If there was a rating less than 1 I will give that . ADT is a total rip off and a most importantly a BIG SCAM.....compared to other products available in market ADT is a trash
They wouldn’t even allow to record & save more than few videos and when I was asking to cancel the service they say I need to provide a “secret Number “ which they never gave me. When asked for the number they said they will send it in post which never arrived and they do this avoid cancellation of a useless humbug service....AVOID ADT at any cost.
Complete scam
Complete scam. Don’t move or they want to charge over 500 dollars to set equipment. We were specifically told by the sales guy that we would not have to pay an installation fee if we moved. But because our adt contract was sold to their corporate office they just get to charge whatever they want now. And if you move they make you extend your contract so you stuck with them longer. We had been an ADT customer for 4 years…
We had been an ADT customer for 4 years (2 years longer than our contracted period). After numerous equipment failures and one break in that never triggered the alarm, we finally decided to change providers. We notified ADT that our contract was completed two years prior and that we were moving on.
About 6 months later we received a collections notice from an outside agency for $450 in delinquency with ADT. We shared our story and we were advised to call ADT directly.
We spoke to someone in customer service, who was very abrupt and did not seem to care that we had been a customer (on auto-pay) for 4 years and had cancelled this service. We were told that regardless of them missing our notification, the money was still due as THEY did not turn off the services. I am fairly, sure they could check and see that the system was not armed at any point during that time. The router they use had been disconnected when we called.
ADT is not a protection company, they are in fact a collection company. They are unable to admit when they made a mistake and seem to be very concerned about extracting revenue from customers that fulfilled contracts with prompt payments. There are far better services out there. Find one - just not ADT.
We still have contracts on several other business we own. When they are up - we will be migrating them.

ADT is fraudulent
ADT is fraudulent. I had their alarm system installed in my home one year and nine months ago. Everything was fine until a few months ago when my alarm started chirping like a fire detector with a low battery.
I called them at least 5 times and walked through a process to try and stop the chirping each time. Every time the sound just returned. Finally after many calls I spoke to someone that told me the error I was getting was a problem with ADT internal software and the panel needed to be replaced. I was told there would be a $150 fee to have a tech come replace it.
I was appalled that they would charge me for their software problem and opted to just cancel instead.
I was transferred to their customer service group who I guess tries to retain their customers. She explained to me that I didn’t have their service package (which was never offered to me) but that they would send someone out to replace the panel free of charge.
When the tech came he did not want to replace the panel. Instead he said he spoke to someone and that he could fix the issue without replacing it. 5 minutes after he left it started chirping again. I called him and he came back. He did something else, said he would wait in his van outside and to call him if it happened again. It happened again and we repeated this at least twice more until he finally replaced the panel.
The next day I realized that he forgot to reprogram my key fob so I called and ADT sent someone else out to do it, again free of charge since the other guy made the mistake.
A few weeks later I got a bill for $639 for these tech visits. I have called ADT several times. Each time I was told it would be credited off of my account.
However, I am now getting collections emails and calls for this “past due balance”. I was told today that only $94 was credited and I owe the rest. I should have just cancelled in the first place.
Hopefully, the customer service rep who I spoke to today can get someone to fix this. She told me she was sending emails to management because she is not able to credit the account. They were not supposed to charge me in the first place. Now they are harassing me even with all these recorded calls of their customer service reps telling me this was free and that it was credited.
They provide a false narrative and fraudulently charge you. How can I owe $639 for something I was told would cost $150 but that they would do free of charge? If they have an internal software problem with their equipment I don’t see how that should be charged to their customer.

I dont even know where to begin with this company. For starters ADT Sales agent Jamison Fairfield came up to my front door looking for a sale on multiple occasions. He misrepresented the contract, ommitted contractual facts and blatantly lied to my face when i asked him if there was cancellation fees because i have a newborn and do not want to get tied to an expense. He blatantly lied to my face and said i can cancel whenever i want.
Of course 10 months in and I call ADT to cancel due to an issue with the system not working properly and I am told unwittingly that I am in 3 year contract and if cancelled i have to pay 75% value of the remaining months. Immediatly i am appalled at the fact that this company has so blatantly committed fraud, ommitted contractual facts, mispreresented without disregard, and takes no responsibility.
The phone agent eventually transferred me to an escalations team member and all they wanted to do is just get me off the phone and did the bare minimum to acknowledge my complaint.
Thats not even the worst part, the sales agent that blatantly committed fraud with no disregard now calls my pregnant wife to harrass her. He tells her that her husband (myself) gave him her number to call and proceeded to call her a liar, she isnt even on the contract. And at no point did i provide nor give him permission to contact my wife to harrass her. Luckily I was near by and she was able to put me on the call. I told him exactly what he did to my family and how he lied, ommitted contractual facts, misrepresented. He lied to my wife on the phone about me giving him permission to contact her and it shows
how lying and fraud comes so naturally Jamison. I cannot believe what ADT has done to my family. Committed fraud and now sends the fraud committing agent to harrass us. This company disregards the law and ethics while taking no responsibility for its actions.
Beyond disappointed, negligent Customer service
Beyond disappointed, have been clients of ADT for over 8years v expensive system installed and now for last two weeks no resolution, no monitoring restored despite repeated promises from ADT customer service. Two nights ago break in at neighbours so we are even
more concerned now.
Still no follow up despite emails from ADT stating they would restore this promptly and yet we are still paying, not sure what for?

ADT offered me a letter for the police stating the camera were unable to pick up the crime.... twice.... I would not let this company protect my dog house. This is the most dishonest bunch of crooks ever. One of the door sensors fell off my garage door and when I called they told me it would be $145 to replace it. Thus is your equipment that you installed. As a veteran I can't believe that USAA is recommending them. I will go to their website next to complain to USAA about ADT. I tried to cancel my service but no one is available till Monday. It will be the first thing I do Monday morning. DO NOT use these crooks

ADT is the absolute worst. They lie, try to manipulate you into reviewing contracts, and their service people don't call or show up. After we cancelled out of contract, they still charged us for another month because they said it takes 30 days to actually cancel an account. Do not sign up with these crooks.

ADT service is confusing, dishonest and I can’t believe USAA is recommending it as an honest company to do business with.
I was the owner of rental property that had two house on the same lot therefore two accounts.
The first three months I kept getting late notices at no fault of my own. Letters came that threatened legal action.
Finally a person figured out that it was a software issue of your billing cycle.
I never once was asked if I received my contract with ADT. The whole sign up info was taken over the phone. No email telling me where I could find or download a copy.
Then fast forward 4 years. I decided to put the property. I didn’t cancel my service while it was up for sale. I didn’t know when it would sell so I couldn’t give 30 days notice without losing money. Boy was I wrong.
When the sale finally went thru I cancelled my service. The agent never once told me that if I waited 30 days that would keep me from having to pay the balance of my contract of which I knew nothing about. I thought ADT was a month to month service.
Then I get this email from an email address that doesn’t show anything to do with ADT. I’m really lucky I opened it. It explained that I had to call to make arrangements to pay the balance of my contract.
I called the number but was shuffled off to 3 different people before the sweet lady finally had the guts to tell me I owed $800 to pay the balance of my contract.
$800 for nothing, no service. Nothing!
You are asking a Veteran’s widow on a fixed income to pay for something she will never use and needs the money to live on for food, and electricity.
I’m shocked that USAA refers your company. That is the only reason I used your service anyway.
I can’t believe how you treat Veterans that have risked their lives so that you can rob them of money that they have worked hard for to give you freedom.
I asked that you change your policy for future veterans and their families. This is so wrong on so many levels.

This Company is ridiculous spent over an hour and 45 minutes being transferred to 8 different people who would not process an simple request how the hell are they going to protect my home. All they needed to do was cancel an appointment i have with them and no one knew which department to send me to and kept sending me in circles. Even the managers were incapable of helping.

Got ADT installed February of 2019. During the time of installation we opted to remove a product. A credit was never applied to the account. I tried to cancel my account and the agent told me in order to cancel my contract, I would have to pay over $500 or relocate the system to my new address. When I instructed them I will not be able to relocate the equipment, they said I have no other option but to pay. I asked her not to process the cancellation yet. 3 days later, I received an email of cancellation. When I called in, within 16 minutes of me being on the phone, I had spoken to 4 agents who all insisted the next department will be able to help me. I finally asked to speak to a supervisor who said, it's in your contract so you'll have to pay it. There are no other options. I have offered to provide my lease or any documentation needed stating I won't be there anymore and she said I still have to pay it because it was a three year contract. I asked if there was there ever an option for anything other than 3 year contract, she said no. No other options but three years are offered and there's no exceptions to cancel prior to three years which was not explained during time of purchase. One agent in account management offered to reduce some products on the account to make the overall price cheaper however, there is no breakdown of the monthly charges on the contract. On the contract it simply says standard monthly service $49.99. With the agent removing the additional products, it is half the price we have been paying for 2 years and should have been an option offered from the beginning. The contract does not mention anything about relocation or termination of leases. My father pays half the price for his alarm system at a different company and receives better options. The online monitoring has not worked in months, when I mentioned that to ADT they stated they can't see that, I'm not sure why I'm paying for monitoring if they can't monitor.

I have had A D T for a number of years but rarely used it. I decided begin using it only to discover it had to be updated. I tried for weeks to make a morning appointment to get the technician to come out and update the system to cellular only to repeatedly have someone come in the afternoon when I could not be available. I tried calling in advance to get confirmation of arrival only to be told I didn’t have an appointment or to have someone confirm then show up anyway in afternoon. I spent hours on the phone trying to simply get an appointment at a morning time and realized the adt didn’t communicate between depts or enter data in a computer as no one seemed to know about prior phone calls or appointments. I finally realized that any company that couldn’t simply set up and keep a service appointment could be worked with. The stress and time waste were insane. So I terminated my account. I am not sure who trained the customer service, but apparenetly some of them are very unprofessional. I had to call in becasue we had a tripped wire and the lady on the line keep telling me to find a big box with ADT sign one it and plug connected to it, and I need to unplug and replug. We had neither becasue the box is blank without any wording or image and the there is no plug connected to it, the box was wired to the breaker box by fixture. I've explained everything I see around the box and the lady keep telling me to find something I don't have. Then she told me I need to buy a new backup battery becasue the current one is dead, I don't understand why it would be dead and she wouldn't explain it to me. I asked for a technician to check if everything is functional with the system, and she told me I had to pay $120 for the visit. Why would I pay the monthly fee if you don't even bother to maintenance the system? Today I had to call in for low battery because I don't know which device is dying. No surprise I get another lady keeps telling me to find something I don't have, I was wondering if they could send someone over to check, and here is comes, request of charge $120 for the visit. I don't want to waste my time and said goodbye. This is nuts. I put in two stars becasue a lady actually helped me in the end. I called again to register to the online portal the nice lady on the line not only helped me register and also figured it for me which one is bepping, and send me battery free of charge. I wish there is rating option at the end of the phone calls, at lease to bring attention to the underperformed ones and praise the agents who can actually do customer service.
You can't trust what ADT tells you.
We've had ADT for a while, and decided to upgrade to ADT Pulse so we could arm/disarm remotely. They said that a tech would have to come out to "reprogram" the system, and that it would cost $99.
I waited days for the tech, and when he came, he said that there really wasn't any "reprogramming", just a minor adjustment. But it required re-pairing the 2 key fobs used to arm & disarm. I had one handy, but not the other. He said "No problem, just call ADT and they can talk you through it."
So I got the 2nd one several days later and called ADT. They said they couldn't talk me through it - that it would take another tech visit and that the visit was another service charge, for something that takes 30 seconds --- it's absurd. ADT says they don't have the installation code, that only the installers have it. Well, I've never had the same tech twice - so they're getting it from SOMEWHERE.
If my company treated customers like that, we'd be out of business in no time.

I am so displeased with the service it failed me so many times. I stressed to them I want to cancel and then they signed me up for another five years without my permission. I want to cancel and get the run around. I want them to stop my service asap and fix the whole they put in my wall. This is horrible and I will never get ADT EVER AGAIN. I get transferred and get excuses please help me please this is a nightmare.
ADT has literally turned into the worst…
ADT has literally turned into the worst company. My home was burglarized on 11/20. Of course none of my neighbors could hear the alarm even going off. I called ADT to get estimates on installing the bull horn for added sound and the cameras for the inside. They kept rescheduling my camera estimate so I finally hired another company to do the camera install and cancelled my new install appointment. 12/7 a random man shows up to my home saying he is with ADT to reset my system. Seeing how o was unaware of this appointment and I had just been robbed I called ADT and was told “we don’t have any work orders for you, don’t let him in”. I come home after work on 12/8 only to find that my alarm is not working. I try and log in my app and it says “sign in successful but you don’t have access to the site”. I tried calling ADT all night long and was given a recording saying I’m a mew client. Obviously I wasn’t able to sleep all night. I call at 0700 when they first open for calls and have been transferred to 10 different people, none are able to help Mrs the customer service is horrible. They hang up on you when they can’t figure out what the issue is. Finally a “supervisor” who is clearly in the bathroom speaking with me tells me that when I cancelled the bee camera install someone cancelled my full account. Never did I authorize this, didn’t give a security question and didn’t even receive a cancellation confirmation. Basically anyone can go in and just cancel your alarm without your consent or authorization. This is the WORST security company ever. They offer zero verified security. If you just want a system to light up then this is the way to go but for actual customer service, response time, security ADT IS THE WORST DECISION I EVER MADE! as I sit here on the phone after hours I still have no solution because none of their staff actually care.

ADT customer service over the phone sucks. I called 877-464-7437.
I spoke with “Daisy” around 11:30am EST on December 9th,2020.
She disconnected the call two times and never tried to call back. I spoke with another agent who was helpful, and could not get through to Daisy even though I asked to be transferred to her to since I had already told her all the issues I was having with installing my ADT system. Someone needs to address this with her.
