NOT HAPPY CAMPER WITH ADT
This company will sign you up for a certain amount, then money you to death. Any problems do not call them they will act like they are helping you then they say you need a repair man to come out. The cost is 90.00 just for them to pull in your driveway. Anything goes bad immediately on your equiptment it is on you. Not a chance you will get out of your contract with out paying for 36 months. Not a good company at all.

ADT representative please act immediately as per my request for account number 403099652.I do demand that my old business account immediately closed without any penalties and get credit back to September 1st, 2021. I do demand my residential ADT account to get closed immediately without any penalties and issue me a full refund for non-necessary installation amount of $352. The residential service was sold to me as a scam, and ADT breach its own policy integrity and dignity. I am seeking in total amount of $649.82 in refunds for extra installation cost, and monthly fees, and cancelation of both my business and residential services.
I explain below step by step on what has happened to my account, and why ADT company is such a rigged corrupt company.
I closed my business permanently on August 28th, 2021, as the result of Covid lockdown. I called ADT and told them, I want to cancel the reminder of my service, and they told me there is a 90% penalty of reminder balance for the next 16 months.
I told the representative that is insane and is not lawful, and I am looking to take legal action against the company if there are no other options. The representative told me, they offer customers to transfer the service to another business or residential location under a new contract with new pricing and terms for the reminder of their terms of service to avoid paying penalties.
The representative signed me up for a 12-month contract at my residential address. The reason the company could only gave me 12 months instead of 16 months was the fact that the company offers contract on 12 months base, therefore they offered me the 12 months contract to save me money. They were able to save me money by lowering my monthly bill from $148.97 to $ 48.76 per month. I did the calculation, and I noticed I will save $1,446.40 if I transfer and downgrade my service, so I accept the terms.
The representative told me ADT requires 30 days cancellation notice for the service, so she submits my cancellation request over the phone on September 1st, 2021. She mentioned to me that after I have my service transferred and installed in my home, I will receive a final bill from ADT. And, all I need to do is to call the billing department and have them waive the fees because, I transferred my service to a new location. She told me do not panic when you get the bill in the mail as it includes your 16 moth’s reminder balance.
Installation process was very difficult as ADT purposely not willing to send the technician to my house. I have record of all the installation appointment. One clear example is that I was scheduled for appointment on 9/23/2021 between 12:00- 16:00 and around 12:44 on 9/23 I received an email that my appointment is scheduled between 17:00 to 20:00 on 9/23. Surprisingly, I received another email at 12:46 on 9/23 that I am scheduled 0n 9/23 between 12:00- 16:00. It was obvious that ADT purposely does not want to have me installed while I have downgraded my service.
What’s happened, first they schedule my installation for 9/14/2021 which the technician never showed up. Then they rescheduled my appointment for 9/23 which the technician never showed up as well.
Anyway, I got rescheduled for the 3rd time, and one day before the installation I called ADT and told the representative if they are not sending anyone to have my service installed tomorrow for the 3rd time, they must cancel my business service without any penalties as it is their fault.
Please note during both scheduled appointments, me and wife were presented at home, and our phones were functional. No ring on the bell and no phone calls at all.
Finally, my service got transferred to my new address on 9/28/2021, but I found out on 10/09/21 that ADT billed me for my old business service. I called ADT, and it took me 2 hours to talk to multiply representatives while I was being transferred from one department to another department, including billing, business services, residential services, account management etc.
During my two hours conversation on 10/11/2021 one representative told me that my business account could not get canceled because I transferred the account to a residential service. I made a complaint to her, and she transferred me to another department where finally the representative confirmed that she saw the notes on my account from 9/01/2011. As per notes on my account after a successful transfer of service, my entire business service gets cancelled, and I should get a final bill shortly when I need to call the billing department to have the fees waive for me.
Finally, I got transferred to billing department and request for a refund. My account got credit back on 10/11 and 10/13 for total amount of $231.86.
On 10/19/2021 I have noticed there are pending charges on my ADT account for total amount of $181.85
ADT is a bait and switch scam of a company. The WORST alarm company and the worst company
ADT is the most useless alarm company one could ever choose. Their technicians are contractors who, in our experience, came 6 times and only put 1/2 of their findings spoke to us about in their report. I had to call customer service to reaffirm what was told to us from the service technician only to find holes in the story.
They were here two days ago and STILL have not resolved the problem. They "replaced" the batteries for the 6th time in the current year.
Today I called customer service to report the still open technical issue and I was referred to SALES? Additionally, they were to bring a replacement for a defective keypad (their diagnosis) and did not. I was then told I had to call to get a new one which I could have done 4 months ago if told. We have a free replacement warranty and I have called about this issue three times and was told the keypad issue had already been added to the open issues.

I kid you not. ADT is the absolute s h i t t i e s t company I have ever dealt with. Totally incompetent. Horrible customer service.
The worst
The worst, most unfathomable "bait and switch" just to make a sale practices I have ever seen. I had an ADT employee tell me I could upgrade all my equipment, in May. I told them at that time that come the Fall, just a few months later, I was moving. I was told I could just take all my equipment with me - it's almost brand new. Completely false. The company told me I had to buy all new equipment, to the tune of $1,000+ and then hit me with a $1,000+ cancelation fee when I said I won't purchase brand new equipment when I have everything at my prior house that's just a few months old. It is absolutely sickening how unscrupulous this business is. RUN.

I called to request Service with ADT How in February 2021 they sent me a lot of junk that I could never could install. Because the operators that I called that were like three or four have not been able to help me install it, either through the Internet or something else. And now that I want to cancel it from the service, because I have never been able to use it. They tell me I can't cancel because I owe 2 months and apart I spoke badly to them on cancelation department, They don't want me to cancel the service, but they haven't been able to help me install it and they can't send someone to do And now I really don't want the service anymore because of the way I've been treated .
I live in Baltimore and I need someone from ADT to contact me to solve this inconvenience.
I have 3 children and my wife does not work, I do not think that I have to work 10 to 12 hours a day and have to give away my money for a service that I do not receive.
Completely Dishonest, I've wasted hundreds of dollars with seemingly no recourse
I was flat out lied to about being able to use the security system with pets in my home. I have a useless piece of garbage that I can only arm when I'm home, which is not why I purchased the equipment. I should have known better, but after asking the sales agent several times about being able to arm the alarm while pets are in the house alone, I was reassured "pets under 85 lbs would not trigger the alarm while roaming the house". In retrospect, of course that was a lie. And now I'm stuck with it. Never again.

I sold a house on 7/27/21 after being a customer of ADT since the mid-1980’s. I called at the end of July to cancel my service. I was told that I needed to give 30 days notice and would be charged for an extra month that I did not need. I was VERY unhappy about this, but paid anyway. I was told by the ADT agent that I had to call a different phone number to officially cancel the account, which is ridiculous. (You cannot cancel the account on-line.). I have been trying for 3 months to reach an agent in cancellations. No one ever answers that number. I have waited for 15-20 minutes until I finally hang up. This situation seems like a scheme by ADT to keep charging you monitoring fees. I am going to file a Complaint with the Better Business Bureau. ADT gives you ZERO options to cancel your account except for 1 phone number. There is no mailing address listed anymore for ADT to ask for a cancellation in writing.

I signed up with ADT 9 months ago and had nothing but problems. I have an alarm system and 5 cameras around my property. The cameras only work about 50% of the time. I have called many times about this problem and sometimes a tech will come out and sometimes they try to fix it over the phone with me. Neither way gets my cameras working. I was told I don't have a strong wifi signal, even though I have the fastest speed att makes which is 1000 upload. ADT told me to buy wifi extenders, 3 of them at a price of $245. It made no difference. This week, some of my cameras don't work and I tried calling tech support every day for the last 4 days and I am put on hold and nobody picks up. I hold for 15 minutes and then hang up. Obviously, no one is going to answer. I called today to cancel my service but nobody answers. Just put on hold a really long time until I give up and hang up. I had to pay for the equipment up front. I pay a service fee every month for cameras that don't even work half the time. Don't waste your money with this company.
Rip off organisation
Been with ADT or its predecessor organisations for more than 30 years.
Alarm system now obsolete and costs me £34+ per month for me to talk to an automated system if it goes off. Unfortunately they want lots to upgrade it so moving to a different system and gave them the month's notice today. As it's connected to my house phone line I asked about disconnecting it and was told that would be a fee of £100+.
Just glad to be rid of them now. Could not recommend them any more.
ADT sucks period
ADT sucks period. 2019 upgraded on system and rechargeable dead. Customer service which was a nice lady said been several with same issues. She said she will send a tec out to change battery. Company in my area called Jenny said we can be out there 1-5 and I explain I don’t get off work til 3. She said you have to be there between 1-5. I said well I can’t just leave my job and wait for 5 min job.
Asked if they can do it on Saturday, she said we do not work Saturday’s. I said then I will call ADT and cancel contract. I did and they said your contract is not up til 2023. You can pay 520.00 if you cancel today. I said boy where the Vaseline when you need it…you guys are horrible. I have a system that’s not working and you guys cannot work with me. I said how the hell you get paid? It’s me working. I said you guys need to work with working class people.
I said I will order a battery myself and will send you the bill. I better not be charged with my system down and when I get the battery I will contact you. So seriously thinking talking to lawyer about this. By the way people you can buy batteries on Amazon.
I was “wasting” his time
I just bought a new home (7 days ago). A rep from ADT came out to tell me about a new credit/ homeowner program they are offering and asked if I had heard of it or if anyone’s told me about it. I said no, because it’s true. When I asked for a card to call him later to discuss options and whatnot (as I had already told him that my husband was in the shower and we were getting ready to head out for the day), he said he is looking for people who are more serious about getting a system and he doesn’t want to give me a card so I don’t waste his time. I am not sure if it’s because of how young I look or what it was to cause him to think I wasn’t serious if I am asking for a card to be able to discuss this later, but I am an Army soldier and I will definitely be spreading the word with my fellow soldiers and their families about how ADT treats potentially new customers. In my opinion, this doesn’t not give me the impression that they’d treat me any better if I was already a customer. That nice “safe” and “protected” feeling you should get from a security company….you won’t get it through them with representatives like that.
Zero stars.. predatory
Zero stars... Protection One was EXCELLENT and then became ADT. They stopped offering the service i was contacted for at Protection One without telling me but continued to bill me for it. Then, told me it would require an upgrade at a cost. However, since they'd been taking my money for more than a year I refused to pay for the upgrade.
They then offered to do the upgrade for free if i signed a 3 year contract. Absolutely NOT.
SO I canceled. I discovered today that after canceling in Aug of 2020, the began taking payments from my account a couple mind ago in Aug 2021!
How do they just go into my account unauthorized and take money? Now, they have trouble.

Customer Service
I have been with the company over 15 years, never had issues, talked with several employees, will fine BBB compliant. System down, not able to make payment, on holder over one hour with no resolution, guess will be sending payment by mail. I would have them to get this service if we had not just up graded, stuck for another two years. I will not recommend anyone else.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE…
I've been an ADT customer for nearly 25 years in 3 states. I called 3 weeks ago and made an appointment for someone to come and look at upgrading my system and replacing some sensors (I had some windows replaced in my house and that also removed those sensors). After being on hold/transferred, asked name, address, password multiple times, etc I was finally scheduled for an appointment for Oct 21 at 5:00PM. On Oct 21 at 5:00 no one showed up and no one called. I called ADT that evening and spent over 45 mins on the phone getting the same runaround of transfers, no one could find any record or the appointment, etc. so I rescheduled for today at 5:00. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TODAY. No one came, no one called so I called ADT again and spent 50 mins getting shuffled around and transferred and holding. After 50 mins the person came back on the line and asked me for my name, address, etc. and then said that the ADT system had crashed and I would have to call back. I have been a customer for 25 years and this is the first time I've really had to deal with ADT's customer service. It's beyond terrible. My desire was to have my sensors replaced and see what my upgrade options were for video doorbell, cameras, etc. I was trying to give ADT more business. Now I am beyond angry at the lack of any customer service and that I have spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone with your staff and they are untrained and incompetent. I will be moving on.
I emailed their email address that they post on replies to bad reviews. I'll see if they respond and make any effort at service recovery.

I got this system in April 2020. I was in a rental house and the agent said the system moves with you, no problem!
The system was Off for two days, due to network issues and again when I changed internet providers, for a day and a half, no concern if it was Off. I rarely set the alarm. They only called once, when I did a test alarm. I cleared the alarm. They have insisted that now that I have moved they want me to sign a new 3 year contract, I refuse! They also want me to buy new equipment for the new house! It was supposed to come with me and continue my contract. I am not happy with ADT and have steered away several that have asked me about it. My intention here is to forwarn others! Go with any other company.

For 7 days I have been waiting for an engineer, everyday I call I am told they will visit that day. For 4 days I have waited for management to call me back and nothing to escalate the matter. For 2 days I have waited for customer services to respond and still nothing. I have phoned 25 times in 7 days and still nothing

I am a new customer and this is the worse company I have ever had to deal with in my life. The sales consultant lies, customer service tells you one thing then another, there is mis communication between staff, awful customer service team, and if you want something resolve forget it the department that with deals complaints and reviews your case (customer solution team) are even WORSE they do not listen to you at all. This company does not put your safety first, it is all about how much money they can get out of you. Even if you are within your rights of cancellation, expect to pay a lot to come out of your contract, I really wish I had read all the bad reviews first, before contacting ADT to install their equipment.
Everything I have said it is completely true and ADT knows it, as they have apologise over and over again, but it does not change what you have put me and my family through. If there was an option for zero star you would of got that! Worse company to deal with.
Please ADT do not reply to say that you can help because you have fail to do that, I do not want to hear from you at all I have had enough talking to ADT for last 6 days.
EDIT: I am now free from this horrible company, I have now move house and didn’t take there security services with me, as the amount calls and emails and so much letters that came from them with different bills they were apologetic and gave credit back on to my bill after back and forth disputes with them now on a payment plan paying £20 a month to pay off my £1,300 cancellation fee to end my contract! My contract is now closed with them. I am so happy to be rid of there bad and awful customer service, customer resolutions and there engineers that do not turn up!

Extremely slow services. If you ask to talk to a supervisor they hung up on you or transfer you to tech support, which takes one hour of wait time. They make sure you won’t talk to anyone who is helpful.
ADT has the WORST customer service
ADT has the WORST customer service. And they use predatory practices like charging you an EXTRA MONTH after you cancel. There is absolutely no reason they need to charge an extra month, they just do so to steal your money.
They also WILL NOT let you just cancel over the internet. You HAVE to call them and be put on hold for 30-40 minutes and then speak to some lowlife who tries everything they can to convince you not to cancel and will refuse to expedite the process in any way. It took 30 MINUTES to cancel with the representative after waiting 40 MINUTES just to speak with them.
And watch as the useless ADT representative gives a response to these complaints pretending like ADT would actually do anything. That ADT representative is a weasel just like the company he works for. Yo ADT representative, do us a favor and STFU. Stop pretending like you actually help anyone on this site.
They got revenge because we switched to Vivint!
I am absolutely disgusted with ADT. We signed up for their services a year ago. We recently canceled because Vivint offered us a better deal, but when I called to cancel, the customer service lady told me I had to wait to pay the cancelation fee until I received a cancelation letter. That was weeks ago. Then this week, I received a monthly bill instead of a cancelation notice. I come to find out that they sent my cancelation fee straight to collections, and then sent me a bill for NEXT month which was tacked on to that amount! Horrible, vindictive business practice!!

Very Disappointed with ADT's customer service and will not be recommending ADT to anyone
I signed up with ADT at the beginning of last year and when I signed the contract I asked the person on the phone if when I moved I could transfer the service to the new property since the contract was for 3 years and they told me that would be fine. Now that I moved, ADT informs me that I would need to sign a new contract, with a slightly higher price, and would have to commit for 2 more years. Hence, the service cannot be transferred as I had been informed. Since I know that I won't be staying at this new property that long, that doesn't work for me, so they are telling me I have to pay almost $400 to cancel the service. Honestly I am very disappointed with their customer service and will not be recommending ADT to anyone.
