Terrible Terrible Service
We were sent a notification from ADT who was suppose to come out to change a chip in our control panel waited around last Thursday the 21st and they were a no-show they called and said they were running behind and had to schedule again, I lost half a day of work/wages because of their no-show rescheduled again for today Tuesday January 26, Again took a half-day off they had a commitment from 12 noon to 5 PM and they were again a no-show. Called ADT they said they were going to be here at 6:40 never showed called again they said they were using a contract company and they would get a hold of the installation team and call me back. As of 8:15 this evening as I’m writing this review never had a call back again a no-show another half day of lost wages.
Previous to ADT we had guardian they were reliable and did a good job. ADT Purchased Guardian. The monthly service rate went up since ADT took over and the quality of service went down.
How could anyone expect them to respond to any kind of issue if this is the quality of service they provide.
I wish we still had guardian they were a good company now we have a substandard company this is not a good experience to have I am extremely disappointed their service is substandard.
I have worked in the telecommunications industry for several years and I have never seen this poor quality of service by anyone I’ve encountered.
If you’re reading this review I have a great recommendation for you look for another vendor who is more reliable which is something I plan on doing.
ADT if I could give you a zero rating I would in fact if I could give you a minus 10 I would do that you do not have a good customer focus you should be ashamed of the service you’re providing .

Have service with ADT for years. We are putting the house to the market , called to cancel the service, ADT’s customer service said we have to pay for a termination fee more than $900. They said I have no choice.
Anyone try to get an alarm for your home, please do not get ADT traps.
Worst company
Worst company. ADT Installed my alarm 3 weeks ago on Monday the 25th, my alarm panel went bad, call them and the quickest appointment they could give me was for the 29th, on the 26, my panel completely went dead I called them and made them aware that needed an emergency call, they wanted over $200 for a visit on an alarm that was installed three weeks ago...would not recommend this company to anyone

Have been a customer of ADT for 22…
Have been a customer of ADT for 22 years. Today I got a refund check for $257.00. So I said why would I get this🤔🤔. So I called ..... found out they canceled my service in September 2020. I pay every 6 months so didn’t realize these morons left me with out protection for almost 5 months. They canceled because they now went to 5G service and my service is 3G.....on phone 45 minutes transferred 4 times with no resolution..... bottom line... They are TERRIBLE AND NOT TRUSTWORTHY! No service and you don’t tell your customer they Symer exposed....DO NOT USE ADT!!!!!
Outdated business
Like many other reviews on here, the contracts are terrible and the business model is very outdated. If you cancel for any reason, you pay an enormous amount of money. We first used ADT in 2017, and four years later we paid over $450 to cancel. I'd recommend a more modern company.
Rebuttal to ADT tesponse
I received a reply to my review from ADT. They mentioned nothing about my concerns. The new homeowner did switch the alarm because the Nashville retailer has such a bad reputation- he not only told I could cancel but also stated once I sold my house and canceled that would be the end of my committment. The person I talked at ADT some fellow called JAZZ as much as called me a liar. He also threatened me with collections if I didn’t pay.

Horrible customer service and contract controls. Despicable. Wastes your time, tries to scam you out of more money. Extra charges for their errors. Hoops to jump through to get a tech to come, DAYS later. Faulty connections, continuous beeping for signal issues that cant be fixed. DISGUSTING COMPANY.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I've been a customer for 11 years. My bills was twice what they are advertising the rate for new customers. I called in and asked for a rate reduction. They offered me a $2 discount. I decided to go with a no-contract Simplisafe system. Called ADT to cancel, and the nightmare began. They transferred me 3 or 4 times with 15-20 minute wait times each time. Finally get someone on the phone who gives me a high pressure speech, and now can offer the new cheaper rate that they couldn't offer before. When I stick with my guns that I want to cancel, they tell me that they require a 30 day notice to cancel so I'll be billed for another month at the higher rate. I tell them that I don't agree with that, and they tell me it's "in my contract". I haven't been under a contract for many, many years. About an hour later, another ADT rep calls me - unsolicited - and gives me another high pressure speech and offers 2 months free, $14.99 for a year, and then $24.99 after that. When I am adamant that I want to cancel, she tells me she can't do anything and I'll be billed in full for another full month. I would NEVER do business with a company like ADT again.

The absolute worst... I will never use this company again and I would certainly never recommend them to a friend or family member. Multiple times they have given me misinformation and charged me inaccurately. Horrible experience and so glad I ripped their garbage out of my house.

I am upset with the installation of the monitor and the camera. First there is an extra hole in my wall I guess because the installer was incorrect about the measurements, Second the monitor is not neatly installed. The wall has to be repaired and painted. Installation date 1/23/21

THEIR CONTRACTS STINK!!! I no longer have the house that I needed this for yet I am on the hook for paying out the rest of the months of this contract. It is like having to pay car insurance on a car that has been totaled. You need to update your business model or you will go extinct!!!
ADT doesn't honor the 6 month guarantee
After spending over $3,100 to install this new ADT (Control) system, I've had nothing but faulty sensors and video not picking up movement. Now that I am trying to cancel service with my 6 month window, its clear ADT isn't honoring by giving the run around between corporate and the local branch. I was told I can't be "released" until the branch approved this.

What a joke. ADT is i left them a mesg. They called me back and i told them what i needed. They gave me a price of 27 something. Set up apt. And tec showed up. When he found out i did not have a land line price went up to 47 something .And excuse is because u dont have a land line. Then i dont even get a motion sensor cuz i have a large dog. Then why in the Fxxk dont they ask u that over the phone. Why waist my time and the tec time. Im am so so pissed. And im not stoping here. In December I accidentally set off the fire alarm. 20 Minutes later ADT calls to find out what is going on. If it had been a fire, it would have been another 20 minutes before the fire dept dispatched. Hmmm...my house would have been in ashes. So now I'm thinking why am I paying an outrageous fee for no protection. It took almost a day to find the right person to cancel service, no e-mail, no one answering phones. Their excuse, of course, is COVID. IF that were true then they should reduce their fees as an apology to their customers, may of us long time. I see that most comments are totally negative so how can this inept company stay in business?

The only good thing about this company is that it actually alerts the police when an alarm goes off legitimately.
We’ve been sitting here since noon (it’s now 6 pm) waiting for our guy to show up for an issue we have. Given a time slot of 12-5pm, (btw, who even does that anymore?? A time slot of a couple of hours I can understand). So he calls and says he’s on his way! We thought, Great, we can get on with our FRIDAY evening! That was 45 minutes ago. Where is he coming from, another state?? So we’ve now been sitting here for 6 hours waiting for ADT. Not sure it’s worth it. May have to go back to xfinity. Never had issues with them and they gave a reasonable time frame for the repairs.
ADT IS BY FAR THE WORST. EVER.
I bought my house 4 years ago and went with the first home security company I could think of (ADT). They installed 6 window and door sensors with a control panel that looked like it came from 1996. There were no cameras at all. This cost me about three hundred to install and 51 dollars a month. When I recently started seeing ads for newer systems from ADT with cameras and equipment from this decade, I called them to try and upgrade and get the lower prices I was seeing. They said I would have to pay another $350 dollars for the equipment and that I couldn't get that lower monthly price because that was for new customers only.
I called 2 more times trying to get someone to help me and finally decided to go with Xfinity. When I called ADT to cancel they gave me nothing but attitude and told me even though I had been a customer for 3 years they would be charging me for a full month after I canceled. A week later they took $20 out of my account and sent me a bill for two extra months, Even though they had already taken the 51 dollars from my account for my last month with them. My contract had ended with them months before this so these payments have nothing to do with cancelation fees. Their customer service is a joke. They are lazy, rude and even vindictive when you decide you have had enough and take your business elsewhere. BTW my new security system is less money and comes with too control panels, and two cameras with 24 / 7 recording. DO NOT give ADT ANY OF YOUR MONEY. They don't deserve your business. They seem to be ok with grabbing as much cash from their customers while their outdated ship goes down.
LESSON LEARNED...PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING
My home was robbed 12/28/2020 while we were away for Christmas. We called ADT to install a security system. They installed it on 12/30/2020. We immediately had an issue with it bypassing our carport door. With many calls and technical support coming out twice already, the problem still isn't solved. I called to cancel so that I can get a system to protect my home and family and they told me it would cost me $1400.00 to cancel because of 36 month contract on a system that NEVER worked! I write this in hopes to warn others before they get taken by this company. I feel like on top of being robbed on the 28th I was also robbed on the 30th. The problem could have been resolved with a part that costed $170.00 but instead of eating that charge they decided it would be better to sever the relationship of a lifetime customer. Please learn from my mistake and don't hesitate to reach out to me for further information.
SHADY and awful customer service AVOID
So disgusted with ADTs shady customer service. We purchased a home that already had the service and we were told by ADT we could transfer to our name and decide if we wanted to keep it. NOT ONCE on the call were we told we were now locked into a THREE YEAR CONTRACT. We never used the service and when trying to cancel, I was passed to 3 people without ever being told. You can barely hear them on the phone and when I would say I couldn’t hear them they would say ok one moment, put me on hold and I would get sent to another person!!!!! Finally spoke to a supervisor who told me we signed a contract. When I explained my husband sent the DocuSign back to the rep while on the phone, being told it was to transfer service to our name and had no idea it was a 36 month contract, she literally replied “so he signed the contract without reading it?” Absolutely SHADY!!!!!!! My fee to cancel was $690, the best they could do was discount that by 50%, then she asked me if I wanted a new rate of $21/mo when I’ve been paying $48/mo this whole time!!!! Again, SHADY!!! We are out so much money for something we didn’t want to commit to in the first place, and the process of calling and being on the phone for over an hour, poor connection on their end, useless staff that seem to be reading scripted lines in low, mumbling voices, just makes me even more glad to be done with the service because had I needed to actually use it, WHO IS GOING TO HELP ME? I’ll stick to my Ring system. We at least know now not to refer ADT to our property and casualty insurance customers. We will in fact make sure all our insurance customers know NOT to use this shady, unreliable company.

Horrible customer service, you get passed around from one incapable person to another until you have wasted half your day. And if all else fail they pass you to their skinny little cousin Blue by ATD only to find the great offer your getting is for completely different hardware than offers be ATD. A horrible company that does not care for looking after your interest just taking your money.
Horrible, nonexistent service
Most importantly, since I moved, my mailbox has been full of their promotional mails, and today I even had a salesperson show up at my door, with NO MASK.
Also, horrible service, impossible to cancel initial installation appointment. I keep calling corporate and tell them I want to cancel, they instantly transfer me to adt north(don't even try to help) who keeps telling me they don't have me set up for an appointment, so it must be through corporate. But corporate won't help me cancel. How can you trust a company to protect your home when their service reps can't be trusted? and I see countless reviews complaining of faulty monitors/sensors, scamming customers into contracts, etc. How is this supposed to be the number 1 security monitoring service provider they claim to be? Total scam, just want your money, would never recommend to anyone. Don't understand how they're still in service? Bye ADT.

We had ADT installed in May of 2020, and it has been nothing more than a HUGE disappointment one right after the other. I have had to call multiple times over things that they installed incorrectly. The most recent issue is a sensor that is bad, after being on the phone with them for over 45 minutes they refuse to come out because i have pneumonia that is NOT related to Covid and have been on antibiotics for a week. They do not care that my security system is down and I have not been able to use the system in a couple weeks. So we are paying for the sound piece of mind that our home is NOT PROTECTED AND we are paying for this service because of a contract!!! It would be nice if the company was easier to deal with. This is not the first issue we have had.

Absolute Trash!! Worst Experience ever! Constantly had a issue with my system, but they said they were monitoring it just fine. But it kept saying an update wasn't downloading properly. Finally got a way to clear it from a friend that works there, and kept coming back. My alarm went off 4 times 0 contact about it at all. Finally I switched to Ring, and removed all sensors, and unplugged everything. I didn't contact them for 2 weeks to see what would happen. They never called, and never checked in to see if everything was ok. Finally I called to cancel and they had on hold for 2 hours on the phone to finally cancel, and had a guy try to haggle me to stay after you wasted 2 hours of my time, and didn't check my system for 2 weeks NO THANKS. Went on their website selected paid all balances owed, and paid it all right then and there same day then get a bill for $7.22 in the mail the following month that I had to pay. Then they start calling me "trying to get my business back" harassing me! Maybe if you cared about it when you had it I woulds till be there! Raised the prices and weren't even watching my system! Do not use them they are horrible it is a rip off scam! The installation is the only positive thing I can say about them their service of 1-10 is 0 no one was watching my home!
Bait and switch
Bait and switch is a morally suspect sales tactic that lures customers in with specific claims about the quality or low prices on items that turn out to be unavailable in order to upsell them on a similar, pricier item. It is considered a form of retail sales fraud, though it takes place in other contexts.
I was told when I called the 800 sales number that I wanted a system that will work with my smarthome system and to be able to control it with my app and I wanted two glass brakes and 3 door sensors and fire protection, The sales rep. told me that was no problem and asked for all my information which I gave him. He then told me that I qualified to have the install fee for the $65 a month till the price of the system and installation was paid off then it would be $45 a month.
The tech was supposed to be onsite at 9am. No showed so I called and I was told he will be there at noon. I had to leave to go to work so my 23-year-old son stayed at the house for me waiting for the tech. Tech showed up around noon and my son called me so I could talk with him, I told him what I told the sales guy and got off the phone.
I traveled for work so when I came home 3days later I found out that..
1) The tech was onsite for 4hrs and had only installed 3 (Lic them and stick them) door sensors and one smoke detector and that was it.
2) Then he charged my wife CC $290.23 for the install. instead of the $82.99 at the time of install.
So was gone for 3 days at work before I found out about all this and when I called to get answers I was constantly passed around 8 different times(Had to explain the whole story every time) then was told that I would have to pay extra for the ADT connect and the glass breaks and an additional install charge and NO ONE could explain to me why my wife's credit card was charged $290.23.
So I got to the point where I just said to cancel it and come pick up the equipment from the front porch, the guy I was on the phone with said ok let me transfer you to contracts. I was put on hold for a second and was hung up on. I was furious at this point I was on the phone for a total of 1hr and 23mins. I then called back to 1800 238-2727 and started the process all over again but this time I got Emmalee H. who helped me with some questions and then I was put in touch with Mariah S. who helped figure out what happened and set me up on a contract (seeing the original one was not done correctly) and got me squared away with a new appointment to have the install corrected. At this point I am now at 3hrs and 45mis of my time to get this resolved and am still working with Mariah S
I will be leaving it at one star for multiple reasons but I give Emmalee H. and Mariah S five stars for customer service.
I will also be using this example with my Customer care team at my office as a good training opportunity on what not to do.
PS. Mariah S and Emmalee H. if you need a job I'm always looking for good team members.. Just saying.
HI Carla, The same time I did the original post I sent a copy of this to alwaysthere@. Seeing that ADTs reply to all the other negative posts was some saying exactly what you just replied so you already have that information.
Update 1/20/21
Not only have I not heard back from "Carla" but they have not credit my wife's credit card the $280 and on top of that as of this morning ADT has just charged an additional $475.50 to my wife's credit card so we are up to $765. For a system that's not even installed properly. We have reported it to the back as a fraudulent charge and are contacting the BBB.
Update 2/1/2021
Never heard back from "Carla" so I kept making multiple calls and finally, our money was returned but things didn't get better. I still didn't get a response on some other concerns and then other things came to light to my wife that she now doesn't feel comfortable keeping the ADT system (ADT techs using the built-in cameras to spy on women and listening in to conversations) and so on. So we have not only unplugged the one system, we have canceled the install that we had scheduled to add the proper gear that I requested in the first place. That's when we were told that we needed to contact the people who have installed it to have it uninstalled. I've reached out Brad Wheeler at ADT.com and at 253-948-9102 with no response. So I started to remove all the equipment myself (All 5 items) 1) wireless motion,1 wireless smoke detector, 1) wireless keypad that was sitting on my kitchen counter and 3) wireless door contacts. Also, for some reason, the door contacts were put on with clear silicon, not the adhesive strips that normally come with them so I clean the silicone off the doors. So maybe that's why it took the install 4hrs to do the install? See, I'm confused about that as well seeing that I myself installed 17 wireless devices from Ring alarm In one hour for less money today and that was with a wall fish because I wanted cat 5 to the Ring base, So do your research and save
