These people are total scammers
These people are total scammers. I signed up for service Monday07/07/25. I changed my mind and called back 45 mins later to cancel. After spending close to an hour waiting for a rep they finally told me they were able to cancel and I would be refunded in 48 hours. I never received a cancellation confirmation email, the payment cleared my account and now they are telling me they cannot find my information in their system to issue my refund. Now all of a sudden nobody knows how to get this done.
ADT doesn't even deserve a 1 rating
ADT doesn't even deserve a 1 rating. The worse customer service I have ever experienced. No one knows what they are doing, they transfer you from place to place and hang up on you if you ask too many questions. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, NEVER USE ADT AND SAVE YOURSELF ALOT OF PROBLEMS..
their equipment has not worked for…
their equipment has not worked for three years, yet they continued to bill us. We were lied to, they didn't even know what Equipment they installed. I spent all day and spoke to 11 different reps in three departments. The worst company I have ever had the experience of being involved with by far. This review is from an 18 year customer The last three, not by choice. They juggled us from department to department. HORRIBLE!
In response, I will not contact them again ever, it is a ploy to be sucked into their spiderweb of lies. They owe us a prorated sum for services this year that we paid in full. I stand by my review. There is a reason the BBB rates them 1.2 stars out of 4536 reviews. CONSUMERS YOU ARE FORWARNED!
Do not recommend this company
Do not recommend this company. I only chose their services because they were offered at a discounted rate through a partnership with my home builder. Initially, it seemed like a good deal and a convenient option — but the entire experience turned into a frustrating and misleading process.
I spoke with Anthony Skipworth, the salesperson, who quoted me a specific price for the service. I agreed to it, thinking everything was clearly understood. However, when Rodney Rodriguez, the installer, came to my home, the price was completely different — significantly higher than what I had been told.
When I raised the issue, instead of admitting there may have been a mistake or miscommunication, they essentially blamed me. They suggested I had misunderstood the terms discussed by Anthony, which was absolutely not the case. I knew exactly what was offered and agreed upon.
I tried to get in touch with Anthony Skipworth again to clarify, but he completely disappeared — no returned calls, no follow-up, nothing. It felt like I was being set up from the beginning. There was no accountability at all, and I was left feeling misled and ignored.
After a lot of back and forth, and after I told them I was going to cancel everything, they finally agreed to honor the original price. But at that point, the damage was done. I no longer trusted the company or their practices.
The way they operate feels very deceptive — almost like a bait-and-switch tactic. They lure you in with one offer, then try to change the price later and pressure you to go along with it. If you push back, they act like it’s your fault.
This is not how an honest company should operate. I would never use them again and strongly recommend that others look elsewhere. What seems like a deal up front can easily turn into a stressful and borderline scam experience. Stay away from this company.

ADT initially installed Ring cameras at my home. ADT subsequently stopped supporting Ring and partnered with Google Nest. They make it almost impossible to cancel. Long wait time and they try to give you multiple sales pitches. Do not use this company.
Inadequate Customer Service
ADT Wireless Command system was installed in 2023. Keypad needed to be replaced in 2024. Keypad is malfunctioning in July 2025. After several calls to ADT customer service, issue is still unresolved. ADT has inadequate and undertrained customer service representatives and technicians.
Worst experience
Worst experience. Today I spent an hour on the phone trying to cancel our ADT service. The woman I spoke to was super passive aggressive and in spite of telling her I wanted to cancel many times she insisted on offers of lower and lower premiums. She also had a litaney of scare tactics, ie: more home invasions, more burgleries, etc. It was a stare down to see if I would hang up and give up. She would not send me an email confirming the cancelation. I had to call back and speak to a different customer service person to get a confirmation number. How this company has an A+ rating from BBB is beyond me.
ADT fraud!!
I have contacted ADT twice regarding a billing issue! The first time I was transferred six times and lost forty minutes which I will never get back!
The second time I was transferred seven times and two hours and forty minutes that I will never get back!
I still have not got resolution on this billing issue ! I contacted CEO of ADT and he could care less. No response! ADT are like the mafia of years past! Do not sign a contract with them without a lawyer! Trust me they are crooks!
ADT A nightmare of poor experience.
> I subscribed to ADT thinking their “monitoring” covered both alarms and cameras. One of my cameras went offline and I was never notified. When I finally reached support, I was told that ADT doesn’t monitor camera status — only door sensors. This was never explained at sign-up, yet I’ve been paying $70/month under the assumption that video monitoring was included.
I filed with the BBB and the Texas Attorney General, and even sent a formal demand letter. ADT has not responded appropriately. Many customers online are reporting similar issues. I don’t feel safe or protected by this service.
Please be very careful before signing a contract.
Constant fire alarm same area of house…
Constant fire alarm same area of house told reset remove battery. Have issues with cameras not working going offline. Begged for a tech to come out and told we'd be charged a fee for their faulty equipment and a fee to replace said equipment. It's getting to the point im starting to worry if alarm goes off fire dept won't take it seriously bc they've been out so many times b4 same issue. And of course is always in the middle of the night when a sleep. Can't wait to finish our contract count down till April 2026 has started.
ADT better watch out for class action lawsuits.
I've had ADT for 5 years and I can't believe the BS we've been putting up with since we transferred service to our new house.
First off, the local sales rep called when he got wind of us moving. I said I would talk to my husband and he proceeded to call every single day until my husband finally told him we weren't moving yet, back off.
Then when we did end up moving, we shopped around, and sadly, ADT ended up being the cheapest option.
We were sent a bill for canceling our service at our old house, which we obviously didn't do—we TRANSFERRED service. I called customer service and they assured me the charges would fall off 1-3 days after the service was transferred. Then I got ANOTHER bill, so I called again. They said it could now take 10-12 days. Don't worry!
Then—you guessed it—another bill showed up. This time, they said it could take 30 days to fall off, but don't worry! Never worry with ADT! They are on it!
THEN they proceeded to debit my bank account (one we are trying to close, so we didn't have enough money in the account) a week later, leading to an overdraft fee.
Fed up, I reached out to our USELESS and LAZY local rep. He said I should've reached out to him first. Gee, why didn't I think of that? Well, maybe because the only time this guy was ever quick or responsive was when he was harassing me to buy a new system. Anytime I asked for anything else—for example, when I needed the alarm monitoring certificate for our insurance company—it was like pulling teeth. (I was able to easily get it by calling CS. I'm sure he could've done the same in 5 minutes. But he got his commission, so why should he care now?)
So I had the bank dispute the charges and they got me my money back instantly. Now ADT is harassing me, saying I still owe them money. None of the customer service reps can seem to figure it out (their system is always conveniently down when I call, but don't worry—they'll call me back! They never do).
I sincerely hope ADT gets slapped with a dozen class action lawsuits. The lazy local rep even told me this has happened to a number of people (getting cancellation bills when they transferred service). So if you're one of those people, let's get together and put ADT in their place.
And by the way—their systems SUCK. At our old house, the cameras would always drop offline. They only alert you AFTER motion is detected (what good is that if someone is nosing around my house). The new ADT+ system sucks even worse because I can't delete saved media, and can't seem to find out how to turn off the constant camera notifications without turning off all notifications.
If I could tell my younger self anything, it would be this: DON'T USE ADT.
Don't walk away from ADT. Run!
If you were writing a bad review, get in line. Customer service is nonexistent, the add ons both during installation and then later on your bill are outrageous.
I had ADT at my Florida home for 5…
I had ADT at my Florida home for 5 years. I called them to advise them I was selling the property and moving to South Carolina and didn’t need their services any longer. I was informed that I was under a contract. My understanding when I first signed up with them the contract was only for 2 years, when questioned I was told it is an automatic renewal, which was never originally discussed. Said I could buy out my contract. I decided to keep the services until the house sold, and called them back to cancel my contract. My $300 buy out resulted in $700 pay out after they continued to charge me even after the property sold and called them to advise I no longer have the property and to cancel. They NEVER cancel the contract even though my representative said he would. After fighting the charges , going through difference customer service representative and the run arounds. The company sent me a $32.00 check as a “refund”. Even after writing the corporate office. I do not recommend this company EVER. They are scam artists!

Beward of the Battery!
When we moved, I upgraded to Google as was recommended. My first problem was when the installer came and handed me the contract. As I tried to read it, he kept insisting that he could not start the installation without my signature on the contract. I was attempting to read the entire contract but he kept interrupting with "are you done yet?" Because of this I just signed without reading the entire contract. This is how they get you.
Second, when installing the equipment, he did not tell me the battery may not be fully charged...it wasn't. Within a week, the battery was not working so we could not see live shots from the doorbell camera. When I tried to get support, ADT wanted to charge me for a tech to come out. We were charging the battery every 3 or 4 days and it's still not working properly. We have tried the visual aid walkthroughs. They sent a tech out who did nothing but talk and charged us $234.00, which after me complaining, was waived. It's been 2 months and we still have to charge the doorbell battery every few days. The tech said it might be the transformer in our doorbell casing. I guess we'll try that next.
After being a client for over 7 years, I am very dissatisfied with the way ADT has handled my situation. I don't like that I was not aware of autopay which is contained in the contract probably in the part which I did not read. ADT should allow the customer to read the full contract before the installation tech comes to the door. ADT should also make the customer aware of the fact that the battery is not fully charged at the time of installation. I had a Ring camera for 7 years and never had a problem with the battery. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one with these issues. Knowing what I know now, I would not use ADT for their overpriced equipment. I would go to Lowe's or Home Depot, install it myself and let them monitor. They seem to have shady practices designed to entrap you.
I trusted ADT to protect my home
I trusted ADT to protect my home, but they failed. After I tried to cancel, I was hit with hidden fees, no call backs, and rude customer service. I felt scammed, not safe. If you’re thinking about getting ADT, please look at other options. I’ve filed a complaint with the FTC and BBB. This company needs to do better.

Misled Into $5,000 Loan Without Full Disclosure — Ongoing
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with ADT. I was told a total cost of $1,103.33 for my security system, and I paid $663 upfront. Later I find out the itemized list i was given with a total. Didnt even list everything that was installed nor did it give the correct total. At no point was I told that I was being signed up for a $5,000 loan through a third-party lender (Aldo Finance), and I was never shown a complete contract during installation.
The technician had me sign documents on a tablet with no clear breakdown, and the actual contract was only emailed after the fact — showing a loan and total much higher than what I agreed to. When I brought this to ADT's attention, I spoke with both a sales rep and a technician who reviewed my equipment list and confirmed that what I received does not add up to $5,000. Despite this, ADT has been unwilling to fix the issue.
I’ve now filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the FTC, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office. I'm posting this review to warn others: make sure you are shown the full contract up front and know whether you're signing up for a loan. I feel deceived and financially trapped.
ADT needs to take accountability and stop these misleading practices.
Terrible service
Terrible service. Took 4 chat agents and didn’t get all issues resolved.
So I have only had them for about a…
So I have only had them for about a week and have already noticed the terrible camera quality. To make things better today 6/14/2025. I had a package delivered at 1646 that all good camera caught it but then not even 3 hours later the package is missing but zero camera. Action . The package was literally right in front of the camera and it didn’t activate to show the package being stolen . Total joke it has also missed Multiple other persons in just a week span this provides zero credibility/ security . What do they do get there cameras from temu then not even monitor them such a waste of money. Safe your money and run away from adt they are a complete failure.
ADT does not resolve issues
I am stumped trying to obtain $297.91 reimbursement or credit for damage done March 19, 2025 by ADT - I paid an electrician out of pocket. After 5 hours attempting to upgrade my system the result was tripping my breaker box and burning my outlet. Ten days later a 3rd tech successfully upgraded the system. After numerous conversations and emails the reimbursement issue has not been handled. A company called Apex on behalf of ADT contacted me for reimbursement purposes on March 31. This company wanted me to complete a form providing my personal information and SSN. There was not an encrypted or secure way to provide this so I did not return the form. Further discussion/email including BBB did not result in a solution. I found an email address for the CEO and asked for resolution 2 weeks ago. I do have to say most of the people I talked to were helpful, apologetic and 'escalated' the issue. Apparently they are not aware it goes nowhere.
Don't Sign With ADT - Too Big to Service Customers
Well, I guess I am in good company with all of the other 1 Star ratings. I have been a loyal customer for 8 years. ADT is so large that it is a frustrating beauracracy that lacks service! I had some issues transitioning my service 3 years ago and this time, I had a major issue. I sold my house in March 2025, transferred my service (still on contract) to my new home. I provided plenty of notice, communicated with their moving service, got signed up for installation in my new home. However, I received repeated emails, texts and invoices charging me over 1600.00 for canceling my contract prematurely. Every time I received one, I called. I spoke with 12 people. They all said that it had been taken care of but each time it did not. I did work with a gal "Angela' who was doggedly focused on good service. God bless her, she was trying. But even good employees have no control over a bloated system. She said that I would not get charged the 1600+ dollars because I clearly had started services at a new location. But this very large amount was forced on my credit card. Oddly, the new buyers of my old home had started services quickly, using my old equipment using a third part ADT reseller and they did something that made it look like my former system had been abandoned. Angela did ultimately get a reversal for me but even though I spent over 14 hours on hold or talking to someone, I was still charged. The salesman made promises he didn't keep including providing sticker and a sign. Never dropped it by. Contract done in 2 years because they kept adding years for every new service I ordered after installing original system. Beware of these folks. The system you need is always more expensive than the one you are sold initially on the phone. If you get additional services after the initial installation they add additional years to your contract. There are other options. DON'T use ADT.
Absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible. We purchased the equipment for our home. After we paid off all the cameras everything went south. When calling and letting them know I can't see notifications on my cameras it wasn't help. They just stopped working. We had a incident at our house and called to ask how to look back at the footage earlier on during the day they said that's not a option. How do we have actual camera footage but no way to look? What's the point? They told us that we had the older equipment that they dont even make anymore. Why? Then when I tried canceling they told me I had to pay over $1000 to cancel. I won't give them anymore of my money. I had to block the charges through my bank just so they dont take any more money. Don't fall for adt. Never recommend.
I've had a consistent trouble alarm…
I've had a consistent trouble alarm since the wireless system was installed over six months ago. Then when I call customer service. They ask me the basic stupid questions in a demeaning manner. I'm sorry, but as a 21 year federal police officer, I know garbage when I see it. And, this is garbage.
Get something real. These people are just a scam. They don't care about you.
What a scam when you try and disconnect…
What a scam when you try and disconnect your service. Lost our home and everything we own due to a fire, it was devastating. ADT continued to charge us after we called and told them our situation and made us jump through hoops to get to right person within their rubric of a call center connect to just cancel our service. We had no contract with them at this time, equipment was paid in full, and they didn't want to let us go. After 2 hours' worth of phone calls, I finally had a representative on the line that helped, but then he asked me several questions that made me lose my mind. I told him we lost everything..."can we offer you a free month of service before you cancel, "no I have no home", Can we offer you 3 months' worth of service, "no I lost my home and everything we own, we have no electricity, we have nothing", can we offer you a $75 gift card and 3 months of service, "you are complete a-holes and we will never come back to your service. Who is running the show at this company. What a mess!!!!!!
Buyer beware
I purchased a new system and was told by the salesman (Josh Mitchell) that my daughter would get a $200 referral gift card and I would get a $200 new customer gift card. The salesman took down all my daughters information (including account number). After months of not getting either card, I reached out to my salesman and he never responded to text messages or phone calls. I then reached out to customer service and they stated my daughter had to make a referral on the referral line. When she did they, they denied it and said the system was already installed. After months of calling and being told the cards would be sent out and nothing. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they said one would contact me - nope never happened. Today (almost a year and half later) they offered me a $100 credit on by account and nothing for my daughter. I can't believe that there isn't a supervisor that can make the decision to just make this right and send out two gift cards. I literally spent hours on line and on the phone for months (getting transferred often) and no one had the ability to make this right.
