Terrible Service - impossible to cancel
UPDATE: definitely unethical practices. They are charging me yet again and I have disputed the charges. Next step is filing a formal complaint with authorities. Avoid ADT at all cost. I have been an ADT customer for 14 years. I finally had enough of their price increases and called to cancel. The worst 3 hours of my life. In my opinion they are unethical and have you wait 30 mins to get a rep to cancel. The first two times the rep hung up on me. Even though they asked for my phone number each time, they didn’t have the courtesy / competency / respect to call me back. Somehow I finally got connected to a good employee and she told me the cancellation was effective immediately. I was routed to another department because I was requesting a refund $153 due to the pain and suffering experienced over the 3 hour horror (3 x $51 monthly charge). He said they could only refund one month but then told me the prior rep wasn’t correct about the cancellation being effective immediately. Apparently they charge you for another 30 days after cancellation. I am so glad to hopefully be done with this horrible company that clearly doesn’t care for their customers and seemingly makes an intentional effort to make cancelling the worst experience of your life. Save your sanity - go with another company.

Sold my house and had to cancel the service. Tried over chat on MyADT, terrible service, only to be told I had to call a number. Called the number and waited for 30 min, with no option or call back. Zero respect for customers’s time.

SERVICE POURRI (ADT TELUS) J'ai un système adt depuis 20 ans mais depuis que TELUS a mis la main sur cette compagnie le service est POURRI...le département de service est quasi impossible a rejoindre et par la suite j'ai attendu 2 semaines la visite d'un supposé technicien arrogant...il ne change pas les batteries des capteurs (car il n'en a pas) et me dit que s'il ouvre le couvert d'un détecteur et qu'il le brise il va me charger pour le remplacer....Il me parle comme on parle a un enfant et me dit de prendre des notes...Je ne fait pas d'alzheimer et n'ai pas que ce : sacrement: de système a penser dans la vie...Si vous achetez un système d'alarme Cherchez autre chose que ADT TELUS et PROTECTRON

I wish I could give zero stars
I wish I could give zero stars. I’ve been with ADT for 2.5 years (which I should’ve known from the first day to get out of this scam trap… that story is too long for a review). I simply called to transfer my service because I’m moving. Sure! No problem. You will get all new equipment and we’ll charge you a $2000 again because the equipment you’ve been paying for for 2.5 years is to be left in your old house for someone else to pay for again. That will come out of your account over the period of the contract. Sure whatever. I check my account the next day and they’ve taken $531!!!!! I have called SEVEN times attempting to get my money back and they do nothing but transfer me around to one clueless person to another. I will not quit fighting for my $531 and I SO WISH I could cancel this crap. DO. NOT. FALL. IN. TO. THE. ADT. TRAP. WARNING. Guard your sanity. Not your house.

Terrible. Had the service for less than a year and it’s never worked correctly. The camera is constantly offline and if it’s online it doesn’t record. I have had service out to my house at least monthly and they “fix it” while they are here and as soon as they drive away it stops working again. I’m literally wasting $100 a month on this piece of crap. I asked how much to get out of my contract and they said $2300. This should be illegal. Why am I held to a contract that ADT isn’t held to??? I literally hate them. Don’t use them. You will be sorry.

What a nightmare!!
What a nightmare!!! This business should be shut down!!! I will never make the mistake of not reading the reviews before contacting or doing business with a company..if I saw the rating first I would of never called..So I needed a night camera on my property because of vandalism. After meeting/listening to the sale Rep,I felt everything was on the straight and narrow..gave my debit card thinking when the equipment gets here/set up,the card will be charged. Nope,the money was taken out right then,I was surprised.My appointment for set up was a week later..now this is when the nightmare begun.. First appt. Was canceled the day of appt due to needing to order a part. I wasn’t happy,but the women I was speaking with said we can schedule this Saturday. (When Saturday came,no show.) I called my sales Rep,left message,no called back. Then called the number listed online,after repeating several times to different people,I get a call from district Rep,who told me,we are not opened on Saturdays and insured me he was going to take care of this,and will be calling me on Monday,and I have his direct line..On Monday no call. I waited til the next day called the district Rep my cell was blocked….Again I called the number listed online,and again repeating everything,being put on hold twice for a very long time,I was feed up..I canceled the service and told them to refund my money…was told to call billing,and my sales Rep. Spoke to sales Rep only once,he reassured me he was on top of this and to call him to make sure he stays on top of it…and to give 10days to get refund. When I didn’t get the refund. I started calling the sales Rep,no answering,leaving messages. Spoke to someone from ADT told me it takes 14days for refund,,waited some more,, no refund..still making calls to sales Rep who suppose to be there for you…the sales Rep never returned a call…Then one day I was telling my daughter about the situation and she said the smartest thing..contact your bank..open a investigation..I did just that. So I hope someone reads this and finds themselves waiting for their refund…contact your bank..My money was returned and my bank goes after ADT… What a headache, I will be sharing my experience with all who listens.

Not liking that your contracted in…
Not liking that your contracted in (Strong Armed). Even if you move your contract has to be fullfilled. Trust me I get it. They said, Oh your a good customer and have been with us 8 years. I felt I was paying for a service I was no longer getting because I was moving. These guys cut their nose off in spite their face. Yeah, that $300.00 cancellation fees gonna cost you my business . I won't be back and will never recommend this security company. Funny, the irony of it is I planned on using them at the new place. Well, I'm not now. Those contracts are strong arming the customer. Anyway, hope your cancellation fee was worth not having a lifetime customer. Not smart!

I been using ADT for 3 years and last…
I been using ADT for 3 years and last Sunday some break in to my store.ADT System is armed and robbers are dancing in front of store and alarm did not trigger..! I have try to call for their support to cancel their services since they did not work the time that I needed most. After transferring agent to agent for 4 days they have no option to resolve the issue without paying me penalty. One of the worst services out there today.hope this company will bankrupt pretty soon.this company is a scam.people please be aware of their contract and if you fully read it you’ll understand they are not liable for anything.basically you just paying for nothing..! This is a trap please don’t fall in to this. NOTE: FOR ADT PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS SAYING EMAIL TO ALWAYSTHEIR EMAIL.I already did and it does not solve anything.talked to 20+ agent to resolve the issue.no resolution yet.

Atrocious Service and contemptuous representatives
This is the third home that I have owned in which we have chosen to go with ADT and I am regretting that I did not explore other options. We were very pleased with the service in our home in Alaska but in Birmingham, Alabama it has been atrocious. I even had a staffer tell me that ADT is a 147 year old company in an exasperated and haughty tone as though this was somehow relevant to the fact that I have had 3 sensors malfunction on 3 separate occasions, the secondary digital panel become unpaired with the rest of the system. All of this required tech service calls which took at least 30 minutes for me to arrange due to the long duration of being on hold (due to the perpetually high volume of calls) waiting for someone to schedule a service call. The customer service reps are not even remotely courteous but rather disdainful and their troubleshooting is beyond basic. In this new home we have been with ADT for a year and we will not be renewing our contract because they clearly have no interest in providing professional, courteous and expedient service despite the fact that we pay top dollar for their security system.

I absolutely hate this company
I absolutely hate this company. They gouge on prices, especially installation. The service is absolute garbage, particularly the cell connection. But the worst is the customer service. The people are kind, but the system is designed for maximum pain when trying to cancel service. It took me 3 months of calling to finally get service cancelled after moving. They "lost" records of calls. Transferred me from one department to another. Hung up when call center closed without letting me know it was about to close, and didn't call back, and generally are terrible. I can't say enough bad things about ADT. When we got our first house there were limited options. Now there are many better easier options... go with new tech and companies.

Absolutely Horrible
Absolutely Horrible. Where do I start? We had so many issues with batteries dying after only being installed for a few weeks, alarms non functioning, plus alarms went off several times and no one called or anything. We finally decided to cancel it. After spending about 10 hours of my life on hold over a series of 6 weeks waiting on a refund that several different employees promised had been issued, they eventually told us we were not going to get the refund back. Several people flat out lied about the refund and told us it would be deposited in 2 weeks, then it was 3-5 business days and eventually they said no refund because of the "cancelation fee". Here is even an email they had sent us: "Dear Valued Customer, This is to confirm that your refund in the amount of $163.13 has been sent for processing. For credit card and ACH refunds, please allow up to 10 days for a refund to post. If you are receiving a check, processing may take up to 25 days. Please visit MyADT.com for general billing account information, to download account statements, sign up for paperless billing or to enroll in EasyPay Thank you for choosing ADT. It is our pleasure to serve you." I honestly feel like this whole company is a scam- they make it impossible to reach anybody in person unless you want to spent 30 minutes waiting each time. Then they made it impossible to cancel and when we finally did they wouldnt give us the refund they promised us. I will discourage anyone from using this company.

I've been with ADT for over 10 years, now they want $700 for a mandatory upgrade!
I've been a satisfied customer with ADT for over 10 years, they just sent me a notification saying 3G is phasing out and I need a mandatory upgrade to my system by Feb 2022, So I call them up and they want $700 for the upgrade! If the equipment they installed in my house will soon be obsolete, then they should do the upgrade for free to keep me as a customer and my Thousand Dollars a year for monitoring! I'm changing to another security service and throwing my ADT system in the trash where it belongs! I got a deal on the new system, full replacement system with more sensors and features than I have now with ADT only cost me 40% of what ADT wants just for the upgrade and the new monitoring service will cost less than 1/3 of the ADTs service! SO, SEE YA ADT!!! YOU ARE OBSOLETE!!! THANKS FOR MAKING ME SHOP AROUND, I FOUND OUT I'VE BEEN PAYING WAY TO MUCH FOR WAY TO LONG.

System outdated after 2.5 years
Recently getting calls telling me my system isn't connected to ADT network. Call ADT about this and they send me a cell bridge, which doesn't work and has been discontinued. Now they say there is no techinaicans in my area to come to my home. Unless I upgrade my system of only 2.5 years. Which will cost me a 3 year contract and my monthly service to go from 60 to 70 dollars a month. Seems like it is time to find another security company....not that ADT cares...

I previously had Lifeshield for over 8…
I previously had Lifeshield for over 8 years and when ADT had bought them out my outdoor cameras, base, and sensors had to be replaced with ADT equipment. Install was easy but the outdoor cameras had to be reset constantly. I have spent many hours with tech support, replaced cameras with new added the extender+chime "said that it would keep them going for 24/7 surveillance". I do not get 24/7 security maybe 3 to 4 hours of the day if were lucky. Buyer beware this is the worse security system ever. Oh they have a cancellation fee which is literally throwing money out the window or you end up paying monthly for a security system that does not work. Their is no legal action you can take to get out of the contract only reviews to let other consumers know do not go with ADT... corporate office is a joke let alone tech support!

ADT equals bad service
ADT has treated us very badly since we discontinued their services. We paid our final balance and one of their technicians came out and removed their equipment. Ever since then they have constantly contacted us by phone and by mail, trying to bill us for money that we do not owe them. Just recently they have turned our file over to a collection agency. On 4 or 5 occasions my wife has been in touch with them by phone and been assured that the confusion has been straightened out and the account closed. I don't think they know what they are doing. It has been a real pain.

their customer service is terrible when they make mistakes. i moved from my old business to my new business address, they charged me for 2 years on both my old and new address. now its time for them to refund me, i've called them serveral times spending hours with no resolution till this date. thats why i had to leave a review be very careful.

They are the BIGGEST SCAM artists of all time.. They do an install in MAY and tell you if you move just let us know and we will have the service moved for you. THEN in November what happens when you move... well you are then told you have to LEAVE ALL the brand new equipment, but they are just so kind to offer you a CREDIT for more new equipment. They also don't allow you to take the old equipment if you want to because then it voids the entire plan so you cant do that either or you get billed for the balance on the contract. So either way buy out the current contract OR buy new equipment and have to SIGN A NEW CONTRACT for the new equipment.. #1 BIGGEST ROBBERY EVER!! Don't get sucked into them.

i wish there was a star for the most unprofessional unpleasant frustrating and unreliable company we ever came across. They are a scam. Never agian,will never recommend them to any one,my advice get a ring door bell or install your own security much cheaper and less stress. Myself and husband was recommend by a good friend to use ADT so we trusted there recommendations. We moved from Nyc about to years now to Florida and after using there services living in Orlando which we needed it However in April 2021 we decided to move to another county in Florida which we no longer needed there services but was told that our contract stipulated three years of there services and that we will have to move with the services and would be given a deduction so we went along with it. Now eight months i was back and forth with this company to rectify they amount they agree for us to pay monthly, every time i call i have to explain Myself Over and over again. Now i spoke to one coperate agent Tishasna on 11/15/2021 very sarcastic which told us that we sign a contract for monthly payments on the 04/29/2021 which know contract was sent to us on that day bare in mind they never even got the address right when we move from our old address but mysterious a contract was signed with by husband name. ADT is a rip off they forge my husband signature Nathaniel ryan was the representative who did. You just loss a very loyal customer for your incompetence and dishonest Yall robbing poor people to get rich But I'll leave it alone. It just take one customer.

Lied to in order to sell more
We dealt with the ADT sales rep, technical team, and installers. Our house had a previous system installed (Alarm.com) and when we moved in we wanted to use ADT as that is what we had previously used. All of the above persons we dealt with ensured us that our current system could not work with ADT so we opted to not use some of it, including cameras and a second doorbell. They insisted only 1 video doorbell was possible on the ADT system. After the install we learned a few things, all of which completely tarnished our feelings of ADT: 1) They take the old system unless you are there to physically stop them and claim it is 'policy'.... in other words they are reselling these to make money. I find taking a system that belongs to me and in no way ever belonged to ADT, as theft. When you buy a new car they have to buy your old used car, they don't just GET it. 2) I was looking through the ADT Control app and noticed the option to add new devices. Some of them looked familiar and as it turns out after looking at a couple pieces of the old system, such as the video doorbell and cameras which we had uninstalled ourselves prior to the installers coming in, were right there plain as day in ADT's own system as being able to use with ADT. I tried installing a couple cameras and bam, no problem at all. I set up the second video doorbell at the back of the house that ADT ensured me couldnt work because their system only allowed 1 video doorbell, and low and behold it found it immediately through their own software and worked just fine. I guess the only problems were we didn't pay for new cameras and a new doorbell for them to install so they could take the old ones that "wouldnt work" with them when they left to resell. This company is a total scam. Upon reaching out to the installer, local manager, and sales manager we were stonewalled, nobody would return our calls after weeks (We were originally just trying to get the old system panel back from them so we could resell the old system). We ended up calling ADT's main office and spoke with the complaint department only to be told that the only thing the could possibly do for us was give us 2 free months of service to help cover the $600 worth of equipment we did have installed that we apparently never needed, the $1500 worth of equipment they tried to convince us we needed to replace equipment we already had that apparently would have worked on the system all along, and them taking the main panel to OUR Alarm.com system which with cameras and all was said to be about a $3000 system. We were also told they would reach out to the local managers/installer to figure out why we were never responded to, but no shock here we never heard back from them either. ***I would like to add that all of these responses from ADT saying they want to help, email us here are just BS. I highly doubt anyone got even a partially useful response from this group. In short they told me tough we are not helping. Would not even address the stolen equipment or desire to have everything uninstalled (which I cant do since they took my old panel).

ADT “The Boom” reviews are written by employees. They advertise the ease of moving your service from one home to the next. Actually what they try AND do is cancel your current contract and sign you to another 3 year contract….FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!! DON’T FALL FOR THE LIES WITH THIS COMPANY!!! WE REFUSE TO SIGN ANOTHER CONTRACT…..because they continue to LIE!!! We have tried calling and they have said totally different than the commercials we’ve recorded!!! BEWARE!!!!

I am writing this review due to my frustration trying to use the ADT Smart home system over the past couple of years. My ADT smart home used to work well before the end of 2018 and now it's extremely limited almost to the point of being disabled. I can no longer bypass sensors, create scenarios, see which sensors are on my full and partial full set settings, remove fobs, etc. I cannot even enter a single automation rule. Also, there was a privacy notice when I logged into the system today telling me that my system has audio and video recording capabilities and that I needed to agree to ADT's privacy policy allowing ADT to use this but there is not supposed to be any audio and video recording on my system at all. I do not have any such devices installed so I did not agree to this. Please fix my ADT smart home system capabilities and explain why I got a notice saying that my system has video and audio recording capabilities now. I have been a customer for the past 5 years. My system does not offer what is shown in ADT's smart home manual online. However, it used to offers such features until the end of 2018. I no longer have any control over my alarm system features.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I have have adt in my home for 2 1/2 yrs. The doorbell camera which I paid extra for does not work most of the time since installation. Spent countless hours on the phone with the rude representatives. Service person was dirty and had one excuse after the other as to why I could not get my doorbell to work on my adt app. I am canceling after my contract is over. THIS SERVICE IS A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. DON'T GET IT.

Terrible service
1. Have received no maintenance visits for 20 months. 2. Made an appointment for a visit: no one came and no phone call. 3. Then told a fitter would contact me but the "territory was vacant at present" 4. Offered a refund of approx 20% of 2 year charges but money not received. 5. E-mails receive standard reply but no action.
