Non-existent tech support and customer service
I have been an ADT customer since 2010. My system was upgraded in 5/2021.
The command panel battery failed last week and today I replaced it with a replacement battery sent by ADT, following the instructions sent by ADT. After replacing the battery, the system was working but I couldn't clear the Base Cover Tamper alarm, even after multiple attempts.
I called ADT and was on hold for over 50 min. While on hold, I chatted on the app. The rep gave me multiple instructions which didn't apply to my system (press buttons which don't exist, etc.). The problem was not resolved. He scheduled a virtual tech visit, but not until 9/19/2022.
My call was then answered after 52 minutes on hold. The rep sounded quite tentative and was clearly reading from a script; when I asked him if he was from tech support, he said yes. He insisted that I reopen the panel, which I was very reluctant to do. After following his disastrous instructions, the system had a power failure. The rep said that he was going to schedule a technician, but first had to cancel the virtual appointment - he repeated that several times, and took several minutes to do it. He scheduled a technician, but not for 5 days. He then admitted he was not from tech support.
My system started beeping incessantly, and I couldn't turn it off because the screen was blank.
I called but, even for emergencies, ADT has a wait of over 30 minutes.
Eventually I had to disconnect all wires and battery to get the beeping to stop.
ADT has been taking my monthly payments for years, but the only time that I need support is has been an epic fail.
The staff is poorly trained, only able to read from scripts, give incorrect and disastrous instructions and misrepresent their credentials.
And how can they have a wait of over 30 minutes even for emergencies?
They used to be decent, but they have markedly declined.
EDIT: I was able to move up the appointment to 9/15/2022 by staying up past midnight and checking the website tens of times for openings. The technician indicated that the initial installation in 5/2021 had been done incorrectly, which prevented me from successfully replacing the battery. He had to drill another hole in the wall to pass the wires. He called ADT and had the repair charge waived.
Unsatisfactory customer service
I have been a auto paying customer on time every month since 2015. I called today and was on hold for a total of 2 hours and still am on hold. This is a disgrace. Pay your money for a company who actually cares when they take your money.

Been with this company since 2010. Back in the day when your siren would go off ADT would call you. They've gotten over price and super lazy over the years. Im under no contract anymore. I've called them almost two months ago to cancel them. They didn't cancel like they was supposed to. Billed me again had to recall them for them to take off the charge. Their supposed to send me a email confirmation confirming cancelation nothing but #crickets. And now I feel I'm being held hostage against my will. They won't be EVER getting another payment from me. And I will be reporting this company to The Better Business Bureau. This is surely illegal. And I will sue if they try to bill me again. And send it to collections to mess up my credit. Because I have a right to leave.

This company has deceptive practices and doesn’t even deserve one star. They do everything they can to make it extremely difficult to cancel service. Anybody with any common sense should stay away from this company. The Scott’s are merely well-paid escorts. This company has fraudulent business practices.
Honestly, they don’t even deserve a one star
I was approached by an ADT sales rep as I had just purchased a new house. I was super excited as I am a young home owner and wanted a good reliable security. I signed up the same day and the following week a technician came out to install my system. All was good and I even added a deadbolt that I can control from my phone. About a month after my installation I contacted ADT because my panel was going into rest mode it just stated on the arm/disarm screen constantly. They gave me steps on how to correct that, but that did not work and still is not working. A few weeks later, my father accidentally hit my panic button, on the panel, (probably because the panel is on 24/7) and the policy showed up within 5 minutes which is great, but nothing was wrong. ADT didn’t call me till an hour later to make sure everything was okay. I then contacted them to cancel my contract as the system is not preforming like I though and was promised it would. I was told I would have to pay $3k to cancel my contract! What?!? My sales rep told me I had a 60-day money back guarantee. Mind you this is 30 days after my installation. I asked them if there is anyway I can just get my panel switched out to the portable one so I can move it around the house to avoid anyone potentially hitting the panic button and was told I would have to pay $500. To switch out a panel?!? Are you serious?!? I asked if the panel I have can just be moved to a different room and was told it would be $90. I agreed and scheduled an appointment. During this appointment, the technician was going to adjust the sensitivity of my smoke detector as I could be simply cooking in the kitchen and it will go off. By the way, when it did, it took ADT 10 minutes to call me. Glad my house wasn’t burning down. The morning of the appointment I had an emergency and contacted ADT to cancel the appointment. They told me they don’t show an appointment scheduled and I need to call Safe Haven. Tried to call Safe Haven BUT THEY WERE CLOSED. How is a customer suppose to cancel an appointment if you’re not even open! I contacted ADT again and told them Safe Haven was closed and they basically told me I was out of luck. I finally emailed Safe Haven and they said I’ll be refunded the $90 (which I still have not received). Here is the last straw for me. I contacted them TODAY to see if there was a way to turn the volume down on my outdoor camera as it is ridiculously loud when someone pulls into my driveway AND there is such a delay of the camera going off and me getting a notification on my phone. By the time I’d get the notification, the person could already be in my house. I was told I need to contact YET ANOTHER company called P1 to figure that out. Are you serious?!? I asked a simple question and I have to call someone else? I have to wait on hold for hours just to be told to contact someone else. At this point, I don’t even know who to call because they always say to contact someone else. The customer service is horrible. My system does work properly. And it’s more of a headache having their system then not. I’m going to be filing a complaint with the AG as this is the worse company I have ever dealt with.

If there was a zero star option I would choose that. They are thieves. I called them out on a few things in the past. The last straw is the outside siren equipment was dead. Battery was dead. We called and asked can we do it ourselves. Girl said no. Tech came out, stayed at the street and I asked him why are you here. I remembered the installer telling me it's 4 AA batteries. I went and got a ladder and did it in front on the guy. No signatures he did nothing. I got a $138 bill.. Absolutely not. I contacted my bank for fraud. ADT did not want to credit back my card. Chase will be investigating.

Update. I called to cancel my ADT subscription. They provide nothing but outrageous charges. What am I paying $70/mo and have to pay to service the equipment. That should be part of the monthly cost.

I have been trying to get assistance for over a week. Dealing with customer service is painful.. They kept bouncing back and forth in question to same person who never helped. If zero were an option that is what I would rate them at this point. Don't use this company. I feel ripped off.

As I explore new security systems for my home after more than 15 years, (1) my alarm went off this morning without notice or reason, the system having been turned off, (2) my panel to turn off the alarm did not work, (3) I call ADT and, after about an hour, I finally received a call back, advising me to unplug the system (which I did), and (4) I have now scheduled a technician - at a cost in excess of $230. Don’t sign up! Don’t believe them! Their equipment sucks!
Worst Customer service period! First, they lied about the terms if I Kobe’s or was relocated. Let me tell you, even if you move out of your control because of a company move, you keep them or pay lots of money to drop them. Then you pay for the equipment at your new and old home. It’s a scam. Ni wants to work with you, they just want to transfer you. Moreover, if you ask for a manager they dump you in a call queue where the wait is 30 minutes all the time. This place is awful, their define sucks and their equipment sucks. I’ve had alarms go off and still no call. I keep having equipment issues and they want to charge me to fix their equipment. Please think twice before signing up with this company. I just wish I had done more research before signing up. The sales person is a pure charlatan.

Awful experience. At this point it’s a scam in my opinion don’t use them. They are not helpful. I just keep getting transferred if I need help.
ADT doesn't honor contracts they buy
The salesman at safestreets USA and me agreed to go halfsies on the cintract cancellation costs, because i didn't want to buy the system because I'd be moving in three years. He wanted to clinch the sale, so i agreed on halfsies.
I sold and paid my 250 hay i owe, and got sent to collections for the salesman's 250 that HE owes.
ADT bought my contract from safestreets usa, and both companies told me that I'm SOL. No attempt to track down the salesman, no nothing.
Safestreets usa in north carolina owes YOU 254.16, not ME. If they don't want to track down the salesman and get it from him, then they can eat the cost for hiring a scumbag.
Verbal agreements are legal in texas. I'll die on this hill. F my credit score, I don't give a Sh. The salesman owes you the money, not me.

I didn't bother making him put it in writing, because verbal agreements are legit where the contract was made,and i thought i could trust them.

I have had ADT security for years with no problem. This year we sold our house and moved to another state where we have rented a house until we decide what area to buy a new house. I called ADT to let them know we were moving and would no longer need service after the date we were moving. They said fine and would I mind leaving a letter for the new owners of the house we sold. We moved in June of 2022 and in July I get a bill for service in July and the upcoming month of August. I called ADT and explained we don't even live there anymore. They said they would take care of it but the following month I get a new bill with "adjustments". They were just charging me for one month of the two that I didn't live there. I called ADT to find out what the problem was, and they gave me the number for a collection agency. All this time they kept pressuring me to install ADT security in our rental house.

They want you to sign a contract with them,but they don't want to up hold there end of the contract. the glass break alarm ways goes off but not once they call to see if a intruder broke in or not.number 2 some grease spilled in the oven the smoke alarm went off almost 20 min b4 they called.thank GOD there was t a real fire,the whole house would have been burned down. I recently got an alarm system installed. From the day it was installed it did not work properly. I called and had a tech come out to correct the problems from the original installation. Once every thing was fixed they charged me for the service. It was installed improperly and I should not have been charged. They would not credit me. I would not recommend ADT to anyone.

Since the beginning of my hiring ATT to do my services I was told it would not require a contract when I called in I found out it was a 3-year contract that I was locked into I started my service and it was 5051 approximately a month it is now up to almost $70 a month and I didn't get notifications I didn't get anything I just you know deal with it when I call to cancel I talked to seven people before I could even cancel it and that was seemed a little excessive considering I haven't had one of their cameras working in any of those three years when I called to have them bring me a new camera it never did arrive in 3 years the most unprofessional way to do business I've ever seen when I went to cancel I found out I was talking to someone in the Dominican Republic no wonder I was having a hard time making this work but even the other people I spoke to they couldn't seem to make it work either so a total of seven people 45 minutes later after asking for two supervisors I finally get to let this company go and I must say not a moment too soon they don't follow through with what they say they will do I have feel like I paid for the last 3 years worth of security for nothing hell my ring works better so disappointed in their business practices so if you're considering ADT I would strongly suggest do your own home security through Costco it's called blink and there is no fees .

If I could rate a zero I would have. I had a security system with ADT for 2 years. After the first 6 months in went down hill. Cameras not capturing motion. Alarm was triggered twice and ADT didn’t even call us. When we called them they said everything on their end was good it could have been a system glitch. Thank goodness it was not an emergency. After the 3rd triggered alarm with no notification or call from them I called to request a tech come out because the cameras were still not recording clips as well. I was on hold for over an hour. Requested a Friday appointment, received text that it was a Thursday from 8-12. I left work came home. No tech showed. Once 1pm came I called them was on hold for and hour, was told my appointment was cancelled by the tech stating customer cancelled. Which I did not and lost pay for this 5 hour window. I asked for higher level service manager was transferred 5xs before being put back into que for another 1 hour wait time. WARNING DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. Security system doesn’t even work half the time.

Was told I could cancel before six months if I didn’t like the service. Called to cancel because I didn’t like it and they tried charging me over $3k to cancel. I would NEVER recommend this service to anyone and highly advise anyone considering ADT to look at other options.

I'd give no stars if that was available. A technician came and blew out 3 sockets which caused a huge spark. One came on a day later. The other two did not come back on until 4 days later. We requested to have an electrician come to check the wiring to ensure our safety. After giving us the runaround for 2 weeks, they said we'd have to pay for the electrician if they can't find anything wrong and then want to charge an early termination fee because we no longer want their service. They do not have any regard for our safety or wellbeing and want to force us to pay to feel safe in our home again.

My alarm keeps going off. I called was told there was a 30 min wait I was on hold for 48 mins. Then the phone disconnected, so I called back 50 mins later still on hold, got disconnected again. Called back the guy who answered offered to connect me to the right department I told him that I had been on hold for a very long time, could he make sure someone answered. Of course he told me sorry there is a wait time, you can call back later. WTH my alarm is steady going off. I'm going to switch providers tomorrow I have had ADT for 14 years I'm done. They suck!

Make that minus infinity stars. They emailed my ex-wife’s email with my service information. I was assured the last time that she had been deleted off the account and that would never happen again. When I called to complain they referred me to my PULSE app which doesn’t work and is the reason for the pending service call. This is who’s supposedly watching out for me. THE WORST SECURITY SERVICE EVER! Absolutely disgraceful!
ADT- LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE non-working system
ADT- Upgraded my system in July. Now the panel DOES NOT COMMUNICATE as the corporate office keeps shutting down the "radio" / communicator. But they still charge the monthly fee. Cannot get an ADT person on the phone keep bouncing around 1hour hold then later 2.5 hours. Now a 24 minute delay. Still a month plus and no monitoring of my system and ADT cannot provide an answer to fix my system they sold me one technician recommended I go to a competitor

Don’t waste your time or money on ADT! They’ll charge you to cancel even once you’ve had them three years there’s a four-year contract which is ridiculous!! That’s a bunch of crap! Their cameras are crap and have limited range. And if you need anything they’ll mail it to you and it’s a DIY project on you. Why are we paying them all this money and you have to do things yourself? I will never use ADR again and would warn you to stay far away from them!! It’s a lousy company!

This past Saturday I received a message that my ADT system was not communicating with the monitoring service. I called and spoke to your representative that had me run diagnostics after which I was informed that a service call was required which was scheduled for this morning the 23rd. Instead of a in person service call I was subjected to a virtual service call that performed the same diagnostics performed days earlier. As you may guess I was told a service call would be required.
