Customer service is the worst
Customer service is the worst! Takes forever to get my credit! Keep being put on hold with no resolutions. Three months and still no refund. Said the process was never started and may need to wait 120 days more!
Asked to talk to a manager and the rep I was dealing with, Who wouldnt give me her name again, put me on hold till it cut me off.

Many years ago, ADT was a reliable, honest and decent company. Today it is as useful as a chocolate fireguard on a cold winters night. I paid for an engineer to come out the next day - no one came, no one called, no one emailed. ADT was perfectly happy to take my money but dragged their heels over giving me my money back. I almost considered taking legal action against them. I feel sorry for those people who enlist ADT and give them 5 stars because they have no idea how bad this company has become or the endless phone calls, emails they will find themselves doing. It took me almost a month to get my money back from this disorganised company. Who today couldn't arrange a p!*s up in a brewery! Giving them 1 STAR is too good. The engineers who come out are pushed to the brink with not enough engineers to cover the jobs that are forced upon them. I have lost count of the number of times I called and the number of times I emailed. One person told me they needed a local manager to approve a repayment, a few days later they were able to make the payment without the local manager - a joke! ADT was one a glowing star high above and who I would have at one point recommended. Today the only recommendation I can make is to avoid them like the plague go with another company.

I’ve been with ADT many years and must admit they have got a very bad customer service. I’ve been waiting for updating my monthly payments for weeks. I’ve never received a letter via post as promised either. I had to eventually call a direct debit team today after realising my direct debit hasn’t been updated yet only because a person who I spoke to on the phone weeks ago haven’t informed a corresponding department that it needs to be altered. Person who I emailed few weeks ago hasn’t bothered to respond to my email either.
The issue eventually got resolved today by a nice and helpful person who knows what’s she’s doing.
AVOID being locked in a contract
AVOID. I've used ADT at multiple properties for years. my latest contract is ending with them in a matter of months/days. I am counting down the days. FIRST OF ALL, avoid any company that locks you into a contract. ADT locks you into a 3 year contract. Right now there are MANY competitors that have no contract situations. I had several bad situations while with ADT, including being broken into and the local alarm went off but it did not notify us on the app NOR the police. ADT did nothing and had no explanation. And they had very little to no incentive to address the problem (possibly because I was locked into this contract). Bottomline: with some much competition out there that requires no contract, avoid ADT.

i am a very UNHAPPY CUSTOMER with ADT!!!! when we had an adt salesperson come by my husband said ok to someone sharing the info with us. well the salesperson said that it was going to be at a low price and when the installer came over he said it was higher and i told him we could NOT afford that price so he got someone on the phone and got approval for lower price and the installer gave my husband last page of contract to sign and he did because he trusted him then later they saddled us with a higher price and basically said that sic their lawyer on us! so now we are saddled with the higher price!!! i am not at all happy with adt and because of the contract we are not able to cancel right now. pls make sure you read the contract before you sign and see how long the contract is for.

We've had multiple issues with ADT over the past two years. The first big issue was them sending the police to the wrong house. Since then, we've had multiple and technical issues. We recently;y moved and I called to inquire about a relocation. Gustavo A. created a contract and billed me WITHOUT any approval. When I called back, they canceled my service and billed me for it without my approval. Not only did I have a charge for the account I never agreed on, but I also have a cancellation fee that I did not expect to come out of my account. I got passed around to about 5 different people and I've had to call 3 times, each time taking over an hour. I then emailed them and Brittani Chaplin and Melina M. bothj said someone would reach out, and they never did.
This isn't a B.S. overblown review. They are a real headache to deal with and will not make an attempt to resolve any issue.

This is possibly the worst company ever for getting a call back or to get someone to take ownership once a mistake has been made. I rang on Friday to simply get a remote fob synced. The stupid engineer who rang me spent 1 hour waffling. In the end not only did he not get the remote fob to sync in the process he managed to turn off the whole alarm system for my house! It has never worked since. I then rang and was told an engineer would ring me that day. By Friday 15th October nobody had rang. So I called again and was told somebody from the retentions team woujd ring me. It is Tuesday 19th October today and I still have not had a call. Worse still is the fact that I sti don't have a working alarm system which I'm stil paying for. I have now tried to ring ADT 4 times each time I press option 2 to arrange an engineer visit the phone cuts me off. As soon as I can I am cancelling our contract with this cowboy company. Avoid at all costs.
ADT terrible financial management
ADT’s customer service is so bad one star is one to many! The financial department is totally incompetent. They are totally unable to capture payments accurately and don’t respond to e-mail or phone calls.
Very poor quality equipment
Their thermostats are totally unreliable. Technical Support work remotely is pathetic. Very disappointed thermostats function only about 50% of the time remotely. Looking for an alternative right now for two homes. I do not recommend a ADT

I asked for them to come out because the extender that they provided was not working at all. They charged me 135 dollars to come to my home to fix their faulty equipment. On top of the 25 dollars trip fee for a total of 172 dollars with taxes and all. I will never use them again. I cannot wait until my contract is up.
They literally do not want to help you at all. The staff is very nice but the company itself stinks.

I had such a bad experience from the beginning till now with a year left on my contract. I paid the $584 to get out of it. They are scammers, the sales guys lie, they put in a panel that was from the 90's it's huge. They were going to come back with a smaller one after they cut a hole in my laundry room and took the panel out of my bedroom and put it by the door.
I have 2 holes I need to patch. It's crazy. When I called to make the last payment I asked them if they could take some off the bill because my doorbell never worked after the clowns thought they fixed it.
The customer service rep said she had to transfer me to another department and I was on hold for an hour.
I am going with Simplesafe home security. This company stinks. Safe your money... go anywhere but here.
Awful experience
When you try to cancel, they make you wait forever. Then they don't tell you about the 3 year deal you originally signed, they just kind of slip that in after the fact. That's ok though, I will pay $10.00 a month until they get their money.......lol

ADT is theeee worst. Granted, I only have experience with security monitoring through ADT, but this just can’t be what one should expect. ADT, you have ONE job - provide a monitoring system that allows the customer to have a sense of safety/security. Please understand this can’t be accomplished when your equipment is constantly, I mean constantly, failing. Every month since I had my cameras/sensors installed, I have had to call about equipment either not working properly, or not at all. To add insult, they charge you to have a technician come out to troubleshoot. The service reps on the phone have been polite, but have no idea what they’re talking about. The technicians will all tell you something different.
I would go in to more details, but I need to get back to figuring out why my front door sensor is no longer working. Oh, and my back-of-house camera is no longer recording live clips. BTW- this isn’t the first time I’ve had these same issues. I have heard from technicians it was issue with inet - I have the fastest speed available in the area. They also blamed my electrical wiring - I paid an electrician to re-wire the doorbell chime. To which the electrician said ADT was full of it, but of course he was still happy to take my money anyway.
And don’t even get me started on the third party installers that come out and don’t tell you your products are not warranted since they weren’t installed by “ADT” - umm, he was in an ADT van. Beware, beware, beware.
Moral of the story, heed our warnings. Save yourself a lot of time, and headaches, and avoid this company at all costs. There must be better alternatives.

Absolutely awful service and years of having to put up with defective equipment. Getting an engineer to come to fix/replace the defective parts is near impossible and takes numerous phone calls to get anywhere.
If you look - the good reviews are only for installation- what does that tell you!!!

Just like all the other reviews, they lie, switch you around to different people, take money out of your account without permission, tell you to leave your equipment at old address and tell you they put in new equipment at no charge just have to pay for the monthly service and that’s a lie, still no answers, the only way is to cancel any ACH payments, don’t sign up with a credit card, and/or if you have another bank, transfer your money to it, other than that sue them…if you can’t afford that… you will forever pay them. I can’t believe with an 87 percent bad review rate, they are still able to continue to be in business!!!
I signed up under false information
I signed up under false information. I was lied to and critical information about the service was not disclosed. I attempted to cancel the service within a week after signing and my request was declined! I was asked to pay over $2000 to cancel. I feel trapped!
ADT is literally a scam
ADT is literally a scam. Multiple of my devices have stopped working and you have to PAY THEM TO FIX THEM. Not only that, you can't cancel if your unsatisfied. So if all your devices break, doesn't matter to them. You can pay more to have them fixed. THEY'RE NOT EVEN MY DEVICES. This is the worst customer experience I have ever had.

Wouldn’t even give it one star if I could. Their customer service SUCKS! My alarm system has not worked right for over a year. First time was told because my landline was disconnected and I only had cell. Said that was strange since my land line was disconnected years before. Was assured this was the issue. Paid 100+ for fix. Alarm still doesn’t work now pad says bf. Trouble shot over phone no fix. Told it was because of weather in Michigan (I live in Massachusetts). Told to wait a few weeks and it would resolve itself. It hasn’t. Call again so sane trouble shooting…no fix. But they still charge me 70.00 a month for monitoring even though system is not in working order to monitor. Now on hold for 20+ minutes to cancel my service. Could get rep. Immediately to add or change service but why the long wait to cancel. Buyer Beware!!! With so many other options out there stay clear of ADT unless you want to throw money away for no monitoring.
Worst equipment and service ever
Worst equipment and service ever. When trying to cancel they ended up sending more devices out to me. Now I'm forced to keep a service that is more of a hassle than a convenience or security. I do not recommend this service to anyone. The window sensors keep going off line, have to re-set them up every few days. Service sucks, they are nice when selling you the product but the moment you have a complaint the rep's are very persistent and rude and will not allow you to cancel services within the 30 day free cancelation time.
Stay away - unless you want to be held hostage by ADT!

I really wish I could add photos of damage as well as text and email exchanges with ADT personnel. I have text exchanges that show their shock at the damage as well as my telling the technician I would not acknowledge installation given the damage. I am very curious as to who acknowledged my installation since I didn't and the technician said it had to be acknowledged. I suspect fraud by ADT
Here is some of my experience: The day they came to install cameras, the technician said it was a two day job. Then, later in the day, he tells me that his manager wants him to get it done in one day. As a result, they were in my house from 9am - 8:30pm (absolutely ruined the schedule for my toddler). They didn't bring a new monitor for install and the technicians had no idea how to set up the camera monitoring app or motion detection (I still don't have motion detection). Additionally, ADT's "installation" created over $2,000 in damage to the interior of my house. And I'm still getting an estimate for exterior damage they created. Their Liability Department claims they will reimburse me but I doubt it given the lack of ethics at this company

It is almost impossible to cancel service. I have been trying for months. They put you on hold for longer than 20 minutes and the. They then make you listen to the sales pitch to stay with them(which includes threats that our own equipment that was installed when we built our house would be rendered useless with out even our chime working so we can’t switch service). At least 4 times I have gone through this process and then been “cutoff” before they process the cancellation. Unless you have hours to spend on the phone with them to cancel when you decide, don’t get started with them. NO customer service at all.
When I tried to cancel in writing, as stated below, I was advised it had to be by phone. It is not just waiting time either. The operators disconnect before you can finish the cancellation. It is shady at best.
Fraudulent Charges & constant interruptions to service
I was charged for a year when my security system was down because the company said our system was "under contract." The security system went up and down repeatedly and didn't work during any of our 3 international trips nor when a large screen tv was stolen from our property. I canceled the service, someone called and begged me to come back for $14.99/mo. and said that they would not charge for unfitting the system so that it would work. No one showed up on the date of the appointment. Two weeks later a service person came out without the part, berated me for not having the part (which was the whole point of the his service call) wandered in every room of my house and stayed for more than 2 hours until I told him to leave. Then I was charged Sept. 15, 2021 - after canceling again and getting no service - $15.04; September 21, 2021 $59.89 and August 27, 2021 $46.85 on my credit card. The company says they can't fix it and whatever I get charged on my credit card is an "oops." THIS IS A FRAUDULENT COMPANY with a long history of being around a long time. I'm with a new company and THRILLED to be paying less, have a system that works and great customer service. DO NOT get tangled up in a contract with ADT!
