Professionalism
I am active duty, however, I also see how much active servicemembers feel "entitled" which is not ok. I moved my family due to new orders and upon cancelation they were very reluctant to do so, the first lady I spoke to tried to sell me items, the second lady was great and put the order of cancelation in, I called for a follow up and then he moved it forward, I was charged again so I called, I was refunded a partial amount of 46 dollars when I was assured 76, which is what they charged. Long story short it was many phone calls and a waste of my time, I contacted my bank to let them know walhat was happening and also informed a lawyer into the situation. Professionalism is nonexistent. I pay for a service I expect that service. When anyone pays for something, they expect to receive what they pay for. I recommend other services.

I ve been waiting for a week now for the 3rd x with my monitor....scheduled an apt for Tues at 5 because I work until4 by the schedulers ony to have the tech call at 230 to tell me he s on his way....he stated there are no apts after 4...He told me I ll be done 1st thing Sat am at 8 ....I called only to find out the apt was moved to 12 to4...Now I am missing g my grandson Christmas play I called again person on the phone stated I m the 1st apt in the pm at noon ....I sit here and waiting it s 1230.....today is Monday the 18 th waited 17 mins to speak to someone about this situation was transfered x 3 only to be hung up by .....that's is surely not a way to handle business

I USED to be very happy with my service. Do to a renovation we had to upgrade our system. I haven't been happy since. Despite many phone calls and being transferred to countless "techs" my problems have not been resolved. The videos they keep recommending I watch are useless.

ADT used to be good years ago
ADT used to be good years ago. Now they want to avoid servicing their cheap equipment or schedule in person appointment. They want you to go online or video conference and you do the work. I pay too much money each month to do their work. After negotiating and fussing with them they finally scheduled the appointment.

Two start with we've been with ADT 43 and a 1/2 years. We notice that they started taking money out on unscheduled days out of our account, which is financial fraud. When we got them 3 and a 1/2 years ago are bill was $49 now. We're paying over $62. We never received a email text message or by mail. About the price increase we're taking in out on unscheduled days. Are payment was supposed to be taken out on the 7th of every month we called. They tell us. Are bill is 54 dollars, but we are paying almost 62. Dollars 1 person tells us there are contract is for 5 years and if we cancel with them, we'd have to pay over a $1000 for our equipment. Then they transfer us to somebody else. That person tells us our contract was only for 3 years. And we go monthtwo month. Sounds like a lot of fraud going on. My legal adviser told me to contact them and give them a chance. To make this straight. All we get is runaround. Transferred 4 times for the same issue. No straight answers or the same answers. If you can't trust them in their payments like. I said our schedule day for the money to be taking out of our checking account was on the seventh. We have Documentation that they were taken out on the fourth of the month, the 6th of the month and the seventh several different payments, and that's where becomes financial fraud. Can't trust them with your payment. How can you trust them? 2 protect your home.

Worst compared to deal with EVER! It would take me too long to write everything that has been horrendous with this company! They have offshore customer service which is not at all helpful! We are a new customer & are canceling before we even initiate our service!

I had adt for 8 years I moved and had a new alarm installed by adt the google nest cameras are junk they never show up on the home app and when they do the constantly disconnect. The nest door bell is junk no wide angle view. Can’t even see at night. The worst thing adt did was team up with nest. Ring makes more reliable products then nest. Ready to tell adt to get all you equipment out of my house. They tell me call google

Tried to cancel initial contract.
Tried to cancel initial contract. I was on hold and transfered 4 times in the next hour. This was for start up service. i just wanted to reschedule hookup date, but became so frustrated I decided to cancel contract. Never received cancelliation notice went on line and disputed initial credit card setup. Zero star

Terrible customer service
Terrible service. I tried to use Live Chat and there was no send button after writing message. Very difficult to talk to a human being. ADT does not show an 800 customer service number on its website or, if they do, I couldn't find it.

ADT lied about owning my purchased equipment
My grievance revolves around the misrepresentation of information regarding the transferability of my security system equipment upon relocating to a new residence. I engaged ADT's services by purchasing security equipment valued at approximately $1,000. During the sales process, I was explicitly informed that I would own the purchased equipment, and in the event of relocating to a new home, I could seamlessly transfer the security system to the new location. The assurance provided by the ADT representative was a significant factor in my decision to invest in their services. However, when I recently attempted to exercise this supposed ownership privilege and transfer my equipment to my new residence, I encountered a starkly different reality. Upon calling ADT customer service to arrange for the relocation of my security system, I was met with a frustrating and disheartening series of events. Firstly, I was informed that I would need to purchase an entirely new set of equipment for my new home, contradicting the initial assurance that I owned the equipment and could transfer it. This inconsistency not only violates the terms of our agreement but also puts into question the integrity of the information provided during the sales process. Adding to my dismay, I spent an exasperating hour on the phone with ADT customer service, enduring a series of transfers to different employees. Regrettably, none of these representatives could provide a satisfactory resolution to my predicament. Moreover, when I requested to speak with a manager to escalate the matter, I was informed that no managerial personnel were available at the time. This runaround and lack of access to higher management have left me feeling not only betrayed but also severely inconvenienced and stressed. Moving is already a challenging process, and ADT's failure to uphold the commitment made during the initial purchase has significantly exacerbated the difficulties I am facing. Additionally, I hope this complaint serves as a cautionary note to prevent similar occurrences for other consumers who trust ADT's representations.

No notification of increases.
No notification of increase which put my bank account over. Breached contract and still wont let me out of contract. Cost me $35.00 in fees and offer me a $4.95 credit for their mistake after spending 2 hours of my work time on the phone.

ADT is horrible
ADT is horrible. Their camera's break constantly and they want you to pay (even more) for them to come out and fix THEIR problem! They increase your rates with no knowledge of why the rate increased (that is what the representative told me, "I don't know, they computer does it.") and then say their is nothing I can. They make you hold 40+ minutes every time and anytime you call, plus make you hold 40+ minutes while they "talk to their supervisor".

Poor technical performance
Their virtual technical support doesn’t provide permanent fix for the sensors installed. It’s a very poor service. Also they want to charge you $60 for an actual technician to come and fix the problem. I closed my account with them and I don’t recommend them at all. You stay on the phone with them for hours without getting any answers.

I have been trying for two months to…
I have been trying for two months to cancel my service. I have written letters and been on endless calls, going through various menus and long holds only to be passed around from person to person. Ultimately I am told that a "local person" will call me in "48 hours" to "discuss cancellation". Nobody ever calls. ADT has a system designed to prevent cancellation, but I never signed up for a contract that prevented me from cancelling or required this exercise to do so.

STAY AWAY from ADT. Worst company that I ever delt with. Their monitoring system sucks. Consumer relations sucks. I have been paying this system for 5 years. This is my worst investments. I had countless system failures and alarms. They never called. The worst, I have been trying to cancel for the past 6 months. Finally they did and told me since I am just asking to cancel they will not reimburse the few months that I stopped paying. To make matters worst, I paid the equipment off since June. A tech came to my house to troubleshoot the system, and told me that I have to upgrade to their new wireless system. It is all about money. They are blaming me that I did not get the right department, when they are the ones who were transferring me from departments to departments. Yet, they see all the notes of my calls for the last year asking to be cancelled. It is all about Money, they do not care about the consumer. Find another company. Trust me.

If I could hit no starts that would be more accurate. Horrible company, don’t waste your time, money, energy, they will not protect you. Just overcharge, their alarms are weak they often go off and police comes for no reason and you get a bill from the police department that you need to pay $800 while you were away in the other country and adt system just didn’t work. On top of everything they will not reimburse you, it will take forever to get your money back . Customer service is horrible. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

ADT is an unscrupulous/dishonest company -- BUYER BEWARE
We bought a new home from a nationwide builder, and it came with an ADT system pre-installed; they sold it as a 'smart home.' Because we were familiar with the ADT brand after having seen it for so many years, we called the company to set up the pre-installed system and take advantage of the supposed $500 credit towards this new system. We paid over $800 to have additional monitors (smoke and carbon monoxide alarms installed) and the system configured. We then signed the THREE-YEAR agreement. Our system has been regularly malfunctioning since it was installed. Our doorbell camera is continuously knocked offline with no provocation or incident. We have occasionally called in an attempt to get service because, after all, what does $45.00 a month for monitoring include...if not, SERVICE for the expensive equipment you installed? We were told our agreement, worth $1,655 (together with the $800 for installation = $2,455) did not include service for said equipment. I believe this to be dishonest and unscrupulous. They goad people into signing these agreements, promising the sun, moon, and stars, and delivering nothing. When you call their service center, you get rude people who don't even understand your questions. We have several more months on our agreement, but we intend to cancel it as soon as we can and will not renew this horrible service, nor would we ever recommend it. We now have a VERY expensive system that's mostly useless to us.

System doesn't always connect doesn't always work and when you try to return it or turn it off they'll hit you with a big fine thousands of dollars. And they won't tell you that the batteries on the cameras that they sell only last for about 6 hours unless you turn all motion off I'll have to buy the solar charger which they will sell to you and it's not cheap. Simply safe is a better system anyway works better I haven't had any problems.

Service malfunction frustration/no in home tech assistance
I have called ADT several times as one of my sensors is malfunctioning. After troubleshooting and long conversations with some reps that I cannot understand and I have hung up on them due to the frustration, the issue has yet to be resolved its been months. Most recently I have spent long periods on the chat and a few phone calls as my camera is not working properly and still is not functioning at its best. I will be canceling my ADT service upon expiration of my contract. I have been a customer for 12 years. They do not offer to send a tech out as they did before. Not sure how bad the situation has to be to receive in home tech assistance. So why pay all this money if at the end of the day the system has a glitch/malfunction and you have to spend hours on the phone and/or chat and still the issue remains. I was supposed to receive a "virtual call" between 6-6:30 p.m. today and it is now past 7:45 p.m. and I have yet to receive a call. I know COVID changed alot of things but this is just ridiculous. The customer service use to be great sadly it does not stand true today. I am so disappointed. I pay for a service that has not been working at a 100%. Time to do my research for another security company upon completion of my contract. This is beyond frustrating and exhausting especially when you can hardly understand the person on the other end of the phone.

Adt performed an upgrade of my system
Adt performed an upgrade of my system, the according to them, was obsolete and stopped working, they installed a new digital display, I did not reach the 4 months that stopped working, now they charge me $ 59.99 to send a technician to check and then charge the cost of repair or replacement of the equipment. You should think carefully when hiring ADT FOR YOUR HOME SECURITY.

Problem to Cancel Service
I've continually been in contact with ADT, and my issues with us still very much unresolved. I had to send a second letter of service cancellation because someone at the home office didn't communicate with the rest of the field which then after I had to call them and follow up I find that no one knew and I was told to send a second cancellation request. Now they're charging me for extended services that I don't have anymore. VERY Unprofessional on ADT's part. I've tried recently communicating with ADT politely with Eileen, and ADT is being very unreasonable and untrustworthy. I would advise anyone considering home security to look elsewhere and not chose ADT. They have been very difficult to work with and won't even give one a compromise. Never use ADT. I had ADT for a number of years and when I sent in my letter of cancellation of Services Effective 30 October 2023 and then followed up with a phone confirmation 5 days later it hadn't been received and I was told to send another letter with was finally received, but because it was received 5 days later than originally, then I'm being charged for Services I originally cancelled. ADT is saying they go by the date received and not the date on the cancellation letter, if I didn't have to send a second letter of cancellation because ADT didn't receive the first one I shouldn't have to be penalized. Don't trust big companies, they always lie and are not trustworthy.

Not now, not ever
As far as I can tell, ADT is allowing their franchise offices to conduct predatory business practices as well as strong arming new customers. I have spoken to 2 different ADT agents in the last week. The first was clearly a seasoned professional who explained everything being offered and answered my questions. Having been an ADT customer in the past, I felt confident that ADT was the right security system for me and my new home. I spoke with the second agent as a favor to my realtor. He immediately started asking me for personal information in order to start our contract. Once I got his verbal quote for my monthly fee, I drew the line at giving a credit card. I asked for the weekend to consider his proposal. He did not call me on Monday, or Tuesday or Wednesday, but on Thursday, the technician showed up to install the system I did not ask for. Almost immediately, the second agent’s ‘manager’ called telling me that the agent was out ‘with Covid’ and yes, I did make a commitment and offered to send me a recording of my conversation. What? How is this a way to do business, especially with a returning customer. I called the phone number I found online for ADT executives, and of course, it was a simple customer service greeting with the usual convoluted choices, none of which applied to me. Then the ‘manager’ emails me a voice file, presumably of my conversation with the second agent. I have never ever had such ‘service’ and will not ever be doing business with this company again. I do feel bad for the first agent, for this situation and the fact that once a customer is in ADT’s system, that account won’t be release for 30 days. Her rate was better but the company behind her product should be ashamed of allowing these practices. Lucky for me, there are many choices out there.
