ADT Becoming Increasingly Incompetent
We've had ADT for years and they've become increasingly incompetent. Twice in the last year, our alarms have gone off and no call to the house or the police. Today, after having an appointment set for a month, they call 3 days before our camera install appointment to test and say our upload speed isn't enough. How about testing it when we make the appointment? Forget these clowns, we're changing companies.

Sick with worry
We are having an awful experience, we had trouble in our neighbourhood with the Police turning up at all hours, then an ADT salesman came knocking on the door. I am registered disabled, and my wife was scared of the situation at the time and that, with the promise of security by the salesman had me signing on the dotted line. The technician was back pronto and fitted the system, and there it sat for the next year or so, not once been used, as there is someone at home all day due to my disability and mobility issues. We ran into financial difficulties and £30 a month for something not been used at all seemed ridiculous, especially with us facing help from a local food bank, so I called ADT who informed me I had signed into a three year contract and I would have to pay the rest of the contract to get out, now over £600. I felt sick, and it is really worrying, especially now that they have Spratt & Endicott solicitors determined to run us down, their latest email with copies of the contract and a statement for £648.15 is telling us to update them when we are going to contact our Citizens Advice Bureau, which for me is difficult to get to,(middle of a park, with no disabled parking close by) and I haven't been able to access anyway due to Covid19 as I am in the vulnerable group. I just cant afford it, unless we stop paying the rent and buying food, and I am risking everything by going out to the CAB. Now just waiting for a CCJ which will help me with my life no end. Avoid ADT at all cost
Avoid ADT at all cost! Signed up with them one year ago when we moved to a new house. Technicians are unreliable, customer service will lie to you every time since there is no accountability and the company doesn’t care about their reputation. I’m a surgeon and my wife is also a hospital frontline worker. She took a day off for the technician to install our system and they never showed up. No call, no email, nothing. I call them back 5 days later in between patients and customer service tells me the installation team is « very busy ». They advise me to keep on calling them until they call me back to set up a new date. Not only do they not show up but they want me to run after them to install a service they are supposed to provide under our contract. We finally coordinate a new install date 2 weeks later after 3 days of cat and mouse phone tag. Installer shows up and asks if anyone works in a hospital in Michigan since we’re a border city in Canada. I took the day off for this installer and he tells me he can’t come in the house since my wife works in the United States. We both work throughout this pandemic to take care of our communities but ADT won’t install our system even if she’s not in the house. Since then I’ve spent 3 hours on the phone with 5 different reps. They have all lied to me and said management will call to cancel my contract within 48 hours. It’s been 5 days and haven’t heard a peep. We’ve been in our house for a month without a security system and ADT is holding 1100$ termination fee over our head if we leave them.

CORONAVIRUS!!!!
Today 07/21/2020 my father was suppose to have a technician come and install ADT and he informs us he had the Covid 19 virus!!!! He could barely breathe and eyes was red!! I told him to leave and he had the nerve to ask me to lie to the dispatcher and say my father was ill I told him Hell No!!!he kept calling my phone until I told him to get off the property now! He from a company out of Huntsville Alabama I don’t know his name but I have his cell number. I called ADT corporate and they have done nothing but hang up on me I am currently on my 5th call. I don’t even want ADT in my home now . ! This is CRAZY !!!!!

ADT over charging and not allowing customer to sign after the job is complete
My husband and I have been with ADT for over 22 years. Every door every window is alarmed. We have motion detectors and cameras inside and out of the house. We recently have put an addition on the front of our home. That meant that the wireless alarm sensors that were on the old windows needed to be moved to the windows of the addition. The camera that was at the front of the house needed to be moved to the new front of the house. I had two technicians come to the house they were very nice they moved all the sensors to the new doors and windows. They told me to have my electrician move the camera because it would cost us too much money through ADT. My electrician was not available when the front of the house came down so the contractor removed the camera by cutting the wire.. But he did not hook it up to the side of the house which is now the new entrance. He's not electrician. Keep in mind that I had already told the technicians that the camera at the front of the house was not working properly we just got black and white pixelations you could not get a clear picture. I showed the technician the poor picture quality on my phone. The technician told me you need a new camera your camera is old and they don't make it anymore it needs to be replaced. 2 weeks later the same technician comes out to put the new camera up on the new front door and to put a sensor on the door to the garage that he missed at the last visit. He was very uncomfortable in my home. I had several people working here none of them had masks on, that was their choice. The two technicians from ADT had their masks on but you could tell they were uncomfortable. They could have left and come back another day I would have been fine with that. They quickly got the camera up and the sensor on the door and they wanted out of the house. I was ready with my checkbook. I asked to sign and pay my bill the technician said it's not necessary ADT Will Bill you and he briskly walked out of my home. A week later I receive a bill for an hour and 45 minutes of his time and for a brand new camera. A few dollars short of $1,000. The technician got to my home at 8:42 in the morning left at 9:22 in the morning. He billed me for an hour and 45 minutes also billed me for a brand new camera I have maintenance plan that I pay for. The camera should have been covered under my maintenance plan. For some reason he had a stick up his butt that day and because my contractor cut the wire he said I had to pay for brand new camera. Even though the old camera was not working. If I would have left the front of the house up I would have gotten a new camera for free. But because my contractor cut the wire to the camera I have to pay for a new camera. I received my bill I called ADT I told them I would give them $50 a week until this was rectified you're charging me for a bill that I did not verify. They do not have my signature for this job. I have spoken to 7 ADT Representatives. Have explained to each and every one of them. Told each them I would give $50 a week until it was rectified. I just got off the phone with a woman she said that she would take $169 off the bill for his time but I'm going to have to pay for the camera. I told her that I still wanted someone to address the camera issue because the brand new camera does not work and I am not going to pay for camera that doesn't work. Once the sun goes down it looks like the cameras in murky water. She said to me the only way that I will give you this discount is if you give me money right now. Keep in mind I just gave them $50 on Friday today is Tuesday I've been giving them $50 a week. I told her to send me the bill so I could see set the discount has been applied. She said the only way that she would give me the discount is if I paid the bill right then in there. Even with the discount I would still have to give them $500. I don't know about anybody else but I don't have $500 hanging around to give ADT on a Tuesday. I've spoken to seven people nothing was put in the computer about my situation. They don't even make mention that I'm giving $50 a week all I do is get harassing phone calls to pay the bill. To a customer that has been with them for over 22 years. My husband and I are looking for other alarm system companies ADT has now lost our business.

I'm at my wits end...
I'm at my wits end... We've been with ADT for a number of years. Had a system installed at our old house and never had any issue. When we were about to move, I called to discontinue service since we didn't have a new house yet. The account rep urged us to put the account on hold and call them back when we moved. He said we wouldn't have to pay another activation fee or sign a new contract. Big lie. We agree to a simple service with Pulse and a video doorbell. They said it would be $100 for the install and $200 for the video doorbell. We end up getting service for our new house and about 5 minutes after the tech left, ADT Pulse stopped working and the Video Doorbell wouldn't stop ringing all night. They uninstalled the doorbell the next day and said the charged would come off our bill. Bigger lie. It's been about 2 months and countless calls to the main line and the local branch and we're still getting charged the $200 for a doorbell we don't have. I've told my credit card company to reject the charges, but ADT puts it back on the bill. The local branch agrees we shouldn't be charged, credits our account, but then it gets put back on the next day. And since we were lied to about new contracts, they won't let us cancel our account without getting charged a penalty. Avoid this company at all costs!

Customer service is a joke
Customer service is a joke, after being on hold for two hours they just decided to hang up on me because they did not like what i was saying. they did not deliver what they said they will and now when i asked to cancel my service they wanted to charge me over $1,100... ripoff.. I just wish i saw these reviews prior to me buying their service. I will make it my mission to let everyone i know and don't know about the horrible cheating ways they do business with.

ADT IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST!
Our experience with ADT was the absolute WORST!! Let’s start by day 1, tech got here around 2pm sold us the job, then took him until 11:30 to install double stick tape sensors! What a f’n joke, so unprofessional if you ask me. Then, get this, he couldn’t get the system to work before he left! After all that time we wasted having him here we still didn’t have a working system. We call Sunday to cancel our service and of course nobody can help us because they don’t work on Sunday's... so that’s one more day without security. Monday comes and we are told we have 2 days to get a cancellation in the mail or we will be locked in. I made sure to get it in the mail ASAP and we started taking down all the equipment that day since we were going back to Comcast. We got notified that our cancellation was approved and of course had to waste more time for another tech to come out and “uninstall” even though we already did all the work ourselves. Now, I’m getting a bill in the mail for 172.05! WT*! What a complete scam. We have called the 4 times and they don’t see the charges but it sitting right in front of me with a bill date of August 1st even though we were cancelled as of mid June! They try to tell me there is only a charge of $17 on the account, but why is there any charge! The service didn’t even work when we had it! They should know that, the tech had to call his boss multiple times to try to get it to work and they kept insisting to send someone else out to fix it. They knew it wasn’t working properly. Also found out that the tech that installed our equipment was fired that week... wonder why... 😡. We shouldn’t have any charges!

Very poor billing servIce. ADT Security System has the worst…
ADT Security System has the worst billing system. Called to cancel my service and got such a bad run around. Then I learn they said....that MY account was being credited as a month late. My bill was do the 5th of each month, I paid end of prior month for my payment to arrive on time for the due month. They told me that's not how it worked. BEWARE OF ADT BILLING PRACTICES.

Garbage service & inconsiderate
Garbage service with inconsiderate & unprofessional staff. We've had ADT for a few months & each month has been something new from problems with the cameras to the sensors & now billing! Long story short, make sure you ask if you will get charged because apparently, they'll gladly send someone to help then surprise you with a bill. No receipt, no explanation, nothing. Meanwhile, it was to fix a problem with a sensor that was put in the 1st day we signed up. Whoever the manager "Shawnee" is, does not know how to treat customers nor does she care if you decide to use other security services. Do yourselves a favor & chose a company with working equipment & professionals.

Equipment cannot stay in communication…
Equipment cannot stay in communication with cell tower and console constantly chirps. Customer support is the worst. Two reps hung up on me or put me on hold and the disconnected. Time to find a new company.

I got my system installed 7/10
I got my system installed 7/10. Decided to try it and learn how it works and realized the move sensors were not working. After multiple call and talking with so many different people got for someone to come check my system on Wednesday 7/15 and same guy that did installation came to check. He told me this moving sensors were giving the company some problems. After checking for 2 hours nothing happen so I told him I was going to cancel service and he told me I need it to call the 800 number and I did. Again after feeling like a ping pong ball going from one side to the other was able to get a “NEW” technician to come today. He told me the problem were not the sensors but the were installed upside down, REALLY? So I not only didn’t have a working system till today but I had already got the first bill. Not even offered an upgrade or anything to make up this terrible mistake. Very disappointed as new customer.

Today, I feel I have dodged a bullet. Recently purchased a home with an ADT system already installed. I wanted to have a monitored home protection and attempted to have service transferred. In the interest of time, will not detail the bad experience I had (such issues repeatedly detailed already by other reviews here) other than report that the agent I was speaking to offered the meaningless “I am sorry “ for the difficulty I endured prior to speaking with her. She promised the call I was having with her, would be the last call I would need to make. Shortly thereafter, we got disconnected (or maybe hung up on) and did not hear back. Suspecting what I experienced was common with ADT, I Googled reviews for this company and came to this site and got enough of an eye and earful to stay away. To confirm just how little concern ADT to has for complaints, I noticed the their responses were similar worded (basically cut and pasted) no matter what the complaint. In other words, get lost. My take is ADT is a once great company that has deteriorated and now relies on name recognition and then trapping customers in 3 year contracts. While under contact they know customers are forced to pay their monthly fees and ADT can provide as poor as a service as they want to. I will take the advice of many reviewers and run from this company. Sounds as though their bad reputation is well deserved. Think I will just get dog.

Character speaks louder than achievements. ADT missed that memo.
Catch phrases & sale pitches where within their script manage to get information from (ie. DOB & last 4 of SS) the run credit with NO PERMISSION. After that try to nail you down with your CC information. I caught on at that point & would NOT give any CC info. This seems to "urine" their sales staff off to where they transfer & transfer to others who give the same sales pitch over & over again. New person has a "better deal" then asks for your CC. By this time they had already ILLEGALLY ran my credit with NO PERMISSION, (the phone call did not end well) & then called back a second day trying to sell me again. SCREW YOU ADT. No way in hell I'm going to have a company with sleazy sales tactics & "holier than thou" personnel protect anything. Nice pitch from Jeffery though "We protect the White House, we have Federal Contracts"... really??? I don't care. Character speaks louder than achievements.

I have read a lot of the negative reviews written by other people. It is ALL TRUE!!!. ADT preys on hard working, decent people by lying to them about contracts, charging them endlessly and then threatening to send them to collections. Their reps reassure you that they will cancel service. Unbeknownst to you, they will not cancel your service, citing "a contract that you had signed." There was no contract. They tell you they will cancel your service in accordance with your wishes. When it is not canceled and you call back to find out why, they tell you that you had failed to call yet another number to verify the cancellation. WHAT A BUNCH OF SNAKES.

ADT's billing practicies are reprehensible
I had ADT install a wireless mobile network based alarm system 3 years ago. I had no issues with the monitoring, that was fine, but after about a year my bill suddenly increased by several dollars per month. I didn't really notice for a couple of months because I have the monthly bill deducted from my account automatically. When I realized they had changed the amount I called them up to complain. They told me that I hadn't "opted out" of the price increase. I was seriously annoyed by this and after running me around through two or three customer support drones finally agreed to charge me less for a couple of months to make up for the additional charges and to then return the bill to the original contracted amount. Who the hell does business like this? They claim "costs in certain areas go up", to which I would reply, then why the hell do you create a contract? It's typical corporate lawyerspeak. I found the alarm more of an aggravation than anything else and stopped setting it around 18 months into the term. I really didn't want it anymore but I had signed a contract, so I let the thing ride for the full 3 years. Never missed a payment. 3 full years. A month before the contract was due to expire I called to cancel the service. They ran me around to a couple of people, in the interim making me listen to a long tedious spiel about how wonderful their service was, spouting statistics about crime in homes with alarms vs homes without alarms, yada, yada, yada until finally the other customer service person came on. When I told him what I wanted to do I was told that I should call back to cancel the following month when the contract expired. I was really annoyed by this because I didn't want to forget to do it and get charged an extra month, but I believed what they told me, so I waited. Oh what a fool I was. I called again the following month and got the exact same run around. The first person I finally reached went through the routine, taking all the account information about my account and when I told him I wanted to cancel had to route me to another person (of course). I went through the whole 10 minute routine again, listening to the same tedious spiel, until finally another person came on. I had to give them the same information all over again and go through the verify process all over again (don't these people know how to pass information about an account from one person to another?) only to have this person tell me that "company policy" was that a 30 day notice was required to cancel service. I knew then I was being jerked around. One rep says "call back in a month" and the other says "there's a thirty day notice required". I don't really like confrontations, and I don't like being rude to people, but this kind of dishonesty really grinds my gears. I told her I don't want to pay for another month, that their own customer service rep had told me to call back when I tried to cancel the month before. She told me that I had already been charged for the month and that this would be the last charge. I said, okay, that's fine, I just don't want to have to pay for another month. But, of course, they charged me again at the beginning of the next month. I called again and went through the same - now infuriating - routine, explaining everything to the first person who finally answered, only to be passed along to another person after another aggravating 10 minutes of listening to the same insipid company propaganda (I realize now that this is deliberate, they want you to wait and listen to this stuff). The customer service rep refused to take the charge off the account, giving me some horseshit about there being 9 monitoring centers and the cancellation having to work its way through them, as though they are sending someone around to all the call centers on horseback with a hand-written note saying to cease monitoring at this address. I'm in IT, I know bullsh*t about computers when I hear it. It's just so infuriating to have them steal another month after I faithfully honored the contract I signed, paying them for three full years for a service I really didn't use for half that time - buyer beware, right? But then to basically have their customer service reps outright lie to me to gouge me for another month. If you're thinking about dealing with these people, don't. Their service is NOT worth the cost. They are not honorable, their reps will lie, and if they can steal a few extra bucks from you, they will. Find someone else, maybe a local service or some other reputable company that doesn't rope you into contracts, or lie, or steal. Look into AlarmGrid, they offered some helpful information to keep the ADT people from bricking my system remotely. Search the internet, better companies really do exist out there. Oh, and don't buy the apologies they tack on to these reviews, it's just damage control.

Just terrible stay a way from adt
Just terrible stay a way from adt. They charge me for more than 400 dollars for cancellations which they never never tell me sign 3 years contract. I call to cancel last year they said this year is contract end. This is my 3rd year and they still lied. Please do not sign to adt, I am so mad after long wait time just to call for cancellation still charge me for early contract termination. I am really unhappy customer

I am the business customer of adt/protection 1. after the numbers of call that i had made to ask for service and end up charging nearly$1000 and still do not fix the problem. I said good bye to them, but this is not it. After that i have received calls from them every month to collect the last payment. I had pay for everything. Finally, I ask them to sent me an email that this is it. Stay Away.

Unethical, liars, and cheaters
This company is unethical. A bunch of liars and cheaters. I moved out in October 2019. I have tried for the past 10 months to cancel service, but I keep getting the run around. I call and wait for 15 minutes, then get hung up on. This happens multiple times. I fax them a letter saying to cancel service on July 2, 2020. They tell me I have to give 30 days notice. Yeah right. Don't use them! You will never be able to cancel and they will send you to collections if you don't pay.

ADT.....is thee worst company ever in… ADT.....is thee worst company ever in my 50+ years that I have ever dealt with. They responded with my complaint with please call us and we will resolve your problem. I did and they offered absolutely nothing for their horrible service and incompetence. Instead asked if wanted to pay off a settlement fee. I said NO. Well today after charging me another months fee they decide to take upon themselves to execute the buyout without my consent. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND THEE WORST EVER! YOU ARE A DISGUSTING EXCUSE FOR A COMPANY!

Not one honest person working for ADT
Literally the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. First the sales person lied about the contract and kept repeating that I can cancel at any time with any fees. He didn’t show us our contract probably because her didn’t want us to see his outright lies. Fast forward a couple of months, I updated my router and needed to updated my network info for my cameras to work. They wanted me to take a ladder, which I don’t have and crawl up to get to the camera to reset the network. So they scheduled a service call for them to come do it. Not once did they mention that there is a “discounted” fee of $173 for the first half hour!!!!!! Since day one it has been lies with adt, no transparency at all!!
