Bad service and customer service
My experience: Bad customer service (very unprofessional and rude), service even worse! never again!

I will give them one since I have to…
I will give them one since I have to give at least one. Their customer service is awful and they hang up on you and you have to call back and sit on hold all over again. They cannot resolve my problem but still expect me to pay almost $500 to break contract. I asked why I have to pay for a service I am not being provided, all they could say was "sorry." Horrible and will not recommend to anyone.

ADT - NEVER AGAIN
I've been an ADT customer for 29 years. I have a vacation home in Florida that had Pulse services. I asked for these to be taken off in May 2020 when Covid stopped me renting my home. I had minimum internet so couldn't use Pulse. I've been paying $45 a month for nothing but a basic alarm. I've recently set my home up again and called ADT to reinstate my services but am told that they no longer use Pulse and my whole system needs to be changed to Commander. I explained that I just had a week between guests and was told that it should be possible to get the installations done. It took almost 2 hours on the phone getting set up with the new agreement but I was then told installation wouldn't be until AFTER my next guests moved in or January. I said no good and was told I'd need to call back to rearrange. I was also told it was a big job and would take 2 guys a whole day. I asked what time they'd start as I'd need my property manager there to oversee. Was told it would be all day, 12 hours!! This is even though my system was already set up with wiring in place. The cost for me to have my manager be at my home for 12 hours as required by ADT would be $35 per hour!! NO WAY. I checked out with other recommended alarm companies and chose to cancel ADT and go with an an alternative with a far better review rating who tell me they can fit my system within my time frame and it will take up to 4 hours. I've called ADT to cancel and a rude assistant insinuated I must be stupid if I believe the job can be properly done in 4 hours. Also told me that when I downgraded my system in 2020, I'd entered into a new contract and will be charged until May 2022. Well ADT, take the money, you'll never see any more of mine and I'll make sure to let all my fellow renters know what a stinking company you are to do business with and to avoid at all costs. I'll be highly recommending my new company instead. When your agents tell me repeatedly I'm such a valued customer but don't even know how long I've been lining your pockets then treat my like vermin when I say I'm cancelling speaks for itsself. ADT is shallow and has no respect for it's customers. I'm glad I found out before I entered into another 5 year contract. If ADT are so stupid as to treat their so called 'Valued' customers in such a way, it's no surprise they are so lowly rated. Here's another 1 star when they deserve a minus.

Surprise 3 year contract that doesn't move with you.
I ordered ADT security services for my mother's apartment unit and when she married, and moved to a home already set up with a security system, I called in to cancel the ADT services. Upon calling I found out that it was under a 3 year contract so I asked to have the services moved to my home since it was in my name. Come to find out that if I wanted to transfer the services to my home then I would have to start a whole new 3 year contract or pay off the old one in the amount of 500 dollars! Still fighting this one but lesson learned! Never again ADT!

Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. We got our system April or May 2021 and since then we had it it's been nothing but problems. Called them explain my problems because I couldn't answer about a Pin code didn't match pin code for our system that works in out house...the lady hung up on us... called back a gentleman actually had other things we could answer to get things rolling. (Why didn't the lady? That was rude) then we find out we didn't "sign up" for whatever it should be to be able to have people come check out the stuff so we'll be charged. Why wasn't I told about this when yal were so quick to sell us the piece of crap that works when it wants too? Scam. So I'm like yeah I want to cancel this oh you can't your in a year contract. Yal made sure I had this contract but didn't make sure I have the extra bonus stuff to be serviced when needed? But that's okay when it's up we will definitely not renew customer service is rude and hate their job and the product sucks so no need to use this. And I am the person when I purchase something I get the whole deal because it makes sense to do so I would never say no to a warranty or an extra cost on saving for emergency services.

I wish I could leave 0 stars. ADT just took money out of my account without my authorization. This is hands down the worst company I have ever dealt with. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY. Hands down dishonest and could care less about their clients. Because I trusted a technician (who is also the salesman) and was told that upon cancellation there was no disconnect fee. Unfortunately trusting people I did not read the contract. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Besides the dishonesty of the technician/salesman I had told ADT in August to delete all my banking info. Instead of doing this they took money out of my account without authorization. Again I owe over $2200 for cancelling my services. Horrible company. This is after paying off my equipment.

Disappointing after sales service
Disappointing after sales service. Three times over 2 weeks an engineer was due to come out, took time off work - no engineer turned up. Overpaid £300 promised a refund twice, still waiting for a refund 14 days later. ADT failing miserably!

ADT IS BY FAR THE WORST ALARM COMPANY EVER! NOT ONLY ARE THEY NOT LOCAL, THEY DO NOT RESPOND WHEN YOUR ALARM GOES OFF, AND YOU ARE REQUIRED TO LOCK IN FOR THREE YEARS SO IF YOU TRY TO LEAVE, YOUR ARE CHARGED 75% OF THE BALANCE. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!!!

This is by far the worst
This is by far the worst. It is a pure ridiculousness. So it constantly goes off motion detected and I'm sitting here on my couch and my neighbor went and checked through my mailbox. So someone committed a crime and ADT did not record any motion. I have ring for my back door because I don't use my front but I should have did the opposite. Ring detects EVERYTHING. I can call the police but once again my word against hers. Smh Beyond pissed to be paying for something that doesn't even work when you need it the most.

Absolutely appalling service
Absolutely appalling service. I have been with ADT for 20 years will now move elsewhere. Have requested a sensor to be moved have booked an engineer 10 times with no show!!! when they did turn up was told to run the cable myself!! which I have done they have switched off my alarm system for weeks cannot get an engineer to attend for the sensor to be changed and system to be switched on. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HAVE TODAY BEEN TOLD THEY ARE INUNDATED WITH COMPLAINTS AND TURNAROUND IS MINIMUM 10 DAYS.!!

Absolutely terrible liars
Absolutely terrible liars. Anything out of their mouths are untruthful. They only want to bilk you out of money. May examples such as misleading contracts and not letting you cancel even after the contract. The worst alarm company in the world. Go with anyone else but ADT.

…ADT overcharging liars
I really don’t know where to start but I’ll try and I’d also like to say I’m not usually one to write negative reviews but I feel I must as ADT are incompetent liars and advice I must give to all you potential customers is don’t join ADT but if you intend too please don’t. However if you have any subsequent dealings with them don’t take their word on anything said by them, get an email from whoever you talk with confirming what you have talked about because if you don’t you will be held accountable. Anyway here’s how my scenario has developed. I’m a company in Aberdeen, Scotland and I haven’t had our ADT alarm system working properly since July the reason being the alarm initially went off at around 11pm and allegedly the reason being that the back up battery had failed this was explained by the visiting engineer the following day, however when we questioned this,he said we must have had a power cut and the back up battery had went flat ( even though the batteries are supposed to last upto 8 hrs) this was not the case but we asked the engineer if he could get the alarm at least back up and running and we will pay for the battery even though you should have replaced it at the routine yearly service, but due to covid that never took place also we hadn’t had any power cut.(there is more to this story but I can’t write it all). Anyway he was a nice fellow but incompetent, he said he was new to the job. He was there for around 4-5hrs pressing the keypad buttons and on his phone, we questioned his knowledge of what he was doing and to which he said “I’ll have to get the assistance from a more experienced engineer but meantime the system is working except for the panic alarm fobs” (he took one away with him) anyway to cut an extremely long scenario short all he had done was change the battery and mess up all of the individual zones of our alarm by pressing keypad buttons for hours not knowing his job. This was confirmed when I tried to set it after he had left and it wouldn’t unset when we punched our pin in. We eventually managed to unset it after several attempts. We got a more experienced ADT engineer out of which I’ve had on previous years and he confirmed the other engineers incompetence and said he messed up the systems alarm zones and nothing else is broken and he would book me in to get it rezoned and get the system upgraded to GSM at the same time ( I’m still waiting). Later that month I received an email saying we required a new PCB ( printed circuit board) and I received a bill for first engineers day out ( £1,150+) and ontop of this a bill for £500+PCB. I have talked and emailed umpteen customer advisors explaining the situation some of which side with me and others bluntly saying that I need to pay it. I then emailed the local field line manager and explained the whole situation and she said that my concerns of the first engineers incompetence ( just pressing buttons all day and just exasperating the problem)was unfounded as the resolve team uploaded a programme to the system , i said our alarm system isn’t that capable as it’s the lead in model not that high tech and that the second engineer said it just requires rezoning. I’ve spoken on deaf ears for months and I decided to get an independent engineer from another alarm company who came out and assessed my alarm and confirmed my thoughts that the alarm just needs rezoning , he also checked the PCB board and it’s not broken and is in working order. I have tried to explain this to anyone and everyone from ADT that I’m not getting taken for a mug and that I’m not paying for some engineers incompetence. Months pass and email after email and phone call after call and eventually I get a solicitors letter from ADT demanding payment, i explained briefly the situation and that I’ll see them in court along with all email correspondence and ADT’s lies. The solicitor said they would put it on hold until they look into it. The plot thickens because I said I want to leave ADT and when I said this they wanted to charge me for my 5th year contract before they would release me from their grasp, i said ok I’ll pay to get away from all the aggravation they then said leave it with them. I spoke to the new alarm company and they said they needed the system engineer code before they could take over the alarm and the Redcare monitoring, i then called the last ADT advisor who said he’d send out an engineer for free to get it from our system , i asked him for an email to confirm this was free , thank goodness I did because when another ADT engineer came out ( I got another bill for his visit too) he checked the system and he too confirmed that the PCB board was working because if it wasn’t he wouldn’t have been able to get the code for me ( which he gave) he also said it just needed rezoning and he also confirmed my concern of the first engineers incompetence.Moral of story avoid ADT at all costs.

Fire Departments - You are being forced to waste $
Fire Departments across the country need to know that thousands of their dollars are being wasted by ADT. I had ADT and my alarm went off - middle of the day. The screen read " fire on second floor" there was NONE! However the fire department was summoned by THEM. A supervisor at ADT admitted after assuring me that this could not occur - that their system is designed to go off - if the batteries are dead. There was NO indication of the need to do so and ADT techs who installed the system told me the system was hard wired and never discussed batteries. Now I have canceled the contract - they still own me $50 in overpayments - have not seen that and suspect I never will. Last night the alarm went off again - 1 AM. I called ADT and was told there was NOTHING they could do about it - that I was not a customer anymore ( although they insisted I give them the password I had on the account !!! ) They told me to hire a electrician to take THEIR system out. I hope - and will be helping to get the word out to fire departments across America that their time and money is wasted on calls for dead batteries - that ADT designs them to do so. Sort of think ADT should be charged for such calls. NEVER NEVER NEVER deal with this company - they will waste your money - leave you frightened when there is no reason for it - and hold your "overpayment" until or if they decide to pay it back ....HORRIBLE company - the word is going out to the fire people across the country - they need to know where their money and services are going !!!!!

Appalling Company
How can a company this bad still be getting customers. Everywhere you look, ADT reviews and ratings are abysmal. I have had a fault on my alarm system since Aug 21 and on four occasions an engineer was booked to attend. I took four days off work and on each occasion they didn't turn up. As I have a maintenance contract with them I am considering a small claims court legal action for Breach of Contract. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY.

AVOID AT ALL COST
(7/18/22 UPDATE: I switched back to Xfinity, omg they made you guys look 3rd world. You seriously need to retrain your installers on how to act when at a customer location. I got everything that I originally wanted (I.E. what your sales man originally said we would have). They didn't insult me, nor did they bother with their phones when they rang. They were here for this job. They were able to complete the removal and installation (Including drilling into an exterior walls and adding more cameras) in less then 2 hours. It took your guys most of the morning and one of the xfinity technicians were in training. The comparison was very sad to be honest.) (Original review) The sales person said that we would have 8 outside cameras, every exterior window and door with have a sensor on it and we would get alerts when someone pulls into our driveway. It sounded great and Xfinity couldn't get to us until the next month so we decided to go with them, because naturally a alarm company is going to give us a better experience then a cable company, Right?. 100% bait and switch, we ended up with 2 outside cameras, NO driveway alert, 1 inside camera I didn't even want and a pet friendly motion detector that we can not use because our cat's keep setting it off. The installer was pretty far from professional, he drilled into supporting beams in my garage WITHOUT CHECKING WITH ME FIRST. He didn't bother to clean up any of the sawdust. Got in a raging argument when a telemarketer called him. It was so bad both me and my wife just wanted him gone and haven't bother with customer service because we know it's going to go back to him. The app isn't as good as xfinity, the camera resolution isn't as good as we had with Xfiinity (even our ring is better then what you offer) The control center thing is so vanilla we don't ever use it. I do not understand why or how a cable company can offer a better security product then a company that specializes in it.ADT got us on the hook for a 2 year contract once that's up we are going back to a service that will actually give us what we are paying for. In response to ADT canned reply. Unless your going to let me out of my contract there is no reason to talk.

ADT worst company ever never ever do…
ADT worst company ever never ever do business with them, we moved and they told my husband they would transfer or service to out new home, when they came to our new home there was ADT equipment already installed in the home that is about 15 years old when we left our other home we had all up dated equipment, they installed nothing and then had my husband sign a brand new contract, when we asked for new equipment they told us we would have to pay for it, and we had spoken to several reps with the company and they have all promised to fix it and it has yet happen, we unplugged the system for a month and never got a phone call to ask us why the system was down ( dont we pay for that) when we filed a BBB complaint adt told the BBB that they tried to contact us but they never have, DO NOT FOR ANYREASON DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY

I would've given negative stars of it…
I would've given negative stars of it was possible. Part of my package included a garage door opener that never works when I need it to. I've called repeatedly and they'd come out to get it to work that day, but it wouldn't work after that. ADT won't come and get it back and refund me for it. I brought up the fact that I'm paying for something that doesn't work and was told that "we'll stick with what you've got." I'll NEVER use or recommend ADT to anyone unless they enjoy paying for crap that doesn't work.

If i can rate them for 0 i will. They have a contract for 3 years and after 3 years we tried cancelling it cause we dont need it anymore and they put you on a sales person who will convinced you to keep using thier stupid product. Never again ADT We had bad experience with it.

I had been a Protection One customer…
I had been a Protection One customer for both my business as well as my home for over twenty years and then ADT took over Protection One. On June 4 of 2021, an ADT technician was scheduled to arrive and install an upgraded cell service on my system at the office. He arrived in a timely manner and proceeded to do the work that probably took no more than half an hour. I continued working on patients when suddenly police officers arrived asking if everything was ok. Apparently (and later confirmed) the technician set off a silent emergency alarm and failed to notify ADT central that he was working on the system. I received a ninety-six dollar false alarm assessment bill and paid it. After at least three calls, they sent a technician on October 22 to inspect the system to be sure that it was not a system defect and reassured me that once that inspection occurred I would be reimbursed. As of yesterday, December 06, 2021, I have called ADT 10 times and, yesterday alone, four of those calls took place over a period of one hour and fifteen minutes. I was given the wrong contact number three times before I finally reached the proper department and was then told I would have to be on hold until the matter was resolved. I proceeded to tell them to review the matter and call me back later in the day because I had patients waiting. I never received a call back.

This company is the worst company in…
This company is the worst company in the alarm system business. They give out inaccurate time spans on how long contract goes, so read carefully. Very expensive for what service you get. They come back and take services away & want to charge for Ring Doorbell camera capability. I have talked with 5 people trying to cancel my service after 3 years. This is a horrible company to deal with.

Impossible to cancel
Impossible to cancel. Several calls over the span of months and they are still charging me. I moved in July and have called each month till today in Dec. Needless to say I will not be signing back up after finding a new house. Its just not worth it.
