had signed a 3 YEAR CONTRACT?!! I was NEVER told that. Then I learned that I could cancel with a 1500.00+ cancellation fee (I expected to have to pay something for the technician's time but 1500.00+?) which I'm sure bullies most into keeping your service, but fortunately I have enough money to preserve my principles and pay the fee to not have to work with such an ungrateful, unscrupulous company. So, suffice to say, I cancelled (incurring the outrageous fee) and also my home account, have posted my negative review on every platform available and will continue to do so at least monthly until I DIE. You see, I have been in the service business for 40 years this November and I teach good service nationally and am fortunate enough to have a social media department who will schedule these posts on my behalf. I doubt any of this is news to whomever is reading my rant since I have now learned you have thousands of reviews that average 1.9!! OMG, how are you in business? I teach my audiences that anything under 4.8 means it's time to shut down, get under the hood to fix the problems, push the reset button (analyze all policies and train, train, train) before reopening. But, clearly feedback means nothing to your unethical, uncaring company.
Sincere about "resolving my issue"? Charge a reasonable cancellation fee to cover expenses for the couple of hours time the tech spent during the install and rescind my 1500.00+ fee and I will retract my negative reviews and actually use this story as a teaching tool about how ethical companies react to feedback.
I would never recommend ADT
I would never recommend ADT. This is not a good company to do business. Their equipment doesn’t work. Be sure the install tech tests your system before they leave. And not just by seeing if everything is connected to the base. Open every window. Check every motion detector. Check every glass break with their sound device.
Their service is also leaves lots of room for improvement. The tech came 2.5 hours past the 4-hour window.
BAIT AND SWITCH
They quoted me on the phone as a former long time customer to re start my alarm system over the phone for $30/month for the service. The tech arrived and expected us to pay $2800 plus $60 per month. This was the WORST BAIT AND SWITCH I have ever experienced. These clowns are total scammers in my opinion….;what is the old saying? BUYER BEWARE
Its a trap. Do not fall for it
In one word, it is a trap. Do not fall for this. After I reactivated my existing system, I realized after 4 days that this system is useless. And when I called the ADT customer care, they asked me to pay 2-year contract fees if I want to terminate the contract. They misguide you at the beginning until you were signing the contract. Best way to make people fall is not giving the correct information which each user should be aware of. They will not even talk about 3 days period from the time you signed. I have switched off the system because just junk. Open door, Close door. Arm/Disarm. This is what I can see on my app. Self monitoring apps are better than those useless customer care and 5-6 supporting centers ADT talks about. ADT is far behind the current generation. And today, the company is still charging me for the service which I have shut down on day 4th of reactivation. This is still cheaper than adding new cameras and video devices and sensor which were missing via ADT. ADT traps you to sign the contract first. So, my request, you do anything you want. But do not sign their contract. I don't know about robbers entering your home and stealing anything, but ADT already starts stealing your little money once you sign the contract. Outsiders can be still tolerated. But be extra careful about such Insider (ADT). I think those thieves and robbers feel pity for those homes who have put ADT sign outside. They must be thinking "Those homeowners are already looted by ADT. So just forget, move to next". ADT has no shame to continue to charge for something which is not up and running.
I wish I came to this site before…
I wish I came to this site before spending $18,000 on something that doesn't work.
Unreliable
Completely Unprofessional. ADT Wasted My Time
I scheduled an installation with ADT two weeks ago and made it absolutely clear to the sales rep that I live in Mesquite, Nevada, but work in Las Vegas, and could only accommodate a technician on Friday, and only at the latest possible arrival time. I was told this would be no issue. I even prequalified for their financing to be fully prepared for installation.
Fast forward to this morning at 8:00 AM, I get a call trying to coordinate a visit for the morning. At that point, I was already in Las Vegas for work (just like I said I would be) and had also uninstalled my previous security system to prepare for today. When I told them I couldn't do a morning appointment, I was then informed the technician would arrive exactly at 1:00 PM. No flexibility, no discussion, and no regard for the very clear parameters I set two weeks ago.
They said the tech is driving from Las Vegas and “it’s a two hour drive.” Well, so what? I drive two hours every day to work too. I don’t make that anyone else’s problem. That’s the job. It’s not my responsibility to accommodate their logistics when I did everything right on my end and communicated everything upfront.
This whole experience felt like they just wanted to throw someone on the schedule without actually listening or planning around what was agreed upon. It wasn’t about making the appointment work for me. It was about fitting it into their employee’s convenience.
Because of this ridiculous handling and lack of respect for my time, I am absolutely not moving forward with ADT. I’m glad I didn’t. After reading all the reviews here, I see how many people have had bad experiences, and I’m thankful I didn’t sign a contract. What a waste of time. What a blessing in disguise.
DO NOT GET ADT SECURITY
DO NOT GET ADT SECURITY! TODAY JULY 9th 2025.... I am so unhappy with ADT, I got them last month the women on the phone said I could set up password if I got the system after tec set the doors and garage he left 1st time goes off adt calls they asked for password there was none so police was not sent. I call trying to fix this the system would not let me through email she did not know why. She said to call back later try again. In between that My garage has been broke into bunches of times by my friend next door her daughter, she is on drugs and using needles leaving them behind I have 2 children Im trying to protect. This girl has broken my garage door and replaced the lock. She tried to take rights over my garage. This is why I got service from ADT, but she beat there sensors somehow after the 1st time setting it off. she was out there over a week ago taking water out my pool and a washcloth and bathing in my garage this is while ADT was armed, a few days ago she came to my home just to let me know she had been in my garage 1st thing I sayyou was just out there why did my alarm not go off she walks straight into the door which was no longer locked and grabbed the sensor it then goes off and hands it to me. I think she was rubbing it in my face after I went into the garage there was no doubt she had been in there the garage entry door was bent upward and a roller was missing on the right side I had to call police and make a report when I called adt yesterday they were sorry and to make up for it, they gave me 2 free google cameras and a tec to come out for free they were going to check the system and install the cameras today a tall almost bald guy shows up said the women probably said that to shut me up there was no camera being installed then I asked am I being charged he said yes but credit of fifty some dollars was being credit to the account, I believe this was on purpose I was doing away yesterday was last day 30 days until that great offer today I just went ahead started the canceled my cards and blocked ADT from all future payments. I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE. Also sometime between that my alarm would not let me set it and leave customer service was on the phone with me alarm was going off she said it was supposed to do that then she said I had the door open yes I set it during count down to exit I open to leave it goes off over and over the door was shut and still sounding she says I had the door open No I did not over an hour on the phone she might as well called me a liar or stupid that is how I felt that I did not know what an open door and shut door consist off.
ADT sucks, stay away!!!!
I have had the worst experience with ADT this year trying to upgrade my alarm system. A salesperson came and gave me a quote, but when the technician arrived, he spent hours installing the new system, which was apparently so new that they had barely been trained on it. After he left, I realized the touchscreen panel never went to sleep and the screensaver would never come on. I made a second appointment and the second technician got it to work, but once he left, it stopped working and the screen never went to sleep again. I called to make a third appointment and the person I spoke to made a virtual appointment instead. I called yet again and explained I needed a technician to come back out because the issue had not been fixed. First, they tried to charge me a fee but then they finally "made the appointment." The day of the appointment the tech never showed up because the appointment had never been made correctly in the system. When I finally got the third appointment set, the technician called to say that he didn't know what else he could do. While all of this was happening, my app stopped working when I was away from the house, so the only way I could set the alarm remotely was if I was in the house. I called and was told they couldn't help me over the phone and that a technician would have to come out. At this point, I was leaving the country in a few days and didn't have the time to keep dealing with ADT. However, I wasn't told that EVERYTHING is now controlled via the app and that even when you call they can't help you over the phone. I set up an additional user, and her code didn't work, and the alarm went off when she went into the house. I had to end up giving her my own code. I am now out of the country for 6 months and I'm completely logged out of the system. I can't even log into the app. I spent almost an entire day on the phone with ADT and they said I have to be in the house in order for them to help me. I explained I needed everything working before I left the country but clearly, no one gave a damn. In addition, I just realized that when they switched me to ADT+, they never canceled/migrated my old account and I've been paying for both services this entire time!!! This is absurd and I can't believe I'd have been better off never upgrading in the first place. All their reps are completely useless and don't know the first thing about this new system they have been pushing on customers. I'm going to cancel as soon as I'm back in the country.
